## About Progress Sitefinity
Progress Sitefinity is a cloud-first content management system (CMS) and digital experience platform (DXP) used to build, manage and personalize websites, portals and other digital properties. It is adopted by mid-market and enterprise organisations that operate multi-site, multilingual or regulated digital estates and need to balance marketing autonomy with IT governance and developer flexibility. Primary use cases include corporate websites, member and customer portals, authenticated experiences, integration-heavy workflows and consolidation of fragmented CMS deployments. Sitefinity supports marketing, development and IT teams through a shared platform model with role-appropriate tools and permissions. Key capabilities include: - Multisite, multilingual and multi-brand management with governance controls and workflows - Native customer data platform (Sitefinity Insight) for segmentation, analytics and personalization - 1,000+ prebuilt connectors and open APIs, Sitefinity Cloud platform integrates with your MarTech stack, CRM and enterprise systems in hours—not weeks - Extensibility using .NET and ASP.NET Core for custom development and composable architectures Sitefinity also incorporates generative and retrieval-augmented capabilities through Progress® Agentic RAG, enabling dynamic assembly of experiences from approved content to reduce manual production work while maintaining accuracy, compliance and brand standards. Additional operational benefits and deployment considerations: - Standardization and consolidation of CMS estates across business units or regions - Support for marketing, development and IT workflows without requiring a headless-only approach - Structured content for regulated or high-volume publishing environments - Deployment on-premises or as a managed cloud service on Microsoft Azure, reducing maintenance and providing security, scaling and compliance

Out of the box the number of components available is great. Content management is simple and initiative. The ability to build complex things with the default tools is amazing.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

If the default tools don't meet your needs developing custom controls requires a bit of work and research to get right.

The price of this tool can often be a challenge compared to open source options but the quality and ease of use with this product can create great value.

The greatest benefit is that with minimal training you can give normal users access to this tool to edit the content without the need to know a lot of HTML, CSS, javascript, etc.

  ### 14. Great CMS. Even better with .NET Development

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** October 08, 2020

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Sitefinity makes it easy to create customizations using the .NET framework.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

The ADFS integration is a fairly recent addition and is not as intuitive to use as it could be.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

If engaging third party help to customize Sitefinity, double check the quality of the code provided. It's very easy to hide poor quality work in the code files that won't become apparent until much later.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our previous CMS was very old and difficult to work with. Sitefinity has given our users a modern interface and our developers the ability to add the customizations that our business requires.

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

I really like the products, but what really got me was the team! The Sitefinity personnel are outstanding.

Find a good partner to help implement and train your team. Keep them involved throughout the implementation.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Provide a set of tools and a framework for the digital marketing team to be able to independently manage the company's website.

  ### 19. Progress Sitefinity CMS

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2020

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

My favorite feature of Progress Sitefinity CMS is that it doesn't put any constraints on my designs. Since it uses .NET MVC I have complete control over the markup sent to the browser. Creating a responsive website that adapts to smartphones, tablets and desktop screens was incredibly easy and didn't require any proprietary tools, just standards-compliant HTML and CSS.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

The only complaint I have is related to the licensing. I would like to be able to add more back-end users but I am limited by the license edition, the only way to increase the number of back-end users is to upgrade to a higher license edition, which is costly, because it adds additional features which we will not use.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Utilizing Sitefinity's extendable custom modules allowed us to create custom content types which we can expose to additional web apps we manage using the built-in Web Services. This has allowed our Communications Dept. to manage the messaging displayed to users of these web apps with little to no involvement of our IT dept. Prior to implementing Sitefinity we would have to submit the updated content to IT, they would have to add it to the web app templates and then re-deploy the app. Now, it's simply a matter of creating the content, assigning the corresponding category or meta-data and publishing the content!

  ### 20. An easy to use and feature rich CMS - Sitefinity!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alex H. | CTO, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 19, 2020

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

We have implemented Sitefinity as the CMS of choice for various website projects. One of the huge considerations we have when choosing a CMS for our clients is the ease of use and the capability to integrate with external (3rd Party) systems easily. Sitefinity ticks both those boxes. It is extremely easy to use for our clients but still gives our developers the ability to customize where we need it. When used with the Digital Experience Cloud (DEC) that progress offers, it's an excellent marketing tool - top to bottom. We also evaluated the cost of Sitefinity against some other solutions and for the license and implementation fees, it was a no-brainer. Other CMS systems costing 2-4x as much could not compare.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

The customer/vendor community is small, so there are limited options outside of Progress for support. This will get better over time, but it is to be noted.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Work with the page editor and the back end of the system - see how you like it compared to other Content Management Systems. Does it feel like everything is organized naturally where it should be? pages under pages, content under content, marketing in the marketing menu? If you can do some tasks, without a manual or instructions - that is a good sign. At the end of the day, most of these CMSs are using the same underlying code (ASP.Net) - it's the user interface how easy to use for the end-user that will make a huge impact on the ROI. It also helps that you will have happy users and fewer support tickets!

