## About Progress Sitefinity
Progress Sitefinity is a cloud-first content management system (CMS) and digital experience platform (DXP) used to build, manage and personalize websites, portals and other digital properties. It is adopted by mid-market and enterprise organisations that operate multi-site, multilingual or regulated digital estates and need to balance marketing autonomy with IT governance and developer flexibility. Primary use cases include corporate websites, member and customer portals, authenticated experiences, integration-heavy workflows and consolidation of fragmented CMS deployments. Sitefinity supports marketing, development and IT teams through a shared platform model with role-appropriate tools and permissions. Key capabilities include: - Multisite, multilingual and multi-brand management with governance controls and workflows - Native customer data platform (Sitefinity Insight) for segmentation, analytics and personalization - 1,000+ prebuilt connectors and open APIs, Sitefinity Cloud platform integrates with your MarTech stack, CRM and enterprise systems in hours—not weeks - Extensibility using .NET and ASP.NET Core for custom development and composable architectures Sitefinity also incorporates generative and retrieval-augmented capabilities through Progress® Agentic RAG, enabling dynamic assembly of experiences from approved content to reduce manual production work while maintaining accuracy, compliance and brand standards. Additional operational benefits and deployment considerations: - Standardization and consolidation of CMS estates across business units or regions - Support for marketing, development and IT workflows without requiring a headless-only approach - Structured content for regulated or high-volume publishing environments - Deployment on-premises or as a managed cloud service on Microsoft Azure, reducing maintenance and providing security, scaling and compliance

I wish there is more documentation and tutorial available to help technical users guide when there are technical challenges.

  ### 3. Great Product

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** John C. | Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 24, 2022

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Easy to use. I can separate the programming logic from the static HTML.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

I do not have any issues with Progress Sitefinity.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

None

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This product is great when it comes to SOC.

  ### 4. If you are an asp.net developer, this is the CMS for you.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Corbett E. | Director, Information Technology, Construction, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 04, 2016

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

As a .net developer, it is easy to modify and extend this CMS. Powerful media gallery for storing images. Page versioning, preview before save, and all of the regular features you'd expect from a modern CMS.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

The lack of professionally developed themes/skins makes creating a new site somewhat of a burden. The 3rd party marketplace isn't as extensive as some PHP CMS.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Backed by a well-known brand with a strong technical support team. Make sure to continue with your maintenance contract as critical security fixes are unavailable without it.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Building a corporate website that can pull custom data from internal MS SQL systems is easy to do. Does not require PHP, as we know PHP on Windows is not stable.

  ### 5. Sitefinity provides a beautiful UI that is easy to manage

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Insurance | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

The look and feel of the customer facing UI.
It is easy to update content on our website.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Some customizations tend to be too complex

**Official Response from Maria Sweeney:**

  ### 6. Sitefinity experience

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rich B. | Senior Graphic Designer & Web Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2022

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Great UI for managing page content and document translations.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Could use a better workflow for managing and exporting form responses.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The publishing workflows are a key part of our business processes.

  ### 7. Easy to extend CMS

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matt P. | QA Lead, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 04, 2016

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

It's highly customizable and pretty decent in performance department. Relatively easy to perform operations via API.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

A bit challenging to automate. Lots of features are not out of the box and have to be requested. Should be a bit easier to manage providers i.e. for images or documents.
A bit hard to split database into separate entities i.e. one for revision history storage and the other for regular operations. But overall a good product.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Consider splitting document and image providers into separate databases or other entities. Consider cloud from start and a deployment process that does not require large precompilation packages.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Managing multiple languages, translations.
Scheduled publications across multiple sites.

  ### 8. The most user-friendly CMS

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Saumitra M. | Assistant Vice President - Digital Investment Solutions, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

The simplicity with which I can perform tasks in the backend. The interface is minimalistic and sleek. I can achieve most of the functions with a simple drag-and-drop. The best part of the CMS is the level of control I can have on the accessibility of the backend modules.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

It tends to get slower at times, especially with the module builder. Also, whenever there is an error displayed, it looks too technical and is not that helpful to the end-user. On the Marketing Automation front, Sitefinity has a lot to catch up with the market leaders in the segment.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

I would recommend Sitefinity if you are looking for a CMS that is faster to rollout, simple to use and want to give your business users better control over what your customers see on your digital properties.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sitefinity has time and again helped me deliver websites much faster. Plus, the most significant benefit I had realized was to shift the control of website content management from the technical team to the content owners. Sitefinity is one of the few CMS platforms I have come across that makes it so easy for non-technical users to work with the content.

