## Alokai Reviews
  ### 1. Alokai: A Seamless Storefront with Room for Improvement

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marko J. | Marko Janda, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 25, 2025

**What do you like best about Alokai?**

Alokai offers an intuitive and user-friendly interface that makes it easy for both developers and business users to navigate and leverage its features. The simplicity of the platform ensures a smooth learning curve, which is a significant advantage for teams with varying levels of technical expertise.

Another major strength is the wide range of integrations available, allowing businesses to seamlessly connect with various third-party tools and services. This flexibility makes it a great choice for companies looking to build a customizable and scalable storefront.

The ease of implementation is also worth highlighting. Alokai streamlines the setup process, reducing the time and effort required to get started. Additionally, their customer support team is responsive and helpful, ensuring that any issues or questions are quickly addressed.

**What do you dislike about Alokai?**

While Alokai has many strengths, there are a few areas where it could improve. For example, some users may find the documentation to be lacking in depth, which can make troubleshooting or exploring advanced features more challenging without direct support.

Another downside is that while the integrations are extensive, certain niche tools or platforms may not yet be supported, requiring custom development work to bridge the gap.

Lastly, while the platform is easy to use, some advanced customization options may feel limited for highly complex projects, potentially requiring more technical expertise than anticipated.

**What problems is Alokai solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Alokai is helping us create a seamless storefront for our client’s CommerceTools and Kontent.AI integration. Its ability to connect with both platforms ensures a smooth flow between the backend commerce engine, content management, and the frontend user experience.

The platform’s ease of implementation has significantly reduced setup time and made ongoing maintenance more efficient. Its wide range of integrations, including seamless support for third-party tools like payment gateways and analytics platforms, enhances operational workflows.

By combining CommerceTools for eCommerce and Kontent.AI for content management, Alokai allows our client to deliver a fast, scalable, and customizable storefront that meets both technical and business needs.

  ### 2. Project management experience migrating from Magento to Contentstack + Alokai frontend

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ivan B. | Project manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 05, 2025

**What do you like best about Alokai?**

There are two key things worth highlighting: the people and the platform itself.

First, the people. We had an outstanding experience working with every Alokai team member we interacted with. They were always available, supportive, even when the issue extended beyond Alokai’s direct scope. Their collaboration and commitment made them a truly valuable extension of our delivery team.

Second, the platform. From a project management perspective, I can confidently say we've never encountered any major issues with Alokai. The console is so well-designed and intuitive that I was able to independently track performance trends. We’ve now been live for over a year without a single incident caused by the platform which speaks for itself ;)

**What do you dislike about Alokai?**

Do not have anything i don't like. Super engaged team really make a difference.

**What problems is Alokai solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For me it's performance and easy usage. Also scaling is pretty easy.

  ### 3. Solid and vary raliable tool

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bartosz S. | Technical Architect, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 05, 2025

**What do you like best about Alokai?**

Performance, easy of use, lot's of tools already implemented. Alokai console gives a nice overview of the solution in case of alokai cloud. Good documentation and even better support from Alokai. Overall no problems (no errors, no crashes etc).

**What do you dislike about Alokai?**

Limited administration capabilities in alokai cloud - no SSH access to server limits the way of custom changes. Logs are difficult to browse only through alokai console. Without New Relic it would be really difficult to find anything in logs, specially on our production environment (where we have a LOT of logs). Simple SSH access (even with just read access) would help, as there are many text editors or commands like tail.

**What problems is Alokai solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's just a nice framework with already lot's of integrations that we are using + Alokai Cloud which supports deployment and server side of things.

  ### 4. Flexible Frontend Framework with Great Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tom . | Frontend, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 22, 2025

**What do you like best about Alokai?**

Alokai provides a solid foundation for building performant and customizable ecommerce frontends. Its modular architecture and API-first approach make it easy to integrate with multiple backends. We particularly appreciate the Magento 2 support and the Nuxt 3 templates, which have sped up our development process significantly. The documentation has improved over time, and their support team is responsive and helpful whenever we hit a roadblock.

**What do you dislike about Alokai?**

Some parts of the ecosystem feel like they’re still catching up—especially when it comes to advanced use cases or less common integrations.

