## About Progress Sitefinity
Progress Sitefinity is a cloud-first content management system (CMS) and digital experience platform (DXP) used to build, manage and personalize websites, portals and other digital properties. It is adopted by mid-market and enterprise organisations that operate multi-site, multilingual or regulated digital estates and need to balance marketing autonomy with IT governance and developer flexibility. Primary use cases include corporate websites, member and customer portals, authenticated experiences, integration-heavy workflows and consolidation of fragmented CMS deployments. Sitefinity supports marketing, development and IT teams through a shared platform model with role-appropriate tools and permissions. Key capabilities include: - Multisite, multilingual and multi-brand management with governance controls and workflows - Native customer data platform (Sitefinity Insight) for segmentation, analytics and personalization - 1,000+ prebuilt connectors and open APIs, Sitefinity Cloud platform integrates with your MarTech stack, CRM and enterprise systems in hours—not weeks - Extensibility using .NET and ASP.NET Core for custom development and composable architectures Sitefinity also incorporates generative and retrieval-augmented capabilities through Progress® Agentic RAG, enabling dynamic assembly of experiences from approved content to reduce manual production work while maintaining accuracy, compliance and brand standards. Additional operational benefits and deployment considerations: - Standardization and consolidation of CMS estates across business units or regions - Support for marketing, development and IT workflows without requiring a headless-only approach - Structured content for regulated or high-volume publishing environments - Deployment on-premises or as a managed cloud service on Microsoft Azure, reducing maintenance and providing security, scaling and compliance

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 13, 2018

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Sitefinity helps our clients tracking their journey analysis, via optimisation and personalisation.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Some bugs need to wait for the next upgrade to be fixed, which is quite a long wait sometimes.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sitefinity CMS has confirmed to be an excellent web content management platform for creating and delivering personalised customer experiences.

  ### 2. Sitefinity

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 12, 2016

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

The security is a plus. That said, it's due to the ASP.NET base.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

It's not as feature-heavy as other popular content management systems.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

It's a decent product, but you'll have a hard time finding "experts" who use it. There's apparently only one in Canada, and the user base is fairly small.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We switched from Joomla to Sitefinity. It allows us to keep the system up to date quicker, as we've centralized the service.

The software has been very powerful in giving us insight into how people are using our website so we can best understand the needs and challenges of our business community

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Some of the facilities that we expected to be integral to the software have required interfacing with other pakages .

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

A goo product

We have a far better online presence with the ability to understand better the challenges facong our 'customers' so we can tailor our service for them.

  ### 5. Right tool for the right purpose

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 21, 2017

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Powerful organizational tools and the ability manage multiple sites within 1 admin

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Can be complex for novice users, if the content team does not have some level of experience they can easily make mistakes that cause unnecessary issues.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Make sure the product isn’t more than needed. It is a great tool for the right situation but if you implement the product for a site that either can’t take advantage of the features or doesn’t have a content team with at least a small amount of experience the complexity of the tool can cause unnecessary hurdles.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Using it for organizations that have several brand sites and need manage each as an independent entity

  ### 6. Sitefinity CMS Review

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael C. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 23, 2018

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

The product itself works very well. The online documentation is great. The technical support people are great.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

A lot of the support comes from central Europe, so you must balance the time difference.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

This is a solid product that is easy to manage and leverages the Microsoft development platform well.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have distributed our website content creation broadly. This is one of Sitefinity's great strengths.

  ### 7. good mid-level enterprise CMS

content updates without IT resources

  ### 8. Sitefinity for Company Website

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Airlines/Aviation | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 03, 2018

Sitefinity provides the flexibility in set up the company website. Their pricing model allows negotiation for multi-year subscription.

I like the flexibility and good pricing.

Sitefinity houses our company website for our customers, vendors and suppliers to access. The Sitefinity website gives us the visibility in our industry.

  ### 9. Easy implementation, great support, productivity boost to small teams

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joshua B. | Web Developer, Transportation/Trucking/Railroad, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 24, 2017

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Ease of implementation, decent documentation, the productivity boost to small teams as well as their commitment to new features are reasons enough to recommend this product.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

The thing I dislike most about this product is that they do not always drink their own cool-aid. I have brought it up multiple times in this review, but the whole 1-2 resources being larger than they should be, un-mimified, and render blocking in this day and age is unacceptable. 2 seconds is not a lot of time, unless you are a customer waiting for a website to load.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Ease of implementation, decent documentation, the productivity boost to small teams as well as their commitment to new features are reasons enough to recommend this product.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With the increased need for mobile friendly sites, and the need to be able to pivot quickly Sitefinity gave us the agility to rapidly deploy changes to our site to A/B test things that increased our lead generation stats.