  ### 9. Sitefinity is a progress web site development software package.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 07, 2022

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Easy of use and the ability to add/remove and change content.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

I was not too fond of the fact that I could only have one point of contact from my group.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sitefinity allows us to make quick changes to our customer's sites.

**Official Response from Maria Sweeney:**

> Thank you for sharing your feedback on Progress Sitefinity! We're thrilled to hear that you find it easy to use and appreciate the flexibility it offers for content management. We understand your concern about having only one point of contact and would love to learn more about your experience to see how we can improve in this area. Please feel free to reach out to our support team so we can address this issue and ensure a smoother experience for you. We're glad to hear that Sitefinity is helping you make quick changes to your customer's sites. Thank you for choosing Progress Sitefinity!

  ### 10. review from a CMS back end developer

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Airlines/Aviation | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 25, 2022

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

translation workflow
content publish unpublish workflow

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

the performance of the website is slower when you use a lot of languages
I'm missing from the translation workflow an API based connector

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

In the beginning, you should not split the database by culture because in the future it can cause low performance

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

a lot of development issues

  ### 11. Flexible, Powerful and Easy to Integrate

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Juan G. | Director of Marketing, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 28, 2021

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Sitefinity's best feature is it's ability balance customization and out of the box functions when building or migrating a website. They also offer great support which is offered in a few tier options.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

There aren't as many pre-supported 3rd party connectors as other CRMs, like Wordpress for example which has an extensive list of apps you can easily integrate. Most of your tools will need to be integrated with the help of development resources.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sitefinity allows marketers an easy to use platform to make small to medium-level changes to your website thanks to its WYSIWYG drag and drop editing for web pages. Depending on your comfort level with HTML you can also add code blocks which are helpful if you want to quickly test something out.

  ### 12. Sitefinity Product Review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** George B. | IT Systems Architect, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 25, 2021

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

I like that the product uses a database on the back-end. I like how customizable the product is. Our web developers are able to integrate custom code into the Sitefinity project. This supports our ability to include e-commerce components, customer support options, and content that is tailored to each individual customer. I also have had excellent success when using Sitefinity support services.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

I think the product has a steep learning curve for both the end-user and the IT technician. In other words, several things aren't very intuitive when creating content. In addition, many configuration options are difficult to find for the IT technician. I wish there were a better path to upgrade to newer versions of the software. When upgrading to a newer version, the process is not intuitive and easy to understand. Additionally, if there is any custom content, this can introduce difficulty when upgrading Sitefinity to a newer version. I also found it difficult moving the database to a new server and migrating the Sitefinity project to new servers (when upgrading from an older operating system to a newer operating system, for example Windows Server 2012 to Windows Server 2019).

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

I would recommend comparing several content management systems when considering Sitefinity. That process will highlight the strengths of Sitefinity and help with the decision to purchase.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sitefinity deploys using a modular format. Employees can make a single change, and that change pushes to multiple areas throughout the website. Using a modular design minimizes the time needed to make changes in various sections, which results in faster changes and a lower cost.

  ### 13. Capable and Cost Effective CMS Solution

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Zane K. | Programmer Analyst, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 24, 2021

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

1. Ability to design and customize C# MVC widgets.
2. Sales team is responsive and easy to work with.
3. Templates are highly customizable and intuitive to work with.
4. Integrated well with our current architecture.
5. Easily deployed using Azure DevOps.
6. Database administration essentially off-loaded to the platform.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

1. Long build times lead to prolonged intervals of "watching gears spin" during development.
2. Technical support was adequate but could be slow to respond when faced with advanced technical questions or issues.
3. Counterintuitive layout in some page editing environments can lead to a poor user experience.
4. Lack of consistent workflows created issues when migrating ownership to Communications team.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

1. Deeply understand the use case for the product and be aware that customization requires C# MVC widget development.
2. Be prepared for the need to provide your javascript workarounds for some issues that the vendor has not addressed.
3. Consider utilizing vendor training, if available at the time of purchase

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1. Legally required to provide a WCAG 2.0 compliant website.
2. Needed a cost-effective solution that delivered value to our user community.
3. Decent developer experience with at least a couple of years of C#.
4. Ability to remove IT from the workflow after design and development of the initial website.

