# When are you expecting to allow a mix of watt classes for design?

We would like to mix two or three watt classes when making a layout

Hello Sergio,

A number of our clients agree with your suggestion.

This development is currently in our backlog. Although, right now, we don't have a fixed date to start working on it. Our resources are already allocated to other developments until mid-2022.

However, along one of our latest launches (the east-west structure design) we laid the foundation for the feature you're requesting. Let me explain...

The particularity of E-W structures is that it includes east-facing and west-facing racks (creating a zig-zag surface). Each side operates "as it own plant", receiving irradiance differently and, thus, providing different production curves. In terms of the interconnection of the strings of modules to the inverters, pvDesign currently offers two alternatives: a) same MPPT for both sides (strings from east and west-facing tables are connected to the same MPPT), or b) different MPPT for each side (strings from east tables are connected to a different MPPT than strings from west tables). Shortly, we will launch a third option c) different inverter for each side.

Whenever we approach the 'mixed power class modules' design, interconnection is mostly covered. It will not be a long development.

Thank you very much for your question!

Best regards,
