## Grain Reviews
  ### 1. Love Grain's highlights and stories feature!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matthew K. | Co-Founder and Lead Strategist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 16, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

I love the fact that Grain allows the ability to package together highlights into stories that later can be watched. This has the ability to create sort of a highlight feel for other people to consume! I love it.

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

It is not optimized for mobile. Considering so many people will view the videos on their phones, this is a pretty big gap in usability. Right now it's a very poor UX experience using the mobile experience.

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer interviews, investor pitch recording videos. I am able to create stories of different topics and share it for viewing of other parties. It's a very excellent tool.

  ### 2. I love using Grain for my transcriptions!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Writing and Editing | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 27, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

I most appreciate that Grain provides accurate, fast transcripts for my phone and video calls. I also enjoy being able to view/hear Zoom recordings in the same space as the transcripts so that I can easily work on my writing projects.

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

I do wish it was a little easier to edit transcripts in Grain while listening to each recording. Perhaps there could someday be a way to enter a mode where the recording continues while words are clicked on to make quick edits.

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I had trouble finding an affordable but strong transcription generator. I often typed out my transcripts by hand, which took up so much time. My performance has increased with the transcripts produced in Grain. I still edit and tweak things here and there, but these are a huge help in my daily writing.

  ### 3. Helpful way to manage my training videos.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Laura D. | CEO Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 23, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

Being able to creat highlights (aka clips) that I can put together for a specific purpose. This is really helpful, especially when reusing video for a subsequent class.

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

The captioning hasn't worked well for me. The accuracy is low and it takes a long time to edit. Also, the software seems to get hung up when I'm editing. This has been a disappointment.

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Editing my videos and reusing my videos. I'm creating a library of content that I can use with clients and students. I can put together the content I want and then send a link to my clients. They can easily watch it and then we can discuss and work on it together.

  ### 4. Makes it easy to share highlights from meetings

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aravindh D. | Cofounder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 23, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

I just tap the record button in Zoom and it automatically records to Grain. Often after meetings (especially customer meetings) I want to share sections of what the customer said. With Grain I can search by text thanks to the transcription feature, create a small clip, and share that with my team.

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

The transcription can take some time, so I'm left waiting for a bit after my meeting ends to actually share the clips with my teammates.

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Grain allows my teammates to have visibility into what customers are saying about our product - it gives them the real voice of the customer without having to sit on the whole meeting or watch the full recording.

  ### 5. Don't watch your recordings, read them.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 08, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

The time saved by being able to read the transcript of the video recording and highlight important bits, means I can save 70% of the time it took me to admin user research. I have compared multiple products on the market and the transcript quality and UX of interaction was by far the best.

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

The grain meeting recorder was not as useful as I expected, perhaps I need to spend more effort learnign how to use it with my process, but so far I was not able to achieve highlighting the meeting in real time.

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Saving time on user research by cutting down the time needed to rewatch video recordings.
The highlight functionality and story creation makes it easy to share with the rest of the team and busy execs, who want to get the learnings of the 50 minute usability session in 2-3 minutes.

  ### 6. Grain is a great software for Zoom transcription

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alana D. | Data Science Analyst, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 27, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

I really like using Grain to transcribe Zoom meetings. I frequently have to meet with users/clients over Zoom to gather feedback about our software, hear their opinions, and share their opinions with management. Grain integrates with Zoom really nicely, and I am also able to grab little snippets and compile them into videos. These are great for sharing with management - it allows them to see + hear the user, without taking up too much time.

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

I wish it were possible to create two stories separately, and then merge them. I like to create one story for each user in my interviews, but it would be convenient if I could also splice these together.

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Since I do a lot of user onboarding at my job, I like being able to directly pass messages from users along to management team. It's much more "real" for them to hear positive or negative feedback directly from the users. Grain also lets me do this in a way that is time-effective.

  ### 7. A great tool!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Staffing and Recruiting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 16, 2023

**What do you like best about Grain?**

It helps me taking notes during and after a meeting! Also, really loving the AI update that creates a summary of the meeting.

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

Sometimes the transcription is not a 100% accurate!

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Recording meetings and taking notes

  ### 8. The perfect companion for transcripts

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shreyas S. | Analyst - Lead Portfolio Management, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 25, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

The best thing about Grain is that it was able to provide transcripts even when speaking to people using different accents. It was able to pick up words which greatly helped in minimizing the effort required to listen to the recording.

