What do you like best?
The fact that SmartRecruiters tries to be a complete solution, for example you can directly send emails through the platform & book interviews with it (the integration of O365) so you can keep a tight follow-up on the application.
There are some nice features that make our life easier like : The evaluation scorecards are also helpful to standardize the feedbacks and assessments of the applications.
What do you dislike?
The support that is reactive (cheers for that) but not always solution driven. On sometimes simple questions, (even if we can understand the platform does not have the feature), we are just left there, with no insight or solution on how to deal with the problem on the platform.
Many integration problems with LinkedIn (for the logo, the job description, ...), we sure do understand that Linkedin does its own changes, but if it affects SmartRecruiter and then comes to stain our branding or if we have to recheck and changes manually every job add both on SmartRecruiter and LInkedin, then there is no added value for us.
We could wish that changes on the Linkedin side (or other major player) are known ahead by SmartRecruiter and anticipated so that they come smoothly (some major changes are communicated before, and it is nice, but we also need things of the daily life to go smoothly AKA job posting)
There are a lot of integrations that are really useful but sometimes it feels like it is a bit out of control (not one size fits all) so you will end up with aspects that are not properly handled, or you will not be enough guided going through that. (So you have to do a lot of experimentations to get the results you wanted)
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I advise to really dig into the features and what you want to do with the system, for example if you need something that is highly customizable you might feel a bit restricted, but if you need something that provides a structure to your application tracking with a bit of customization and some help managing function such as interview scheduling, email... , that might do the trick well !
I guess it is all about understanding the scope of your need and what is really crucial to your recruitment process (Is your recruitment process complex ? involving a lot of variation between the roles ? do you have high expectation about how your branding will be handled ?... )
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
Following applications, having the information centralized (emails, interview notes, interview scheduling...) and available for all the persons working on a same role.
Also making it easier and quicker to share job ads on diverse job boards (when everything goes fine...) and to close them afterwards when the job is filled.
Using it also to prepare the offer letter and to send it with DocuSign and having it there (again centralizing the information)
