"Must-have tool for optimizing your Wi-Fi network"
What do you like best about NetSpot Pro?

It’s easy to use yet powerful—aliases, heatmaps, and colorful charts make it simple to scan lots of network metrics, see interference from neighbors, and perform real-time scanning.

I have six UniFi access points with multiple bands and networks at home, and getting the right settings for optimal coverage is critical. NetSpot Pro makes it easy to alias all my BSSIDs so I can walk around with my MacBook, sample coverage, and analyze interference. The heatmap feature is particularly useful for planning AP placement, adjusting power settings, and troubleshooting weak spots. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about NetSpot Pro?

In version 3, the aliases I set in the “Inspector” list mode didn’t carry over to the visual chart, but I just upgraded to version 4, so that may have been updated. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"FYI: Does not offer refunds"
What do you like best about NetSpot Pro?

I like the idea of the software, providing a map of the wifi coverage in your home/office/etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about NetSpot Pro?

I wanted to figure out how my home wifi setup was working. I found the app, downloaded the free version, and tried to scan the wifi coverage. The app relentlessly gave me pop-ups at each step that gave me the impression that I couldn't use any functionality without upgrading. OK. It's worth it to me to get a good sense of the wifi coverage and I figure I can request a return if this doesn't work for me, so I pay for an upgrade.

Still, no dice. Still, relentless 'you need to upgrade' popups and I haven't successfully seen any data about my wifi coverage. It can't even seem to see any wifi networks? It keeps requesting that I upgrade if I try to find a wifi network. Restarting the app or my computer doesn't help. Reading the user guide doesn't help. Over an hour later, I give up.

That's OK, Netspot will refund because I didn't get value from their product and it's software so no loss for them, right? Right? Nope. Netspot DOES NOT ISSUE REFUNDS FOR THEIR SOFTWARE. This does not make any sense. Maybe for material goods, but software?

Here's the deal Netspot. I'm guessing you have a decent software, and that many people find it useful. That's great, and they should pay for the service you're providing. I'm guessing you're good people and you want to make good software. In order to make good software, you want to set up a feedback loop so that when your software is good, you get money, and when it is bad, you don't get money.

If, instead, you create a feedback loop so that *regardless of whether the software is good, your users still pay you money* then you are no longer optimizing for good software. You are optimizing for taking people's money. This can work out for you if you are, for example, Comcast, and you find some way to corner the market with regulatory capture. But to be clear: doing that is not good. It's bad. It causes harm to society, the society that you live in. I'm guessing you get angry when, for example, Comcast is forcing you to pay exorbitant fees for terrible service because there is no alternative. Well, if you want a world with less Comcast crap, then don't be Comcast. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Excellend wireless survey software"
What do you like best about NetSpot Pro?

Very easy to use product, works well each time I have carried out a wireless survey. Easily see what networks are being broadcasted along with the signal information Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about NetSpot Pro?

Nothing to note, it does what it says on the tin, the only downside is cost is a little over some competing products in the same category Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