  ### 10. Sitefinity implementation for small Association

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Banking | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Ease of change to the web site and pages using widgets, filters and tags.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

No themes available for the product from the vendor or 3rd party. had to implement a theme from a purchased HTML 5 theme package.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

No themes, no file and folder widgets.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Service and change to end users

  ### 11. Sitefinity has made my life easier.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chamakhe M. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 28, 2017

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

At firstview,I like the fact I simply drag and drop to update content. At my startup ,we have a lot of test project experiments we run and Sitefinity is our chosen cms ; it allows us test in a few days and know what works and what doesnt.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

I think it isn't budget friendly for very small teams ; maybe a team of three people for instance.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Try Sitefinity's free trial first before making it your option.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Basically we have used Sitefinity to build demo projects to be tested in a matter of days.

  ### 12. Used Sitefinity at two companies

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 09, 2018

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Sitefinity is very user friendly, so everything is point & click or click & drag. The layout is easy to understand and making more advanced changes can be done fairly easily with a web developer.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

The product can still be buggy at times. What you 'preview' may not be what is actually 'published'.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Flexibility to change your website with demand, ecommerce trends, compliance related matters, and business needs.

  ### 13. Enjoyable experience

The advanced settings can sometimes be difficult to dig into and find what you need.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ease of maintaining a multi-language website with a team working throughout the globe.

  ### 14. Security & Ease of Use - Big Plus for Sitefinity Users

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 04, 2018

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Security and ease of use in designing and developing website and back end. Has the ability to really scale and allow us to implement features across mobile seamlessly. Love the dashboard interface.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

somewhat cumbersome to get to root folders

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Find a certified sitefinity partner and the skies the limit

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

CMS for website content, integrated form applications and apis - super easy to configure

  ### 15. great for beginners!

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 05, 2018

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Very user friendly. Easy as drag and drop. You don't need to ask the IT dept for making minor updates. Big time saver.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Would be great if it had many instructional videos in help section.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easier to do ad hoc analysis. Can make changes, updates, reports in real time due to ease of use.

  ### 16. Easy to use for Editors and Content Managers

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Government Administration | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 26, 2018

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Easy for non technical users to update their content, as content blocks look/function alot like any word processor.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

difficult to use some of the features, as it requires advance programming or assistance to use. Was buggy when tried to upgrade and crashed the site.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Good for a classic asp environment.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Purchased sitefinity to allow content editors to update their own pages and run on a classic asp environment.

  ### 17. Great choice for Content Management System

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Government Administration | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 30, 2017

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Sitefinity is easy and intuitive to use, but it also has a lot of nice features.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Granted we are not running the latest version (so this may have been corrected), but the HTML view of the text editor does not format/display the HTML very well at all.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

I cannot recommend this as a CMS enough. It's so easy to use and has so many features - especially if you're in a .NET environment.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are a smaller shop, but we have users that depend on our site to be current and informative. Sitefinity helps our small staff efficiently maintain a very robust website. The time it takes us to perform updates, add content, etc. has been greatly reduced.

  ### 18. Sitefinity rocks!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Natalie E. | Creative Services Project Manager, Non-Profit Organization Management, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 30, 2017

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

I like that Sitefinity can do everything I need it to do (and more that I don't even utilize!). It is easy to use and the staff is very helpful and friendly whenever I have to put in a ticket.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

I wish I had a little more freedom when it comes to the forms section in terms of layout and look. It would be nice to be able to govern the amount of space between form elements but this is just a tiny nit pick. Otherwise the forms are very easy to use and versatile in terms of function.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Sitefinity for our company's website to display our services to clients and prospects, as well as a place for job applicants to come and apply. We use contact/intake forms for various marketing initiatives as well as the "contact us" section on our site. The site acts as a place our clients can go to view news and any best practice articles we post. Eventually we will implement a log in based section to act as an employee portal and will implement a similar portal for clients to access their specific reports and information. The site is also integrated with Google AdWords and Analytics which has helped with our marketing efforts and tracking.