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

I would not call it a downside but there is a lot of scope for improvement in recognizing accents. I feel that if there was a model that would be able to recognize even hard Indian accents, it would greatly help in getting an even more accurate transcript. Also, as a student, I might not be able to immediately buy any subscription of Grain, so that would be another thing to focus on.

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I had to take a lot of interviews to try to understand the market of a product on which I was conducting some research. It also helped me get transcripts for the interviews I had conducted, which would then be attached to the appendix of the research I had to submit for review. My effort was greatly minimized since the transcript was very good, and very few modifications were needed. I feel that Grain solves the issue of drafting MoM as well as as a record keeper of every meeting where it is used.

  ### 9. Great tool for recording and transcribing presentations

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rebekah E. | Manager of Family Food Programs, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 23, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

I found the ability to create a transcript of our video presentations and webinars very useful and time-saving. In addition, the ability to search for keywords within the transcript super useful for finding quick takeaways, quotes and important points that we could quickly turn around for asset creation post-event. I also found value in using Grain when doing edits to the video after the event as Grain helped me locate the time signature through the transcript search, where key words or concepts were discusssed, helping guide my editing.

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

The platform takes a bit of getting useful and isn't as intuitive as it could be, but it is navigable and once you understand the landscape is very useful. I think a review of the user experience that was informed by people who had never used it before could provide insight there.

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Grain helped provide a recording of online events that were paired with a searchable transcript immediately after the event was over. This saved time and helped with our asset creation post-event.

  ### 10. Grain is a Powerful Tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 23, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

Grain allows for asynchronous, personal feedback, and I love how easy it makes sharing information across teams. I'm able to listen in on meetings without being present in a Zoom chat, which is helpful when I don't have the bandwidth to join, but still want to keep an eye on how things are going. We have been using Grain to gather customer feedback, and it's been delightful to get those soundbites to share with the team; Grain makes it so simple to piece these highlight reels together. We've been exploring all the ways we can adopt Grain across different departments here at HQ, and although still in the early stages, it seems like it will be really helpful for sharing content across the board.

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

One of the features I really love is the talk-to-text functionality, but the transcription is often muddled. Honestly, this is an understandable hurdle, as I know this technology is far from perfect in general. The clunky transcription does make things a little hard to follow when I'm watching it come in live, however.

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Grain allows for that personal touch: sharing customer feedback to the team at large is something we never really did as a team, because editing a video from a 45-minute Zoom recording is just unrealistic. Gathering little snippets and batching them together for a quick highlight reel has been great. Our team is big on info sharing, and this has been really helpful for that so far!

  ### 11. The best way to record meetings — and to distribute the recordings

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Francis Z. | Manager, Content Marketing, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 23, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

I'm a Content Marketer; I often run interviews as the basis for written content I'm working on. I also request meeting records for the same purpose from my Sales and Customer colleagues. With a Zoom or Drive recording, I end up with more work: transcribing the recording. I need to do it manually or use a flawed third-party tool.

The fact that Grain automatically transcribes recordings is invaluable.

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

I have not yet run into any flaws! Truly. My need for Grain is to have recorded meetings better-processed into written form as the basis for written content creation; it serves that need quite well.

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The problem: Translating video meetings into notes or a full transcription as the basis for content writing.

It takes time to either take notes (which, if I'm in the meeting, also takes focus) or transcribe afterwards. I don't have time to watch every Grain recording. The fact that I can navigate the call via the automatic transcription to instantly find what I want is invaluable. Actually, the value is quite clear: real hours of my time every month.

  ### 12. Excellent software that aligned with our sales and project management needs.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Oliver C. | Key Account Manager - App Sales, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 23, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

While Zoom and Meet allow you to record on your own but is a pain to put meetings on record every time manually. With Grain, I can set rules that allow the meetings to record automatically which has been of immense help as we haven't lost the chance to record any of our meetings since then. Also, Grain allows you to send custom clips which is such ease as we don't have to upload heavy files of full recordings every time.

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

The main downside of using grain is the added cost you might be incurring however, the benefit is enough to justify the cost and allow you to continue to use it.

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Since our business is sales heavy as we are into custom software development, Grain allows us to record all of our sales calls and project management calls thereby making sure that we never forget to record an important meeting and scramble for data afterwards.

