**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent?**

A single place for analysis insights, document collection, and quick paymarket comp.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

A little bit of a learning curve. Data uploads are not the most user friendly. Mostly integrated- but some disjointment.

Equity and quality management of performance and compensation pieces.

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent?**

What I like best about Payscale Ascent is its ability to centralize compensation data and streamline compensation management. The platform makes it easy to benchmark positions against market data, manage salary structures, and support informed pay decisions with reliable analytics. I also appreciate the user-friendly interface and reporting capabilities, which make it easier to communicate compensation recommendations and maintain consistency across the organization. Overall, it helps improve efficiency, supports pay equity, and provides the data needed to make competitive compensation decisions. Yes Yes

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

One area for improvement is the overall user experience. Some features require navigating through multiple screens, making common tasks less intuitive than they could be. Report customization can also be somewhat limited, and certain workflows take more clicks than expected. Additionally, there is a learning curve for new users, and some system updates can make it difficult to quickly locate features that were previously familiar. Improving navigation, reporting flexibility, and consistency across the platform would make the overall experience even better.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Payscale Ascent helps solve the challenge of making consistent, market-based compensation decisions by providing reliable salary benchmarking and compensation management tools in one platform. It allows us to compare our pay practices against current market data, maintain salary structures, and support equitable pay decisions. This has improved the efficiency of our compensation process, reduced the time spent gathering and validating market data, and given me greater confidence when making recommendations to leaders and employees. Overall, it helps ensure our compensation strategy remains competitive, consistent, and data-driven.

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent?**

The “Explore” tab is amazing. It’s a quick, efficient way to access all the data in an easy-to-consume format. I use the “Explore” tab every day, and it’s become my go-to section of the website.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

All of the paywalls. My organization pays for the service but still doesn't have access to several important things. New additions like Korn Ferry and others are thrown behind a paywall. It would be nice if the amount we are paying unlocked everything.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main problem this solves for me is salary benchmarking. Having all of our survey data uploaded into one platform is extremely convenient. Being able to access everything in the “Explore” tab is a game-changer and saves me a lot of time.

The job-matching capability is also a huge win. It helps ensure our benchmarking roles and salary benchmarking are accurate before I even start digging into the data.

  ### 4. Love the Virtual Conference Experience!!!!

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent?**

The ease of use. I access the system to benchmark salaries at our organization to the national and local average. I use the rates to compare what we are paying against data from our National non-profit.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

I can't say that it has been least helpful. The system is very easy to use. The customer support has been outstanding and I use the system almost daily. During a 5 day workweek, I log on multiple times, at least 4 days/week.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The platform has eliminated the need for manual pay equity research. The information that I need is literally at my fingertips. I also like how a low, mid and high salary range are provided for our market area. I am able to take this information and compare it to salary data from our national non-profit.

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent?**

I like how Payscale Ascent helps me get answers to questions faster and allows me to look at compensation at different levels. The survey participation feature is particularly valuable because doing it manually would take months instead of days. AI benchmarking is more useful than using keywords, as it helps by looking at the job description with me to make the best decision on what benchmark to use. I also appreciate the modeling feature for building new structures and seeing how they might play out or updating current structures with just a couple of clicks.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

The new price a job feature feels a bit clunky, and I wish there were more filtering options. It's frustrating not being able to filter by specific surveys within a company, like what Mercer offers. Also, you can't finish putting an ad-hoc job in as an official job all in one screen, which would be helpful. Additionally, the contacts have switched three times in one year, leaving me unsure of who to reach out to, which affects the help I receive and the consistency of communication.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Payscale Ascent for benchmarking jobs, building salary structures, and planning compensation. It saves me time by automating tasks that would take months manually, provides fast answers, helps visualize future scenarios, and keeps me on track with compensation cycles.

**Official Response from Brooke Grimes:**

> We are so happy to hear about your positive experience with the Payscale team. We love Marcie, she is such an amazing Customer Success Manager! Thank you for your constructive feedback about our learning resources. Our education team is continuing to think about different learning styles as they build out Payscale Academy so that we can be more accomidating.

