"Intuitive, Fast, and Supportive for Easy PV Design"
What do you like best about RatedPower?

I like RatedPower for its intuitive interface, which is quite easy to navigate. It's a quick and straightforward tool that allows me to prepare several documents like layouts, SLDS, and reports, even for colleagues without an engineering background, by following our guidelines. The technical support is great, and there's a continuous effort to further expand the features. It's very important for the development of our early stage plans to have an easy-to-use, fast tool that can quickly generate multiple designs and comparisons. What do you dislike about RatedPower?

The part of BESS is currently useful mostly for layout purposes and simple reporting. Different dispatch strategies, and multiple revenue models should be made available in order to perform a meaningful simulation and financial analysis. Currently for revenue calculation, we can only upload a file with energy price forecasts. We need to be able to simulate all available markets, besides day ahead, including intra day, ancillary services, capacity market, etc. BESS projects must participate in multiple revenue streams in order to be profitable. "A powerful tool to generate fast screening and report for preliminary design of PV plants"
What do you like best about RatedPower?

It's very easy to learn. With a few clicks you can generate layouts, single line diagrams and financial plans for utility scale PV plants. It also has a great customer support. The graphic output can be integrated into CAD software almost immediately.

The last updates allow the designer to simulate a 3D view and have an immediate evidence of the shadowing of the modules.

The layout editor now has new features implemented to tweak every aspect of the design. It is also possible now the editing of the bess layouts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about RatedPower?

Some features take time to master properly. It could be useful to use two different string inverter sizes, as you can do with a centralized inverter. The layout editor has been updated, but it still has a few bugs; for example, in some spots the streets are not on the ground and instead “float” above it (maybe because of the terrain topography?). "Fast Layout & PVC Output, but CAD/PVC Accuracy and PVsyst Import Issues Need Work"
What do you like best about RatedPower?

It quickly generates the layout, BOM, SLD, etc., with minimal effort. It also generates the PVSC file, which is very useful for the PVsyst layout. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about RatedPower?

There are multiple issues. First, the accuracy of the generated files (CAD, PVC, etc.) needs improvement. Second, sometimes RatedPower seems to use its own default inputs instead of the inputs provided by the user. Third, it does not take into account the shadowing of objects within the specified time window.

Also, when using the PVC file created by RatedPower and importing it into PVsyst, it generates an additional orientation that is different from what we have defined in PVsyst. Because of this, we have to delete one orientation. The problem is that the losses in both orientations are different, so the results change depending on which orientation is kept.

Finally, it lacks several inputs required for solar and BESS projects, and there is no customization available in the BOM and layout sections. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Efficient Design Tool with Room for Improvement"
What do you like best about RatedPower?

I like that RatedPower can be quite quick to do multiple iterations of the design and provide comparisons in terms of different pitch and different panels. It's able to provide that fairly quickly with little learning curve. I also find it quite efficient in the early stage design, as it helps quickly understand the capacity of the selected land area and how many panels can be fitted. Additionally, the initial setup was fairly easy and quite quick, with the software being easy to learn as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about RatedPower?

Areas that require improvement include the ability to have layers and functionality in terms of uploading shape files or KMZ files. It would be helpful to isolate or mark things more clearly instead of relying solely on drawing on the tool. Furthermore, once you get into more detailed design, it lacks features to handle specific requirements like identifying where cables are or locking an inverter to the locations, along with locking in some other features of the land and clearly labeling it. "Easy to Use but Improvements Needed for 3D"
What do you like best about RatedPower?

I like that RatedPower adapts well to needs, whether for a preliminary project or a detailed project. The recent additions, such as editable layouts and versioning, make the software really efficient. The fact that it is online is an advantage because it is easily shareable, allowing multiple people to work on the software and even for the less technical, to easily access the design, scheduling, layout, and structure, which are well done. In the prospecting or preliminary project phase, it is really very effective. The software has become very competitive with numerous additions and conferences that facilitate team learning. RatedPower is easy to use and implement in teams. It is fast, easily modifiable, and auditable. The principle of versions with history and validation is great, as is the ability to add notes. The sales teams are super efficient, attentive, and responsive. The webinars and events organized are also great, helping to connect people and going beyond just the software, which is very positive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about RatedPower?

There are some drawing tools missing, and sometimes modifying the terrain is a bit difficult. There is also slowness, especially for designs related to topography, and it's often necessary to restart the full simulation on large sites, which complicates things a bit. When I use RatedPower with AutoCAD, I have to download the layout each time, which is somewhat negative. The 3D does not always display very well when exported from AutoCAD, and the ability to export just the 3D of the modules to easily reproject them onto AutoCAD is lacking. "Quick and Responsive, But Improvements Possible"
What do you like best about RatedPower?

I love using RatedPower for the speed of designing PV and BESS plants, which is really efficient. The customer support is very responsive, which is appreciated, and the regular updates ensure the software runs smoothly. The use is easy, making the experience more enjoyable. The ability to manually edit the PV tables is a major advantage, as it allows for adaptation to site constraints and optimization of the plant layout. Moreover, the initial installation was very simple. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about RatedPower?

It would be interesting to also be able to adjust the battery and PC containers for BESS projects. This would allow for optimizing the small available spaces, for example. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Empowers Non-Engineers, Needs Smoother Performance"
What do you like best about RatedPower?

I use RatedPower for creating PV and BESS site layouts. I appreciate that it allows someone, even without CAD or technical engineering experience, to create accurate site layouts and understand the impact of constraints. It's very quick to see the impact of site design changes. Without needing to pull in an engineer, I can understand how changes to constraints, landowners, or other site decisions impact my eventual production and MW size. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about RatedPower?

Sometimes, RatedPower can be a little buggy or finnicky, but usually, a refresh or a reload does the trick. I also think having better team features, like setting a design as 'active' or having version history of designs rather than all designs being separate, could be good. "Quickly Quantify Areas into Power Plants"
What do you like best about RatedPower?

How quickly you can quantify specific areas into actual power plants. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about RatedPower?

In regards to the new BESS-features, I am still lacking the possibility of making a representative financial model of the arbitrage case, as it is not possible to count in tariffs at the moment. Likewise, I am also using the BESS-features for making early design layouts, in which the flexibillity could be improved. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Customer service is another high point: they are always willing to help or solve any problem.

The implementation of projects is super simple; truly, one can have a project ready in a matter of hours. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about RatedPower?

The project settings are quite limited and do not allow for real customization. Additionally, the integration with other tools, such as PVSyst, does not work very well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Simplifying early-stage solar project design"
What do you like best about RatedPower?

What we like best about RatedPower is its ability to quickly compare multiple PV design scenarios in early-stage development. It allows us to optimize LCOE, efficiently generate and adjust layouts considering land constraints, and clearly understand how technical decisions impact both energy production and costs. This speed and clarity make it a very powerful tool for early decision-making. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about RatedPower?

One aspect that could be improved is the management of land and constraints in the layout. It would be very helpful to work more easily with multiple cadastral plots, allowing plots to be added or removed as land agreements evolve.

Additionally, the ability to include custom constraint layers (such as power line easements, rivers, roads, or other exclusion zones) would greatly enhance layout accuracy and better reflect real development conditions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