  ### 13. Grain allowed gives me a perfect memory of what happened in a meeting without being focused on notes

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 23, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

It integrates automatically into my zoom meetings and there is nothing that I need to do to turn it on once I activate it. This allows it to be a mindless addition and not something that I always have to worry about

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

There are occasionally meetings that I dont necessarily want recorded and would like an easier way to opt out before joining any given meeting. I realize its easy to disable but I wish there was a box to check when joining a zoom meeting that said (disable grain for one meeting)

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In some meetings I find myself more focused on note taking and remembering what other people said than I am on contributing to the conversation. With Grain that isn't something I worry about anymore as I don't have to note everything because I can easily go back and watch what happened if i forget anything.

  ### 14. Exactly what I was looking for in one place

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sylvia H. | MCS Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 01, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

What I like most about GRAIN is that it has SO many functionalities. I can transcribe audio files with great precision and in a very easy-to-use format. It has a easy to use interface with lots of functions.

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

What I dislike about GRAIN is that it sometimes has pop-up informational reminders such as "did you know" and reminders of different functionalities, which is helpful but can sometimes be distracting and block the online workspace.

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Problems that GRAIN is solving is having one place where I can record, transcribe and edit the work resulting from the data and information that I have created all in one place.

  ### 15. With Grain you can capture the most important moments of your meetings for many work tasks.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carlos R. | QA Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 23, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

The records are available in real time, this way we can review the exact topic that we need in any time, make notations and edits to get just what we need and don't lose time with not relevant stuff.

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

I would like to have a little desktop integration to record my screen and take screen pictures, this is for my QA testing needs. Also, I can have a backup of all interviews, for the future.

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am a QA tester, so I have many interviews with many people where I need to catch up some specific topics, with this I can create my evidence of bugs or successfull functionalities.

  ### 16. So helpful. I use it every single day.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Management Consulting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2023

**What do you like best about Grain?**

Ability to highlight clips from calls and share them easily

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

Transcription quality was poor but I think it's improving

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

How do I highlight key moments from calls and share them

  ### 17. Great tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Micaela B. | Senior Learning Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 26, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

A very useful tool for recording and transcribing meetings.

In my case, I work interviewing SMEs, so recording meetings is essential. Grain facilitates the process by allowing you to start recording the meeting automatically, so there is no such thing as forgetting to record the meeting.

Then, by having them stored in the cloud, it's very easy to share the files with the team.

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

There is nothing I didn't like. Everything fine. I didn't use the transcribe function too much to give an opinion on it.

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Grain helped me record important meetings, and by doing it automatically, I avoid forgetting to press the record button.

  ### 18. Very useful for video transcription

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shraval V. | ISA, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 26, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

The video transcription service was the most helpful amount all the feature i saw on Grain so far. The service was very good when it comes to video transcription.

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

The user interface was not that accessible when it came to looking for for other features on the application. It was constantly found wanting for the pause and play button which i was able o figure only after 5-10 secs of searching each time.

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I wanted a service that could do a highly accurate video transcription as I have previously used Zoom's service the transcription quality was not upto the mark compared to Grain

  ### 19. Well-thought out product makes sharing and noting user interviews easy

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 24, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

Grain's video player makes asynchronous collaboration on user interviews and recordings easy. Transcription makes it simple to find the sections of dialog most important to you, and it's nice to be able to leave notes and highlights for your teammates. It was a great way for me to learn about our users as I ramped up at a new company.

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

The sharing and the organization can be clunky. Over time, if there are lots of files, it would get harder to manage different types of recordings. I'd like to see a folder structure for recordings.

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's helping us share recordings that help the team understand our users. The recording quality is good and it's easy to annotate, compared with a Zoom recording where it's difficult to point out specific sections of dialog or recording to teammates asynchronously.

  ### 20. A good start to a ADHD friendly world

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Morghan C. | Independent Contractor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 23, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

As someone with ADHD I struggle to remember things or have difficulty typing notes and paying attention in active meetings, so it's extremely important to find/have something that will create a transcript for me that I can revisit later.

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

With transcription services, just like any I have tried, they are not always the most accurate. It's difficult and not really time efficient to have to go back through and check for errors/fix errors.

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use grain more as a student in college. It helps benefit me for lectures as I struggle to sit during hour long lectures without losing focus at leat one or two times. It has absolutely helped improve my performance in school because I can go back and reference the notes I make from the transcript made by Grain during a ZOOM call.