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent?**

I absolutely love everything about Payfactors. My favorite feature right now is the JDM for job descriptions. We just set up Smart Price as well, and using the AI features for job matches and reviewing everything has made our market pricing so much faster. I also appreciate that it takes the manual out of the process, eliminating possible bias because it uses job duties for matching rather than just guessing or using titles. It essentially does the hard work for us, meaning we don't have to go through each job description to find the best match. The system is incredibly easy to set up, as Payfactors did all the heavy lifting for us.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Payfactors has eliminated manual Excel work, saving our small team countless hours. It helps with market pricing, job descriptions, survey matches, and pay equity monitoring. The AI features make job matches faster and reduce possible bias, streamlining our processes effectively.

  ### 7. Intuitive and Efficient Platform for Job Pricing

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent?**

I like how intuitive Payfactors is; if I'm unsure where something is, I can usually find it where I expect it to be, making the user experience crucial. It saves me time since I don't have to search the entire system to find what I need quickly. There's a lot of data we process when pricing jobs, and being able to filter it down fast to find matches is really nice. It saves a lot of time with job pricing and building out jobs is very quick and efficient. I love the job description manager; it's super easy to copy, paste, and track updates. It has replaced our old method of using Word documents and email exchanges, which is a big improvement. Organizing all our data in one place, easy updating, and the opportunity to attend trainings and courses they offer have all been really helpful.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

Nothing I can think of, I am excited to keep learning more about the system.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Payfactors for pricing jobs accurately by integrating multiple surveys. The job description manager saves time with easy updates and approvals. It centralizes data, making market comparisons simple. It's intuitive, helping me find information quickly, saving time on job pricing and organizing data.

  ### 8. Efficient Market Pricing, But High Cost for Education Sector

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** July 17, 2026

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent?**

I use Payscale Ascent for market pricing, such as uploading salary surveys and annual migration. It also helps with better reporting by utilizing the employee upload feature. The efficiency of Payscale Ascent is life-changing compared to manually doing market pricing in Excel. The auditing feature and the ability for multiple users to work in the system with tracking make my life easier. I like the job matching capabilities, especially how you can price by group or use AI matching functions. These features save time, make us more efficient, and improve our accuracy in job matching.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

I think that Payscale Ascent is not adept for higher education in terms of timelines. For example, the SLU is required well before market data is released for higher education markets. I think creating upgrades without massive price increases is also necessary, especially to keep higher education clients who are all dealing with budget constraints right now. It took quite a while for our employees to be integrated due to miscommunication between the Payscale IT team and our HRIS team. I have done some other demos and it seems other products can do similar or the same things for a lower price point, plus include things like pay equity.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find Payscale Ascent enhances efficiency, making market pricing easier with features like auditing and multiple user access. The job matching capabilities using groups or AI improve accuracy and save time, solving our previous issues with consistent matching.

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent?**

It is fairly easy to use and provides great information about compensation across the market

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

It is difficult to navigate between different screens, it sometimes opens up a new tab or will not go back to the same screen when you hit back. It is easier to use the legacy tab then the updated one.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It provides insights to how roles are paid in the market which helps when reviewing offer exceptions

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent?**

Pricing for unique jobs and blending roles with hybrid responsibilities is very useful.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

While the customizability can be a good thing, but turned out to be too much to manage without a dedicated compensation professional on our team. Maintaining a repeatable compensation analysis requires a lot more updating than what would be ideal. Additionally, pricing for Total Cash earnings (base plus bonus or commissioned roles) did not seem accurate, and for sales roles requires upgrading to a higher level package.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Providing market data for positions to ensure we are staying competitive.

**Official Response from Anna Spessard:**

> Hi Jordan, thank you for the review. We're so glad Payfactors is helping you build and maintain your compensation strategy and stay competitive in an ever-changing labor market. If you are looking for more information on how to use the product, you can access product-related tutorials and knowledge-base articles in our customer community, Payscale Connect. **What do you like best about Payscale Ascent?**

I find the pricing tool in Payscale Ascent (formerly Payfactors) really helpful. It assists in reviewing compensation, allowing us to look at multiple roles or multiple employees within a role simultaneously. This helps ensure fair compensation and makes our decision-making process a lot quicker. It also aids in time management, especially when it comes to reviewing compensation across different roles.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

I do wish that there was a little less manual input required. Sometimes the templates just seem a little outdated, and I wish I could have information already fed into my jobs directly from the surveys I'm receiving, and not have to plug and play.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Payscale Ascent to streamline compensation reviews, allowing us to analyze multiple roles or employees at once, ensuring fair pay and saving time in decision-making.

