Review Summary

Generated using AI from real user reviews
Users consistently praise Xcode for its seamless integration with the Apple ecosystem, which simplifies the development process for iOS and macOS applications. The all-in-one environment, featuring tools like the simulator and debugging capabilities, enhances productivity and streamlines workflows. However, many note that it can be resource-intensive, leading to slow performance on larger projects.

"Good just for driver installation on macOS"
What do you like best about Xcode?

I honestly don't think there anything here that I would call "best".

I do like the fact that we get a ton of drivers with xcode which helps in various other tasks like video conversion, cpp compilation and other few important tasks but that's the extent of its usage. Nothing more. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Xcode?

Firstly its is a super huge application. Freezes my Macbook Pro. Needs to download additional components even after an 8-10gb download. Startup time is very poor. No good feature as an IDE. You definitely cannot use the app as an ide. It's too painful. It lacks an array of features which other IDE's have so no reason in using this. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"okay product"
What do you like best about Xcode?

Simplicity of xcode attracts me the best. It is not much fast but it works well even with mac book air. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Xcode?

bugs which occur randomly and restarting fixes it. Build takes too much time which is not bearable Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Not very easy to handle"
What do you like best about Xcode?

The only tool I know for creating iOS applications and other Apple devices. It is the official tool and works perfectly for creating applications. New Swift system much more intuitive. I also like the Dark mode which allows coding without straining the eyes in the evening. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Xcode?

Everything is in English (well, that's generally the case in development) and the software is quite heavy... The interfacing between the code and the visual is still not always very intuitive for a beginner, I find. Unfortunately, for developments on beta versions, you have to download the beta version of Xcode as well, which is quite heavy and is considered as another software... You can architect complex software with it. Xcode supports all the native development for iOS, macOS, ipadOS, tvOS, watchOS Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Xcode?

Sometimes it is buggy, especially after the new releases. But do not worry, Apple constantly improves it and fixes bugs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"IDE for improving Apple's Environment"
What do you like best about Xcode?

Xcode takes full advantage of the Apple platform and lets you make enough use of Apple's own computer program-Swift. This lets you do anything inside the IDE from prototyping to launching, without ever needing to leave the area. Using the storyboards, you can create a simple prototype and send the installs direct from the Xcode gui to TestFlight or Apple app store. Xcode already provides Git servers for its own Namespaces Framework. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Xcode?

It's incredibly crowded at first and overwhelming to use. Typically even Error codes are undefined and mysterious. But it's mainly the UI. It's chaotic and daunting and it makes it really challenging to locate the resources that you need when you launch. For a simpler method with clustered menus it will be a lot easier. "One of the better IDEs I have worked on."
What do you like best about Xcode?

Xcode makes the most of the Apple ecosystem and helps you make the best use of Apple's own programming language - Swift. From prototyping to release, it helps you do everything inside the IDE without ever having to leave the environment. You can design a quick prototype using the storyboards and release the builds to TestFlight or AppStore straight from the Xcode interface. Xcode also has its own Version Control System to manage Git repositories. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Xcode?

The fact that it is the only IDE to develop apps for iOS and MacOS makes it hard to compare it against anything. There could be things that could have been made better like managing provisioning profiles and certificates. It isn't the best thing that it tends to break sometimes with the newer versions of MacOS. Also, huge storyboards are harder to manage when working with bigger teams and using version control. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"My experience with xcode"
What do you like best about Xcode?

I could use as an editor for developing my code and it recognizes various programming languages. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Xcode?

file size is very high it occupies a lot of disk . It is a pain to work and compile code on it and the environment is really complicated. I could never get my Python code running within Xcode. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