**What problems is Alokai solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Alokai is helping us modernize our ecommerce frontend without being locked into a single backend. We use Magento 2 as our ecommerce platform, but thanks to Alokai’s middleware and modular architecture, we’ve been able to build a fast, flexible storefront while also integrating Algolia for search. This decoupled approach gives us more control over the customer experience and performance. It’s also future-proofing our stack, making it easier to swap or upgrade individual services without a complete rebuild.

  ### 5. Really good experience with Alokai

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Pharmaceuticals | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 22, 2025

**What do you like best about Alokai?**

We've been using Alokai as part of our solution, and overall, the experience has been excellent. One of the standout features is the ease of integration—it's clear that a lot of thought has gone into making the platform developer-friendly. The wide range of available integrations has also been a huge plus, allowing us to connect with various services quickly and efficiently.

Another highlight is their customer support. Whenever we've needed assistance, their team has been responsive, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful. It’s reassuring to know that support is there when we need it.

In short, Alokai has been a reliable and well-integrated part of our stack, and we’d confidently recommend it to others looking for a flexible, well-supported solution.

**What do you dislike about Alokai?**

While Alokai has been a strong part of our solution overall, there have been a few obstacles during implementation. Occasionally, certain integrations didn’t work as smoothly out of the box as expected, requiring additional configuration or custom workarounds. These issues weren’t deal-breakers, but they did slow us down at times.

**What problems is Alokai solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Alokai is helping us tackle the complexity of building and maintaining a modern, composable frontend. With its broad range of integrations and flexible architecture, it allows us to connect different services easily—from CMSs to eCommerce platforms—without having to build everything from scratch.

This modular approach has reduced our development time, improved scalability, and made our system easier to maintain. It’s also given our team the freedom to choose best-in-class tools for each part of our stack, while keeping everything seamlessly connected.

Overall, Alokai simplifies the frontend layer so we can focus more on delivering value to users and less on stitching systems together.

  ### 6. Vue Storefront & Vendure: A Dynamic Duo for Seamless eCommerce

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Julien S. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 30, 2023

**What do you like best about Alokai?**

Vue Storefront provides an unparalleled combination of flexibility and performance. One standout feature for us has been its compatibility with Vendure on the backend. This dual architecture, both leveraging TypeScript/JavaScript, harmonizes perfectly to yield an incredibly reliable, flexible, and scalable solution. The platform's progressive web app (PWA) nature ensures fast, mobile-first experiences, essential for our mobile-savvy audience. Additionally, the active community and rich documentation have been immensely beneficial, offering timely support and facilitating a smooth learning process.

**What do you dislike about Alokai?**

While Vue Storefront is incredibly robust and versatile, beginners might face a bit of a steep learning curve initially. However, with the abundant resources and supportive community, this challenge is quickly mitigated over time.

**What problems is Alokai solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Vue Storefront, when paired with Vendure on the backend, offers a comprehensive solution to the challenges inherent in creating a responsive, performance-optimized, and adaptable eCommerce platform. Here's how this combination has benefited us:

Unified Development Experience: Both Vue Storefront and Vendure leverage TypeScript/JavaScript, creating a seamless development experience across both front and back ends. This coherence simplifies troubleshooting and accelerates the rollout of new features.

Flexibility for Integrations: In our operations, we frequently connect with APIs of multiple partners. Vue Storefront's architecture facilitates these integrations, ensuring our platform remains interconnected and functional with various external systems.

Custom eCommerce Features: Our business requires the development of unique eCommerce functionalities that aren't available out-of-the-box, such as group buying, fly-over purchasing, flash sales, and more. Vue Storefront's adaptable frontend, paired with Vendure's backend, empowers us to design and implement these features effectively.

Performance Boost: The PWA nature of Vue Storefront ensures our web store remains swift and responsive across various devices. This not only enhances user experience but also sets the stage for improved conversion rates.

Scalability and Customizability: The modular approach of Vue Storefront, coupled with Vendure's plugin system, allows us to tailor the platform precisely to our evolving business requirements. This flexibility ensures we aren't constrained by a rigid, one-size-fits-all solution.

