**What do you like best about Miva?**

I really like the way the Miva app handles money. It manages money very well and is extremely secure. Additionally, it helps increase my productivity. The setup process was also very easy and quick, which I really liked.

**What do you dislike about Miva?**

The payment method on BY becomes slightly slow for two minutes, during which the server goes down and it bothers me. Repeatedly, when making payments, meaning for doing anything related to payments, the server cannot be found and it becomes a problem. I have faced this issue with the payment method.

**What problems is Miva solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Miva for managing money and marketing. It keeps my income secure and helps increase our company's productivity.

**What do you like best about Miva?**

I like how stable, scalable, and unified Miva is for running a serious ecommerce business. It handles everything from our product catalog, checkout, and payment processing to order management, customer accounts, and inventory tracking. What stands out is Miva's ability to provide enterprise-grade tools natively, like custom pricing, bulk ordering, advanced inventory, and complex shipping rules, which reduces the need for third-party add-ons, resulting in fewer conflicts, less downtime, and minimal daily troubleshooting for our team. The custom pricing feature is particularly valuable as it allows us to set unique pricing for individual B2B customers, saving time and reducing order errors. Bulk ordering is a game-changer for our larger customers, making large-scale ordering fast and easy, which keeps our B2B buyers loyal.

**What do you dislike about Miva?**

The biggest one is the admin interface. It’s functional, but it looks and feels older compared to modern platforms. Some menus are hard to navigate, simple tasks take extra clicks, and it’s not as intuitive for new team members. It’s very powerful once you learn it, but the learning curve is steeper than it needs to be.

**What problems is Miva solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Miva to handle our expanding product catalog and complex workflows, solving scalability and B2B vs. DTC challenges. It offers native custom pricing and bulk ordering, reducing order errors and saving time, while enhancing satisfaction for our wholesale clients with self-service ordering.

**What do you like best about Miva?**

Miva's backend is not user friendly or easy to use. It is not easy to integrate your tech stack. Most things, if not everything, require help from Professional services or a developer.  They are not mobile first or mobile friendly, our template mobile speed is 40 out of 100.  Miva customer support is not helpful; they want you to pay Professional services to investigate and do work on everything. I have to use Miva daily and it's very difficult to find where data is stored in Miva, it lacks transparency.  There aren't enough features in Miva, and each time they do a deployment, they usually cause an issue or break something. If it takes a developer to implement any new app or feature, nothing is easy to implement.  We visited their annual conference where they told us, "Once you buy Miva, I have nothing else to sell you" which is untrue.  They constantly push you to purchase professional service hours, and professional services help. Miva limits us with how we can export data, in pieces, and often times we have to log into an external database to access and download large data files, as their system can't handle it.  They started a new AI Beta, told us it was full, and then went on one of their "Ask Wayne" sessions and announced sign ups were still open.

**What do you dislike about Miva?**

MIVA can improve it's business ethics, quality and speed of communication with its customers, transparency, and accuracy of professional services quotes and work. Miva can be restrictive and difficult to code/manipulate. We always have issues with their professional services team charging more than they quote. We are restricted by our older template, and all enhancements and changes are designed for the newest framework. I would not recommend working with Miva. Doing any work with Miva takes a very long time, and it took over 3 weeks for Miva to address a service issue that they acknowledged was urgent. After we brought to Miva's attention that they were violating their own terms of service, they changed the terms of service, which no longer align with California law or industry practices, so they can do whatever they want.  Miva can shut off your service or site at any time for any reason, and if you do not pay your subscription fees within 24 hours of them being due, they can turn off your site.  I do not like anything about the Miva platform. Miva picks and chooses it's priorities, which aren't their customers.

**What problems is Miva solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Miva is creating more problems than it solves.  It's largest problem is a 4 page, cumbersome checkout.  We asked them to solve this problem, as have other customers, and instead they opened up an API for checkout, putting the burden and cost of fixing a cumbersome, difficult checkout onto their customers.  Shopify, Amazon, Big Commerce and other sites focus on checkout because its where you convert, Miva is failing to solve it's own problems and making those problems the problems of their customers.

I want direct URLs in the backend, for instance to point directly to a specific order. This system has some masking going on or something.

**What do you like best about Miva?**

Miva has been a solid platform.  It is stable and moderately easy to use.   We have a complicated business model with many requirements.  There is a growing number of developers that can build out needed features for our success.  Wholesale pricing levels for multiple customer groups. 