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Empowering our cusomters and clients to update their own websites. Reducing support calls/tickets so we can focus on developing great solutions for our customers.

  ### 21. Initial steep learning curve for back end development but works great

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tim S. | Owner, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 17, 2020

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

The tech support response and knowledgebase Sitefinity provides helps a lot with setup and development. The documentation is thorough and some of the video tutorials are helpful.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Documentation is not updated as frequently for use cases found in the knowledgebase. Learning curve can be steep for back end development. Training for front end users can be difficult for most users with no technical background or CMS experience. Upgrading old Sitefinity projects can be a pain when troubleshooting errors (errors can be unique or related to each environment, such as windows server version, IIS version, .net and configs etc).

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Must have the time to learn or implement the system to customize it to your liking. If you already have products that are using .NET, C#, or MVC this product will be easy for you to implement. Must have some knowledge in .NET, IIS, and Windows SQL.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Custom migration of data from different CMS, personalization, dynamic content development and SSO authentication implementation. Sitefinity provides a lot of APIs to use and a lot of code samples. Their Github repository helped a lot but troubleshooting some proprietary Sitefinity methods may be difficult without actually seeing the code.

  ### 22. Great CMS For Mid-Large Business

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jerry v. | Sales Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 18, 2018

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

The Sitefinity GUI is very friendly, and easy on the eyes. This makes it an easy platform to use for hours. The layout of all the capabilities is also very intuitive.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Some of the previewing capabilities while one is working on a page are very basic. This doesn't allow one to visualize the final result of how a widget will be rendered.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

It is a very powerful tool, so make sure that you have the need for it. The different licencing levels also allow for some more advanced capabilities like personalization and multi-site management. It can get you many of the higher end features without a lot of deployment complexity. Don't consider this if you have ecommerce needs, it's an area of functionality that Progress is receding.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sitefinity is the CMS for our corporate site (smartercommerce.net), but our organization also partners with Progress Software to provide Sitefinity CMS as the front end to our JD Edwards integrated ecommerce solution. However, I am a user of the software, because I manage the corporate site.

  ### 23. Sitefinity CMS - A Powerful Tool for your Ecommerce Site

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alex R. | Technical Services Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 17, 2020

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Sitefinity CMS provide an easy to user interface to manage and design you website content. As a sofware partner we were able to easily create Widget content to enhance the capabilities of the sites we deliver. The documentation provided is among the best I have seen for any software product!

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

The only downside to Sitefinity CMS is performance of initial page loading.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our company has been able to use Sitefinity CMS to design a powerful front end solution for our customer's Ecommerce B2B and B2C sites. Sitefinity has allowed us to quickly get sites up and running and leaves the customer will a powerful tool to continue enhancing their site.

  ### 24. Very complete solution

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jose G. | Senior Software Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 12, 2016

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

The fact that Sitefinity already includes so much functionality plus providing developers with everything to build custom implementations is just fantastic. Being able to use Visual Studio to customize it even further is excellent. We have been able to add custom modules easily, modify existing ones and even add 3rd party components to enrich the experience for CSRs and customers.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

It is somewhat slow when launched for the first time. It was very frustrating when Progress announced they would retire the e-commerce module in favor of 3rd party solutions, however, the existing e-commerce functionality still works even with the newer versions so that hasn't really affected much, but there won't be no new features added. Finally, they have a multitude of tables and lack documentation on them to troubleshoot issues.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Make sure to evaluate all the modules of the product to be able to make an informed decision when purchasing. Adding modules later is not technically challenging but licensing wise could get expensive. This is a software built with Microsoft .NET technologies so also ensure you have the resources to support the development and customization of the product.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our customers in the healthcare industry benefit by being able to integrate their internal systems with Sitefinity to provide the public with a robust system to present their information. We have a custom module for CSRs where they can help their customers with events and class registrations. They can even impersonate them to complete their registrations and payments.