  ### 19. Basrely functional

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 09, 2018

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

There is not much we like about Sitefinity. It constantly breaks on us, and pages revert to prior versions without us realizing it.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

The system is not intuitive--modules are not easy to copy and tweak.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use this to host our customer facing sites.

  ### 20. Great Price and Customization

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tim E. | IT Team Lead, Hospital & Health Care, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 30, 2017

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Great customization and simple installation has made the implementation a great success. There is a community with great tips or help you are stuck and having the ability to integrate into SharePoint is a huge plus from our side.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

End Users GUI.. for the end users that need to update certain areas of the website the web ui is not the most user friendly. This has caused a lot of back training, as well a little more involvement then we wanted to take on

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

It is a great product, end user training does take some time. If you want the most out of the product expect do to customization to the underlying code versus the ootb solution.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The original scope was to reach out to patients and communities about the health regions, since adoption we have recently help move along fundraising which as been great.

  ### 21. Good product that is very customizable

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 22, 2018

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Meets it's goals and is stable user adoption has been good

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Upgrades can be labor intensive support could be better

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

be prepared to spend some time and money to customize

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Public web site - ease of use with end users

  ### 22. Sitefinity review

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 01, 2018

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Ease of implementation, easy to use GUI and product support & documentation.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

In the last few versions too many features have been added reducing the focus on the core product. Licensing is not very clear.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Running multiple web properties 24x7 with confidence in great up-time. Ability for internal non-tech teams to manage the content increasing overall productivity and reducing inefficient flows and procedures.

  ### 23. Good product, lousy third party vendors

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 24, 2017

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Flexible, able to share content across pages. Easy to use. Lots of customizable options.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Mobile responsiveness isn't the best (although, not sure if this is because of our third party developer, or the product itself)

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Go for it, it's a little different from the typical CMS like Wordpress, but it's very easy to use and has a lot of perks. Just avoid going with a third party vendor and developer that doesn't know what it's doing because they will muck up the product.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We had to build an updated, modern website with a strong content management system to make things more efficient for content authors with low technical abilities. This worked well!

  ### 24. Sitefinity Experience for New Website

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Events Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 08, 2017

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Having the ability to restore previous pages if something was published incorrectly.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Hosting multiple sites on one account proved challenging. If a change was made accidentally on a global level, all sites were affected.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having a new website solves several business problems :) We did not have choice in who our host was going to be.

  ### 25. Solid and Reliable .NET based CMS

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vince A. | Director of Information Technology, Biotechnology, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2017

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Ease of implementation, powerful widget designer, engine is fast and reliable, easy integration with active directory for content management distribution.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Designing and editing widgets can sometimes be cumbersome to remember exact mechanism and syntax, but plenty of online resources available.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

For any organization seeking a robust and powerful CMS, Sitefinity is the way to go, especially if already investing in .NET resources for existing application development.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed a .NET based Content Management System to distribute content management among our user base with template-based pages. It needed to be fast, powerful and flexible to be able to customize with .NET widgets to meet our needs. We have found all of that with Sitefinity.

  ### 26. Easy to Use CMS and Highly Extensible

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel K. | Digital Marketing Director, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 13, 2017

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Ease of backend editing was the number one featured compared to other Enterprise CMSes we have worked with. Also their content personalization features are really nice. Lastly their site-sync feature was crucial to our workflow.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

The email marketing component could use some work to bring it up to the standards of some other email service providers. List management functions did not allow for easy segmenting.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Make sure to work with 3rd party vendors that have Sitefinity experience not just .NET. There are nuances that are important to making quality modules.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our challenge was to find an enterprise level CMS that had an easy to use backend, the ability to customize, and a good workflow for syncing staging and production environments. It has provided great flexibility and has proven to be a great platform.

  ### 27. Very happy with the performance and versatility of Sitefinity

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Oscar P. | Managing Director of Technology, Education Management, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 12, 2016

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Sitefinity is a pretty robust CMS platform very user friendly and flexible yet allowing enterprise deployments that scale well. In the past performance was an issue but this has been significantly improved since version 8 and it keeps getting better. The API is one of e biggest advantages it is very flexible and allows integration to pretty much any third party solution.
Content creators and managers like it a lot because they do not need technical skills to publish content and make adjustments to the structure. Tech people like it a lot because the software runs well does not cause headaches and performs well.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Feature waste. In the last few versions too many features have been added reducing the focus on the core product. Licensing is not very clear as well, sales process has gotten pretty complex after Telerik's acquisition. Sales people are focused on "closing the deal" rather than "finding the right solution to the problem".