The platform is user friendly and makes compensation data easy to access.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

Just the fact we can't find the exactly title we are looking for.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps us make more assertive decisions by providing reliable market data tools.

  ### 13. Intuitive Pay Structure Management, Awaiting AI Features

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2026

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent?**

I like its ease of use. It's very intuitive and easy to learn how to do various things. The way it's been designed is definitely geared towards the user. I also like the built-in survey feature that Payfactors provides its customers, and that's proved a valuable resource for us.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

Hopefully, the AI functionality will be made available shortly. I know that it's available on Market Pay right now, which gives us platform that we transitioned from to Payfactors. So I'm just eager to get that rolled out in the Payfactors and start using that in the help basically, help us with completing salary surveys.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Payfactors to determine an aging factor for our salary structure and how much our pay band values need to increase based on market benchmarks.

  ### 14. Easy Annual Total Rewards Statements Made Simple

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2026

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent?**

We enjoy the ability to send out Total Rewards Statements annually. It is a fairly easy process compared to others.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

The amount of manual work required in order to have a fully functional system. The structure mapping, having to input your own geo diff, etc. is a bit cumbersome. Especially considering this information is readily available to PayScale. The option to customize (through structure mapping etc.) should be available, but only if desired.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The ability to access real-time data and use an API feed that connects Workday to PayScale.

  ### 15. Invaluable Market Data, User-Friendly Experience

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2026

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent?**

I like that I can use the market pay tool to utilize the survey matches for jobs. I also like that Payfactors provides updated data at different months throughout the year, making the data the most up-to-date. The initial setup was great, especially coming from using spreadsheets.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

It works well, maybe more university jobs and or adding the difference between an online adjunct vs a campus adjunct to their questioning with universities because there is a difference in the data and it's always misinformed because no one understands that it is different.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Payfactors to provide market data for jobs we use in our industry, price jobs, and link them to survey matches. The market pay tool and updated data throughout the year make it valuable.

  ### 16. Streamlined Job Descriptions and Helpful Market Pricing Insights

**Source: Seller invite:** Invitation from a seller or affiliate. This reviewer was offered a nominal incentive as thanks for completing this review.

**Reviewed Date:** March 05, 2026

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent?**

What I like most about Payfactors is how easy it is to search for job descriptions, make updates, and publish changes. Those updates sync directly to our public job catalog, which helps keep our information consistent and up to date. I also appreciate that when job descriptions are edited, prior versions are saved rather than overwritten. Having that historical record supports our documentation needs and helps us maintain compliance.

The Pricing Projects tool provides meaningful insights for our market research by using survey-based compensation data to show how our jobs align with external benchmarks. Even when some roles don’t have exact matches, it still offers a strong foundation for evaluating market alignment and identifying areas that may need adjustment. The ability to customize our market selections, along with AI-supported matching, improves accuracy and reduces the manual effort required to review potential benchmark roles.

We use Payfactors alongside other data sources as part of a comprehensive review process, and the training resources in the Payscale Academy and the Payscale Collective community forum make it easier to deepen our understanding of the platform and connect with other compensation professionals.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

Because we’re still fairly new to the Payfactors platform, some parts of it aren’t as intuitive as we’d like, and a few of the Pricing Project reports are not as clear or helpful as we expected. There are also a lot of features to learn, which can feel overwhelming, but I imagine this will get easier with more frequent use.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Payfactors helps us streamline both our market research and our position‑description management. We use it to compare our jobs to survey‑based market data and identify where our pay bands may be aligned or need adjustment. The platform also centralizes our job descriptions, making it easy to search, update, and publish changes while keeping historical versions for documentation and compliance. This has been a significant improvement over the Word and PDF files we previously stored on our ShareDrive, making our compensation processes more organized, consistent, and efficient.