  ### 14. Progress Sitefinity is outstanding

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Government Administration | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2021

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

My day-to-day tasks are simplified using Sitefinity. Managing our web site's content is much easier now. It is easy to navigate and adjust to using. We have a lot of users that are not developers, and Sitefinity makes it easy for them to manage content on our site flawlessly.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

The least helpful thing about Progress Sitefinity is finding resources when troubleshooting an issue. The documentation is poorly written and uninclusive.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Having a mixture of jobs/roles that use Sitefinity, it has been a blessing of a product to help assist our team to create, manage, and deploy our site. It's also been fantastic to combine some of the other products and services we need into the mix with Progress.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Progress Sitefinity is helping me to delegate website maintainability and train users on how to maintain their content on our website.

  ### 15. Sitefinity is a great CMS for enterprise and small businesses

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 15, 2022

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Sitefinity has the ability to create modules which are essentially forms to capture data. Then you can easily modify the data for use on the front end. Love sharable content blocks.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Some of the products that are not heavily used such as Site Sync or others, tend to have limitations and can bug out at times. Having a vendor that can do some heavy lifting with code is important.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Progress and Sitefinity specifically are great partners.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We manage over 30 websites using Sitefinity CMS for all our practices and hospitals. It can more than handle the lift.

  ### 16. Sitefinity is very slow to load. So it's not good for development and debug

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Utilities | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2022

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

the features it provides and the easy to use

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

the loading time. On my vm, it takes around 5 minutes to load. It makes it so difficult to debug

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am using Sitefinity to build a company website. It can do pretty much anything we want

  ### 17. Working with Sitefinity

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

The platform is large yet easy to understand. The user interface is inviting and easy to use. The system has a lot out of the box to work with. Lots of innovation and a bright roadmap.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

The system is cache-heavy and can be slow. Lots of technical debt is being cleaned up by Progress that was inherited but lots of investment so the future is bright.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Building web apps and portals where Microsoft and .NET solutions are a good fit.

  ### 18. Has potential but needs a community behind it to push it to the next level

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2018

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Taxonomy is pretty easy and intuitive. For large companies this has potential. Out of the box and simple site design is posssible without a dedicated developer to create widgets.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Unreliable. Plugins don't always work as expected. Site sync always seems to get out of sync and you have to manually copy the database. The back end can be very confusing and unnecessarily complicated. The new interface after version 12+ is unreliable. Sometimes code pasted in the html field works, other times it doesn't save with no consistency.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

I would steer clear unless you have a decicate asp.net developer willing to put in A LOT of time to get this up and running and perform maintenance on a regular basis. There are other CMSs out there that would do a better job.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Only using sitefinity as a CMS for mostly static pages right now because we don't trust it to do other, more complex tasks.

  ### 19. Build and Maintain your site with Sitefinity

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 13, 2022

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

It is easy to create and maintain the web page. it has the publish approval process to make sure the contents are appropiate

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Upgrade is not easy and startup time is too long in DEV environment

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Creating and maintaining the bank website with progessional quliaty

  ### 20. Web Manager Review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nina S. | Web Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2022

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

I love the ease and how user-friendly it is. Everything is very easy to find as an editor.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

The things I dislike are where my organization lacks in our package plan.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Content editors have fewer questions than on our previous platforms.

  ### 21. A Powerful CMS If You Have A Deep Dev Bench for Your Organization

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 08, 2021

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

We have used SiteFinity for our corporate web presence for several years. While we haven't taken advantage of the personalization and marketing cloud tools - it has been a powerful content management tool. Editing content has improved with advances in the on-page editor. Reusing content throughout the system makes publishing a breeze. The template and design tools also allow you to easily make new pages and sections.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Compared to Wordpress, if you do not have a strong dev team you will struggle to make some changes in the CMS. Templating and the overall look/feel/functionality requires a developer. While your mobile views are editable, it does require some extra labor to ensure the site looks good across all screen sizes. This may be a limitation of our current templates/site implementation.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We originally wanted a CMS that ran on the .NET framework as we are a Microsoft ORG. We have a variety of content for a variety of audiences and Sitefinity helps us manage it. While we haven't realized the full benefit of content personalization and persona journeys - we ultimately want to get there and have that capability baked in should we move forward. Overall, the biggest benefits we've experienced have been an improved experience for our visitors and the ability to make regular visual improvements throughout the site.