The best part is our Customer Success team.  Justin and Wayne have been great to work with.  When I do not need management-level assistance, the ticket system Miva uses is staffed by REAL PEOPLE who are good techs.  I have not had to wait for days and battle AI or bots or people working with English as a second language. 

Justin and Wayne worked to resolve all my concerns.  They coached my team and me for growth and suggested tasks we could do ourselves to avoid costly developers.   Once we re-signed our contract, they were still present and following up with us regularly to make sure we were making progress and volunteered to be a resource with scheduled calls to go over account details and training.  The excellent support and dedicated representative gives our team much more confidence!

They are expanding many features and addressing the pain points we have as a growing business.

**What do you dislike about Miva?**

I regret that we did not regularly engage with the customer service team when we first started.  Some of the desired features need plug-ins or custom programming.  There are a number of good private contractors that have been able to assist and do what we cannot.

**What problems is Miva solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Product updates are easy.   We have to update prices from distributors on a weekly basis.  Whether it is a handful of products or hundreds, Miva is easy to use.   The website is stable and quick.  Unlike other platforms, it is not so locked down that we cannot customize it for our needs.  Miva representatives listen to our concerns and have worked some of those concerns into new solutions and fixes.  I feel valued as a customer.

**What do you like best about Miva?**

Miva Merchant's best trait is its adaptability to cater your website to whatever experience you want to share with your customers. With Modules, Plugins and intuitive backend experiences, with the recent inclusion of a GUI based page builder, those with limited programming knowledge can build intelligent, well-designed pages. For every roadblock we’ve encountered, Miva has been able to provide us with a solution.

**What do you dislike about Miva?**

Besides MivaScript being a unique quantifier for finding Web Design assets that can work on the Miva Platform, I have no downsides. That can, at times, cause problems in finding reliable resources quickly.

**What problems is Miva solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Miva Merchant has allowed us to reach both B2C and B2B customer bases efficiently while enabling us to market specific product sets to the customers that are interested in them.

**What do you like best about Miva?**

The most helpful thing about Miva is the vast toolset available to us. We utilize Miva daily not only for its website and storefront management but also for customers to place their orders, and the amount of control we have over everything and ease of use is unmatched.

There's not much to complain about. Still, if I had to say something, we wish that Miva would offer its services at a more competitive price. Nothing negative to say other than that!

Miva is our all-in-one solution for customer orders as well as our website administrative control. We manage our site entirely from within Miva, and it's a game changer for our company.

**What do you like best about Miva?**

Account reps have always been amazing. They are quick to respond and find answers for my questions. May not always be the solution I want, but they get me answers. The admin is incredibly well thought out and easy to navigate. They are continuously improving it as well, so always nice to see updates that make my life easier. The available features are great and make our web site stand out.

**What do you dislike about Miva?**

The price. It always adds up higher than I'd want/expect. When you get good developers from the pro services team they normally do great work, but it always makes me pause before asking for something as time is money. So be sure to figure out what you want in detail before you ask. I've had some limitations in what I'd want to do, but you really are going to get that with anyone you use... if you have a creative mind like I try to.

With Miva we were able to build a beautiful web site with tons of features and a secure shopping cart. In our industry, we have the best web site with awesome functionality. As they add features and partners we are always improving our web site to offer more flexibility and ease of use.

After six months of being live I can definitely say we're pleased with the choice of Miva. It's not perfect, but there have been very few options that I've looked to use that haven't been great.

The back end admin UI is a bit hard to navigate.

We needed a full-featured e-commerce platform that worked with UPS WorldShip and it does.

Cost is a little more than we had hoped, but the convenience and I believe the increase in sales because it is so easy to use for our customers.

Our old platform was off-line a lot and was not real user friendly. Miva has been a great upgrade from our old platform.

**What do you like best about Miva?**

Miva offers a highly scalable platform with the ability to customize your store however you wish.

Our website www.loveisarose.com has been using Miva since 2001 and we have no plans on switching. Our niche products require lots of options and personalization and Miva has been the perfect platform to provide the right solutions for our website.

Their customer support is great and super responsive. I've never had an issue they could not resolve promptly.

The Miva Community Forums are also a great resource for any questions you may have or info you may need. There are tons of users and developers that are always willing to help and share their knowledge.


Now for the Miva Goodies.