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Running multiple web properties 24x7 with confidence in great up-time. Ability for internal non-tech teams to manage the content increasing overall productivity and reducing inefficient flows and procedures.

  ### 28. Easy Implementation, Easy to use

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2017

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

The ability to quickly build and deploy websites. My team is able to rapidly take customer requirements and build robust user friendly sites.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Yearly costs but they aren't super high.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Time to deployment and the ability to reuse solutions that have worked previously.

  ### 29. Well done

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 21, 2017

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Impressed with quality of product and experience

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

No complaints or concerns at this time..

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Impressed with product and quality of services

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Continued CMS/web development

  ### 30. Sitefinity meets our needs

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joel R. | Director of Web Strategy, Higher Education, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 23, 2017

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

The ability to customize content types for our needs quickly and easily

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Not as many support options available to supplement in house development

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The ability to run a decentralized web content operation with many subject matter experts responsible for their own content

  ### 31. Great out of the box functionality with the ability to easily customize

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aubrey R. | Website Administrator, Government Administration, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 01, 2017

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Sitefinity is very easy to use and provides solid design options and features out of the box. More experienced developers can also easy get in and customize the site to fit specific needs.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

We have always struggled with updates - though this is possibly a result of our own error somewhere along the way as we customized the site.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Recent updates have really made Sitefinity a great CMS to work with. It provides a lot out of the box, and if you have a background in .Net and / or are comfortable using Visual Studio, you can easily implement your own customization.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Sitefinity for our main website, it allows us to easily and stylistically get information out to our residents. When used correctly (using metadata and special publishing features) it really improves efficiency for our public information department.

  ### 32. Sitefinity CMS

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shannon W. | System Administrator, Civic & Social Organization, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

I liked the easy of implementation and customization of the product. Also it was well maintained with updates and releases.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

If anything it would have been the documentation. Although it was available it could have been a be more descriptive and the samples could have been more advanced use cases.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I single CMS to host our sites, as well provide integration with Analytics.

  ### 33. Robust and reliable solution for managing website

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Warren B. | Front End Web Developer, Oil & Energy, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 09, 2017

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

We have been using Sitefinity CMS for over 3 years. The platform has been very reliable and hasn't required us to reach out for support very often. We recently launched a redesigned version of the site and moved to a responsive layout - Sitefinity has allowed us to add custom modules etc. while remaining at it's core a stable and solid way to manage our website content.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

The UI. While recent versions of the platform have made improvements, the UI still feels behind the curve. The layout can be confusing and overly complex at times. And it's not responsive - when other solutions such as WordPress are. The learning curve for new content managers is a little steep. Better documentation and user guides for beginners would help with this.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We need a CMS that is stable, flexible and easy to use. Sitefinity has for the most part hit the mark.

  ### 34. Full-featured yet easy-to-use CMS with strong back-end infrastructure

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Real Estate | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 24, 2017

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

- Robust drag-and-drop page editing and custom modules have allowed editors of varying technical abilities to maintain a high level of content management.
- Multi-site management crucial in our restructuring efforts of multiple business units across dozens of sites. Shared resources (template, modules, etc) have supported standardization and efficiencies whenever applicable.
- Custom modules and data integrations have allowed for a high level of customization and automation.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Site synchronization in the multi-site environment has had limitations when filtering content changes on a per-site basis. However, recent versions have remedies this greatly.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Test out the page layout and widget feature to fully appreciate the power and ease-of-use for both technical and non-technical users.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

What business problems are you solving?
- Modernizing and standardizing web presence across multiple business units.
- Increasing data integration with ERP and other systems.

What benefits have you realized?
- Increased the content management capability of our end users greatly.
- Integrated our ERP data to automate content updates in real-time.
- Standardized processes and systems across dozen of sites.

  ### 35. Easy to learn and work with. Well built, but short on features.

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Machinery | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 30, 2017

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Sitefinity CMS is very intuitive and easy to work with. Relatively easy to customize and integrate.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Short on features, especially for digital marketers. E-Commerce module is not being enhanced. Sitefinity/ROC Commerce implementation is complicated.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Test-drive it before you buy. Make sure it is right for YOUR company.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

You can literally put marketers and product managers in charge of their own content.

