**What do you like best about Viafoura?**

The visionary features that encourage authentic interactions with users, like pinning comments and editor's pick. The account management and customer service is excellent. Shout-out to Dalia Vainer and Jeannie Doherty who were incredibly professional, supportive, and lovely to work with!

**What do you dislike about Viafoura?**

The backend for comment moderation and viewing analytics is clunky and out of date, and there is a lack of email notification options, which I believe they are developing. That said, our use case was very niche and complex.

**What do you like best about Viafoura?**

Viafoura is easy to use from a user's POV - which is an important requirement for any product. It helps offer a safe platform for users to share their thoughts. I do like how the team at Viafoura is planning on bringing in new features that will improve the user experience even more. The team at Viafoura has been great to work with, and I'd like to give a shoutout to Jeannie who's always provided great support--be it with training on all features or how to use them to maximize the benefits.

**What do you dislike about Viafoura?**

This is a tad difficult to say but based on the feedback shared by our social media team, the moderation console could possibly be a little less complicated; it's not a big challenge per se.

It is very important for our product to be a safe space for the community and Viafoura absolutely addresses that. It provides a protective layer for our users to engage with the product carefree.

Viafoura is easy to pick up and learn how to use. The Viafoura team have been especially helpful in training our team on how to use the platform and get the best out of it with many valuable tips and tricks. The team has consistently responded to our queries, which made adapting to Viafoura a smooth process. I like the large variety of filters that can be used when creating queues and saved searches because it helps narrow down the number of comments that need to be moderated.

**What do you dislike about Viafoura?**

The sensitivity of the automod has taken a bit of time to get used to, but we have been working with Viafoura in refining how the automod responds to particular words.

**What problems is Viafoura solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Viafoura has helped us improve the quality and tone of our comments sections, enabling us to spot trolls a lot easier too. It has also improved the engagement in our comment sections,  allowing us to build our reader community and highlight the best comments.

They have built arguments grounded in our data to help us get other teams onboard with our initiatives, saving us considerable time and energy.

It has been a real pleasure to work with Viafoura, and there really is no downside as far as I am concerned. It took us a while to get up and running, but now that we've fine-tuned our moderation guidelines, it's all working very smoothly.

Just do it -- a service like this makes all the difference in the world of often-toxic online comments.

**What do you like best about Viafoura?**

There's A LOT to like, so buckle up if you truly want to know how I feel about their products after nine months of use. That's enough time since implementation to let our users settle into the Viafoura ecosystem.

Simplicity. (think Stripe but for engagement solutions)
It's just a few lines of code and you're ready to go, seriously. Their products sit on top of your website, no database, no web server settings; it's a solution as a service and they do all the heavy lifting. Setup was quick and easy, even for large websites. Our developers didn't experience any delays, nor major challenges during install. If you need it, their documentation is some of the best I've used for a proprietary product.

Support is fast to respond if you ever need it. They know their products and typically solve our issues with a single email; no back and forth. It's always a same-day response at-the-latest, and almost always a same-day solution. Stellar support is a rare thing to experience these days with vendor solutions.

Capability.
Viafoura's Conversations product enables social login and custom login, auto-moderation, ghost bans, push notifications, front-end & back-end moderation capabilities, user reward badges, and mid-comment-stream advertising. (not something you see elsewhere, not like this)

New Monetization - The way they've put this product together lets us provide an easy-to-use comment section for our readers, and at the same time give our advertisers a new channel to reach those local, engaged users. Ad blindness is real, and this new position is a nice spot to mitigate that phenomenon.

2.6X engagement - Before Viafoura we used Facebook comments, which means users had to have a Facebook account to engage. Since switching to Viaforua and their multiple social login channels/custom login, we've seen a steady increase in user registrations and in user engagement (commenting). Their push and email notifications bring users back to the page to re-engage and we can see it happening in the reports. Recirculation is a big deal. 

Auto-moderation - The other side of the coin to increased registrations and engagements is dealing with more trolls and toxic commenters. Fortunately, there's an auto-moderator that catches most of the spam and toxic user-generated comments before it is even live. It's not perfect, yet, but it's light years ahead of the Facebook comment script we were using, and the tools on the front end and queue on the back-end are fantastic at saving time moderating. It's quick and easy to ban users who violate our commenting terms. Something important to keep in mind is that even the biggest giants of all Facebook, Twitter, Google, even they can't get the moderation problem solved with all their resources.

Reporting - Unlike our last comment system (Facebook comments), we now own our data. That means we can run reports about user engagement, and even about how our staff uses the products. Their API is evolved and allows convenient, consistent access to our data.

Scalability. 
Over 15 of our news publications rely on Viafoura's products to be our engagement conduit. Additionally, we've seen zero downtime in our 9 months of using their products and constantly see product improvements. I, truly, am impressed with their products.