Future-Proofing: With active development and robust community support behind both Vue Storefront and Vendure, we are confident our eCommerce infrastructure will always stay updated with contemporary technologies and best practices.

In summary, the combination of Vue Storefront and Vendure enables us to navigate the intricacies of building and maintaining a modern eCommerce platform that can be adapted to our specific needs, ensuring we're well-equipped to focus on our core business objectives.

  ### 7. Vue Storefront is the Frontend of Choice for your Headless Commerce

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Halil K. | Chief Technology Officer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 01, 2022

**What do you like best about Alokai?**

In combination with Storefront UI, Vue Storefront is a quick way to start your e-commerce project.

It is customisable and extendible.

If you grow out of your e-commerce backend or other services, VSF makes it easy to switch in the background.

VSF is popular amongst e-commerce vendors, solution integrators, users and developers, which leads to many community contributions and an always-increasing repertoire of integrations.

The core team of VSF is experienced, knowledgeable and well-connected in the Vue community.

**What do you dislike about Alokai?**

Like most platforms using modern JavaScript libraries, the bundle sizes users have to download are significant, which can be counter-productive since improving page speed is usually the goal of implementing a new frontend.

Due diligence is vital. Requirements should be verified that they are implemented as expected in Storefront UI, Vue Storefront, the backend system and its integration into VSF. Do not assume something is already implemented without verification. Verify that various components are compatible with each other.

Vue Storefront does not use GraphQL between the client- and server-side.

**What problems is Alokai solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Independent unified experience for our users: We have data from various backend systems, of which none shall dictate the user experience.

Kickstart e-Commerce experience to focus on relevant user experience: We did not want to spend precious development bandwidth on standard e-commerce functionality.

Search engine optimisation while using modern technologies

  ### 8. One of the best framework for Headless & PWA eCommerce Stores

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lekha K. | Sr. Manager - Business Operations, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 05, 2022

**What do you like best about Alokai?**

The best part of Vue Storefront is that it is backend independent, which ensures that it will work with the majority of the eCommerce ecosystem, including Magento, Shopify, Commerce Tools, etc.

It is capable of delivering the key component of headless and PWA approaches viz. Speed & Performance.

Being an open-source solution it is highly flexible and out-of-the-box solutions can be easily delivered. Implementing custom functionalities is comparatively easy than the other headless frameworks available.

There is a vibrant community for Vue Storefront, and they are always willing to help.

**What do you dislike about Alokai?**

It would be great if they have some marketplace where ready 3rd party integration is available so every merchant don't have to build it on their own.

**What problems is Alokai solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Maintaining a competitive advantage over your competitors is important to running an eCommerce business, and Vue Storefront offers a strong frontend "base" on which you can quickly run a number of experiments to validate your hypothesis.

It has all the basic features required to run one successful store, because of its headless nature you can have total control over frontend regardless of your backend which adds a lot more values

  ### 9. Fast, Flexible and a great team

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Neil M. | Vice President Solutions, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 28, 2022

**What do you like best about Alokai?**

Vue Storefront has an amazing team. Technically savvy, strong industry knowledge and enabling a great accelerating point for storefronts. I appreciate how they are very clear about what they do and what they do not do. There is no marketing fluff to blur the lines and you know exactly what you are going to get.

The starting points are extremely useful, integration patterns make sense and you are in complete control of your experience. Their documentation is also great and easy find what you like.

Aside from the technology, the team themselves are great at listening to customer feedback and enabling teams to get the best out of it.

**What do you dislike about Alokai?**

Nothing negative to discuss! Just the same as with any popular company growing. Would be great for them to have more resources over time to fulfill all of their future plans!

**Recommendations to others considering Alokai:**

Try it and speak to the team / community!

**What problems is Alokai solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A great storefront accelerator and teams that understand commerce. It helps us illustrate to the world why going "headless" and MACH is a great option to fully control your experience without limits

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Logistics and Supply Chain | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 20, 2022

VueStorefront works out-of-the-box with Commercetools API. The UI supports desktops and mobiles. It can be easily extended. Because of using the vue.js web framework, web developers can pick it up in timely manner. VueStorefront follows Google Retail UX Playbook and Atomic Design patterns for components. Also supports out-of-the-box integrations with Adyen and ContentStack.