  ### 25. Easy use and customization

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2020

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Easy use of sitefinity objects in backend

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Customization in wizards can be little hard

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Consider the work will require customs modules and customization in the frontend vs the cost.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Full CMS for an health institution

  ### 26. Senior Project Manager

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** October 07, 2020

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

flexibility to leverage the application and customize as needed

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

licensing fees associated and the benefit/value associated don't seem to equal

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

great flexibility with the site being enterprise. we find that we are able to leverage the admin for both large and small projects. DOUBAFOUBAFoubefoubwefoeubwefooubweofubb

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

security as a priority, enterprise level solution for customization

  ### 27. User Friendly + Intuitive

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2020

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Variety of modules to customize pages in development and the ease of image library organization. Working within a CMS system was a new learning for myself. Once I became more familiar, I realized how user friendly Sitefinity is and allowed for greater understanding of its flexibility and capabilities overall.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Minor aspects like formatting text within modules.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Benefits definitely consist of the ease of editing or developing new content almost in real time to go live.

  ### 28. Amazing features. Powerful extensibility. Easy to use Interface

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sean P. | Software Development Director, Non-Profit Organization Management, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 12, 2016

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

I really appreciate the user interface that makes it easy to build new pages, drag content modules into them, and architect the structure of the site and the configuration options needed.

As a developer, it was relatively easy to add new custom components for end users to work with, as well as leverage the existing web service architecture in order to create custom services for my needs.

Documentation was very helpful in adding new customizations or working with existing modules (blog, users, etc.) of the platform.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

The CodeSync tool that is available needs a lot of work. It seems like it's versioning does not play nicely when you're using code stored in bitbucket or when you have a muti-user team working and deploying updates. Ultimately I went back to using a simple "xcopy deploy" method.

Documentation for advanced coding needs (such as custom user widgets) was lacking and a lot of trial and error was needed to accomplish what was briefly mentioned in documentation. More coding examples for those would be helpful.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Make sure you have your site architecture and layouts in mind before digging deep so you can easily plug in your custom components once you get started. Take advantage of the new "Feather" platform/module that has been released that allows you to build Bootstrap based components within the site.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used Sitefinity to create a fresh looking site for a customer that made it easy to modify content and reorganize the large amount of pages they had. I used the custom widgets and modules to tie in to a third party database of the clients and render dynamic content to end users.

  ### 29. Great enterprise level CMS

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Judiciary | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 20, 2020

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Easy for anyone to add and manage content

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Upgrade process is tricky, but support is there to help

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Start with a vanilla setup and customize slowly. So much is there out of the box

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Takes a load off of the IT team when users can easily perform their own updates and changes.

  ### 30. Happy Customer

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Machinery | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 18, 2020

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Custom Modules with I Sitefinity has made our life easier when we display our products and services that we provide. I also like the easiness in developing or customizing the existing components of Sitefinity using .NET code. The documentation available for the product is useful as a developer and end user

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

MVC Widget template customization is not easy. I would like to see it easily done from the widget itself rather than going to a separate section for widget templates. I do not like the ecommerce portion being deprecated from Sitefinity and forcing us to use 3rd party tools for ecommerce. I would encourage Progress to relook and still provide and support their inbuilt ecommerce module for ease of customers when they use it for smaller / simple product catalog

  ### 31. Exceptional Product

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Insurance | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 07, 2020

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

As a non-developer, the CMS in Sitefinity is robust and useful, especially when utilizing the personalization functionality for our wide variety of end users. In learning about the digital experience platform products (DEC), we're excited to begin learning of the core functionalities and capabilities to improve the usability for our users.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Going from basic CMS platforms to Sitefinity can be a little overwhelming in the beginning. In my case, I think it was because of lack of training.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Top of the line product with great support. Obviously every use case is different and Progress and their vendors know that, so you'll get a true understanding of the system and the customization for your team from the get-go.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's led to an improved experience for our users that allows us to only show them what pertains to them from one back end system. We are now moving into the DEC of Sitefinity and it's showing us that we can better learn about our users and provide an even better experience than they are getting today.

  ### 32. Allows users to update pages

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mike P. | Network Services Administrator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 23, 2020

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

The ability to give others access for updates. Not having to wait for developers to update all of our pages is huge.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Not being able to remove domains that are no longer in use.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

there are many more choices now than when we made the move. But Sitefinity does everything we've asked of it and is not a burden to maintain.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ability to quickly get sites up and allow users to do their own updates removes any delays that we had in the past. Users are in control. Outside of that it just works and doesn't require a lot of administrative maintenance. This frees up time for other tasks.

  ### 33. Great start to Sitefinity integration!

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 03, 2020

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Love the easy to use CMS which makes life simple.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

I think the module structure is a little tight. Helps keep things standardized, but a bit rigid.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

New e-commerce features to our site which we didn't have previously!

