## Rocket.Chat Reviews
 ### 1. Intuitive, High-ROI Communication That Speeds Engineering Resolutions

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Steve H. | Head of Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 30, 2026

**What do you like best about Rocket.Chat?**

It is very intuitive and has been the single best form of communication for our engineers, outside of face to face meetings. We have built a Confluence page to explain appropriate use, so that we don't end up with 'channel sprawl', where it becomes hard to find the best channel for quick comms. Complex technical problems can be discussed by a wide audience very quickly and it avoids the need for VC calls, which can take up a lot of time as the debate often broadens to encompass much wider topics. It really droves optimum performance and speed to resolution. It is well priced for an organisation of our size and the ROI has been evident for quite some time. We rarely have issues with the product and, when we do, the support quality and response times have been very good.

**What do you dislike about Rocket.Chat?**

There is little to dislike. A small challenge is the process by which users can clear open messages, it just seems to be a few too many steps each time.

**What problems is Rocket.Chat solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are an 80 person company servicing the needs of multiple customers. Most of our engineers are experienced problem solvers, but every now and then they come across a problem that needs deeper research. RocketChat makes them define their problem statement well, so that they can presen this to the community and get rapid suggestions to resolve issues. These conversations can then be edited and recorded in Confluence to provide a permanent record for future use

 ### 2. Streamlines Communication, Needs Mobile App Boost

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Manista C. | Internal Comm & Digital Workplace Officer, Information Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 14, 2026

**What do you like best about Rocket.Chat?**

I use Rocket.Chat every day as it acts as our main hub for both internal and client communications. I love its channel structure because we can create dedicated channels for every client project and department, which keeps everything organized and easy to follow. I appreciate its flexibility, offering essential features like real-time chatting, direct messaging, and simple file sharing without unnecessary complexity. I value how secure and private the platform is, especially since we handle sensitive client details and technical documents. It’s great for direct client communication too, maintaining professionalism and swift responses in a separate space from internal discussions. My favorite part is how straightforward and well-organized it is, fitting naturally into our small IT team’s workflow.

**What do you dislike about Rocket.Chat?**

Even though Rocket.Chat is our main daily communication tool and we rely on it heavily, there are a few real, everyday drawbacks that I wish could be tweaked for small IT teams like ours. First off, the mobile app performance can feel a bit laggy and slow at times. When I’m out of the office and checking project messages on my phone, it often takes a while to load channel histories, and switching between different channels doesn’t feel as smooth as other common chat apps. Occasionally it delays new message notifications too, so I don’t see updates right away until I manually open the app. That can be annoying when I need to respond to urgent client or team issues quickly. Another thing is the user interface can feel a little cluttered for new team members. There are quite a few menus, settings, and extra features we never actually use, and it can overwhelm people who just want a simple way to chat and share files. It takes new staff a bit longer to get comfortable navigating around compared to more streamlined team chat platforms.

**What problems is Rocket.Chat solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Rocket.Chat eliminated scattered communication, reduced email overload, and cut down on unnecessary meetings. It centralized file storage and improved internal teamwork and client coordination, making everything more efficient and reliable for our small IT team.

 ### 3. Rocket.Chat: Flexible, Secure, and Built for Custom Workflows

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Maricela B. | Call associate, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2026

**What do you like best about Rocket.Chat?**

What stands out most about Rocket.Chat is how much control and flexibility it gives teams compared to typical messaging tools. You’re not locked into a one-size-fits-all setup—you can self-host it, customize workflows, and integrate it with the systems you already use, which is especially valuable in environments that handle sensitive data.Another big plus is its focus on security and compliance. Features like end-to-end encryption and granular permissions make it a strong option for healthcare or support teams that need to be mindful of privacy standards while still collaborating efficiently.

It’s also very versatile in day-to-day use. You can manage internal chats, customer conversations, and even support tickets all in one place. That kind of consolidation reduces the need to jump between platforms, which can really streamline communication and improve response times.

