**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

Ease of use. Great database to pull and match market data. The webinars are informative. Great resource and tool for compensation.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

I wish it was easier to pull specific data for the different surveys. For example, if I'm consistently pulling all data, keeping a filter so only all data shows up.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

How to pull data, keeping all job descriptions in one place, additional comp data that we do not have from the surveys we purchases.

  ### 2. Great tool with many potential

The certification course videos are great for understanding the basics of payfactors but I wish there were more technical videos on how to utilize tableau within payfactors.

Understanding different salary range and equity compensation mix across industries.

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

It is very thorough when you want to narrow down the pricing to industry, revenue, company size, etc. There is a huge amount of resources to learn and train on the platform and customer service is excellent. The reporting features are incredibly in-depth and offer a lot of customization - especially if you are familiar with Tableau.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

Pricing jobs can be a tedious process when doing projects. Limited education/experience customization to tailor pricing.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helping us to become/stay competitive compensation-wise.

  ### 4. Powerful tool with an underwhelming execution

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

It is a very robust tool that allows its users to comprehensively benchmark a variety of roles across the world. The API team is very responsive and helpful.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

Disorganized implementation phase. The implementation phase has taken 7 months and is still ongoing. (This could be attributed to a premature internal launch.) Oftentimes it has felt like we are working blindfolded, unsure of what we are supposed to be doing.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Benchmarking, building a compensation philosophy a structure.

  ### 5. Accessible and actionable data

**Reviewed Date:** July 30, 2024

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

I like the amount of data available to make good comparisons by position or geography. It is a ver straight forward system to use and create reports.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

Sometimes there is a lack of data specific to certain situations and titles. For example, non-profit data seems to be limited or healthcare related companies are lumped together in a big bucket.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The data available helps us build compensation models for our organization. The data can be accessed quickly, saving us time in our modeling exercises.

**Reviewed Date:** February 29, 2024

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

The most helpful thing about payfactors is the ability to quickly be able to participate in surveys. The pricing tool also allows you to map positions easily to ultple pay markets which has helped us build out a base pay structure using market data.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

I feel the uploaded survey data can be annoying to use as the filters are very picky about wording. The full title needs to be typed in not just a key word.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We currently do not have an easy way to do annual market reviews as it would mean pricing all positions, and we have poor salary ranges built out. Payfactors will allow us to do a mass pricing for all matched / priced jobs.

Nothing I can think of.......................................

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

The only piece that is used is Quick Price.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

The use of the tool is not intuitive... Our implementation was very difficult; and unless you are familiar with using compensation tools, you are in for a long, bumpy ride.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

N/A

  ### 9. Payfactors to the rescue.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

Payfactors has been an incredible tool in helping us to modernize our compensation management. The system itself is very smooth and easy to use. We have been able to implement the job description manager to create a centralized location for all our roles and a streamlined process for creating new JDs. The ability to centralize our market data capabilities and understand the full compensation landscape has been a great help for us as well. Anytime we have had any issues, reaching out to the support team has been easy and they are really quick to respond. We are really glad we made the decision to use Payfactors.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

The only downside I can think of is that the Total Rewards Statement capability is not as detailed and customizable as we would need it to be. We do have a complex statement template we use (multiple pages, incorporation of design elements and graphics), and the Payfactors capability is a little bare bones.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Payfactors has helped to bring a level of organization to our operations that we did not have before. It has saved us a bunch of time by bringing our analysis out of spreadsheets and into user friendly technical solutions. It has allowed me to spend more time working strategic solutions rather than spending time organizing everything.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

Nothing comes to mind of any dislikes. The technology is very easy to navigate.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Payfactors is taking the guess work out of analysing the market and making sure we are being competitve and strategic with our compensation.

Being able to manager pricing and job descriptions in one place is a great tool! This does make it easy to use and provide feedback to management quickly! Their client support team is great too!

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

There could be improvements in the funcitonality similar to new competitors. Also, the HRMA data is inaccurate when compared to multiple 3rd party surveys.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The need for quick data and a tool to standardize/streamline job descriptions and the approval process.

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

Can pull very granular data from a variety of sources. The recent AI job matching update in the Peer Exchange has greatly improved efficiency in job matching.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

Implementation support was good, but customer success support afterwards has been lacking. There is so much information you can access it can be overwhelming at first.

Being able to benchmark jobs using data from multiple sources.

  ### 13. Great all around compensation tool

I love that it is easy to use, and well organized. I know where to go when I need something. The Job Description library makes it easy to keep my job descriptions up to date. The pricing tool is easy to search and make selections. Great over all tool to start your compensation journey.

would love more sophisticated pricing options and selections, and have the opportunity to search more globally in the market. Missing commission and shift differential information.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Payfactors solves market pricing and placement of jobs, makes it easy to manage our Job Descriptions, and allows us to annalize our workforce and where they fit within the job market.

Payfactors also have a myriad of different roles and job descriptions across different industries as well, making my job evaluations fairly easy. I also love how easy it is to use the weight factors and adjustments.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

What I dislike about Payfactors, is that does not provide a lot of options for different types of specialists, nor different options available to choose from regarding the science field, in particular forensic science.

It helps solve what the market reflects for certain jobs I am evaluating.

It has pay data but is hard to use. Nothing else.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

Really hard to use. Not intuitive. I find myself using google searches instead of gong to this tool because of that.

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

Stores the data we need, great customer service.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

Accessing that data is extremely unfriendly.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Not solving the problems that are inherent to Payfactors - usability. When looking for a report, I have to know that you call it "Data Insights", and it's not really insights until we analyze it. I wanted to update the default that your wonderful customer service was kind enough to set up for me (I really appreciate your customer service team), but there was no obvious way to do it. So now each time I price a job, I have to go back and filter because I can't figure out how to change the default. NOT user friendly.

