Review Summary

Generated using AI from real user reviews
Users consistently praise Xcode for its seamless integration with the Apple ecosystem, which simplifies the development process for iOS and macOS applications. The all-in-one environment, featuring tools like the simulator and debugging capabilities, enhances productivity and streamlines workflows. However, many note that it can be resource-intensive, leading to slow performance on larger projects.

"XCode and Swift as a language combined make an extremely smooth User Experience"
What do you like best about Xcode?

The way that front-end development is handled. I believe that swift and Xcode alongside it does an amazing job of decreasing the effort and semantics involved in front end development while maintaining the specificity that CSS provides. Also immediate transfer to an iPhone is extremely convenient for testing of course, especially since it is integrated. The simulator and environment in general is also faster than Android Studio. What do you dislike about Xcode?

I could not say I dislike anything in particular about Xcode beyond the fact that is advertised as a one size fits all programming environment which I would say it is not. I would say that on the contrary to my previous assessment that sometimes the simplicity of the UI rendering lends itself to less effective design, but this is outweighed by the option Apple retains of writing the design from scratch rather than through drag and drop features. "Easy to use storyboard editing with side-by-side code integration."
What do you like best about Xcode?

I really like the storyboard feature of Xcode, since it makes it extremely easy to build and scale complex UIs. Once you wireframe your application, it is very easy (if you know Swift) to build a functioning application with Xcode's side-by-side storyboard/code view. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Xcode?

There is not very much that I dislike about Xcode. I guess if there were something, it would be the testing functionalities, since I do not know how to use it and it is somewhat complex from what I have seen to write UI tests. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Necessary evil for iOS Browser Automation"
What do you like best about Xcode?

It's the only way to simulate iOS Safari; not easy to support iOS Chrome. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Xcode?

Can't even run git without this on Macbook; tough to download older versions of Simulators Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Amazing IDE for iOS development"
What do you like best about Xcode?

Very easy to use. I am a windows guy and had to use Xcode for a project for my company. Apple has put in a lot of effort to make development easy and seamless. Swift is a modern and robust language. The editor was decent and has good features. Testing and debugging with a mobile is helpful and seamless. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Xcode?

Depending on availability of computational power, can be a little resource intensive. Can be overwhelming to use given most technologies are not mainstream (swift, etc.). Depending on needs, one might be better off using react native for cross platform dev. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Good IDE for iOS development"
What do you like best about Xcode?

I currently use XCode for the development of iOS applications. It is a pretty good editor, that has a multitude of tools that allow a comfort to the very successful programmer. I especially like that it is a fast environment and does not depend on the software load you may be using, that is, you can work with a large project and XCode remains agile. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Xcode?

Perhaps what I like the least is the management of the projects. It is confusing if you work on several projects, find the one you need at any time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Xcode Review "
What do you like best about Xcode?

Xcode gives full control of the app, with all the frameworks and libraries ready to be used. There’s a high level of device independence when compared to developing hybrid apps. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Xcode?

Without having proper tutorials or training, the user interface is not very straight forward and can take some getting used to. Xcode would be nicer if it came installed already on Macs but I realize that not everyone will utilize this program. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Xcode - review by a iOS application developer"
What do you like best about Xcode?

Xcode, when compared to other IDEs provide a much better debugging experience which is crucial for application developers. It showcases the memory utilization in a very comprehensive manner, helping developers to optimize the memory utilization of the app, thus making it faster to load and execute in a device. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Xcode?

Xcode utilizes a significant amount of CPU for a mobile application development tool and it's a very heavy application. This can be noted especially when you are executing an application of larger size. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Development tool"
What do you like best about Xcode?

This application is very useful for iOS app development. It has allowed us in the company to develop an application to stay in touch with clients. I like the ease and visual aspect it brings to app development. I like that it is integrated with the new Swift language, which is much simpler than the previous one. Additionally, the associated emulator is very useful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Xcode?

At first, handling the application is somewhat complicated. You need to have some basic knowledge of coding and app development to use it fluently, but once you learn them, it allows you to generate apps quickly. I don't like the imposition that Apple makes by preventing it from running on an OS other than MAC OSX (like Linux, Windows...), which forces a significant expenditure on equipment.