  ### 17. Exceptional Support and Accurate Benchmarking

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent?**

I find Payfactors visually pleasing and my favorite part of the organization so far is the people. I really appreciated having a Customer Success Manager like Hayden Freitas, who has been amazing. The team has made it easy to learn and use the platform, they are accessible for questions and insight, and they have even supported our efforts to educate leaders on compensation. The initial setup was really easy with the team assigned to us, guiding us through everything. I also like how Payfactors is integrated with our HRIS, UKG.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

I would like to have further knowledge of the data reports in the system. This is mainly due to a lack of time to deep dive into training material. They are certainly there to support me when needed. No improvements suggested.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Payfactors helps us conduct accurate compensation benchmarking and maintain competitive pay practices. We can evaluate salary ranges, access internal equity, and make data-driven compensation recommendations.

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent?**

The platform’s strength lies in its ability to aggregate complex market survey data into a single, actionable library. The workflow for matching internal roles to external benchmarks is intuitive and significantly more efficient than manual tracking. It allows for a data driven approach to pay transparency that is easy to communicate to leadership.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

While the tool is excellent for standard benchmarking, it can sometimes feel rigid when handling complex, multi-layered organizational structures. For example, when trying to solve for specific "local" nuances or unique collective agreement designations within a single job profile, the platform doesn't always offer the dynamic visualization capabilities that a custom-built dashboard can provide.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The primary problem Payfactors solves is the decentralization of market survey data. It provides a dedicated environment to map internal job profiles to external benchmarks. This benefits me by allowing for the creation of defensible, data-backed pay ranges. Instead of managing multiple spreadsheets, I have a single source of truth that helps me justify compensation decisions to leadership and ensure we remain competitive in a tight labor market.

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent?**

I have been using market pay in a few different employer over the past several years. I like that it is easy to pick up and navigate. It is especially helpful when the HR systems are antiquated. I like to use market pay as the system of record for comp work.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

We are not updating it often enough. We need to develop more skills internally with managing reports and data. MP is a robust system that we are using only a small portion of the available functionality due to time and resource issues (internally).
In 2026 I would like to see our refresh automated (currently an excel load)

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With respect to Price a job v Price a job legacy. I'm using price a job legacy due to the fact that there is some functionality that we rely upon around (Market Base Salary Benchmark Value) that is not available in Price a Job. I understand that all new functionality is only being updated in Price a Job and I have played around with the AI tool there. I have to go between the two to market price and create new jobs.

  ### 20. Payfactors is a great tool for those that want to streamline their compensation processes

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent?**

Ease/speed of pricing jobs, as well as the annual bulk pricing. Additionally, the PF team has been very helpful and they are always available to connect if we have an issue/question.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

Some of the reports in data insights are confusing to figure out when just starting out. Also, understanding the integration was confusing and difficult when trying to troubleshoot but that was more so an issue with my internal business tech team too.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

So many, from Pay equity, benchmarking and yearly pricing updates. We previously were inundated with manual spreadsheets that were very prone to errors or would become corrupted. We are now only pricing in Payfactors which has helped us maintain consistency and speed. Additionally, the data insights tab is very useful and further allows us to keep all things comp in the tool, plus the ability to request a custom report is an added plus. I can go on, but these are some of the ways this tool is benefiting me and my team.

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent?**

I like that Marketpay saves all our data and allows us to download it. We can do analysis within Marketpay or just download it in Excel for our own analysis. It can age your data, and there are so many things it can do that I'm sure I'm not even aware of. I also appreciate that I can take classes to learn new things, which helps me find new ways to price jobs. It's convenient to save all our jobs and market pricing in one place, access the data as needed, and feel confident that the information is reliable. I also love how easy the integration and data migration process is; whenever we needed to migrate new data, it was completed within a day or two. Everything being downloadable to Excel is a great feature too.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

I don't have many complaints about Marketpay. There's a new AI tool that I haven't yet learned. I don't think that it's not working well for me; I just don't know how to use it yet.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Marketpay to quickly find market rates for jobs, which saves me time searching. It keeps all my data and previous surveys, allowing easy access and analysis. It streamlines storing and accessing reliable information for compensation analysis.

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent?**

Speed and overall ease of finding relevant matches. There seems to be a viable connection to the market with the data reported

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

Costs have skyrocketed over the years. It is starting to become cost-prohibitive. There have been some situations where completely different job titles have returned the exact same data - same 50th, 62.5, 75th, and 90th. This shouldn't be the case. When discussing with customer service, they responded that the data was correct and that the jobs overlapped in the market (they do not). Additionally, the data available for highly incentivized roles doesn't seem to line up with the market - roles like mortgage loan officers and wealth advisors.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Fast and easy market connections translate into efficiency.

