The main thing I like in the instana is that it is very easy to use. The implementation of this software is very smooth. We got the excellent customer support from the team, we use it regularly and it has lot of features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I don't think that anything I dislike in IBM instant everything is good in it. The UI part is very smooth, but page reloads every time if I try to click different component of the pages. So everything is good. The UI part should be Check. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Once you understand and adopt full capabilities of Instana's Application Perspective there is no turning back! This feature (Application Perspective), coupled with associated SmartAlerts, are the perfect combination for any APM monitoring team. The ease of use and extensive configuration options are also appreciated. Another important APM aspect is Instana's tracing philosophy: 100% tracing, without sampling. Adoption is easy, with major technologies being covered by automatic or minimal effort instrumentation and well documented alternatives for other integrations or implementations. Instana offers both SaaS and Self-Hosted options with more than fair Pricing Plans for both options. Our dedicated, locally available (region) technical support is always helpful and attentive, making sure to get us in touch with appropriate Instana PMs, whenever a major issue or relevant feature request arises. Sensors updates lack adoption control mechanisms (continuous, automatic updates). Periodic upgrades are not well curated, many times introducing brakes or issues. The 1st support level is well intended but slow, many times requiring intervention by our dedicated Technical Account Management support in order to progress. Instrumentation adoption mechanisms for cloud native infrastructures lack granularity (ALL or Opt In / Opt Out only at container level) *for now as major changes being announced. Infrastructure monitoring and observability lacks the power of major competitors. SaaS Logs in Context is an extra Add-ON that is required for OpenTelemetry logs integration. At the same time, to be fair, the cost of this Add-On is cheaper compared to other third-party providers. It's easy to use and implement on our Tomcat server, with a user-friendly UI and rich features that simplify daily monitoring. What I really appreciate about Instana is its excellent user interface. There is AI-based recommendation, but it lacks sufficient detail on when to act and why.

Anomaly alerting is poorly implemented and generates a lot of false positives.

Support is very poor.

There’s a lack of transparency regarding storage usage.

You can’t modify or even understand how Instana’s pre-configured alerts are set up.
