The payroll process is simple. Compliance tasks, such as terminations and ensuring the correct classification and treatment of termination pay items, are handled in Employment Hero easily and without complication. One minor thing I dislike about Employment Hero is that the help chatbox sits very close to the action/save button throughout payroll processing, and you can’t move it. A bigger issue is that Employment Hero will sometimes roll out software enhancements without any notification, which changes the way the system behaves and can affect your processes. It doesn’t necessarily break anything, but you then have to adjust your workflows to suit. Since we implemented Employment Hero, our old manual processes for timesheets and leave applications have been replaced with digital workflows and a clear audit trail. What I like best about Employment Hero is its ability to support and document the entire employee lifecycle in one platform. It provides a central location to securely store employee records, create and manage letters, forms and employment documentation, and maintain accurate records throughout an employee's journey with the business. I also value how it streamlines HR administration by automating processes, improving compliance and providing easy access to information for both employees and managers. Having recruitment, onboarding, performance management, policy acknowledgements and employee records in one system helps improve efficiency, consistency and visibility across the organisation. I would like the ability to be able to upload emails directly onto the employees file in the HR from Outlook as this would save my team and me considerable time when uploading documents. While Employment Hero is a comprehensive HR platform, one area that could be improved is system notifications and visibility when integrations or features are not functioning as expected. For example, when the Go1 learning integration recently stopped working, training assignments were not being processed correctly, yet there was no alert or notification to administrators that there was an issue. Proactive system notifications for failed integrations, workflows or tasks would help prevent delays and improve the user experience. Other areas for improvement include occasional limitations in reporting flexibility, where customised reports can be challenging to build without manual workarounds. Some workflows also require navigating multiple screens to complete what should be simple tasks, which can impact efficiency. In addition, the platform would benefit from greater transparency around system outages, feature issues and processing errors so administrators can identify and resolve problems more quickly. Overall, Employment Hero provides strong functionality across the employee lifecycle, but enhanced system monitoring, more robust reporting capabilities and improved user notifications would make it even more effective. Employment Hero solves the challenge of managing the employee lifecycle through multiple systems, spreadsheets and paper-based processes by bringing recruitment, onboarding, employment records, performance management, learning and policy management into a single platform. For me, this delivers significant benefits in terms of efficiency, compliance and visibility. It provides a central source of truth for employee information, reduces administrative workload through automation, and ensures important documentation is securely stored and easily accessible. The platform also improves the employee experience through self-service functionality, reducing the need for HR intervention in routine tasks. From a leadership perspective, Employment Hero helps me maintain accurate records, support compliance obligations, track employee development, and provide managers with the tools they need to effectively manage their teams. I really like that Employment Hero is very user-friendly. One of the best parts is how my staff can see their roster or payslips as soon as they're published, and they can apply for their leave through the app. It’s been a big step forward for now our staff can do these things anywhere and anytime, unlike before when they had to come into our venue. Our staff are unable to use the shift swapping or shift bidding functions because they are using the HR platform & it is only available in the payroll platform,. It would be very useful if it was integrated into both sides of Employment Hero. The initial setup required a lot of time to create Excel spreadsheets and input data with all staff details. The workflows are also cumbersome to set up and use, and the guides don’t provide enough detail to make the overall process clear. Permissions are another area that needs better explanation, especially when you’re in setup mode. Also, if you onboard someone in one month and they don’t start until the following month, you still have to pay for them for both months, even though their system access isn’t available until their start date. Employment has a team of support people based in Australia, we are located in the New Zealand, the support to date is vastly inadequate, the chat bot is useless when asking it a question that is more complex on how to set up an employee, almost every question is sends you in circles, suggest you always state human agent and then you get a person. What I like best about Employment Hero is that it provides a central place to store everything you need for HR and payroll. The payroll settings are incredibly flexible and can be customised in so many ways, allowing you to create workflows that are tailored to the unique requirements of each business. The reporting capabilities are excellent, and being able to manage multiple entities from a single login makes it especially efficient for businesses with more complex structures. At first, the system can seem a little daunting because of the number of features available. However, once you understand how each section works, you quickly appreciate how thoughtfully the platform has been designed. What do you dislike about Employment Hero? I’d love a feature where, whenever you click on a colleague’s name, it takes you straight to their profile. That might just be because I use the platform as an admin, so I’m not sure it’s something everyone would need. All of our policies are stored there, with certifications logged and automatic reminders sent when they’re due to expire. Annual leave is booked through Employment Hero and connected to our Microsoft Calendars, so nothing gets missed, and we’re also gradually introducing TOIL logging there as well. Here's a polished review response you can use: What I like most about Employment Hero is how user-friendly and efficient the platform is for managing HR and people-related processes. The interface is intuitive and easy to navigate, which makes everyday tasks such as employee management, leave requests, and document handling much more streamlined. One of the standout features for me is the AI-powered HR assistant. It resolves around 90% of my HR-related questions without the need to contact support, saving a significant amount of time and helping me find answers quickly. The AI functionality has become a valuable first point of reference for our team. Another major strength is Employment Hero's customer support team. They are always easy to communicate with, responsive, and knowledgeable. Every time I have contacted support, the information provided has been accurate and helpful, which gives me confidence in the platform and minimizes delays in resolving issues. From a performance perspective, the system is reliable and has helped improve workflow efficiency by reducing manual administrative tasks. The onboarding process was straightforward, and the available support resources made implementation smooth. Overall, Employment Hero delivers excellent value through its combination of intuitive design, strong AI capabilities, reliable performance, and exceptional customer support. One area that could be improved is communication around platform updates and changes. At times, Employment Hero introduces changes or enhancements to the system, but these are not always obvious to end users. As a result, we sometimes only become aware of a change when an issue arises, a process behaves differently than expected, or we discover the update accidentally while using the platform. More proactive communication, such as clear notifications, release summaries, or in-platform announcements highlighting how changes may impact existing workflows, would help users adapt more smoothly and reduce confusion. While the platform continues to evolve and improve, greater visibility of upcoming and recently implemented changes would enhance the overall user experience. Employment Hero has helped us centralize and streamline many of our HR and people management processes, including payroll, onboarding, recruitment, employee record management, and document filing. Having these functions in a single platform reduces administrative workload, minimizes manual data entry, and improves overall efficiency. The onboarding and recruitment features have been particularly valuable, as they help create a smoother experience for both new hires and hiring managers. Payroll processing is also more efficient, with employee information flowing seamlessly through the system. One feature I especially appreciate is the reporting functionality. The ability to generate detailed reports quickly provides valuable insights into workforce data and helps support informed decision-making. What would previously take significant time to compile manually can now be accessed in just a few clicks.