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent?**

The search like function for market data based on a job title is really nifty. I the data sources using various surveys and Peer group data also adds value.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

The process to upload data is cumbersome and adds layers that are not needed.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It provides quick insights into the current job market across a variety of roles. It benefits me because I can get quick information at my fingertips.

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent?**

It looks as if Ascent is more integrated into a responsible and knowledgeable AI, which would be extremely helpful as a comp professional.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

I would be very concerned about cross-containment of the data. Additionally, would the AI be able to actually understand the market differences for our niche market for engineering/industrial automation?

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I would say it's not helping yet for me personally, but for several industry peers it has been helpful in streamlining the benchmarking and job determination.

At G2, we prefer fresh reviews and we like to follow up with reviewers. They may not have updated their review text, but have updated their review.

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent?**

MarketPay simplifies compensation market analysis by providing tools to manage our extensive survey library and leveraging AI-assisted pricing matches across our thousands of jobs. It streamlines annual pricing updates with minimal effort and makes survey participation preparation efficient. Importing and exporting data is straightforward, and while MarketPay offers robust in-app reporting tools, it’s equally easy to extract data for offline analysis. Our small team of compensation consultants and managers use MarketPay throughout the day, and it enables us to accomplish the work of a much larger team.

Their customer support is exceptional—the best I’ve experienced from any SaaS vendor. The team is responsive, professional, and acts as a true business partner, taking time to listen and helping us tackle complex compensation challenges to achieve our goals. MarketPay also includes access to Payscale Connect, offering online training on platform features and best practices in compensation.

Integration with PeopleSoft, our HRIS system, is an easy and seamless process involving mapping automated exports from the HRIS to the MarketPay load templates and then publishing them at scheduled intervals to an SFTP server.

With a long-standing presence in the compensation space, MarketPay continues to innovate by actively enhancing its features and transparently sharing its product roadmap with customers. Their in-product data offerings continue to improve every year.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

I would prefer if the Market Price a Job had the ability to load potential matches or other pricing changes into a "cart" and then had a formal submit/commit that cart to the production pricing.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Compensation survey library administration, survey participation, and market pricing of jobs against survey benchmarks, along with optional tie-ins to our job description library in JDXpert. MarketPay's reporting and administration tools are flexible, easy to use, and offer loads of customization options.

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent?**

How easy it is to price out jobs, I find the system intuitive to use

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

Lightly overwhelmed by choice, I feel like there are a lot of different paths that will give different numbers so at times I'm unsure which is the best option

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Payscale Ascent solves the issue of making sure we're getting the most up to date accurate salary benchmarking. It takes out the guess work and streamlines our process

  ### 27. Sleek Design and Fast Data Access Set Marketpay Apart

**Reviewed Date:** November 05, 2025

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent?**

I appreciate the system's design, as well as how quickly it allows me to pull and present data. The support provided by the implementation and account management team has also been excellent. Having used other well-known compensation tools, I can say that none have matched the sleek design and agility offered by Marketpay.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

There isn't much to highlight. At the moment, we are using PeopleSoft, and unfortunately, we are unable to interface it effectively with our tool. As a result, we cannot transfer information through an interface, which I believe is an issue with PeopleSoft itself. Additionally, the tool requires users to have a solid understanding of job pricing and a strong background in survey data to use it efficiently. This could be quite frustrating for those who are new to the compensation field.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am now able to recognize the value of our roles and quickly conduct analyses that lead to well-informed pay decisions. Previously, our organization lacked a formal compensation structure and reliable pay data. With these new tools, I can better support the team in recruiting and mobilizing talent efficiently and in a financially responsible way.

How quick it can be to pull simple data for on-the-fly comp reviews

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

How some jobs can be matched with 30 million pricing summary descriptions and some just do not have any matches at all - and they aren't even like an obscure job,

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's helping me be able to prepare my compensation analyses/research/projects to Sr. leadership with confidence because the market data doesn't lie.

