"Cost-Effective Communication with Room for Improvement"
What do you like best about Rocket.Chat?

I use Rocket.Chat for daily communication with the freelancer community at my company. It's cost-effective, easy to use across all platforms, and it provides a solution for communication with a large number of users. The messaging in general is really good, and Rocket.Chat has been improving compared to 2022 with a new UI, new features, and a more stable environment for work communication. These improvements help make communication smooth and efficient. The initial setup of Rocket.Chat was easy, and inviting users was straightforward. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Rocket.Chat?

There's still a lot to improve. For example, the avatars' photo quality is cropped and blurred. I also find the text editor poor because we have to use Markdown, which is not efficient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Robust Communication Tool with Customization & Security"
What do you like best about Rocket.Chat?

I use Rocket.Chat for everyday team communication and collaboration, especially with remote or distributed teammates. It keeps our conversations organized with channels and direct messages, making it easy to stay on top of discussions. I really appreciate how customizable Rocket.Chat is and the strong focus on security and control it gives our team. It helps solve the problem of scattered communication and enhances collaboration with real-time messaging and file sharing. I like most how much control and flexibility Rocket.Chat provides, allowing us to customize channels, permissions, and integrations to match our workflow. Security and data ownership are also highly valued, providing peace of mind for internal and sensitive conversations. The integrations and automation options fit smoothly into our workflow, making tasks easier and connected. The interface is simple and intuitive, making it easy for new team members to start using it. Rocket.Chat is reliable, even with lots of active conversations, and the documentation helped a lot during the initial setup, making it manageable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Rocket.Chat?

While I really like Rocket.Chat, there are a few things I think could be better. The interface can feel a bit overwhelming at first, especially for new users, and it takes time to get used to all the features. Some advanced customizations and integrations also need technical know how, which isn’t always ideal. I’ve also noticed occasional slowdowns with heavy usage, so smoother performance and easier onboarding would definitely improve the experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Highly Customizable, Ideal for Secure Team Communication"
What do you like best about Rocket.Chat?

I really like how Rocket.Chat balances flexibility, control, and everyday usability. It's great to have the option to fully manage, customize, and even self-host communications, especially when security, privacy, or compliance are important. I enjoy how it adapts to different team structures with channels, roles, and permissions, making collaboration organized rather than chaotic. I also appreciate that it serves as a central hub by integrating with other tools, so conversations stay connected to the actual work instead of being isolated. Plus, the basic messaging, file sharing, and threaded discussions are reliable and familiar, keeping teams productive without a steep learning curve. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Rocket.Chat?

While Rocket.Chat is powerful, it can sometimes feel complex and heavy, especially during initial setup or when managing advanced configurations. The interface isn’t always as polished or intuitive as some mainstream chat tools, which can slow down adoption for new users. Performance can also vary depending on hosting and configuration, requiring ongoing maintenance. Simplifying setup, improving UI consistency, and offering clearer guidance for administrators would make the experience smoother without reducing its flexibility. "Robust Customization with Ownership, But Needs UI Refresh"
What do you like best about Rocket.Chat?

I like that the interface is clean and easy for people to adopt. The customization options actually matter because you can tailor channels, permissions, and integrations, which prevents you from being boxed into someone else's workflow. Having full control over data and hosting is a major win, making security and compliance easier to manage. The integrations with automation tools and external systems work smoothly, and the API gives you room to build whatever you need. I also appreciate having ownership over the communication platform instead of just renting it. The initial setup was easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Rocket.Chat?

The UI is dated and needs a cleaner, more modern look. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Effortless Communication, Needs UI Polish"
What do you like best about Rocket.Chat?

I appreciate Rocket.Chat for its flexibility and ability to support our workflow effectively. It allows us to create an almost unlimited number of channels and integrate various bots, which significantly enhances our communication capabilities. The platform provides real-time notifications from different business systems, which is crucial for staying updated. I love that Rocket.Chat is lightweight and fast, operating smoothly on all devices, whether we are in the office or on the move. This comprehensive functionality allows it to fully replace our previous need for Slack. Its seamless integration with our existing tools and systems, such as monitoring platforms and custom bots, centralizes notifications and streamlines communication across teams, making it an invaluable asset. One of the standout benefits is the option for self-hosting, which gives us full control over our data and infrastructure—an essential factor since we handle highly sensitive information. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Rocket.Chat?

There are a few areas that could be improved for sure. Some integrations require additional setup or plugins, and occasional updates introduce small interface quirks that need adjustment. A more polished mobile UI and smoother notification handling would also make the experience even better. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Rocket.Chat?

I like using Rocket.Chat for its control, customization, and user experience. Having control over data is really important to me because it addresses data sovereignty, letting me know exactly where conversations, files, and user data are stored, which is great for privacy, compliance, and security. Rocket.Chat also serves as a more affordable alternative to Slack, which helps with reducing costs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Rocket.Chat?

I find Rocket.Chat very helpful for internal chats, especially when it's difficult to discuss team problems via calls. I like that we can mention each tech and specifically address each issue in the chat, which makes it easier to report certain issues to specific people. The initial setup of Rocket.Chat was very helpful for our team. Overall, everything looks good, and I would highly recommend it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