  ### 22. Strong CMS with room for improvement

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 15, 2021

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

The page editor is among the best I've seen in a CMS. Layouts are great for flexibility and Feather widgets make it quick and easy to get content on the page. The page editor is easy to use and moving content around is fast.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Widgets could use more customization. Content block custom properties for things like background colors, additional fields for layouts to allow for users to add padding, alignment, etc. Separating the CMS from the front end would also go a long way in shortening downtime between deployments. Adding a way to edit data in a custom database table would also solve some problems.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are helping customers manage content through custom modules, connect to their third party data through services, and present the brand in an easily customizable way.

  ### 23. Great product that can be easily recommended to a friend

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 24, 2022

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Drag and drop functionality makes creating the sites and portal way easier!

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Sometimes the issue resolving based on the old documentation could be challenging.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Looked into a huge documentation base to realize how many open resources you have access to.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's being used as one of the primary tools at my current work and I like it! Lots of benefits and tons ways of ways to customize every small detail.

  ### 24. Highly extendible product but requires a noticeable effort to customize

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anatoliy O. | Senior Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 27, 2021

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Ability to set it up for my needs the way I'd like. Everything is possible, highly customized & extendible.
Ability to make any content and functionality easy to use by content managers and marketers, and also write own functionality for contend editing.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Requires a noticeable time and effort to finely customize, although once committed, these customizations can be re-used and don't require spending time and effort again.
Technical support not always knowing the product so well and also may ignore security problems (like open-redirect vulnerability).

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Main problem was to migrate from old engine that doesn't give content managers so much instruments to write/customize content so easy.
After migrating to Sitefinity everything that needed to be customized/edited became able to.
All content is easily managed by own-developed controls.

  ### 25. CMS With Security

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** August 07, 2021

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Has a little bit of learning curve if you want to achieve more than wha is available out of the box. But customer support is great.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Integrating multiple products.

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

User experience is by far the biggest benefit of Sitefinity.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

I really wish Sitefinity prioritized developer requests more often (VS always focusing on marketing requests). There are a ton of areas that Sitefinity can improve the developer experience - but they never seem to get prioritized.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Content management. Headless CMS usage with the OData services has been great (though, the OData services could use some work)

  ### 28. SItefinity CMS Enterprise Review

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2021

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Permission and role options for multiple people to edit; Some of the widgets for dynamic content and JS rich components; Backend UI improved now that we're on 12.2; cloud editing

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

As a front-end designer/developer and managing the site editors, I wish I knew how to customize widgets for non-technical users better. I would prefer them not to be able to edit in HTML mode, but many times that's the only way since the WYSIWYG is unreliable. However, this puts content and page structure at a higher risk for breaking. There also isn't substantial training available or resources that have been made available to my team.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Write a list of your needs as granular as possible and ask many questions about workflow and those who will use the product to understand better how this product fits your need, growth, and budget.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Web designers and developers can do their craft well. From enterprise-level it seems to work well to integrate with other platforms and SSO. I like having test server before deploying to live.

  ### 29. sitefinity is a top CRM engine

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Alternative Dispute Resolution | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2022

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

flexible in customization in features and widgets

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

a lot of features need to be customized also with the widgets

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I customized some widgets

  ### 30. A Versatile CMS, However Full App Dev/IT Support Recommended to Get the Most out of it

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Timothy B. | Web Designer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 23, 2021

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

The multilingual feature of Sitefinity is excellent. It's helped us manage our site in several languages with ease. Page management is straightforward.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

To get the most out of Sitefinity, you need proper IT and application developer support. Out of the box it can be a bit limiting.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have a global website that's in 6 languages. Being able to see all pages and which ones are translated at a glance is great.

  ### 31. Great CMS with easy front end capabilities

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 15, 2021

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

We have a very complicated website and need to add content and change navigation on a regular basis to reach different personas. Sitefinity is easy to update and add content.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Would like them to pay attention more to the Google algorithm updates and core web vitals, but the new 14.0 update to Sitefinity I understand addresses that, I just haven't uploaded it yet.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being able to add content easily, and create conversion pathways for customers in our two business persona profiles. In the past this was difficult; it was a challenge to create navigation and personalization that could speak to all our different personas, and Sitefinity's personalization solution and widget creation helped significantly.

  ### 32. SiteFinity Review

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Transportation/Trucking/Railroad | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 17, 2022

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

It is an obscure platform, so less worry about hacks versus WordPress, Joolma, Drupal, etc.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

It is very large and somewhat difficult to upgrade. To many upgrades. The license agreement requires the generator tag which announces an attack vector to hacker.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

None

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hosting marketing sites, it does not have to be involved in most content updates, though this is the same benefit as all CMSs.

