"Hadoop HDFS: The big problem that Hadoop HDFS solves is to store big data and process big data. It processes big data using Map reduce. Big data is a huge issue now and Hadoop can solve it! So, this is what I like about Hadoop HDFS. I believe it's open source, so doesn't really cost anything to install and start using it "

The convenience of Ambari UI and API for building, deploying and managing the cluster makes it relatively easy to get started. With Yarn and Spark you can mix different nodes for storage and compute and master nodes to manage loads."

"Up and running in hours: Great open source project for a streaming data pipeline. It only took a couple of hours to get running on Google Cloud Platform. A few more hours and we are setup with several trackers for webpages and ad units, including custom events. There were public guides on how to setup the system and that made the process a lot easier than if we would have to follow just the documentation. The system comes with some data enrichments and most of our needs were covered. With their API enrichment option we can also enrich the data from our internal APIĀ“s."

"Great for Big Data: Sparks fast computing capability allows for a more interactive experience. One of the other capabilities of Spark on HDInsight I love involves the Jupiter notebooks which allows for the extensive exploration of data using SQL, Python or Scala. This allows for quick querying and the running of machine learning algorithms. The cons for me using this software are that Spark MLIB covers basic machine learning such as regression or clustering however it doesn't have the capabilities for modeling and training data in natural networks. I also find it hard to run large volumes of data at one time. I wish there were a way to process large amounts of data without having to restart from scratch once it crashes. "

"Good solution for real big data and real time analytics use cases: Enterprise ready solution for big data use cases. It is by far the best solution from performance and feature set perspective comparing to its competitors. MapR streams and spyglass is something I like the most along with proprietary formula around MapR FS and Spark integration. Support is fantastic and have not introduced managed service option which works for many of the companies to avoid the complexities."