  ### 36. Good service

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Karinne C. | Marketing Manager, Construction, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 27, 2017

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

The convenience of having a dedicated account manager.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

I would have made more elements of our website easier to adjust and or modify. There are functionalities that should have been put into place to help our site grow with the company and changing end user needs.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Think about where you would like your website to be, not where it is currently. Make sure you implement a site that can evolve with that vision.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I want our website to work well for us by showcasing our products/services as well as be easy to navigate for potential and existing customers. I'm continually looking for ways to achieve both.

  ### 37. Fairly intuitive, easy mistakes

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 07, 2017

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

The user interface is easy to understand and navigate but it is easy to make mikatakes thatbarent fixable unless you are familiar with coding.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Provided templates weren’t enough. Need to hire third party to design templates and now have to work with them for any major changes.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Good content management

  ### 38. Great functionality and ease-of-use

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Julia S. | Creative Team Supervisor, Insurance, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 19, 2016

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Sitefiinity offered the out-of-the-box functionality we wanted. The deployment required very little custom development to meet our needs. The responsive layout features are great and allow us to easily spin up new pages. The support team is generally responsive and helpful when we encounter issues.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

With each new version, there seems to be a new batch of minor bugs. Because of this, we have to dedicate a significant amount of time to testing during each upgrade in order to identify the bugs and determine if they will impact our processes.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sitefinity allowed us to make our websites mobile-responsive and also greatly simplified the content management and creation process. Creating, managing and publishing content is very easy and can be managed entirely by our Communications department without assistance from IT.

  ### 39. Sitefinity

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2017

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Ease of use for end users. I have staff who know only word and outlook, be able to use Sitefinity to edit and manage page content.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

New licensing model, Sitefinity has slowly got rid a licensing that would support non-profit, small businesses.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Really look into ALL the features it offers and see how you can expand your business to utilize them.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Less time on website management for IT. Other departments are able to manage their own web pages and IT can focus on building the applications, services and templating of the website.

  ### 40. Nice product... Quick to deploy but can handle the complicated stuff as well.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 18, 2017

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

I like the fact that this is a REALLY simple product to setup. Out of the box there is plenty of functionality ready to go.

I REALLY like the fact that if what you see out of the box isn't enough you can easily develop additional functionality or tweak what you already see. If you can't or don't want to make the modifications yourself there are MANY people out there that know how to do this easily.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

If I had to give any negative feedback it would be the initial price. The cost for the overall package seems to be a bit high when compared to other products but when you consider the excellent support team and community it might be worth it to you.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We just needed a platform to present information for our members and advertise our membership to prospective clients. Sitefinity did this but we decided to integrate Aptify to fill in the gaps.

  ### 41. Sitefinity is the best Platform

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eric K. | President, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 08, 2017

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

The custom development options Sitefinity offers combined with ease of use for end users makes this a superb platform.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Upgrades in the past have been difficult. They seem to have improved this process lately but in early releases it was a nightmare

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Fast to market and fast edits for content.

  ### 42. Powerful and easy to use Enterprise CMS

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aaron G. | Chief Technology Officer, Construction, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 13, 2016

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Sitefinity is very flexible in how you can setup your site and what you can customize. It's a very powerful system with lots of options for plug-ins/integration. The page editing tools are robust and easy to use. The file management is easy to use as well.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

The main issues I have had with Sitefinity relate to their support. We have had several bugs or issues in the back-end that have taken a long time to fix. We haven't been able to do a platform version upgrade due to all of the projects being done. They have improved their response over the last 6 months. This is not a major issue, just something to be aware of and look for.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have used the Sitefinity platform to build out a custom Intranet site to store company tribal knowledge, as well as a Marketing search engine and a mapping application. All of these have had big business impact and have been done with a fairly low cost and quick timeline. We are very happy with Sitefinity and look forward to seeing how it grows over time!

