You can have a simple set up with the older version or a more modern look with the new version. It was very easy to get set up and everyone was super nice and helpful. The customer support team goes above and beyond to make sure that any issues I have are rectified. They helped me walkthrough a task by actually creating a video for me, showing me how to go about completing said task. They are in constant contact and reply so fast. I don't think there is a better solar design program out there. I can't believe I didn't sign up sooner. **What do you dislike about Aurora Solar?** The only thing I would like to see is an estimated annual production report that Helioscope offers. Other than that, I have no complaints. **What problems is Aurora Solar solving and how is that benefiting you?** They have an amazing program all around. It includes financing integrations with the financing company I use, they allow us to send an E-proposal to our customers, they have lead capturing tools, and the 3-D model makes it so much easier for me to ensure the size and pitch of the roof aren't completely wonky like other 2-D programs ### 4. BAM! **What do you dislike about Aurora Solar?** There is nothing that I dislike about this platform. Some suggestions are having property lines within proposal so that in GM situations we can make sure that it is on the customer's property and that 2nd structures get modeled along with the home. **What problems is Aurora Solar solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are able to use lidar and weather reporting to give the customers the most accurate offset possible. This is separating Aurora from other solar companies when it comes to genability. The benefits is our customers get the perfect system size for their home with the correct offset. The financial analysis tools, storage functions, shading/one-line documents, template proposals, and the slew of other abilities set this program apart from the rest. Also--the customer service at Aurora Solar is top-notch. They are always willing to help and quick to respond with a solution. **What do you dislike about Aurora Solar?** There are a few things that I would like to see changed to streamline the design phase and make my workflow more efficient. -The ability to view historic background images (i.e. google, google HD, bing, etc.) -A more advanced designer option that includes more AutoCAD type functions (snap ability--like what's usable in the 'roof plane' tool but also when two roof edges come together, roof plane trimming for complicated projects, etc.) -The ability to change LIDAR density or opacity -An updated and more expansive LIDAR database Although I would like to see those few changes, I would still recommend this program to others in my field. Many other tools don't scale the mods and roof for the tilt appropriately as Aurora does and this leads to bad designs and as-built or gameday changes by the install crew. (AKA WASTED MONEY) **What do you dislike about Aurora Solar?** Customizing the proposal templates. Mainly that many values (placeholders) that are already calculated in the system are not available to be added to the custom Proposal Templates. (Roof size in sqft, array size in sqft, and the percent roof coverage can be found in the designer tool but can't be added to PDFs) **Recommendations to others considering Aurora Solar:** Try it for a week and tell me you can go back to the old ways.........good luck :-) **What problems is Aurora Solar solving and how is that benefiting you?** Mostly fitment and layout verification when site data is either lacking or non-existent. The detailed data Aurora provodies regarding system losses (irradiance, shading, soiling, incident angle, etc.) allows you to gain a better understanding of what a system will produce. Additionally, the 3D imagery along with the site assessment and shading reports provide a great picture for clients to see how their system will look once installed. **What do you dislike about Aurora Solar?** It can sometimes be difficult to 3D map a home, especially with complex roof designs. However, once you get the hang of it, it is smooth and accurate. Also, Aurora provides demo lessons and, if needed, allows for you to have one of their professionals map a home if it is very difficult, which is great if you are in a time crunch. **What problems is Aurora Solar solving and how is that benefiting you?** Aurora's integrated tools allow for an easier sell to a client as they can see how a system will look on their home. Additionally, we have found Aurora's production estimates to be very accurate to real world data we received once a system is installed. Financial modeling is a trick to learn. The tax brackets and some of the utility settings require time and attention. Until today, we paid US$11,000 for the service last year, and have been quoted US$224,000. NEARLY A QUARTER OF A MILLION DOLLARS I'm not sure who's in charge of the pricing and the customer service at Aurora Solar Inc. but what I do know, this isn't is a great way to treat your loyal customers. Competitors offer such a tool, but nothing compares to the accuracy of Aurora's design capabilities. We can't wait for Aurora to offer their own solution. If and when, it should be stellar. **What problems is Aurora Solar solving and how is that benefiting you?** We're able to offer more accurate assessment of solar energy generation viability for customers while nearly eliminating the need for site visits by our sales team. Aurora's LIDAR and irradiance tools provide in-depth details we can't find with any other single provider. Their data allows us to provide designs that lenders know are "bankable" and it saves our sales team time and money by assessing viability remotely. ### 24. The smart roof tool allows a novice to function as a professional when designing and sculpting roofs. The level of customization in all facets of the program provides for a very seamless user experience on the fly. **What do you dislike about Aurora Solar?** Even though they are in the process of building it out, as of right now the software does not allow us to design a system on iPads. The software does not provide a prepopulated list of all the rules, regulations, incentives, setbacks, and finance companies in every state/municipality. It would very be beneficial if Aurora provided different style roof templates for new solar reps to practice on. **What problems is Aurora Solar solving and how is that benefiting you?** Building accurate designs in a timely fashion. The combination of Lidar and satellite imaging is pinpoint accurate and used in tandem with their Smartroof tool is such a powerful illustration to show to clients. It also projects the system's true production, which we can take to a client and show just how much they can expect to produce over a single year. The engine then intuitively calculates what roof planes are best for mounting solar using an irradiance calculator, which has revolutionized our front-end planning and gives our installers an exact location of where best to mount solar panels. We have also had a great experience with tech support while using Aurora - I have received super helpful step by step videos illustrating answers to questions I've had. **What do you dislike about Aurora Solar?** If I am honest, there is not much to dislike about Aurora. As our company's designer and site survey technician, after using Aurora, I can't imagine approaching a new project without it. **What problems is Aurora Solar solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are solving problems from the beginning through the end of our process. Contracts have become more accurate. Site surveys have become more efficient as we already know which roof we want to mount on before arriving on site. Drawing plans are then affected because we can measure how far from shading obstructions we need to be for optimum production. If any measurements are missing for the roof, Aurora is extremely accurate and reliable. There are no longer any shading questions when we get to the install phase. We are also able to warranty our installs' production knowing that Aurora's projections are sufficiently accurate. ### 32. Aurora also offers support with modeling and other aspects of their software which is great! Our customer success manager Kushali is just a click away anytime we get stuck! **What do you dislike about Aurora Solar?** Aurora does take a bit more time to set up proposals initially, but this is due to the customizability of each proposal to meet our particular market/jurisdiction, and offerings. **What problems is Aurora Solar solving and how is that benefiting you?** Without the customizability of proposals, we've previously been unable to strongly compare our Power Purchase Agreement and Cash sale side-by-side in the same proposal, but with a bit of tweaking to the placeholders in the proposal, we now have a solid set of graphs and numbers to show the customers along with our own branding and colors. ### 35. Also, I do not like the fact that I cannot use LIDAR to determine obstruction heights. **Recommendations to others considering Aurora Solar:** If you want to be ahead of the competition you need to use Aurora. Aurora is a tool that can help you gain your customer trust. This tool is made to be customer-facing. The availability of LIDAR data really helps with modeling tree heights and getting accurate shade data.
