**Reviewed by:** Alexandro D. | Gerente de Proyectos, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 23, 2024

**What do you like best about RatedPower?**

What I liked the most is the reliability and accuracy of its results, the different proposals or scenarios as options for proposal analysis, the ability to connect with different platforms or meteorological databases specific to the site, the flexibility to use different equipment models and to add those that our suppliers suggested for the analysis of our design proposals, the inclusion and improvement of energy storage system analysis, integrated into the solar plant, knowing that your suggestions are heard and addressed as well as applied in the continuous improvement of the software; something important in addition to the above is the constant support and advice received, the ease of use and application and implementation; as well as its easy integration with external databases like SolarGis and PvSyst and other platforms related to this type of systems, these are some of the many benefits of having used RatedPower (pvDesign).

**What do you dislike about RatedPower?**

The only drawback, but not limiting, is having to limit the analysis to projects larger than 1MW, as we have had to use a second tool for projects with a smaller capacity than this.

**What problems is RatedPower solving and how is that benefiting you?**

There are other tools like HOMER that have a broader analysis for feasibility analysis involving different energy sources that can interact in a grid-connected or island system; however, this depends on the generation results of RatyedPowed (pvDesign).

Now thy are solving the interconnection issues, which are very important in a photovoltaic design, but until now they did not take it into account very much. They stayed in the implementation area.

  ### 36. Review about PV Design Efficiency

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Muhammad Arslan M. | PV Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 22, 2024

**What do you like best about RatedPower?**

I´m impressed by how quickly you can design scalable projects within 5 or 10 minutes using pv design. Traditionally, this process takes a lot more time with other design software. With PV Design, we can generate multiple designs with just few cicks and compare them effortlessly. from the initial energy yield to high end designs for EPC, all we can do in the software.

**What do you dislike about RatedPower?**

PVdesign cannot handle monthly average meteodata and it takes a lot of time to get it converted in the TMY form. Also, we can not download the satellite image in the background which is quiet unfortunate as pv design have the satellite feature but still not there for customers.

**What problems is RatedPower solving and how is that benefiting you?**

because of the ease of using pv design, we are saving a lot of time by generating more designs in less time

  ### 43. Effective, easy-to-use software for quick and iterative design of PV power plants

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pablo A. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 20, 2024

**What do you like best about RatedPower?**

Its product pvDesign is a powerful tool that is easy to use, even for novice users, that enable a quick PV plant dimensioning. It is surprising that one can obtain the preliminary capacity, specific production, and total energy production of a PV power plant so rapidly and with relatively few clicks.

Its technical support is very helpful as well, they are always available to answer all questions, or to help in any other way when the software is not working as expected.

**What do you dislike about RatedPower?**

We have a consistent problem internally about the meteorological data imported into pvDesign. In places with either very high or very low GHI, the meteorological data downloaded from services like Solargis or Vaisala does not work most of the time.

There is also the option of choosing two different types of inverter that has not worked properly for me while using it, although it is for this reason that I do not normally used it, maybe this has been fixed now.

**What problems is RatedPower solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The recently added feature of LV grouping has simplied our workflow quite a lot. Before, we would have to modify our site's limits and joingin different terrains as one with little corridors, in order to be able to "force" the software to connect all different "islands" into a single LV area (not having to evacuate power from different Points of Connection in every single area). Now we can just upload the site as is, and indicate that we want to treat all areas as a single LV group.

In the same note, the recently added ability to change certain parameters as pitch or titlt for different areas in the site.

**Official Response from Emilio García Sánchez:**

> Thanks a lot for your review, Pablo! We're glad you find RatedPower easy and powerful for your PV plant sizing.

Please, reach our support team support@ratedpower.com with those two issues so they can address them. Please, specify the inverters if possible.

**What do you like best about RatedPower?**

Quite intuitive, giving you the opportunity to analyze many options, has many built-in elements and the ability to add your own solutions

**What do you dislike about RatedPower?**

Not very extensive update of the base of components and structures available on the market (for example, agro-pv type)

**What problems is RatedPower solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The tool provides the ability to analyze variatn concepts and advanced analysis in terms of land use, preliminary CAPEX values and yielding generation results.

  ### 45. Quick but needs flexibility

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Oil & Energy | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 11, 2024

**What do you like best about RatedPower?**

I have designed a lot of sites in PVdesign from simple KMLs and have been able to take my cases far into the process. I can use this as great inputs for my PVsysts and estimate the area that will be available.

**What do you dislike about RatedPower?**

PVdesign has 3 downsides. 1. When you just want to fill the area, some sheds are mysteriously disregarded for electrical reasons. 2. When you change something the pitch sometimes jump automatically to 30-40 m, the pitch should stay the same. 3. Transformers can't be moved to fit permits, or ground conditions in soft sites where transformers must stand on harder parts. This makes Bill of Quantities, SLDs and all such documentation useless.

**What problems is RatedPower solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Quick drafting of sites and input on PVsyst alternative scenarios.

  ### 46. Great Experience with PVDesign

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Max N. | Development Analyst - ERCOT, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 27, 2024

**What do you like best about RatedPower?**

The thing I think that is most helpful is being able to visualize the size of projects in the early stage of development.

**What do you dislike about RatedPower?**

The only thing I dislike about RatedPower is the constraints, and available areas and ensuring that they do not intersect other constraints or available areas.

**What problems is RatedPower solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Preliminary designs of new project areas and seeing what we can do in an area.

**Official Response from Emilio García Sánchez:**

> Hi Max!

Thanks a lot for taking the time reviewing RatedPower. We're glad you find our visualisation capabilities useful. Lately, we've been working in improving restricted areas —have a look at our knowledge base post about it https://knowledgebase.ratedpower.com/define-different-strategies-for-restricted-areas

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Renewables & Environment | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 09, 2022

**What do you like best about RatedPower?**

A sensitive analysis can be done to find the best setup of the park; you can save versions or copy them and have slight differences between them. Good for perfection!

We also use this tool together with an internal optimization tool to check which system variant (2 module rows or 3) , which tilt and row distance makes the most sense. Or even switching to tracking systems.

**What do you dislike about RatedPower?**

For a most representative slope study a precise topography together with software would be necessary to find the highest possible amount of installable tables; so this tool cannot be used for a whole scenario, but it's also not its purpose.

**What problems is RatedPower solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our project managers use pvDesign to analyze projects for further analyses by the engineer. In the current state, pvDesign is so precise to deliver reasonable estimations.

**Official Response from Irene Negro:**

> Thank you very for taking the time to review pvDesign in G2! We are glad you like our product.

Feel free to contact the Support team at support@ratedpower.com if you haven't already shared this feedback related to topography analysis with us. This way, we can notify you whenever developments are made on this topic. We highly appreciate your feedback.