  ### 33. Capable CMS with Excellent Support

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 26, 2021

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

I have been impressed with the capabilities of the CMS.
The support has been prompt and knowledgeable when needed, with an excellent knowledge base, so I often don't need to contact support.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Using Nuget to update the CMS within Visual Studio is often clunky and requires multiple failed deploys in our test environment to get it working.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sitefinity has helped us modernize our public website from an outdated CMS that its vendor no longer supported.
It has allowed us to have both external and internal facing content on our website for ease of use for both employees and prospective students.
It has also allowed us to build custom tools that can access and modify data from our website using RESTful APIs.

  ### 34. Powerful CMS

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 25, 2022

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

We migrated from Wordpress, and continue to be impressed at how flexible and powerful Sitefinity is. The added Online Marketing Experience is a nice bonus if you're interested in more specific content targeting based on audience.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Like all CMS systems, Sitefinity has its quirks. Once you learn to navigate them, it becomes less of a hassle. Plus, there's a wealth of documentation and resources to assist you.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were relying on so many plugins with Wordpress that it became harder to stay current. With Sitefinity's content structure, we've been able to keep our assets more organized than before.

  ### 35. Intuitive, Mature, Robust, Easy for non technical users

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 27, 2018

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Sitefinity has a great user interface that is intuitive and easy to use for non-technical content editors. The modern UI makes content management easy and fast. Version 14 has added some interesting new features that will help marketers and content editors

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

The only real negative about the platform is the lack of a robust e-commerce system. However, Progress is partnering with best-in-breed e-commerce vendors who have tight integrations with the core platform.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Become familiar with the features before implementation. Choose a Sitefinity-certified partner and make sure they work with the CMS, not around it.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sitefinity allows our customers to go to market quickly with new sites and applications that need content management features. Built-in features like news, events, and forms allow us to create compelling sites quickly. And it is easy to create structured content for content types that don't exist out of the box. The personalization features allow for tailored content for specific types of users. Sitefinity Insight is a powerful application that allows for customer journey analysis, content attribution, conversion tracking, and more.

  ### 36. The easiest and user friendly CMS that I have ever used.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Telecommunications | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 31, 2022

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Content privews and saving your pages as drafts to keep your progress and publish when it's done!

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Privusly the prices for all editions were available publicly.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Embedded forms cration is the best functionality to launch surveys, to get feedbacks and to collect data from your website users.

**Official Response from Maria Sweeney:**

> We're thrilled to hear that you find Progress Sitefinity to be the easiest and most user-friendly CMS! We appreciate your feedback about the content previews and draft-saving features. We understand your concern about the pricing transparency. As every deployment is different our pricing is aligned to your specific scope and scale so you avoid unnecessary licensing and infrastructure costs, but we will take your feedback to the necessary teams for consideration.

The embedded form creation feature is indeed a powerful tool for gathering feedback and data from your website users. We're glad to hear that it's benefiting you in launching surveys and collecting valuable information. If you have any further feedback or questions, please feel free to reach out. We're here to assist you every step of the way!

The modularisation, communication with the team, and system documentation.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Integration with other platforms and Layout the backend layout.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Offer a better UI package upgrade for older versions that share the same interface as the last version.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sales and marketing

**Official Response from Maria Sweeney:**

  ### 39. Highly recommend Progress Sitefinity

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Megan M. | Brand & Experience Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 15, 2021

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

I love the flexibility Sitefinity offers my team. We have been able to accomplish all of our goals (and more!)

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

The upgrade process can be a bit time-consuming/expensive, but we don't do it too often so it's not a major concern.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have been able to publish content changes rapidly and can now measure everything, which increases our effectiveness.

  ### 40. CMS made simpler

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Medical Practice | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 22, 2022

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Learning and working on Sitefinity is very quick and easy to understand the process

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Frequent updates are not able to followup

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Create pages and custom pages for users to make use utilizing the out of the box features like digital analytics and OpenID connect and Dynamic contents

  ### 41. Designer

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stephen A. | Web Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Create creatives and bulding websites as front end

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

When I have some technical problems due to the software

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

You need to dive in it and learn it well in order to use it but it's a very good piece of software.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Technical aspects of a website, Sitefinity has a deep learning curve but can be very good

  ### 42. Powerful CMS

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** James P. | Director, Technology Solutions, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Sitefinity has a relatively low cost of entry for a commercially supported feature rich .NET based CMS.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

One of our goals is to be less dependent on the an solutions provider to build automations. We are still using version 12.2, so maybe this will be addressed (or has been addressed) in a later release.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We replaced our Drupal CMS with Sitefinity in order to get a qualify CMS. Our marketing staff can now easily update content without relying on solutions providers to build out new pages.