  ### 21. Great experience using the platform

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Patrick R. | Partnerships & Marketing Catalyst (VISTA), Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 05, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

I appreciated the accuracy of the translation tool allowing me the ability to make quick edits and locate key quotes when going through a recent webinar recording from zoom. Everything worked really well and most importantly required very little time to get acclimated to the system because it was very self-explanatory.

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

I honestly did not have anything that I disliked about my experience because I found it very user friendly and that meant that I didn't have to spend much time figuring anything out which is the part that I usually get frustrated with. Because that didn't happen this time I'm very satisfied

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helped me quickly translate a zoom recording of a webinar that we held and select key moments from that webinar for marketing promotions

  ### 22. Great Alternative to Note Taking

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Allison M. | Customer Success Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 01, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

The ability to create highlights and snippets of our calls has made it easier to remain present in meetings and focus more on the conversation versus note-taking and typing things out.

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

I don't dislike Grain, but I wish that it didn't join Zoom meetings as another participant. It's not that it's a problem, just personal preference. Otherwise, I really like it!

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Grain allows me to focus more on the conversation at hand and be present and pay more attention to the customers I am speaking with. I can easily make a note and record a highlight and after the call add any details I might like.

  ### 23. Most useful zoom recordings

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Paul S. | Brand & Growth Marketing, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 23, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

Grain is the best way to record Zooms in an useful way.

It's great to make sure you can be a present during the meeting rather than focusing on taking notes.

Grain also makes it easy to turn meetups into content for social media!

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

I'd be awesome if there was a way to record breakout rooms easily and downloading highlights / clips could be faster too.

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Grain helps us to make our content creation process more efficient. We can highlight key moments of our meetups on the fly and easily export those clips after.

  ### 24. Easy zoom recordings with transcriptions

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 30, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

The transcriptions on my videos when performing user research interviews is invaluable. It really helps that edits to the transcript are pretty quick and don't require loading screens to make it happen--I can make edits as I listen through. Highlighting is amazing and lets me build reels to focus on themes across several videos.

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

Since I'm fairly new to using Grain, my use case hasn't been too complex to understand where the pitfalls were. What I needed Grain to do was simple enough and fulfilled my needs to be able to provide specific feedback on what I may dislike from it.

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easily upload, transcribe videos, and creating highlight reels of findings for user research interviews. This allows me to have a single service to do it all from!

  ### 25. A perfect tool to organize content and get good transcriptions

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eliu P. | Suporte & Webdesign, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 23, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

Grain is a great tool that can help a lot with transcriptions. Initially, transcription was my reason for using it, but it also offers other features that allow you to organize the content of a meeting in a way that allows you to better understand a given subject.

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

There is nothing I don't like about the tool, I just leave it as a suggestion to add a feature in the future that allows you to enable Grain in an invisible way, I mean in a way that other people in the meeting can't know about it.

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For non-native English speakers like me, Grain adds value in the sense that it makes it easier to understand and allows you to quickly get back to the content using the text that is generated.

  ### 26. Fast, intuitive app for organizing and using video for my small business.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jamie S. | founder, copywriter, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 24, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

Grain makes it fast and easy to upload Zoom recordings and generate a transcript! I've found it very intuitive and simple to learn.

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

I think it's a little bit on the pricier side compared to other apps that I could use to do similar things.

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I need to be able to review video meetings, access a transcript from those meetings, and quickly find the most important info from those transcripts, so I can write great copy for my clients! I'm currently using Grain to help me with case studies for my clients.

  ### 27. Wonderful product for capturing what happened.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David R. | Founder and Senior Advisor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 23, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

I love being able to focus on leading a conversation and also participating. I can capture notes without having to shift my focus away from the meeting. The customer service has been outstanding.

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

I would prefer if Grain had the ability to capture the identity of the speaker. I would also like its launch on my computer to be smoother and/or more intuitive.

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The first problem solved is preventing my loss of focus on the conversation and its participants. The second problem solved is the accountability lost when commitments are not tracked.

  ### 28. Grain is incredible. It’s so simple to use and yet highly effective. I’ve recommended it to many.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kylie M. | Self-employeed, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 23, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

Simplicity, ease of use, results in that the video exactly where I needed it was easy to clip and reference. My favorite is the starting feature to know where to go back to. Really a great addition to our business.

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

The starring/emoji feature was my favorite, but I had to click it a whole bunch of times to make it easy for myself to go back and very easily find it. I essentially use it to indicate where a juicy part of the convo began, and ended. It'd be helpful to have something more catered to that.