Customization / Developer Features:
-MivaScript
     The proprietary MivaScript is a very powerful tool for rendering dynamic content.
     Can be used at the global, template, and even customer level allowing you to create a very personalized shopping experience.
     Assign global or local variables to be used globally or at the local page template level.

-Theme Components
     One of my favorite features. Includes, Images, Banners, Content Sections, Product Listings and Navigation Sets.
     This is so great because it allows to you have pieces of content or code that can be edited in one place and applied to as many pages on your site as you want.
     Create as many navigation elements, product listings, content sections, etc. as you want and dynamically or permanently render them in the page templates you want.
     A great feature for rendering supplemental navigation on small screens such as related categories.

-Template Branches
     A highly effective way to make changes to your store without affecting current visitors.
     Create a branch by copying your existing store (copies all templates, css and js resources)
     Edit the new copy of your store until your heart is content and even start working on a redesign.
     Preview your changes easily before going live. Great for troubleshooting.
     Push the changes live and easily revert back all within the admin.

-CSS/JavaScript Resources
     Easily manage CSS and JS files directly in the admin.
     Assign all CSS or JS files to a resource group (one for CSS one for JS) and set the order in which they are rendered. Allowing for all CSS or JS files to be output as one file in the client's browsers.

-Page Templates
     Create as many custom page templates as you want.
     Create Alternate copies of product and category templates and assign them to certain products or categories.

-Global Settings / Elements.
     Edit your store's global Head, Header, Footer, MiniBasket, Breadcrumbs and more all in one place.
     

Store Owner Admin Features:
-Product Attributes (Options a customer can select such as color)
     A very powerful tool to help when a product may have several variants such as size or color.
     Have a lot of products that use the same attributes? Create an attribute template that can be assigned to as many products as you wish.
     The Attribute machine template allows for great customization as well. Maybe you have a product that can be personalized with up to 30 characters and one that can only fit 10 characters. You can dynamically show a different text field based o the product code or sku.

-Product Copy
     Have a bunch of new products you're adding to your site?
     Are they similar to an existing product?
     Copy the existing product with a simple click of a button and make the necessary changes after it is copied.

-Product Filters
     Also known as facets, these are an online shopping standard.
     Assign / exclude certain filters to certain categories or products.
     Year, Make, and model (combination facets) are available.

-Built in SEO Features
     Easy to use uri management for creating SEO friendly page URLs.
     Easy to use sitemap generator.
     Easily edit all Meta tags, Title Tags for every single page on your site.
     Built in product Schema.

-Built-in Google Analytics Eccomerce Tracking

-Great Inventory Management

-Highly customizable Shipping Methods.
     Flat Rate, Weight Table Based, Price Table Based and more.
     Assign different methods to different countries, states and even zip codes.
     Limits shipping methods at the product level.

-Easy Integrations with Shipping/ Order Proccessing Platforms such as ShipWorks or ShipStation.

-Review Baskets
     View customer shopping carts in real-time.
     This is helpful when a customer calls who is having trouble checking out.
     Help finish the order with a simple click of the Create Order button.
     You can also Shop as a Customer if you'd like to see where the confusion might be on the specific page they are having trouble with. This is useful for identifying checkout hurdles.

-Order Processing is very easy and straightforward with many payment gateways available.

-Authorization Failures
     A list of all authorization failures allows you to follow up with any customers having trouble placing an order.
     Also great for identifying fraudulent carding attacks.

-Price Groups / Availability Groups
   Great features for creating separate pricing or only showing products for customers.
   Allows for wholesale pricing.

-Marketplaces / Template Based Data Feeds
   Easily Manage products on shopping platforms such as Etsy, Amazon, Ebay and Google Shopping
   Have a more custom set up? Create template-based data feeds for Google Shopping/ Merchant Center and any other platform that uses a data feed for product information.


There is much much more but I think I have hit all the important features we use on a regular basis.

**What do you dislike about Miva?**

There is not much that I don't like.

-The real key is learning the proprietary Miva Script
     If you wish to do some customized dynamic rendering that Miva doesn't already ship out with the default Shadows Readytheme (Framework).
     Luckily Miva has a lot of literature online to help you learn if you are up for it.
     There are plenty of developers and programmers on the Miva Community Forums that offer Miva Services at a very fair rate.

-A few more ReadyThemes to choose from would be nice but Shadows is quite nice out of the box.

**What problems is Miva solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Anytime I contact support they resolve the problems with minimal issues and get it done promptly.