Overall, it’s the combination of customization, security, and all-in-one functionality that makes it stand out.

**What do you dislike about Rocket.Chat?**

One drawback of Rocket.Chat is that the flexibility it offers can also make it more complex to set up and maintain—especially if you’re self-hosting. Teams without strong technical support may find the initial configuration and ongoing updates a bit demanding.

Another issue is that the user interface can feel less polished compared to more mainstream tools. Navigation isn’t always as intuitive, and some features take extra steps to access, which can slow down day-to-day workflows.

Performance can also be inconsistent at times, particularly with larger deployments or when there are many integrations running. Occasional lag or syncing delays can impact real-time communication.

Lastly, while it supports many integrations, setting them up isn’t always straightforward, and documentation can sometimes lack clarity. This can make it harder to fully leverage the platform without trial and error.

**What problems is Rocket.Chat solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Rocket.Chat mainly solves the problem of scattered communication and lack of control over data—and that has a real impact on day-to-day efficiency.

One big issue it addresses is having conversations spread across multiple platforms (calls, emails, texts, internal tools). By centralizing messaging, team discussions, and even customer interactions in one place, it reduces the time spent switching between systems and helps keep everything organized and searchable. For me, that means faster follow-ups, clearer documentation, and fewer missed details.

 ### 4. Highly Customizable and Integrable Business Chat

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sam N. | Infrastructure Administrator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2026

**What do you like best about Rocket.Chat?**

I appreciate Rocket.Chat for making collaboration with my team easy and its high level of customization for integrations. I like its ability to bridge with other chat systems like Slack and Microsoft Teams, which allows for continuity in communication. I also value the option for full customization and the ability to self-host, making it versatile for our needs. Overall, it seamlessly links with other chat services, so teams using different platforms don’t need to switch entirely to Rocket.Chat, which is a big plus.

**What do you dislike about Rocket.Chat?**

Need more technical knowledge for self-hosting with all these connectivity and integrations. The initial setup was a bit hard to understand, even with the documentation available.

**What problems is Rocket.Chat solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find Rocket.Chat enables easy collaboration with my team. It's highly customizable for integrations and bridges seamlessly with other chat systems like Slack and Teams, providing continuity. Its self-hosting option enhances flexibility, though it requires more technical knowledge.

 ### 5. Good Team Chat Tool With Lots of Flexibility

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Harshul S. | Sr tech support, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 02, 2026

**What do you like best about Rocket.Chat?**

Iit gives a lot of freedom and control, it’s open‑source, you change many things to fit your own setup or security needs.
This is easy to use, and chatting in groups or one‑to‑one feels smooth. It also connects well with other tools we use, so daily work is simpler. it’s reliable and secure, and it feels like you actually own platform instead of depending fully on some outside service.

**What do you dislike about Rocket.Chat?**

that some parts of the interface feel bit confusing first, for new users. A few settings are hidden too deep, so you need extra time to find the right options.
Integrations work fine but some need manual tweaking for to run smoothly.

**What problems is Rocket.Chat solving and how is that benefiting you?**

helps us bring all team communication in one place instead of spreading messages across emails - calls, and all different apps.
It makes easier to track conversations and share files without losing context and also gives better control over data and security, which is important when you don’t want sensitive chats stored to third party servers.

 ### 6. Rocket.Chat: Flexible, Self-Hosted Control That Powers Team Collaboration

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ankit M. | Junior Nodejs Developer , Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 05, 2026

**What do you like best about Rocket.Chat?**

What I like most about Rocket.Chat is how it gives full control over communication, especially with the option to self-host. It feels flexible and customizable compared to many other chat tools. Once set up , it works well for team collaboration without relying too much on third-party services.

**What do you dislike about Rocket.Chat?**

One thing I don't like about Rocket.Chat is that the setup and initial configuration can be a bit tricky, especially for new users. It also sometimes feels less polished compared to some mainstream chat apps. A few features could be more intuitive and easier to navigate.