Live Blog
This ingests all our tweets with a handle and hashtag (to filter just what we want from our Twitter feeds) and allows embeds, giving us the ability to create an ongoing, rich user experience. The user never needs to reload the page. Moderation of replies (if we allow them), uses the same control types and users interact with the same account they already have.

I'd like to make a note about push notifications. We know these are already being phased-out of web browsers and could be gone in the next couple of years (at least for web). Viafoura has implemented an on-page tray that shows the user those same notifications, so it's already future-proof.

**What do you dislike about Viafoura?**

Opportunities for improvement?  Improving the auto-moderator. 
Even the big guys like Facebook, Twitter, and Google can't solve this problem with all their resources yet, so I certainly don't expect Viafoura to be able to jump ahead of the game in this space, but if I had to pick something to continue to improve upon then this would be it.

**Recommendations to others considering Viafoura:**

Oftentimes we spend days researching the perfect solution to our problem, even for something simple like a pair of running shoes. 

I can tell you honestly that my experience with Viafoura has been nothing less than stellar. If you're looking for that perfect photo to print and frame, this is it.

**What problems is Viafoura solving and how is that benefiting you?**

More and more, our readers and website visitors are looking for a place they can engage in conversation online, and away from the big social media websites. Viafoura allows us to provide this safer commenting space in a way that's more controlled and with more features than our past systems. We've seen a 2.6X increase in user engagement.

We also now monetize a new section of our site - comment streams.

The implementation process and integration of Viafoura it's very straightforward. It has very good documentation and technical support it's great. 
Something that differentiates it from other platforms it's the support you get after going live, they care about their client's success and they're constantly offering insights about best practices.

The admin console's design looks a bit dated and needs a bit of a refresh.

We represent more than 5,000 news outlets and digital media publishers. In late 2020, we conducted an in-depth market and competitive analysis to select an audience engagement and community-building partner for LMC members. Viafoura stood out from the crowd. Their technology aligns with our members’ core objectives of driving engagement to increase registrations, subscriptions, and first-party data.  There are multiple products and features in Viafoura’s comprehensive audience engagement suite that allow for flexibility and diversity in engaging and monetizing readers. We have confidence in their ability to impact our members' business. The flexibility in their commercial model allows them to adapt to the unique needs and requirements of our diverse member base. Additionally, their AI-powered moderation system keeps our members’ sites civil and brand-safe, which, in turn, has driven an increase in engagement, retention, and frequency.

Onboarding can be challenging when integrating Viafoura with legacy or non-standards compliant identity management and authentication systems.

While there are many problems and opportunities the platform solves, we needed to find a partner that could help solve our members’ core business priorities. Those priorities include increasing registrations and customer acquisition, increasing on-site engagement and monetization, increasing retention and brand loyalty, and generating valuable first-party data and audience insights, which is a necessity given the future of 3rd party cookies.

**What do you like best about Viafoura?**

The implementation of this product, as well as the moderation features, make Viafoura an excellent solution for reintroducing user conversations on our Web sites. We are a local media provider and publish scores of stories every day. We had given up on commenting and live chats because of the limited time to moderate those conversations. Still, the AI and human moderation offered by Viafoura has made this a viable option for us again. We still review the user comments each day, but without this proactive moderation offered by Viafoura, we wouldn't have moved forward. Also, the AI seems to become more intelligent over time as we manually override its choices.

**What do you dislike about Viafoura?**

Early in the deployment, AI moderation was still learning, and more local moderation was needed. But in the past few months, we have been able to scale back the time we devote to moderation. A production-ready mobile app SDK would be great as well!

Give it a try. The entire Viafoura team makes our lives easier.

How much the team support us and provide assistance as soon as we require it. Everything has been explained so well and the software has been a fantastic upgrade.

The sensitivity of the automod has taken a bit of time to get used to. We are working with Viafoura to fix this and we still think there are aspects that require tweaking.

**What do you like best about Viafoura?**

Viafoura help us ensure things are always running smoothly within Sportsnet.ca's commenting community, a place which -- given the naturally polarizing nature of the subject matter -- can be quite, er, "spirited" at times. Their moderation workflow allows us to see where some users may be stepping over the line and in need of a few minutes in the penalty box, to follow the sports metaphor through. 

Beyond that, the customer support is top-notch and the roadmap of new features we can benefit from in the future is very robust.

**What do you dislike about Viafoura?**

I haven't come across anything that feels lacking in the time I've been working with Viafoura.

**What problems is Viafoura solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Although we thankfully don't utilize it as much as other sites may need to, the incremental ban functionality is extremely valuable and helps us maintain decorum within the comment threads on our news articles. 

We simply wouldn't have the resources to undertake full human moderation of our community.

Viafoura is not just a platform for reader comments but a full engagement experience for our users. I appreciate the depth and thought put into the product and how these tools (and Viafoura's teams) help our newsrooms put the reader first.