I think I have covered the benefits under What I Like.

**What do you like best about Miva?**

My company, Linentablecloth.com migrated to MIVA from Magento in late 2017. They are a relatively small shopping cart company, great employees. The first couple of years were good, I guess because we paid quite a bit of money (over $10k/mo). 
So good people and decent support. The platform was better than Magento, solid and we didn't need to worry about keeping the website running correctly.

**What do you dislike about Miva?**

Over time MIVA has fallen behind its competitors like Big Commerce and Shopify. They've also become ridiculously expensive in comparison. They product catalog management is messy and hard to use. Integrations to popular systems: google shopping, trust pilot, zendesk, mail chimp, etc. don't exist, so you have to pay their "professional services" department thousands and wait, wait, wait. For us, they failed to deliver on many of the things we were promised when we signed with them - google shopping feed being one. 
Due to some of my company's missteps and COVID, our revenue decreased significantly over the past couple of years. But MIVA was unwilling to reduce our monthly cost, even though I proved they were 3 times the cost of Big Commerce or Shopify. It didn't matter to them. So we left in September 2021 and are now on Shopify, which is WAY better! I feel a bit stupid for not realizing this fact sooner. 
Shopify is incredibly easy to setup and use - we built a MIVA replacement website in 2 weeks by ourselves - no professional outside services. Catalog management is stupid simple compared to MIVA. and the cost is one third of what MIVA was charging us. 
I guess MIVA has taken hedge fund money, so they're under pressure to increase their company revenue, but kicking your most loyal customers to the curb is not going to do it. 
I still like the great employees at MIVA, but I cannot recommend them as a solution for any e-tailer. Shopify is number one for a reason.

**Recommendations to others considering Miva:**

Use something else instead. Big Commerce is good if you want an agency or BC to build and manage your site. If you're hands on, then Shopify is better.

**What problems is Miva solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None. We left MIVA for Shopify.

**What do you like best about Miva?**

I like that Miva is scalable hence were able to use it from the moment we started we were still a small enterprise until we grew. More so the upgrade has been a smooth process which has cost us less. 
Using Miva has worked well for us because unlike most products of its category there are no maintenance requirements and costs which has been very helpful in saving us time and costs since data is hosted by the providers.
This product makes it very easy to customize which has helped us to create a very unique platform for our customers and one platform that is designed according to our goals and organization theme.

**What do you dislike about Miva?**

My problem with the product has been the lagging that sometimes comes from the platform whenever there is high traffic.
The user experience of the mobile version is somewhat not at par with the web-based version.

**Recommendations to others considering Miva:**

I recommend anyone considering the product to also invest in good expertise that will assist in customization and setup.

**What problems is Miva solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Miva has allowed us to work from remote locations which used to be our main problem before and also through its convenience in terms of its features we were now able to check for inventory remotely hence responding to request on time.

I like that it can speak to other programs (like signifyd) and our orders can be imported into another program.  Also it is convenient that it speaks to SHIPSTATION!

**What do you dislike about Miva?**

What I dislike about MIVA the most is if you had an order or part manually, it cannot be processed into the program we use to process and complete orders.    We used to be able to put in a code to be able to see all of the cx credit info.  But since we use signifyd, we no longer have that option.

You have access to tweak almost everything through certain modules.  Miva Merchant is configurable and easy to use.  Miva is fast, stable, flexible, as well as customizable.

We have depended on Miva since 2005. Miva's shopping cart has the functionality and flexibility we need to grow our business. Their uptime and security are outstanding. Most importantly, they have the best customer service I have ever experienced. Their team of computer professionals is knowledgeable, creative, and always willing to help,

Support for third-party integrations can be frustrating. They need to improve the way they handle interface issues.

**What do you like best about Miva?**

Miva Merchant is very flexible.  It's simple and inexpensive enough for startups, and it has the capacity to adapt as a business grows.  Best of all, its API allows it to be customized.  If you have an unusual requirement about how your products are displayed, how shipping costs are calculated, how you hook up to 3rd-party services, etc., Miva can support it.  There's an active community of free-lance developers who can provide a solution for you.  The company's customer support is better than most; and there's an active Web forum where users help each other.  I've been working with Miva for almost 20 years; it's a good community to be a part of.