There is a lot of work on the company's end to get all the information into the system and keep it updated because it's not directly linked to our HRIS system.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have confidence that we are paying our employees competitively.

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

I appreciate the flexibility to utilize multiple and customized data sources for market analysis. With the abundance of compensation data available online, Payfactors enables us to pinpoint specific competitive sets, ensuring we obtain reliable and well-justified data to our needs.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

Sometimes having multiple data sets can also be a downside as it can be overwhelming and unsure which survey match to best select. We want to ensure internal consistency in our practices.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Conduct reliable market analysis that supports our compensation philosophy.

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

I enjoy the user interface of PayFactors, and the robust training solutions they offer from complete training guides, videos, and webinars. PayFactors is sleeker than other CMS systems I have used in the past. Their support system goes unmatched as well. We have had timely reponses to any tickets submitted through their support module of the system.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

There is a steeper learning curve for the data analytics module within PayFactors. I would offer more webinars for this tool specifically. All other modules have impressed us.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is solving our job description management, being able to price jobs against peer groups in the mark place, nicely manage all the surveys we participate in. Our recruiting metrics has improved and we are noticing that our salary ranges are more competitive since using the tool. We also leverage the tool to assist with resolving internal equity concerns.

**Official Response from Anna Spessard:**

> Hi Robert - Thank you for leaving your feedback. I am so glad Payfactors has helped improve your compensation and recruiting function. In addition, I have shared your suggestion about more resources for the data analytics module with the Customer Education team. Thank you for choosing Payscale!

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

Provides detailed information about experience and education requirements required for various roles as well as base salary and total compensation data at various percentile levels.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

It is not always easy to find labor category descriptions that match what I want and I sometimes need to play around with key words of phrases to find appropriate labor category matches. In addition, sometimes I cannot publish prices (labor rates) to save them (works sometimes, but not always). Finally, some labor categories do not include enough gradations to meet my needs (e.g., I need a labor rate for someone with 15+ years of experience, but Payfactors provides a top level of only 8+ or 10+ years of experience).

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Payfactors to develop base salary data to develop labor rates to be submitted with various pricing proposals. Payfactors provides the salary survey data I need to determine those base salaries.

There is a lot to explore and learn about the platform. So it feels like a bit of a steep learning curve.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Establishing pay ranges, and discovering ways we may need to adjust our job architecture.

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

The integration across the platform has been my favorite aspect as a power user of the tool. With the help from the Payfactors team, we are able to "lift and load" our data with ease. This data is then transformed across the platform and modules to lend itsself to easier pricing of jobs, survey integration and job profile building.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

The UI in the Pricing Project module could be a little easier to navigate and read. Increase the size of jobs that fit in the list. Easier to read list.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use the platform for annual compensation planning and market analysis. The tool allows us to really target anything from local markets to industry scopes or a blend of both! Better pricing all around and all in one place!

**Official Response from Anna Spessard:**

> Wow, this is music to our ears! It sounds like you are utilizing the full scope of Payfactors capabilities to take your organization to the next level - thank you for leaving a review!

nothing as of yet. I think I need an expert that knows more about the hospitality group, my rep doesn't seem to have a strong knowledge of our industry or our specific group.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

So far, a very common basic job of hour industry is not in here at all. I was told to look up the global platform which isn't and won't work. It is pretty unfortunate. I don't understand why I can't get the peer data until I submit JD's and than wait 5 plus weeks to get it.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None

**Reviewed Date:** October 26, 2023

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

I primarily use the job description tool about once per week and I think it's great! The library helps managers easily start the job description creation process. The use of the template allows us to have consistent descriptions while at the same time having customized templates for specific associate groups.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

It would be nice to be able to update the template even for JDs that are in the review or draft step. Other than that I really like the module. Will more generative AI features be added to the JD module?

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With pay transparency a common topic, we are prioritizing the work of updating/creating job descriptions. The tool helps make this proess easy and consistent across the organization.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

The job description management tool is not used by us often. It needs to be integrated with our system of record for HR to have use. Discussing options to do so.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Payfactors is helping us develop a pay strategy using the pay strutures tile. Pay ranges and transparency are a big topic and we are using it to help us approach and have a solution.
Payfactors also helps us price of jobs using external market data and be competitve.

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

Payfactors provides a great deal of flexibility in its solution for the user. The ability to blend multiple data matches per job to get the most accurate representation of its value in the market has been hugely insightful and helpful. We use Payfactors every time we create a new position to determine which pay grade is appropriate for it. We also check all our jobs on a regular basis to ensure we're still paying according to our compensation philosophy. Having accurate real time data has helped our non-profit organization make wise decisions to steward our financial resources and instill confidence in our employees that we're making informed decisions about their compensation.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**

Despite being a robust tool, it's no magic wand. You still need to deeply understand your jobs and put in the work to learn the platform, the data types, and your jobs at a deep level. Moving from Payscale's Insight tool to Payfactors was a much heavier lift than I anticipated based on conversations with the salesteam. There is a great deal to learn and comparing the two products is like comparing apples to oranges. Moving to Payfactors necessitates re-matching all jobs to ensure you have the most accurate matches regardless of the confidence you had in your prior matches. The implementation process took more attention than I had planned for but by the end I was well prepared to use the tool on an ongoing basis.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Payfactors provides the data resources needed to appropriately determine compensation for each of our jobs. The ability to blend data matches helps solve one of our greatest challenges since many of our jobs are unique to our organization.

I like that Payfactors is able to provide real-time martket data and benchmarks and the reporting tools are aso robust. I appreciate their customer support, our organization works with a particular contact but there's also the ability to submit service requests online.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors)?**
