What I like most is that it mostly stays out of my way. As a day-to-day user, I barely think about HR admin anymore: booking time off takes a few clicks, my remaining balance is right there on the same screen, and I can see when it’s been approved without having to chase anyone. Documents are the same story. My contract, payslips, and certificates all live in one place that I can open whenever I need, instead of emailing People Ops and waiting a day. The interface deserves praise, too. Nobody had to “train” me on it—I found my way around on day one—and it’s stayed quick and reliable since then, even around payday when everyone’s pulling up payslips at the same time. To be straightforward about the survey’s other angles: I’m a regular user, not the person who configures it or pays the bill, so I can’t really speak to ROI or the admin setup, and I haven’t used the AI features enough to judge them. From an everyday-user perspective, there are just a couple of things I’d flag. The mobile app is the main one. It’s perfectly fine for a quick check or approving something on the go, but it clearly does less than the web version. Every so often I’ll start a task on my phone and then have to open my laptop to actually finish it. For a tool whose whole appeal is convenience, bringing the app closer to feature parity would remove the one bit of friction I run into with any regularity. The other issue is finding things in the document area. When you’ve only got a handful of files, it’s effortless, but once a couple of years of payslips and certificates build up, locating a specific older document becomes more scrolling and clicking than it should be. The main thing Personio solves for me is the gatekeeping that used to sit between an employee and their own HR information. In workplaces where everything ran through email and spreadsheets, even routine tasks—booking leave, checking how many days I had left, getting a payslip—meant pinging HR and then waiting for a reply. Now I can just handle those things myself. A few concrete before-and-afters: I used to either guess my remaining leave or ask someone to check it for me. Now the balance is right there on screen, so I can request time off and see it approved in well under a minute, without sending a single email. I used to request documents and wait a day. Now, when I’ve needed a payslip or contract at short notice for something official, I can download it in seconds—the wait went from a day to basically zero. HR also isn’t getting pinged with my small requests anymore, which presumably frees them up for work that actually needs a person. One unexpected benefit is that there was nothing to “adopt.” It was intuitive enough that switching to it cost me no learning time, which I can’t say about most workplace tools. One honest caveat for buyers: I’m a day-to-day user, so what I can personally vouch for is saved time and reduced friction, not the company-level numbers—payroll hours, cost reduction, headcount efficiency.