  ### 34. Sitefinity is a top-tier CMS

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David M. | Web Coordinator/Developer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 04, 2016

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

ASP.NET/C# framework
Module Builder
Sitefinity API
Scaleability and Reliability
Hierarchical management of objects
Allows extensive management and creation of content by non-developers
Great customer support
Very user friendly

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Some modules, such as Campaigns, don't allow as much customization of the backend view

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Best CMS out there for .NET based environments. Handles everything I throw at it. Customer support is great and always helpful.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sitefinity integration with external data sources- the Sitefinity API makes this very easy. The module builder makes developing and fielding a new content type and business process, very easy.

  ### 35. Intuitive CMS but there'll be a learning curve (for some programmers)

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 13, 2020

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Compared to other CMSs I've used in the past, Sitefinity was relatively easy-to-learn and configure. Getting content published is easy, plus getting support with both Progress and my dev vendor is fantastic.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Documentation could be more concise and easier to read. I'm on version 10.2, and it's not the fastest, especially when it comes to syncing to the production environment.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The time savings in deploying complex web designs quickly can't be underestimated.

  ### 36. Sitefinity has been a very flexible, easy to adopt CMS.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Banking | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 05, 2019

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

I like the flexibility and simplicity of creating pages along with the myriad of features like lists, news, content blocks, custom fields and widgets. It's modular, fast, and reliable.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Upgrading a series of 6 servers in succession at the moment - we're working on determining the best way to upgrade all the servers, one after another, times six. For multiple instances of Sitefniity, the upgrade process is not my favorite aspect.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

If you're going to go in-house implementation have the server resources to manage Sitefinity. Multiple servers brings in complexity that needs to be managed from the implementation to future upgrade ability. Consider using a third party vendor or a cloud-based Sitefinity solution if you're networking/server team is on the thin side.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Very few if any problems - I believe one time we had a DB fail due to allocated disk space, and possibly a few times needing to restart the application pool, less issues than I could count on one had for the past 4 years.

  ### 37. Good software

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Henry Z. | DBA, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 26, 2019

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

We have used Sitefinity as our web site for two years and are very happy with the performance. The backend setup are complicated until you fully read through the documents or guide to understand. Once they are set, you barely touch them again. It is also a stable software that we have not seen any major issues regarding broken functionaries.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

customer support has low responding time when an issue arrives it takes 24 hour for someone to review and initially contact you back for more information.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sitefinity structure allows administrators to set up a web page (maybe time consuming at first, but worth it) and to the contents to clients to maintain any data or changes.

  ### 38. Great reliable partner!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sergio N. | Marketing Associate, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 04, 2020

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

I like the flexibility it has that allows one to build an optimal website.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

I would prefer if it had a bit more functionality.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

This solution is a great one to consider when looking for a reliable CMS.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I help solve the CMS challenges customers may have and I have realized it goes hand in hand with our product.

  ### 39. Intuitive Product | Great Value for Price

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Banking | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 28, 2020

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Sitefinity is intuitive and easy to learn. Once our software partner worked with us on customizations and implementation, my team and I were able to immediately begin using at a basic level with minimal training.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Some of the WYIWYG features not working quite as we expected. Believe this is more a function of customizations, but not sure.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We had massive issues with setup internally of our prior CMS and unwillingness to help by the product vendor. Benefits are great customer service and issues resolved.

  ### 40. Easy to use and full of features!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 17, 2020

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Vast amounts of documentation for installation and issues along with easy to use widgets. Upgrades and patches can be applied easily and effeciently.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Site initialization or boot up is a bit slow when changes are made to the config or an iis reset is done.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

If you are looking for a tool to maintain and manage your content management with flexible and quick customizations then Sitefinity is the one for you.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being able to integrate customers systems with Sitefinity and provide them with a feature rich site where they can easily modify content with ease.

  ### 41. Sitefinity Review for Non-Technical Users

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ruben M. | Web Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 12, 2020

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

MultiSite Add-On, Site Site and Drag and Drop widget

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

No Website Templates or Themes available

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

It is important to understand Sitefinity's Capabilities as it will be very helpful in rolling out your websites.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ability to have multiple websites using one solution and being able to share content across all websites.

  ### 42. Sitefinity Review

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 25, 2020

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

I like the feature to save a page as a draft but still have the ability to have the page still published. WordPress lacks this feature and it makes it difficult to make changes without altering any live environment

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

The community in sitefinity issue or problems is smaller compared to people who use Wordpress. If there was a bigger community I would have been able to solve and discuss more issues

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are solving issues providing content and resources for our members. We are a nonprofit that helps provide resources and information to Facility Managers. One of the benefits of Sitefinity is that it organizes our content and is super fast and lightweight.