  ### 43. Largely a good system but there are some issues

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jason T. | Senior .NET Developer, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 13, 2016

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

As a CMS Sitefinity is really good, there is a great balance of off the shelf features and flexibility to do it yourself. The page creation is easy to use and my clients seem quite happy navigating round the system themselves.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

The e-commerce platform needs some serious work. We have needed to write lots of customisation to get the e-commerce module anywhere near usable for our clients and we still have a long list of basic e-commerce functionality that we still need to write.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

If you are looking forCMS that is easy to use, administer and customise to your specific requirements then Sitefinity is a great option. However if you are looking for an e-commerce solution there are other options at present which provide a better solution.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our clients that are on Sitefinity were really keen to use the personalisation that Sitefinity offers and were looking for a single system to manage the vast majority of their online activity.

  ### 44. A powerful, flexible, user friendly & complete CMS

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Akhilesh N. | Project Manager, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 13, 2016

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

The flexibility that Sitefinity offers in extending its features through custom components is really a must have for all CMSs in the market. The configurations available in Sitefinity make it one of the best CMS in developing optimized websites. The ease of use for end users to administer the site is one of the USP for SItefinity. We had to provide lot of support to users earlier for administering their sites using another CMS but with Sitefinity we have cut down that time to a single 2 hour user training session and then users have picked up site administration. The DIgital Marketing Cloud is another shot in the arm in today's digital driven world.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Some of the features like site sync have been erratic at times for us. In our sites we create a lot of custom widgets and we have faced some site sync issues

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

If you are looking for an enterprise content management system then SItefinity is a very good option. If you are an organization that develops websites for customers then you should definitely consider Sitefinity. Sitefinity will be a one stop solution for all your website development and management requirements

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We create corporate & e-marketing websites for our customers. We also provide e-commerce website solutions using Sitefinity. We feel that Sitefinity provides a lot of good features out of the box and more importantly allows customization of those features based on user requirements.

  ### 45. Great for Designers and Developers alike

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Robert G. | Web Producer, Design, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 12, 2016

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Easy to use, easy to understand, and easy to teach users how to get the most out of it. I've been creating and managing sites in SF since version 3 and even though I found it easy to use back then, it has advanced in leaps and bounds since then integrating more sought after features and fixing many of the problems earlier versions had. Project Feather was a huge step forward and I can't wait to see what comes next.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

There are a few limitations which are either difficult to get around or not possible based on what libraries SF uses and those can be pretty frustrating when you run up against them. The licensing price points also make it difficult to sell to anyone who is not a mid to enterprise level business. I understand them, it's just a hard sell.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Website design refreshes are a snap with SF's Design Template system. I can redesign the entire look and feel of a site or just sections of a site without ever interrupting the day to day operations of the site. Then when I am ready to roll out the changes, it's as simple as a few clicks. No need to set up redirects (it does it for you) so even making changes to navigation or linking in the site is all taken care of.

  ### 46. Great program that easily creates great websites

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amanda O. | Webmaster, Financial Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 12, 2017

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

It is very easy to create a great website with only the basic version of sitefinity but ability to extend the product by creating your own custom controls and widgets is where sitefinity really shines.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

The update process can some times be problematic, although recent updates have been easier.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We originally bought sitefinity so that we could handout editing rights to people across our agency while still being able to full customize our site. We were able to do both with great success.

  ### 47. MagicQuadrant enterprise content management system with the agility required for this devops age

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jochem B. | Senior Consultant, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 12, 2016

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

I continue to be impressed by their focus and determination to constantly remain on the forefront of technology by extending features to empower users and let developers focus on development with great ui components, web services and great developer and support community.

With its mixture of both modern (angular/mvc) and trusted (microsoft .net) technology stacks they continue to be the most logical enterprise choice when looking for a solution that bridges silo's and it remains a perfect fit when looking for a solution that spans internal collaboration (sharepoint) web and mobile.

Development continues to be a breeze compared to other cms systems, allowing me to use VS Code, or VisualStudio with full TFS integration with automated build-test-and-deploy and stick to industry best-practices and tools.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

A lot of dislikes have already been addressed with the v9 features and functionalities released in the last few months. But if one has to name dislikes, there's no consolidated/open market-place with a great number of 3rd party components and integrations available at the moment.

More insights into the road map would be great to have in order to anticipate when developing custom integrations.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Watch one or two of their recorded webinars that showcase the cms and its core features, then grab a 30-day sandbox trial to play around or download a trial yourself if you want to install and develop locally. Reach out to the community members with your questions or contact their sales team directly and you'll see why it moved up in the new MagicQuadrant for ECM and why this is the defacto choice for a .net technology cms for the digital transformation age.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've used Sitefinity primarily as a enterprise content management system as a single-repository for content authoring across integrated system, where data from external systems (like kiosks, mobile apps, web applications) is attributed with Sitefinity data but also as an intermediate between sharepoint intranets and mobile applications.

