# Best CAT platforms for managing multilingual projects

Hey G2! I want to start a discussion with the computer-assisted translation platforms community on G2. What are the best CAT platforms for managing multilingual projects? My current top CAT platforms are Smartcat, memoQ, and Phrase. Have you used any of the software solutions below?. 1. Smartcat – Best for Collaborative, Cloud-Native Project Management with Marketplace Smartcat is recognized as a cloud-based, all-in-one platform combining CAT tools, translation management (TMS), and an integrated freelance marketplace. It’s particularly effective for agencies or internal localization departments needing seamless coordination across people, projects, and payments. 2. memoQ – Best for Enterprise-Grade Translation Memory & Workflow Control memoQ is noted for delivering powerful translation memory management, granular workflow control, and deep customization tailored for enterprise localization teams. It suits buyers requiring strong translation consistency, customizable tasks, and tight CAT system governance across large-scale multilingual operations. 3. Phrase Localization Platform – Best for End-to-End CAT with Enterprise-Grade Automation Phrase is known for its comprehensive CAT suite that bundles translation memory, glossary, AI-powered machine translation, task automation, and analytics into one scalable platform. For localization managers and language service providers, it offers robust automation, quality control, and enterprise-ready reporting from a single pane of glass. 4. Lokalise – Best for AI-Orchestrated, Context-Aware Localization Lokalise stands out for its intelligent routing of translations, such as automatically choosing the best AI engine based on language pair, content type, and context. It works especially well for product teams managing mobile apps, websites, and software who want smooth, automated localization with strong workflow integration. 5. Crowdin – Best for Agile, Team-Centric Localization Collaboration Crowdin, while primarily a translation management system, is also recognized for its CAT capabilities and AI-powered localization collaboration. It’s optimized for development and marketing teams needing fast, iterative localization cycles tightly integrated into their software release pipelines. 6. Google Cloud Translation API – Best for High-Speed, Broad-Language Machine Translation Google Cloud Translation API is best known for delivering real-time, reliable machine translation across 100+ languages, with a developer-friendly API that streamlines integration into multilingual workflows. It’s ideal for teams needing scalable, automated translation layers within their applications, with minimal overhead. 7.
Used Lokalise on multi-app releases (web/iOS/Android). It’s very dev-friendly: clean API/CLI, Git PR sync, Figma context, solid mobile SDKs, and easy review flows, great for CI/CD. We gate builds on missing keys/placeholder mismatches via webhooks and it’s been reliable.

Trade-offs: TM/terminology depth and advanced QA rules aren’t as rich as memoQ/Phrase, and costs can climb with seats/locales.

Bottom line: for product teams shipping often, I’d rank Lokalise ≥ Phrase, above Smartcat; for linguist-heavy, enterprise TM control, memoQ still wins.

Has anyone spent time using Lokalise? I think it could rank higher on my list, but I haven't used it myself.