  ### 43. Easy to use, lots of documentation, and support is helpful.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 15, 2022

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

The system is very mature, basically it has everything I need to build a website.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

It doesn't support up-to-date coding technology.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Building multi-site platform for the business. It has what I need and very easy to set it up.

  ### 44. Excellent CMS with a ton of functionality.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mark K. | Front End Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2021

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

As a front end designer, the layout and page editor makes building sites extremely fast and effecient.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

The UI is a little bland but is very organized and easy to use.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Giving customers the option to manage components of their sites. Direct customer knowledge.

  ### 45. Not only a flexible CMS, but also a powerful development platform!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carlos R. | Program Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 22, 2021

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Sitefinity is a flexible CMS, but more important for me as a software integrator is that Sitefinity provides a strong and well documented development framework, which will allow you from defining custom module without the need of have to write a line of code to the most complex integrations with front-end and back-end third party integrations.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Well, it's hard to find something one dislike from a product like Progress Sitefinity. Maybe I'd love to see more Content Widgets being shipped (out of the box) within the product, such as a Slider Widget (Image and Video Carrousel Slider). More Quantum like project samples one could review to learn more.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are solving the gap customers have between their ERP backoffice and the Ecommerce solution. The benefits are translated into a seamless integration, realtime information (price, product availability, cash to order conversion) and marketing initiatives, all working together within the same CMS tool.

  ### 46. Value Added CMS that is Easy to Use!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 03, 2022

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Sitefinity has an intuitive interface that was easy to learn, is easy to use and easy to train others on.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Have had some creative limitations, for example, in trying to create browser-triggered lead generation interstitial forms on marketing campaign landing pages.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

Be sure to evaluate all Sitefinity has to offer. It's a great tool.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Problems solved - creating content that can be properly routed and reviewed before being pushed live. Benefits: ease-of-use.

  ### 47. Easy for developers as well as editors

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Online Media | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 22, 2021

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Easy to build sites, customize and upgrade to new versions.. Easy for editors to author content and publish.. Easy configurations from an SEO perspective.. Prompt support as and when required.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

So far, meeting the expectations of customers and developers are finding it easy to manage. However, maintaining separate sitemaps in multi-site is tricky because of non user-friendly URLs.. Also, there is no feature to have a default "checked" checkbox field.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We migrated sites from different CMSs like Drupal, where frequent patching was needed. Sitefinity saves developers time with an easy version upgrade process and allows them to focus on developing new features.

  ### 48. Responsive and helpful

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Banking | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 15, 2022

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

Our site runs well. When we do need support, they are responsive and helpful. The available options to manage our site are very good.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

While the options to manage the site are good, sometimes the interface can be confusing.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are trying to provide a professional and useful website to the public. Progress Sitefinity does this for us.

  ### 49. The Best CMS for Layout Management

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 28, 2021

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

The layout tools are well beyond any other CMS, in my opinion. You can drag and drop layouts, then drag any number of content items to them to make complex layouts and designs, easily. The interface is very intuitive, and content editors generally find it easy to work within. Overall, Sitefinity is a solid product. I've been using Sitefinity since version 3.0 and it has come a long way!

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

The upgrade process tends to change often, and the documentation often lacks key details. Oftentimes, errors are experienced, and it can take a while to work through them to get a successful upgrade. Additionally, doing any custom development within Sitefinity is tricky, even for our very experienced .NET developers. I wish this was a bit more straightforward. We often find bugs that require version updates which tends to be a challenge due to my previous upgrade statement. There tend to be product releases often, so it can be hard to stay up-to-date on the most current version.

Having started on the Community (free) and Small Business licenses, I was sad to see these discontinued in favor of larger versions, but I get it.

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In our role as content management system designers/implementers, our job is to provide easy-to-use CMS tools to end users to allow them complete control over managing their website content. Sitefinity's advanced toolset and interface allow for this goal to be met, while allowing us to focus on design and implementation.

  ### 50. Great Product

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 25, 2022

**What do you like best about Progress Sitefinity?**

The ease of use, especially the integration with active directory.

**What do you dislike about Progress Sitefinity?**

Sitefinity itself was great, there were a few items that limited admin rights to do but that was more of an issue with our developer.

**Recommendations to others considering Progress Sitefinity:**

NA

**What problems is Progress Sitefinity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Creation/development of website