This allowed us to achieve great benefits for the clients in terms of lowering content duplication and presentation of out-dated content and it has greatly reduced development time for stand-alone mobile/web applications that can now take advantage of authorization, workflows and consistent content management.

  ### 48. Sitefinity has been a love hate relationship over the last 10 years.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mark B. | Board Member, Board of Directors, Internet, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 07, 2016

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Support has been great to work with, but the time zone differences and timeliness of responses has been tough.
We really like the custom modules functionality and use it heavily.
Very easy to translate content
Templating system is getting much better including well know css frameworks like Bootstrap (not reinventing the wheel is good)

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Upgrades have never worked the first time on the any of the sites we have upgraded.
I wish there was more of a focus on improving the core
Pricing is spiraling out of control (remember the $895 pro version back in the day?) Now it's 15K per domain to add on to our enterprise license.
Licensing seems to change on a very regular basis, and the turnover of employees in sales seems to be a revolving door. I get emails from

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Headed in the right direction, but please focus on your core product. Be aware of cost increases. Have seen this dramatically increase in the last 5 years.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are building global dealer portals and public sites, and the benefits are many. Here are a few:

Easy translation of content
Being out in Azure we can easily load balance
Shared content between many sites
We don't really use other features like newsletter, ecommerce, and DEC yet, as there are other players in the market that specialize in this, so we feel it muddies up the product. (maybe some more acquisitions?)

  ### 49. Solid CMS System

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Darrell W. | Principal, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 05, 2016

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

I like the ease of being able to edit pages, move/rename pages and also change small layout items by using the layout feature of the editor. I also like that Sitefinity is very extensible, being built with SQL server and ASP.net.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

It is fairly complex to go beyond simple editing and minor layout changes. You need programming skills to set up templates (unless you use built in ones) and to make changes. Also the price, I feel that the cost is pretty substantial for smaller clients/smaller sites.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

I would recommend this CMS for larger, more complex websites. For smaller websites the solution is just too expensive to implement. In the past, Sitefinity offered the Small Business Edition which would work for smaller sites and smaller clients. They have discontinued that version so the cost of entry now is more than a lot of smaller businesses can undertake. For smaller clients, we are back using open source CMS because of this move by Sitefinity. Like so many software companies, Sitefinity is moving to the "enterprise" model and leaving the small business behind. So for smaller sights with a tight budget, I cannot recommend Sitefinity. But for larger clients and more complex projects, Sitefinity is a good choice.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Been able to help clients with Intranets and integration to client systems through Sitefinity. The benefits have been robust solutions that help my clients.

  ### 50. An application with far too many revisions in too small a time-frame

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Terri G. | Digital Project Manager, Entertainment, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 05, 2016

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Who wouldn't like a robust CMS? With a plethora of templates and features, this tool has a lot to offer. For users who don't need to overhaul a template, or like our case... modify Master Pages, this tool should suffice. However, if you are required to go down that rabbit hole, be prepared to deal with poorly organized CSS content and a convoluted mess of templates and dependent files.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

With the exhaustive revision cycle, this application churns out entirely new version numbers 2-3 times per year. Our somewhat basic site was left in the stone-age (version 3.4) in 3 years. Revisiting it for updates, we were forced to either set up and entirely new server to migrate the site up to version 9.x or just move it to our own server for hosting and drop the CMS entirely.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

If you are working within the constraints of the tool, you'll likely not have problems. Also, whether you're actively updating content or not, stay on top of CMS version changes or you'll rapid be left out to dry when the CMS begins to fail.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The larger portion of our organization wanted a simple solution to hosting and updating their website, so this tool was chosen as the home for that site. This tool was initially chosen so we could build out the base site and hand it back for others to make updates, however, those changes always ended up being done by a developer due to tweaks frequently needed on master pages.

**Official Response from Kelsey Schuering:**

> Hi Terri - thank you for providing us with feedback. We take comments very seriously and use them to help us improve in the future. I'm sorry to hear you may not be enjoying your experience with us. I'd love to assist you in having a more enjoyable experience. If you're interested, please reach out to me via email at kschueri@progress.com  to discuss. Have a great day!