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Grain helps us find the best in our business meetings to share with other partners or in marketing. That obviously helps us save precious time and energy.

  ### 29. Best In Category - I have tested all.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Patrick W. | Head Of Business Development, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 23, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

Grain is the cleanest, most user-intuitive product in this category. As remote work becomes the norm, I have found Grain the easiest for other members of my company to pick up.

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

Transcripts are not 100% accurate. Assuming this type of transcription tech will improve in time, however.

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Zoom fatigue. It is a new type of business challenge when you are on calls and meetings all day to take good notes. Grain makes this easy to highlight key points in the meeting to reference later.

  ### 30. Useful tool for Teams - one stop shop for recording and transcribing

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brittany T. | Director of Operations, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 23, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

I like that our team's meetings/events are recorded in one spot for access, review and transcription. We don't have to search for an event or use an outside source for transcription. The platform is very ease and clean to use.

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

We were a part of Grain in the early stages of the platform and have loved it from the beginning. I do wish the free level had more than 10 recordings/transcriptions, but it makes sense.

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have multiple departments hosting different events. It's helpful to have everyone on one platform to access the recordings. For my department, in particular, it is so helpful to have the transcriptions for events, saving me a step in the upload process for our library.

  ### 31. Set and Forget Convenience + Fantastic Resources Library

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mateo C. | BDR, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 23, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

I liked the recordings library—it helped me to see what TO DO and what NOT TO DO. I also really like the highlight feature, which allows me to bring attention to specific points of the recording. This is great for discovery calls with prospects as you can easily highlight their key pain points.

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

Maybe this is just user error, but I feel like there could be more options to organize recordings. I'd like to be able to create folder structures for my recordings.

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1. Capturing key info about prospects
2. Capturing areas for improvement in our sales talk tracks
3. Capturing what works best.

By having this information we can hone in our approach and have much more effective calls/meetings.

  ### 32. Great experience

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** 🎸Andrew J. | Sales Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 23, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

I really liked having the meeting already transcribed in my account. It saved me a lot of time pulling up details I had to go back over after a meeting without needing to watch it again. The UI is easy to manage and overall it's a great system.

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

How you need to allow Grain into the system as another person in the meeting. Would be nice to just have it as part of the recording process like Zooms recording feature.

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I need to go back over calls to pull out details on sales calls to make sure I'm not missing any key points that will help me close more deals and faster. Transcribed recordings are a time saver.

  ### 33. Grain is a amazing website with great user experience and many meeting features to ease the work.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sankalp A. | Growth Designer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 05, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

I liked the simple interface and the features they provide during the meeting. Those are convenient; they are easy to use and understand, the interface is quick to understand, along with that recording feature is easy available

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

I wouldn't say I like how I need to jump to another platform for chatting with the individual participant of the meeting, In a meeting, if I want to speak to a specific participant that is not available on grain.

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

An easy and quick way to conduct meetings and it's helping me by connecting fast to my teammates by directly giving the forum link to them, Its recording feature is also a lot benefiting me.

  ### 34. Never miss a detail!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2023

**What do you like best about Grain?**

Reviewing recordings is the best. Easy to find the details and easy to get a high level understanding of a meeting.

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

No complaints. Works well with my tools and colleagues!

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Verify nuanced details from troubleshooting calls!

  ### 35. Great tool for PM's to share insights and synthesis calls

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jack M. | Head of Growth, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 23, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

The ability to highlight specific parts of call transcripts, share these and clip to a reel is super useful for keeping track of common pain points users face. It's also good for replaying and synthesising notes to save time spent taking notes on calls.

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

The transcription could be improved to be more accurate and if it could work on Hangouts.

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sharing product insights to the wider organisation and saving time spent writing everything down from calls.

  ### 36. Keeping our conversations organized!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ashley O. | Assoc. Director, Client Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 27, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

Having Grain as an option for note taking and keeping track of conversations has been a game changer!

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

I wish that I was able to edit videos and save so that I can have a clean version for a client when needed.

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Many times, we could not rely on memory as a team to have a word-for-word conversation. Being able to go back in Grain and watch previous meetings has helped so much.

  ### 37. Super helpful transcription-- I just wish there were more layout options!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 23, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

Grain made it super easy to upload and transcribe videos for work. I loved that clicking a word brought you to that part of the recording.