**What do you dislike about Miva?**

Sometimes their tech. support people don't provide the most helpful answers to my questions.  I think it's because the company is growing; sometimes my questions are answered by newly hired people who don't have a lot of experience.  To be fair, being a software engineer myself, the questions I ask are usually tough ones.  At least they respond quickly; I never have to wait more than a day to get a reply.

Truth in advertising:  I'm one of those free-lance developers that I mentioned above.  I've written software modules to customize the store in hundreds of different ways:  specialized shipping-cost calculations, unusual types of payment processing, special handling for international orders, data exchange with 3rd-party services, etc., etc.

Honestly, once I got the hang of Miva, I liked how user-friendly and simple it was to understand and to use. I actually miss using this software. It's like muscle memory honestly by the time I was proficient enough with the software and it made creating products for the website easy and simple.

I really disliked when they did one of the most recent updates because I don't adapt well to change. However, with a little bit of patience and time, I was able to grasp the latest update.

Creating a product from start to finish on our e-commerce website was simple using Miva. I loved that I could upload entire spreadsheets and Miva would esentially take all of that work and mass upload it for me.

Miva offers a good balance for our small e-commerce company.  It requires significantly less technical overhead, support and maintenance than a Magento site, but is more customizable than BigCommerce or Shopify.

The marketplace for 3rd party services, plug-ins and integrations is smaller with Miva than with more widely adopted platforms like Magento, BigCommerce or Shopify.  We haven't found this to be a show-stopper, but the 3rd party options with Miva are more limited.

**What problems is Miva solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Miva has been easier to keep current with version releases than Magento.  Updates, while never fun, have been easily implemented and mostly problem-free.  In terms of page load performance, our Miva site is far faster than our previous Magento site, and this has boosted our SEO performance quite a bit.

We have been using Miva since 2004 and have frankly had a love/hate relationship with them over the years, but the Miva of the past is a completely different animal than the product it is today. Once we got used to the fact that they morphed from a more modular shopping cart (miva v1-v5ish) to an all-in-one comprehensive e-commerce platform (miva v9-v10), we have grown to appreciate it. While Miva 10's admin UI is streamlined and relatively easy-to-use, we have found that some features are convoluted and require a bit of a learning curve.

One thing I valued in the past that they no longer offer is design/dev services for any size customer. It was always a comfort to know that when you hired a tech, the tech would know miva better than anyone you could randomly hire. 

While there are more choices when seeking a developer for larger or more widely-used platforms, our experience so far using the development firms that Miva recommends have been very good (we cannot say the same for experiences with partner firms recommended by other platforms). So while some may find their smaller dev community a drawback, if you use a firm that Miva recommends, you will be in good hands.

**Recommendations to others considering Miva:**

-Miva 10 is a powerful yet relatively easy-to-use e-comm platform with lots of features. 

-The recently re-designed Admin brings it more in line with other platform Admins, which means that it may be more intuitive to new users than in previous versions. 

-We are not familiar with all the subscription levels, but for us, we feel that Miva's current pricing is in line with other platforms that offer similar functionality. 

-After using many other platforms over the years, we can knowledgeably compare Miva to many of the most popular platforms currently available. Consequently, we would now recommend Miva as the best balance of power, affordability and functionality.

**What problems is Miva solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Miva is our main e-commerce platform. In our 17 years using Miva, the platform has proven to be incredibly stable and reliable. Miva releases and installs (with a click of a button) its own updates (vs some platforms for which companies need to pay a highly-qualified/expensive developer to run upgrades). They seem to take great care in making sure that older apps don't break as a result of upgrades which is much appreciated.  The Admin can be used/managed by a moderately-technical staff which means low-cost maintenance over time.

We have used many other e-comm platforms over the years including shopsite, shopify, volusion, 3dcart, magento and shopify. We have come to really appreciate Miva after using all these different platforms for the following reasons:

-In our opinion, Miva offers a perfect balance between offering a high level of customization with stability and ease-of-use. 

-As mentioned previously, the platform and its apps/modules are stable and require little to no maintenance which translates to cheaper maintenance costs.

-Other sophisticated and/or complicated platforms that offer a lot of powerful features and/or highly scalable also come with extremely high development and maintenance costs. For ecomm companies that need more than the basic Shopify subscription levels, but don't want to spend or can't afford the sky-high price of building and maintaining platforms like Magento, Miva is the sweet spot.

-Miva support staff is knowledgeable and almost always on-point. Posts to the forum are usually answered in a timely manner which makes troubleshooting easier than with some other platforms.

