Juniper Square was implemented at our firm when we launched both an open-end fund and a closed-end fund several years ago. Since we are a small firm, it allowed us to easily automate the subscription process for the funds and setup the investor accounts/positions in a relatively short time-frame. Additionally, it allows the team to more efficiently distribute documents to the investors on a quarterly basis or as needed. Our investors also like that it serves as their own document repository for the funds. It has been a game-changer for our firm.

We also value the timely Customer Support that we have received from Juniper Square. Questions are answered and issues are resolved quickly.

Our firm does not have any major things that we dislike about Juniper Square. We did have some issues with the automated subscription process with some investors missing items or not following the directions closely enough so we had to fix some issues during the subscription process. Juniper Square was pitched as a complementary tool with promised Yardi integration to streamline investor management, but it deeply disappointed as little more than a glorified cloud storage portal—another redundant spot to stash PDFs for investors—with no meaningful accounting integration to process payments, push reports, or display financial statements; its most "advanced" feature, a clunky OCR reader that barely handles some K1s, is useless if you’re already using robust accounting software, forcing constant downloads and uploads that make it hugely cumbersome. The sales and support teams keep dangling vague promises of future accounting integration, but after two years of waiting, there’s still nothing, and while it might become worthwhile if it ever evolves into a true all-in-one solution, for now, the effort and maintenance far outweigh the benefits—especially since its basic tools like OCR and document storage are already standard in software most companies use. For me, the best part about Juniper Square is the platform and the technology. I love how they are constantly improving and the technology never gets stale like other investor portals or CRMs. It’s a big differentiator among all other fund administrators. The people are really great as well, and always extremely helpful with anything that I need. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for an admin, or investor portal. I wish there was an easier way to find check payments and other transactions that require approval from the dashboard page. Currently, I need to be told what investment entities specifically have check distributions pending. Then I must manually navigate there to approve. From the investor standpoint, from receiving, reviewing and executing offering documents, it is a fairly straightforward and easy to use process. From the syndicator side, I can see where the prospects are through every step of the way. Our transition from a spreadsheet and manual document system to Juniper was a game changer. But the most frustration and disappointment I have is that they continually fail in many of the simple things and they have proven to be tone deaf in our asks for simple fixes - which are universal to all users, not just us.