  ### 43. Consistent and Reliable

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

I like the ability to customize the editors and change what functions do to create HTML on the backend. This makes it easy for me to create the experience which is easiest for my users, the most autonomous, and the fewest amount of retraining and support hours from the administrators.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

The CMS creates a lot of .axd references in the executed code which slows down page speed; but we still have ~4s real-world site-wide averages. To get it lower, we would have to limit the number of .axd references and we don't know how to do that.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With pageload speeds becoming more important to user experiences, it would be nice to see tools specifically related to measuring and improving this.

  ### 44. Sitefinity CMS or Intelligent Management System (IMS)

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David R. | Managing Director & Principle Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Coding ability. Possible to code complex solutions allowing for granular and detailed exactness.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Speed of startup is a bit of a grind, and speed of operation can hinder speed of development. Might be offset by functional features.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Learn to customise and control. There i slittle you cannot do with Sitefinity as a Web Solution.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Simple webdesign so far. Not enough time to delve past the proof of concept stage with one of my projects.

  ### 45. Sitefinity is a user friendly tool with a few ups and downs

**Reviewed by:** Gordon P. | Application Team Lead, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

We use Sitefinity for our main website as well as microsites' content management. We like the ease of use of content creation by various staff across the enterprise.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

It is robust. Make full use of the software.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Enterprise-wide website content management has improved quite a lot.

  ### 47. All around solid platform ...

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Sitefinity is an all around solid platform; however, like many CMS options it is a bit pricey ...

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sitefinity has been the Go To CMS solution for our clients over the past 13 years

  ### 48. After Years of an Old Static Web Site

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chris C. | System Architect/Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 24, 2019

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

After years of maintaining and old static web site that was not fit for mobile we upgraded to a CMS.
We looked at the free open source products, but they lacked commercial support.
We needed a product that had most of the CMS aspects built-in, and was easy to configure.
Sitefinity hit a sweet spot for us, it is very cost effective and was easy to stand up in the Azure cloud. The cloud support was so important, as we no longer wanted to have the servers on premise. The fact that it was built on .NET gave us a fast track because we had a lot of experience with IIS and .NET. Sitefinity is a very mature product with a long support history. If you Google Sitefinity you will see what I mean. Never under estimate the need for support. Sitefinity has quite a few business partners to help deploy and maintain your site. Our initial site design and build was done by a web content creator company. They had never worked with the product; because Sitefinity is built with web standards they were able to build our site with their current skills. We have been running Sitefinity for 4 years and we have experience zero downtime. There are many modules built in to support common web site features like documents libraries, comments, form data collection, security, administration, etc..

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Some areas that we feel could be improved are around upgrades and deployment. Sitefinity is backed by a SQL database that has to be upgraded for each new version. When you have a build pipeline that includes QA sites this can be tricky. In the end you have to maintain separate databases and manage the connection strings for each environment. The other downside is having to manage a .NET solution and be able to build and deploy. It takes a very experienced .NET developer to handle this. However you have total control, but at a cost of complexity. The other downside is it is .NET (full framework), it can feel bloated and very large and slow to work with. As most .NET developers know, .aspx pages are very bad at cold start. You will need to warm the site to make it work at acceptable speeds.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Make sure you have the expertise with .NET or have a business partner lined up.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest bank for the buck is handing the day to day ownership and maintenance of our web site, the business takes full ownership. I cannot stress this enough, IT should not own what marketing or customer services knows best. The business can move at their speed.

  ### 49. Happy Director of Digital Solutions

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Leisure, Travel & Tourism | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 26, 2019

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Our current site is beautiful, designed well and modern, and engages users, usually sites likes these require alot of technical people on staff to maintain. Not so is the case with Sitefinity, the site has been architected so that admin backend is easy to manage and is simple enough for our content authors/designers to update. Data is organized well and intuitive backend makes it easy to train others on how to manage content. Also the workflows and approval processes can be defined to prevent mistakes from being posted online. Permissions can be defined to limit beginners and novice users from messing up the site.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Updates requires to update in the staging/dev environments. Would like it to auto update or one click update, and be able to revert updates if needed.

Also wish the user community would share more knowledge and custom modules/plugins/themes to the rest of the user base.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

really good CMS, that is highly configurable and provides what you want from a CMS, ease of use, low maintenance, good support

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our public website can be kept up to date and current without hiring/waiting for developers/contractors or technical staff.