-Other platforms spend [waste] money on famous celebrity speakers at elaborate vegas events (at which we just kept thinking...that's what I'm paying for when I pay enormous monthly fees?). Miva seems more reserved in its business/marketing methods which tells us that our fees are being spent on product improvements rather than PR and hype.

It was nice when it was an inexpensive platform.

**What do you dislike about Miva?**

I was oniva for over 15 years and was a loyal and dedicated customer. It use to be a good deal but it is built on a complicated coding platform that not many developers know the coding language. That leaves you forced to deal with their professional service team which is wicked expensive. There are about two outside development companies that I am aware of. The issue is that the apps and plugs in that are as simple as turning on a switch in Shopify can cost $1000-$3000 to integrate on their platform. Their platform use to be inexpensive but now their fees are similar to Shopify but Shopify is 100x more advanced in terms of catalog management and also app integration.

It solved a problem 15 years ago when Mova was super cheap and there not other options.

This platform is complete, and has updates that never crash your store.  While it is expensive, it is all inclusive, and doesn't need extra apps to run.

I tried moving my business to Magento several years ago, and during the build, found that the platform was very slow loading...so slow, that customers would not wait for pages to load, so I abandoned the move to Magento.

Recently, I tried moving my business to Shopify.  The cost to host with shopify was significantly less, but that cost is the tip of the iceberg.  When you add up all the extra apps required to make our store as functional like our Miva site, plus Shopify's additional cost to process credit cards, plus the lack of customer support, I am abandoning this move, and will continue with Miva.

**What do you dislike about Miva?**

Miva recently implemented a significant cost hike, and I'm still reeling from the sticker shock.

**Recommendations to others considering Miva:**

Unless you are a code warrior,  you will need to hire an expert to set up your store.  Miva has excellent programmers that will do this for you, but they are expensive.  I hired a programmer outside of Miva to do all of the customizations necessary.

Miva includes its own hosting, along with its software.  This is a huge advantage, because when something goes wrong, the hosting company and the sofware company cannot blame each other.

The tech support folks at Miva are really top notch. They are always quick to respond and bend over backwards to solve the toughest of problems.  Miva has been my shopping cart for 20+ years and our web host for almost 10. There are many other options, but when something works as well as Miva, you don't go looking around to save a buck or two. I'm not a programmer and know just enough about html to be dangerous. These guys and gals have never failed to help me fix or understand something in a timely manner.  They are great communicators, and always respectful of their customers regardless of their level of expertise.

**What do you dislike about Miva?**

There's not much I don't like, but I would like it if their responses to support requests would include my original comment. It would help keep things in context for me if I had a thread of prior communications on the same issue in every email.

I have a complicated product line that includes subscription-based aspects of our web site as well as tangible products. Miva's platform works for anything I want to sell whether it's tangible, digital, or streaming video access or  membership-section access.

Aside from the fact that Miva probably has more experience in the ecommerce space than any other shopping cart vendor, they are still small enough to provide real customer support. We've been on Miva since 1.0 in 1999, and as far as I know, even after being bought out a few years ago, the founder still runs the company like his own.

Honestly, we hardly ever have to interact with Miva corporate any more because the shopping cart works flawlessly for us. But when we do call, we don't have to wait long to get someone who knows how to help. Sorry, I can't be more critical. What could be better? Well, it could be free, but that's not how the world works.

Trouble free shopping cart performance. We are a small business and probably don't use all the features. In fact, we are using an older version but it still does what we need: Reliably collects money and integrates with our accounting and shipping systems.

Our company has used Miva for 19 years, and have our site hosted with Miva for the past 6. They are responsive to issues and outages that have been caused by config errors on our side or dns attacks. They continue to improve and innovate. They have integrated our ERP system and fraud detection service. Our site had an error the Saturday night of Memorial Day weekend- I emailed their VIP service group and it was fixed within an hour- service like this speaks wonders for their support operation.

For us there are none- any limitations on our ecom operation is not because of Miva.

This e-commerce platform is pretty awesome. It gives a detailed explanation of how to get started which is quite helpful and informative. It also is supportive of individual merchants to scale up their business. I really like their blog content as its good and useful for the users. Overall that has been a good platform for my e-commerce business .

The this that I dislike is about the technical aspects of this e-commerce platform. Sometimes I feel that to be a pretty complicated system to use for my business. I didn't like it that when it comes to pricing for their services. All over there are some changes needed to be fixed for a better experience of the services.