**What problems is Rocket.Chat solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Rocket.Chat helps keep team communication organized in one place , without relying on multiple apps or external platforms. It's especially useful when you need more control over data and privacy. This makes collaboration smoother and gives a bit more confidence when handling internal discussions.

 ### 7. Self-Hosting Freedom, but Slow Perform

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Honey S. | Mechanical, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 01, 2026

I really like that we can self-host Rocket.Chat, which gives us full control over our data and privacy the marketplace for integrations is also a big plus for our team's workflow

**What do you dislike about Rocket.Chat?**

Sometimes the mobile application feels a bit sluggish, and it takes longer to load large files or high-resolution images. Also, the notification system needs more customization options

**What problems is Rocket.Chat solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Rocket.Chat has helped us centralize our team communication in a secure, self-hosted environment. It solved the issue of fragmented conversations across different platforms and improved our overall productivity by keeping all project-related discussions and files in one place

 ### 8. Security-Focused, But Setup and Cost Are Challenging

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Valentina T. | Chief of Staff, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 30, 2026

**What do you like best about Rocket.Chat?**

I appreciate Rocket.Chat's on-prem version because it solves security concerns for us. The security it offers is the main reason we chose it over other platforms. We handle very sensitive information, so it's crucial not to have employees sharing this information over online chat.

**What do you dislike about Rocket.Chat?**

Communication from Rocket.Chat to us is lacking. They suddenly increased their pricing tremendously, which is incredibly unfair. The initial setup was not easy at all; it was very hard and very expensive to set up. Since it's an on-premise solution, you have to set it up on the server in the office and configure all the permissions and parameters around it.

**What problems is Rocket.Chat solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Rocket.Chat solves our security needs with its on-prem version, which allows us to prevent sensitive information from being shared over online chat.

 ### 9. Cost-Effective Communication with Room for Improvement

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bakhtiyor D. | Testing Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 16, 2025

**What do you like best about Rocket.Chat?**

I use Rocket.Chat for daily communication with the freelancer community at my company. It's cost-effective, easy to use across all platforms, and it provides a solution for communication with a large number of users. The messaging in general is really good, and Rocket.Chat has been improving compared to 2022 with a new UI, new features, and a more stable environment for work communication. These improvements help make communication smooth and efficient. The initial setup of Rocket.Chat was easy, and inviting users was straightforward.

**What do you dislike about Rocket.Chat?**

There's still a lot to improve. For example, the avatars' photo quality is cropped and blurred. I also find the text editor poor because we have to use Markdown, which is not efficient.

**What problems is Rocket.Chat solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Rocket.Chat for daily communication with a large freelancer community. It's cost-effective, easy to use across platforms, and the new UI and features make communication smooth and efficient.

 ### 10. Versatile Communication Tool with Data Control and Privacy

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ricardo C.

**Reviewed Date:** February 06, 2026

**What do you like best about Rocket.Chat?**

I use Rocket.Chat for real-time private and public chats, and I appreciate how it allows me to share screens and files easily. It solves my problems with data control and privacy by giving me full data ownership along with encryption and strict access. I like that it has a single omnichannel inbox, so I don't have to juggle WhatsApp, email, live chat, and other tools separately.

**What do you dislike about Rocket.Chat?**

The initial setup for Rocket.Chat feels quite technical, which can be challenging, especially for teams without IT support. A simpler installation process with helpful wizards would make it easier. Also, the user interface, while functional, could use more polish. Smoother navigation and animations would enhance the overall user experience.

**What problems is Rocket.Chat solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Rocket.Chat for real-time private and public chat, screen sharing, and file sharing. It solves the lack of data control and privacy by giving me full data ownership, encryption, and strict access. The single omnichannel inbox simplifies handling WhatsApp, email, live chat, and other tools.