**Reviewed Date:** December 02, 2025

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent?**

There is a wide selection of benchmark roles available in the system, and the layout is clean and easy to follow. Customer support has been very helpful as well.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

The accuracy and breadth of the data have not matched the expectations set during the sales process. We were told the platform provided global market data, but the data available for us covered only two countries. This creates challenges when building a global compensation structure and limits the value of the tool for an international organization.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Payfactors gives us a centralized place to start when reviewing benchmark roles, but it does not fully solve our compensation challenges. The limited global coverage means we still need to pull data from multiple external sources, so the platform only provides a partial reference point rather than a complete solution

**Official Response from Brittany Steinke:**

> Hi Zak,

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review! It's great to hear that the support team has been helpful and that Payfactors is easy to use to benchmark your roles. We do take your feedback about the global data you have access to seriously, and want to make sure you're finding value in your investment. I'll be following up with our team internally to address your concerns and ensure we are providing the right recommendations and solutions to solve your compensation challenges.

We appreciate your partnership and the opportunity to improve your experience as a customer.

**Reviewed Date:** October 13, 2025

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent?**

Broad and Customizable Market Data Access

Multiple survey integrations: Payfactors aggregates data from hundreds of sources, including Milliman, Mercer, Radford, Willis Towers Watson, and industry-specific surveys.

Data blending: It allows users to blend multiple data sets (custom-weighted) to create a “composite market rate,” which can be more reflective of your true labor market than a single survey.

Localized market cuts: The platform supports geographic differentials, so you can view pay data by region, state, or metro area — helpful for multi-location employers like GCI.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

Learning curve: While robust, the interface can feel unintuitive to new users — especially for blending surveys or building advanced reports.

Data overload: The volume of available data and filters can lead to analysis paralysis without strong governance or clear methodology.

Occasional performance lags: Users report slower load times or crashes when working with large data sets or multi-survey blends.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Payfactors provides GCI with a centralized, data-driven compensation platform that supports market competitiveness, internal equity, compliance, and strategic workforce planning.
It enables HR and business leaders to make compensation decisions that are accurate, transparent, and defensible — critical for a regulated, geographically diverse, and technically complex organization like GCI.

I appreciate how Marketpay helps with market pricing analyses during annual reviews and makes it easier to spot disparities across roles or demographics with its reporting tools. The easy setup and report generation makes my work easier and faster, and pulling ad-hoc pricing for new roles is quick and straightforward. Marketpay connected smoothly to ADP for payroll syncing, which ensured that company adjustments flowed right into pay runs. Coming from Radford, I found Marketpay handles our broader needs with less manual data wrangling.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

There's a learning curve if you're not deep into company analysis. Explaining it to others or pulling quick insights takes time.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Marketpay helps with market pricing analyses and pay equity analysis, making it easier to spot disparities across roles. Its easy setup and report generation streamline my workflow, making work easier and faster.

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent?**

I like the many capabilities of Payfactors to assist with compensation, the amount of data available, and the useful filters. I appreciate the ability to create reports, and I find speaking with compensation experts through the platform valuable. I also like that the reports are exportable, giving me a solid starting point for benchmarking positions and aligning pay grades.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

I honestly do not believe that I use the tools to the max capability. I wish that the notes were exportable. In the jobs tab, when pricing the job, the export to an Excel sheet doesn't include the notes that I saved into the survey cut. I would like the ability to save articles in connect in order to go back to them later.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Payfactors helps with pay competitiveness and reduces manual work. It provides valuable resources like data filters, reporting capabilities, and expert consultations. Exportable reports give me a starting point for benchmarking positions and setting paygrades.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

We currently don’t have the AI option at my company so that would be nice

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Marketpay to market price jobs. It helps us stay competitive in the market and ensures we pay our employees fairly. I like its ease of use and the wide set of data it provides from various industries.

  ### 36. Simplifies Job Pricing, But Survey Participation Functionality Needs Work

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent?**

I like how easy it is to find jobs and market data using the interface. The process of manually looking up surveys to find data points was labor-intensive a few years ago, and Payfactors has significantly improved this experience. The data upload process is very straightforward and quick. Customer support is always very helpful and knowledgeable.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

The survey participation process is not intuitive and can be clunky, even after attending webinars and reading materials. Last survey season, it took a lot of tickets and waiting on the engineering team to fix bugs to get the surveys ready for participation. Also, sometimes the survey templates don't align perfectly with those provided by vendors. Also, Data Insights can be difficult to work with and doesn't always allow filtering in the way we want. We also wish that the pricing details graphic would always display when looking at a job, even with just one pricing match.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Payfactors to simplify job pricing and gain insights into our job architecture and pay ranges relative to market. It's easy to find market data through its interface, which is a big improvement over manual survey data searches.