Support has always been top notch. even though we use it very little. We have used Miva for 15 + years and have never been disappointed with the platform. To be up front when we started with Miva I had no idea the difference in all these platforms. We say it as a platform that would work for us. As time went on we looked at several other platforms but they never measured up. What we really like it the ability to customize the programming to us. Miva has continually added and upgraded the platform and got better each time. We are a relativity small company but has grown due to the platform. At this point i cannot even think of changing as this has worked and continues to work great for our company.

**What do you dislike about Miva?**

Need more detail in videos, sometimes they only give one scenario. Example under the Marketing video it would be nice to see more information on how to set up the pricing. Each Type is different but video only shows one type. That would be helpful. The videos are great but more details would be great. Example in marketing setting up price groups there is limited information and only one thing showing how to set up. there and would lick to see each aspect of setup ( would also save support calls). Hope to see pricing remain affordable.

Updating to a mobile friendly frame was one thing I did. I have learned a lot how to use Miva and I appreciate that I can do my own work. I have been using Miva Just about from the beginning of Miva. With each enhancement it just gets better. I have looked at other ecommerce software but none compare to what I want and get with Miva. The support videos are great and information is continually getting better. I would like to see more detail in the videos, example not just one scenario of use. I always recommend Miva to anyone wanting to use ecommerce platform. Let me say i have never felt neglected by anyone at Miva, support is as good as I have seen in any company.

It can do anything any eCommerce platform does and more, far better, secure, stable! Miva platform is only limited by your imagination. Front-end customization and implementation could be easier, less costly. Extensive vendor Design Team customization can get very expensive very quickly. The great thing about the platform, it's the ideal place to start and grow your business, you will never outgrow Miva and they are constantly making substantive improvements. No contracts, month-to-month, cancel at any time, not based on sales volume, no surprises. Data Import/Export and Backup/Restore, Exceptional!

2020/05/22 Update: Almost twenty years later with Miva and they continue to be an exceptional eCommerce platform, always evolving front and back-end. CEO Rick Wilson and his team continues to be very active in their user forums. Extensive front-end customization by in-house Design Team continues to be a very costly proposition for small and midsize shops. Fortunately, Miva continues to invest heavily in developing formidable Mobile First, SEO friendly and well documented front-end solutions; frameworks, templates, extensions, themes that can be skinned (and in their JSON API too). Making extensive front-end customization far less necessary for small and midsize shops and will only get better with time. Over the years I have evaluated many popular platforms and none come even close to Miva. In our twenty years within the community never heard anyone regretting choosing Miva for their business.

**What do you dislike about Miva?**

Back-end  administration navigation, intuitiveness and workflow is good, but could be improved (everyone is excited with the upcoming release of Miva 10 in late 2020 that will address all these issues along with few other surprises). Front-end customization has improved, but could be easier to implement for small and midsize shops, such as conditional dynamic content and promotional displays (e.g: Welcome back [Jane], Recently Viewed Items, Popular Items, Popular Categories, Top Sellers, Top Categories, People who purchase this also purchase, Top Searches, etc...). Basic search needs significant improvement (third-party solutions are available but for shops with minimum annual sales of $1M). Home page (storefront) lacks essential conditional dynamic content to trigger sales, 90-95% of storefront content is static. Solutions to all these issues, features already exists but they are not easy to implement or too costly for small and midsize shops -Miva really has no limitations.

**Recommendations to others considering Miva:**

Miva platform is only limited by your imagination. Front-end customization and implementation could be easier, less costly. Extensive vendor Design Team customization can get very expensive very quickly. The great thing about the platform, it's the ideal place to start and grow your business, you will never outgrow Miva and they are constantly making substantive improvements. No contracts, month-to-month, cancel at any time, not based on sales volume, no surprises. Data Import/Export and Backup/Restore, Exceptional!

No problems. Recently updated responsive html templates optimized UI and UX (front-end) has significantly improved our mobile and tablet online sales.

**What do you like best about Miva?**

We have found that our resource for orthopaedic surgeons and related professionals has functioned very well.  The site is very responsive and is easy to update, which we do regularly.  When we switched hosting from a web marketing company to ourselves, MIVA was and has been very responsive to our questions and has solved every issue very easily.

A few months ago we started managing some of the technical aspects of the site ourselves.  Fortunately, support from MIVA has been excellent!