**What do you dislike about Alokai?**

The documentation has been improved but still can be improved further by adding more examples.

I like how Vue Storefront has robust documentation and its open-source source. Gives you a strong foundation as well as the abaility to make the experiance yours.

Headless is complex anyway you slice it. Your organization needs to be ready for this complex setup.

**Recommendations to others considering Alokai:**

Headless is complex, start with a great partner like Vue Storefront. It will give your organiztion a jump start that you need.

**What problems is Alokai solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Solves the issue of quick to market for headless. Headless is complex and can take a while but with Vue Storefront, it can cut down the timeline to launch.

**What problems is Alokai solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It gives you a great base for building your solution over a modern, maintainable and scalable framework and it is well integrated with many composable vendors which gives you additional time to focus on the main things.

  ### 16. Proud Agency Partner

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 06, 2022

**What do you like best about Alokai?**

As a truly agnostic Frontend platform, Vue Storefront's ability to optimize and boost site performance to enhance the customer journey is unparallel.

**What do you dislike about Alokai?**

The most common critique I have experienced is that the platform/product is a bit more geared towards engineers and not as empowering for business/admin users as it could be.

**What problems is Alokai solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customers are seeing increased conversions and revenue, enhanced customer experiences, as well as speed to market and lower cost of ownership.

  ### 17. Performance driven and flexible PWA

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Apparel & Fashion | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 04, 2022

**What do you like best about Alokai?**

Flexibility of the platform and highly customizable. Easy to integrate with eg. Magento Backend. Fast front-end development. Great team, support and service.

**What do you dislike about Alokai?**

A lot of work is needed to customize the checkout and make it work for us. Next to this, we'd like to get updates for new versions faster. Easy upgrade to VSF Next.

**What problems is Alokai solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Just a better front-end compared to what Magento 2 is offering.

  ### 18. The technology is leading edge. We're simply wanting to ensure enterprise readiness

**What do you like best about Alokai?**

Developer learning curve is good and site performance is good!

**What do you dislike about Alokai?**

Some OOTB modules are very light in terms of features.

**What problems is Alokai solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Performance oriented frontend

  ### 20. Very Expensive, Built For Seasoned Developers Not Much Of A Community Be Prepared To Spend A Fortune

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ariel W. | Ecommerce Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 25, 2020

**What do you like best about Alokai?**

The upsides are few. The only real one I can think of is it is decent in speed on mobile not anywhere near the lightning speeds they tout but it's ok. We have solved our checkout process that at least works properly on the platform.

**What do you dislike about Alokai?**

Pretty much everything. Let's start with theming. The two main themes were created by people who either have never visited an ecommerce store before or they simply want to ensure that they can recharge the clients every time they implement very very very basic functionality. These include:

1. No zoom on images

2. Images don't load by SSR

3. SCHEMA set up is missing a lot of information

4. Meta Descriptions and Titles need to be manually fixed all the time.

5. Filters on category pages don't work properly they need to be cusotmized (To use OR between options in the filter and AND between filters)

6. Out of stock management needs major customization.

7. Load times are not great and your Google Page Speed Insights score without heavy customization will be very low on mobile.

8. Almost no payment gateways work out of the box.

And the list goes on and on. It is not user friendly unless you are a seasoned VueJs developer and the community so far is very much a proprietary one where there is no marketplace for modules and very very few decent repositories that work OOTB.

**Recommendations to others considering Alokai:**

I would recommend considering building a custom PWA using Magento PWA Studio or looking into React Storefront perhaps. There just really isn't a lot that is prebuilt and almost everything is custom from the bolts up.

**What problems is Alokai solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We had an M2 Store that was not doing well and was performing poorly on mobile and in general and we thought that a PWA would solve a lot of our issues such as bounce rates etc. We have realized no benefits whatsoever so far. In fact the current thinking is to go back either to M2 or look at PWA platforms that are more conveniently structured.