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent?**

I think the user interface of Payfactors is excellent! I've been using Payfactors for the last five and a half years. They have definitely upgraded the system, but done it over time, which was easy to navigate. There are so many features, we have just barely scratched the surface of how we can use it.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

When I started using Payfactors, they had a different customer service model and I had a dedicated PF analyst to help me learn the system. They have since gone to a centralized model that I do not find to be as helpful.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Payfactors allows us to quickly turnaround benchmarking data to our HR teams to give them what they need and in a standardized manor.

At G2, we prefer fresh reviews and we like to follow up with reviewers. They may not have updated their review text, but have updated their review.

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent?**

Staff are very friendly and helpful at Marketpay. They have helped us work through multiple questions and problems we were having. The system has been very helpful in reviewing our market data and finding market matches for positions. I like that market pay is able to integrate with Workday and pulls in our data. The trainings provided by Marketpay can also be very helpful with the system, but also for keeping up on different situations going on with regulations and compensation practices. I appreciate the Marketpay migration process and how it helps easily update your survey matches.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

Nothing at the moment. I think having a better understanding of reporting would be helpful and since there are so many reports it can be hard to choose sometimes which is the best one. Not a dislike but a challenge sometimes.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Marketpay is helping us with benchmarking and improving our processes. They are helping us with coming up with a plan for updating our job profiles and matches in the system. I think the suggestions being made will help us in the long term with our ongoing projects and career architecture.

Having a one-stop shop for everything I manage is incredibly helpful. Whether I need to aggregate our survey data, upload total rewards statements, or store job descriptions, this platform lets me keep everything organized in a single location. I also find it very user-friendly.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

I dont have any downsides to using Payfactors.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Job Description Management: Helping us standardize parts of our job descriptions so they're consistent (e.g. our people leaders have the same responsibilities in the same verbiage, vs managers having to write them out themselves in their own style)

Comp Management and Salary Benchmarking: easier way to match our jobs when we can see our surveys in one place, able to add notes to our projects to remind us how we benchmarked when looking at it months later, ability to roll forward our survey data

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent?**

We love the HRMA market data and the ability to house our job descriptions in a central location. We love the ability to data insights that is feed over from our HCM.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

If we had to nit pick, perhaps the ability to use the SmartPricing to revaluate our existing job match to ensure we are consistent.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We acquire new business on a regular basis, and this requires us to create and match new jobs. Smart pricing frees us from having to do the initial job matching manually.

At G2, we prefer fresh reviews and we like to follow up with reviewers. They may not have updated their review text, but have updated their review.

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent?**

Where to start, Market Pay has so many features and they continually are updating the dashboard to help their customers with the changing market. Their customer service is beyond amazing, we have quarterly meetings with Sarah who goes over all the updates of Market Pay and answers all questions we have. She is always so helpful and makes sure all our questions are answered. Even when we do not have scheduled meetings when we reach out to Sarah she is always quick to respond.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

I wouldn't say this is not helpful but something that would be nice to be able to do, if you could click on the main dashboard on where it shows your stats of the percentage of priced jobs and then being able to click to see what's priced, slotted or on the neither. And it could just take you to the jobs that are priced, slotted, or neither instead of having to pull a report of them.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I wouldn't say we have any current problems but one of our survey vendors updated one of their policies where they cannot release the survey to market pay, we have to go out and upload it ourselves. It does add another step for us and Sarah has suggested that we reach out to the vendors customer service as they are also doing so because this is more of an inconvenience to the customer.

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent?**

Just some of the things I like:
- global ability to manage purchased comp data in an easy and quick way that lets us have access timely
- access to additional compensation data that's real-time sourced
- job description management system that lets us globally manage systems and support our leaders and HRBPs with easy access
- webinars on pay education and transparency that keeps us aware of global changes
- great customer service support in all the areas

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

The opportunity to continually support truly global companies. It's grown but I'm excited to see it evolve even more.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's giving us a global system to support our compensation philosophy through market data, as well as supporting a global job description repository.