So far, we have nothing to complain about.  We had initially been working through a marketing company and just began hosting the site ourselves, but no problems so far.

**What problems is Miva solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Switching hosting from a web marketing company to ourselves posed some anxiety and we had some questions that had to be answered.  MIVA was very responsive.  

The problem our website is solving is helping orthopaedic surgeons and related professionals find and find choices of needed products to do their best work for their patients.

**What do you like best about Miva?**

We switched to Miva in 2001, and have been with them for 20 years. Sadly, they have threatened  to raise our price by 250% starting in January 1, 2020 unless we sign a longterm contract.  I guess that is what happens when VC money gets into the picture.

**What do you dislike about Miva?**

There has been a recent price alignment with the roll out of Miva 9, so we will be paying more this year than in previous years. No one likes to have their costs go up. But this pales into insignificance with the newest increase of 250% effective 1/1/2019 unless we sign a long term pricing contract. Again, I blame the recent investments by VC.

**Recommendations to others considering Miva:**

Miva used to be a great company, but since VC money has invested in them, expect significant price increases.

Still looking for another, more reasonably priced option.

We have been using Miva for about ten years, to be honest I cna't remember how long exactly, tried other systems, even looked and changing systems a few times, never found anything that did what we need. The level of customisation iis perfect and if there is something we cannot do, we can get Miva or a third party to do it for us.

**What do you dislike about Miva?**

If you want to get into the nitty gritty of it all and do really custom stuff (you don't have to as someone else like Miva can do it for you), the code can get a bit confusing. But even a non-programmer can work it out. This does lead to amazing customisation possibilities.

**Recommendations to others considering Miva:**

Check out the sample templates they have, they can easily be modified to suit your own store.

**What problems is Miva solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have a range of very different products that need special shipping options, Australian tax, Australia post codes etc, all doable with Miva! Relatively easy to do bulk updates too. Our other users have little problem processing orders through the system.

We can do just about anything we want on any Miva generated page by adding a few lines of code or by writing a module. In recent years, Miva has made great strides in bringing their software up to modern standards and functionality, and they keep adding new features and third party apps. We recently started using their new TaxJar app, and it was simple to configure.

**What do you dislike about Miva?**

My current wish list items are better product search with field prioritization and I want the ability to display pieces of information that are important to us such as total order weight on the order detail screen on the administration side. I would also like them to take away the ability to delete a product or category from the Related Product and Category assignment screens. It's way too easy to delete something rather than remove an assignment.

**What problems is Miva solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The newest versions of Miva have made it really easy work on products and categories, and this saves us tons of time. We're experiencing massive growth on the eCommerce side of our business, and the Miva software isn't slowing us down.

**What do you like best about Miva?**

Miva's core product has evolved rapidly in recent years and has allowed us to grow rapidly with them. They offer all the normal features needed, but also tools to build really great custom features. Miva has a Professional Services department that works on projects for us, so we are able to turn to them for all aspects of our e-commerce site: platform, hosting, and customization. Their support department is phenomenal, and is fast to hop on any issues.

**What do you dislike about Miva?**

I'm not sure it would be a concern for most, but although we have enterprise level hosting, we are not able to choose our own email application, nor are we allowed to install plugins for the email application provided. I'm sure the email is great for most businesses, but we'd like the opportunity to select something different, or at least add plugins to fit our needs.

**What problems is Miva solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We lean on Miva to solve problems on a daily basis. We have features on our site that none of our competition has, and have a great conversion rate. Our front office knows that Miva can make our site do anything we want it to do.

Nonetheless, Miva lacks the email marketing feature, which is an extra and sensitive application for advertising.

The price rates for Miva are nothing to fear. The time factor is also well saved.

Miva offers tons of possibilities and features.  It is good for a straight-forward product lines (like shirts) and also offers integrations and alternatives. I've never had an issue with downtime. And the support has been great.

Documentation is confusing. I have trouble finding documentation on specific functions and on a general overview of the Miva environment.  There are many videos but these lack specifics I need.

On-line forums are great.  Miva employees and other users are very helpful.

**What problems is Miva solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have used MIVA for 10 years as the shopping cart for our website that is mostly static pages. Now, we are using MIVA to reorganizing our website to improve navigation and responsiveness and implement "facets" so customers can find the products they need.  The built-in  "facets" function saves us from implementing a custom solution.