  ### 21. "The better choices to fabricate a Magento webshop. "

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrew Y. | Software Engineer, Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 26, 2019

**What do you like best about Alokai?**

How the customer facing facade was develop, a super case for a network venture. Without a doubt I additionally like that vue was choosen as a structure. The approche vue retail facade takes, making a committed customer facing facade, is futureproof. As of now I just know from spryker that they have a switchable customer facing facade. With vue customer facing facade you can put essentially every internet business framework out of sight. This is awesome. This is an incredibly dynamic task that is attempting to institutionalize and push forward the PWA answer for online business. The vitality and enthusiasm is actually what this development needs, and will be a major player in the coming a long time as the entire web move to PWA.

**What do you dislike about Alokai?**

What I detest is a few points of confinement about conceivable functionalities - current generation stores are straightforward and need od some critical functionalities for generally stores. This will changed when this item will grow up obviously.

**Recommendations to others considering Alokai:**

In the event that you need to manufacture an onlineshop and have room schedule-wise to do it appropriate I would prescribe to utilize vue customer facing facade ver everything at the present time. Be that as it may, as each Framework, assess cautiously and don't utilize it since you simply like or in light of the fact that it's cool.

**What problems is Alokai solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For the most part the execution of eCommerce stores and modifying the web for the portable clients. I use Vue Storefront as a front for Magento shops. It is a lot simpler to work with, contrasted with Magento frontend.I am utilizing it in my customers venture for multi merchant store. I work with the front end and we are utilizing Magento 2 to deal with the store.

  ### 22. Waiting for next versions

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kristaps R. | Managing Directors, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 12, 2018

**What do you like best about Alokai?**

Vue storefront is a perfect solution that you can use as PWA base for any e-commerce store. It is still in the very early beta stage, but it is much better to start a project if you have something instead of zero. The community is very active, and even if you start the project without knowledge in VueStorefront, they will help you. VueStorefront is offering training, and if needed white label developers who will involve and lead this project to success.

**What do you dislike about Alokai?**

Well, there are not many things I dislike, new versions could come out faster, but I know how hard it is when versions mostly are based on community.

**Recommendations to others considering Alokai:**

It is perfect as a base, but you can not rely on everything that it will work perfectly without modifications and improvements. However, you are able to contribute original code. Meaning your fixes will be included in the latest version, and even with your core updates (if you will follow standards), you will be compatible for updates.

**What problems is Alokai solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For Magento community edition this is a perfect base for PWA, as there are no alternatives.

  ### 23. Comprehensive PWA with Vue Storefront

**What do you like best about Alokai?**

It is open source and easy to implement. Very powerful and uses minimal server resources. Easy to create and modify components since it is built with VueJS.

**What do you dislike about Alokai?**

It is still buggy and has a long way to reach perfection.

**Recommendations to others considering Alokai:**

Vue Storefront is one of the best PWAs you can get around today. The fact that it is open source makes it even morw worth trying.

**What problems is Alokai solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have been able to increase number of users and reduced bounce rate. We are looking at further customization to help streamline user experience.

  ### 24. Vue Storefront, a flexible and future technology

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 02, 2018

**What do you like best about Alokai?**

How the storefront was build up, a super example for a community project. For sure I also like that vue was choosen as a framework. The approche vue storefront takes, making a dedicated storefront, is futureproof. Currently I only know from spryker that they have a switchable storefront. With vue storefront you can put basically every ecommerce system in the background. This is awesome.

**What do you dislike about Alokai?**

Currently I can not tell about this. We yet only experimented with the vue storefront and for me, I found no real problem until now.

**Recommendations to others considering Alokai:**

If you want to build an onlineshop and have the time to do it proper I would recommend to use vue storefront ver everything right now. But as every Framework, evaluate carefully and don't use it because you just like or or because it's cool.

**What problems is Alokai solving and how is that benefiting you?**

we develop E-Commerce systems with known brand frameworks. vue storefronts adds the possibility to have a dedicated storefront while switching the Systems behind. This brings a lot of compatibility between software versions or even between different systems.

Just do it, don't be scared. It will save you tons of money.

**What problems is Alokai solving and how is that benefiting you?**

**Reviewed by:** Kamil B. | CTO w SmartMage, Internet, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 12, 2018

**What do you like best about Alokai?**

Best of all is that it's backend independent so for sure works on Magento which I'm currently using but will also work for other applications. For companies that provide eCommerce solutions it's also important that allows completely separate backend from frontend.