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent?**

I use Marketpay mainly for market pricing and compensation analysis, and what I like most about it is its accurate and up-to-date market data. This helps me provide reliable benchmarks for salaries and benefits, allowing me to make fair, competitive pay decisions quickly. Setting it up was easy and stress-free, which is a huge plus for me.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

One area Marketpay could improve is providing more customization for specific industries. Marketpay could improve by offering more industry-specific filters and templates, allowing salary benchmarks to be tailored to niche roles and organizational needs.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Marketpay for market pricing and compensation analysis. It solves the problem of inconsistent salary data by providing accurate, up-to-date market data, helping me make fair, competitive pay decisions quickly with reliable salary benchmarks.

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent?**

I love how Payfactors offers an easy-to-use platform that allows me to quickly look up a job and access the accompanying market data efficiently. Its intuitive interface makes it simple to navigate and streamline workflows, which saves me considerable time. This user-friendly experience ensures I can swiftly find the information I need, thereby enhancing my productivity and effectiveness in handling market data matching tasks.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

I find the integration file setup challenging and the UDF functionality cumbersome. The process of submitting suggestions requires multiple votes, and there is uncertainty about whether they will be addressed in product development. Additionally, it's difficult to add and delete UDFs, and I would prefer a clearer process for receiving updates on whether feedback will be part of future releases. The initial setup involved a lot of administrative work, which was cumbersome.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Payfactors to consolidate survey results into composites, find it easy to use for quickly looking up job and market data, enhancing efficiency. We have also created robust reports for senior management that have been well received.

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent?**

I really appreciate using Payfactors for market pricing and job description management. The job description management tool stands out with its ability to route job descriptions to managers and track changes efficiently, making it very useful for our company. It is immensely beneficial to have access to all of my job and people data in one consolidated place. This feature enhances the reporting capabilities, which are extensive, and I'm excited about potentially streamlining the offer-making process with my Talent Acquisition team. Furthermore, I am excited about Payfactors' embrace of AI and how they are enhancing reporting and dashboard capabilities. The ease of loading our people data into the tool during the initial setup was also a highlight. Overall, Payfactors offers an impressive array of features that contribute significantly to our operations.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

Payfactors is a fairly large investment, and there are additional features that I wish were included in the basic package. It would be immensely helpful if you could load third party data at no cost.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Payfactors for market pricing and job description management. It streamlines job description routing and tracking, consolidates job and people data, enhances reporting, and aids collaboration with my Talent Acquisition team.

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent?**

What I like best about MarketPay is its accessibility to comprehensive market data and the ability to drill down to granular details when needed. The platform centralizes market data from multiple surveys, making it easy to access without juggling multiple spreadsheets

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

The reporting functionality is not very intuitive and provides only limited flexibility when it comes to extracting data from various reports. This limitation makes it difficult for us to fully utilize the system's capabilities.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

MarketPay tackles two major issues: pay equity and market competitiveness. For pay equity, the platform delivers reliable, current market data, which helps us make fair and consistent compensation decisions across different roles, locations, and demographic groups. This not only supports compliance but also reinforces internal equity. When it comes to market competitiveness, MarketPay offers fast access to detailed survey data and in-depth insights, enabling us to price positions accurately and maintain competitive pay structures. This, in turn, aids in attracting and retaining top talent while staying aligned with our organizational strategy. Ultimately, the main advantage for us is the assurance that our compensation decisions are informed by data, equitable, and competitive within the market.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The job description manager and market pricing tools are the major features and work great.

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent?**

I like the fact that you can leverage your survey participation data from mercer to Sullivan Cotter to see year over year changes in survey results. I also enjoy the available Job Description Manager. It is a great way to centralize job descriptions and manage requests from the business. I also enjoy the ideas link where you can recommend some features that you find helpful.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent?**

I would not say I dislike anything in particular about Payfactors. I would like to be able to find minimum wage and exempt salary threshold in Payfactors.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Payfactors helps provide market pricing analysis for jobs on the fly. That helps with adhoc requests. We are also able to see how the market is shifting relative to our salary grades, providing for opportunities to update our salary grades.
