Who is Payscale Ascent pricing best suited for?

Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) pricing is best suited for enterprise and mid-market organizations with dedicated compensation professionals, based on G2 reviewer demographics. The overwhelming majority of G2 reviewers come from companies with over 50 employees, spanning healthcare, financial services, manufacturing, retail, and higher education. G2 users with lean compensation teams particularly highlight time savings on survey participation, job matching, and market pricing projects as core value drivers. Smaller businesses and organizations without a dedicated compensation specialist may struggle, as multiple G2 reviewers note the platform's complexity requires significant ramp-up time. Organizations needing robust global data coverage should verify country availability before committing, as G2 reviews flag limited non-US data.

What are the key differences between the free and paid versions of Payscale Ascent?

Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) offers no free tier. According to G2's pricing data for Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors), the pricing model is entirely custom-quoted, with no published tiers. G2 reviewers note that the base subscription covers core market pricing and HRMA peer data, but meaningful capabilities such as the Job Description Manager, additional survey sources like Korn Ferry, international country datasets, compensation planning modules, and advanced Data Insights reporting each carry separate costs. Several G2 users explicitly flag this modular upsell structure as a frustration, noting that features feel interconnected yet are priced independently, making the total investment considerably higher than the entry-level quote suggests.

Is Payscale Ascent considered good value for its pricing?

G2 reviewers of Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) generally rate it positively, with many enterprise and mid-market users citing significant time savings in market pricing and survey participation as justification for the cost. However, cost concerns appear repeatedly: G2 users note prices have skyrocketed over the years, additional data sources like Korn Ferry sit behind extra paywalls, international country datasets cost roughly $3,500 each, and key modules like job description management are add-ons. One reviewer saved $35k annually switching from Mercer. Smaller organizations and those with limited compensation staff may find Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) cost-prohibitive, while dedicated compensation teams at larger organizations consistently report strong return on investment.

What do you like best about Payscale Ascent?

There is a wide selection of benchmark roles available in the system, and the layout is clean and easy to follow. Customer support has been very helpful as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?

The accuracy and breadth of the data have not matched the expectations set during the sales process. We were told the platform provided global market data, but the data available for us covered only two countries. This creates challenges when building a global compensation structure and limits the value of the tool for an international organization. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