**What do you dislike about Viafoura?**

Nothing of note — it's more so allowing for enough time on our end for training opportunities to make sure we get the most out of the plaform.

**What problems is Viafoura solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Viafoura is a helpful tool to drive loyalty on our sites, which is table stakes for any media outlet.

**What do you like best about Viafoura?**

The platform is cutting edge including AI engine, moderation services are industry leading and the VF team are progressive and great to work with. What they have works great, what they don't have that we might want they are more than happy to look at; new solutions and features that may be specific to us as a UK publisher. But most of all, I love that they 'get it'. A platform built by people who understand the user cases, background and our aims.

**What do you dislike about Viafoura?**

Not to be overly complimentary, but there's nothing to dislike. Moving to ViaFoura was a great step up from what we can offer our users, and in step with our 'mission to civilise' engagement. Their team, both platform and moderation, exceeded expectations.

**Recommendations to others considering Viafoura:**

I could rave about the platform, the moderation services, the interface and end user experience - which is great. But for someone who has worked with a number of providers over the last 15 years, it's good to feel excited about working with a commenting provider again. I've missed the excitement of working with people who genuinely understand the nuance of what we do, shares the passion and really want to work together to make even cooler stuff. If you've even run a commenting project where you just have to make do and never get your priorities and ideas on the table with a provider, this has been a breath of fresh air. I look forward to the future working with ViaFoura.

**What problems is Viafoura solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Moderation at scale in the UK publishing landscape and meeting responsibilities that come with that. 
A software solution that 'just works' and easy to implement.
Sophisticated tools from our side and easy to use offering from the readers' side.
An enthusiastic, knowledgable and receptive partner in our continuing drive for increasing engagement and debate on our titles.

**What do you like best about Viafoura?**

Coming from the implementation and management side of Viafoura the support given has been outstanding. I also couldn't have asked for an easier product to implement. With many sites to support this is a huge deal. On the front end side it has been a very smooth transition from our previous product. Also the automated moderation has been great.

We have been happy so far. You can feel confident that they will help you get up and running no matter what size project.

Ease of implementation and support on the backend. The automated moderation has been great since the location using the commenting system can be as involved as they want to be without being flooded with spam. This was an issue we dealt with regularly on our previous platform. Also, the ease in which you can launch and moderate a Live Story right on the page has simplified the process from previous systems.

The automated moderation system from Viafoura is the best I have worked with. It's a tough world out there dealing with trolls. Their systems remove many offensive, racist, and inappropriate comments, freeing up producers' time to focus on journalism and engagement. We are also making use of their Live Chat and Live Stories features as two more "mid-funnel" strategies to keep people engaged and active on our own sites. Editors used them today to cover tropical storms and made extensive use of them during elections. And their support is top-notch. They helped us implement features and write community guidelines. They have listened to our product requests and have acted on several of them.

**What do you dislike about Viafoura?**

I would like to be able to add comments to help moderate and guide the conversations. The user metrics could be more robust. We have requested surveys for comment screens, and I would like more customization on user pages.

**Recommendations to others considering Viafoura:**

It is a solid system with good support. We explored many options, and they clearly came out on top. With a growing set of products and professional moderation services, you can do a lot with Viafoura.

**What problems is Viafoura solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Viafoura saves time for our digital teams while keeping comments as a site feature. Too many companies are abandoning comments, which is a big mistake given the importance of engaging users on their own digital properties. Our next big step is to get staff members to join comment threads to answer questions and explore issues with users.

The platform is powerful, and the level of service we've received from our ViaFoura team has been excellent.

**What do you dislike about Viafoura?**

The back end of the comment management system can seem a bit overwhelming to users who aren't accustomed to managing a large volume of comments. 

**What problems is Viafoura solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's still early in our partnership, but the main benefit we're seeing is a high level of confidence in the quality of automated moderation. We're seeing a better overall quality of comments on our sites. The Live Stories tool is also very simple and intuitive.

It is a very flexible and configurable software, it makes easy the integration via fronted, api, .. tecnologies and they offer a really good customer care service.

Maybe the administration tool could be structured in a more usable way, but in general lines the offer a good quality product.

We offer a comments system in a large number of pages in our website (more than 3 million), intelligent comments moderation, integration with a third party identity management system, and business owners can manager their reviews.

**What do you like best about Viafoura?**

The Viafoura team really listens to their customers and develops new products and features accordingly. They are one of the industry experts on comment moderation and comment features. 
Since we launched with them, they have always made our relationship a priority. They have provided regular updates on the product roadmap, and have developed several custom features for us. 
They readily make several staff members available for calls or any troubleshooting we need.

Sometimes their product team can be a little slow to roll out features.

Viafoura has cut down on toxic comments through it's auto moderation feature, which we are using on several of our sites. They have also made managing 100s of sites easy at scale.