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

I didn't love that to edit required hitting the edit button, I wish double-clicking or a keyboard shortcut unlocked that option. It also was frustrating to not be able to create new paragraphs/organize the transcription. Hitting return exited out of the word instead of creating a new line which is functionality that would've been helpful. I also wish I had control over where the highlights and transcription editing windows were in relation to the recording. I wanted the text side by side but wasn't granted control over the layout.

I wish highlights exported as quotes rather than time stamps.

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It was super helpful for the focus group recording i transcribed for my team. It's not often a part of my work and Grain made it a relatively easy task.

  ### 38. The ability to change account settings would make a good product great

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 23, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

Grain is super easy to jump in and use. I absolutely love it and it's changed the way we document user interviews. I appreciate that I am able to upload videos separate from a zoom account. Hopefully you guys keep that available.

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

The MAJOR downside to this product is having to attach a Zoom account to it. Although I am able to upload videos manually on my own, many of my interviewees don't or won't use zoom. So the fact that I can't change my account settings without changing my zoom account is a bummer.

To be fair, I used my junk email account to create a zoom account so that I could get a free trial - now after a less than stellar experience with customer support, I discovered I can't change that email address associated with the account. My experience may be an edge case but changing my email should be easy.

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As I mentioned, it's changed the way we document user interviews- I'm able to send snippet video links to my dev team without having them slog through an entire video that isn't pertinent to what they need to see.

  ### 39. Intuitive video recording tool that has been instrumental in breaking down user research silos

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chris J. | Product Manager l, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 01, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

I stumbled upon Grain and instantly became a power user. This tool has been powerful in my role as a product manager in allowing me to break down communication silos and reduce "playing telephone" by sharing short-yet powerful-video highlights. The transcription technology is accurate and the note-taking tool allows me to be more present in meetings, especially when moderating user interviews. I'm excited for what's to come with Grain!

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

There are some small UX improvements that could be made no doubt, but I've already seen many improvements since day 1 on Grain. Overall I found the UX to be a breeze and fun to use.

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Improving internal communication
Sharing user insights
Summarizing user research
Better and easier note-taking
Searchable video (via transcription)

  ### 40. Grain is so helpful to a remote learning environment

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrew P. | Software Engineer Student, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 27, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

Pros:
- Great video playback options and speed
- Great resource for reviewing any missed material in a remote learning environment
- Platform has great UX/UI

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

Can't say I've found any cons while using grain

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a student I've been using Grain to catch up on any remote learning classes I have missed. My class instructor uses a combination of Zoom and Grain to automatically record and upload classes to Grain.

  ### 41. Must have for Sales Teams

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brandon E. | VP of Business Development, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 29, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

The voice-to-text translation software

And the ability to highlight and discuss sales recordings

Automatically pulls videos from Zoom, so nice

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

This is not very helpful, but it's another thing to remember to do...like our sales team reviews most of our videos, but its another thing to remember

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being able to breakdown our sales presentations, then learn from them and tweek what needs to be done to do better

  ### 42. Great for user research

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 29, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

I have grain add-on install which makes sure I don't forget to record any customer research meetings. The videos all get automatically transcribed, which is great because I can work through the transcription and make notes of insights I can share with my team.

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

I wish Grain supported Google Meet because I sometimes have to switch to Zoom last minute to get Grain to record. Also, the transcriptions are sometimes off and they require manual correction.

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Grain streamlines the user research process, by removing some of the manual work and makes it much easier to share direct customer feedback with the internal team.

**Official Response from Rasheed Ahamed:**

> Thanks for your review!

Great news! Grain now supports Google Meet, along with Zoom and Microsoft Teams. We've also made significant updates to improve the accuracy of the transcripts. We truly appreciate your support and feedback.

  ### 43. Best app to transcribe meetings

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Melina L. | Digital Project Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 23, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

Grain is very useful when you have to record meetings. It allows you to create highlights and then filter them by tags. What I really like about this app is that you can easily share the recordings with others.

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

The font size of the transcript is a bit small. I believe it would be a great idea if you could choose fonts and sizes before downloading the transcript as a PDF or DOCX.

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

English is not my first language, so Grain helps me whenever I have a doubt about what others said during the call. I can also take notes without making any mistakes.

  ### 44. Excellent transcription

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Katrina P. | Occupational Therapist Student, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 23, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

How fast and accurate the audio transcriptions were. It was very was to upload audio via my iPhone and download the PDF transcription. This is much better than any other popular transcription service such as Zoom. Also found it much more user friendly and affordable.

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

The only thing I would change is the timestamps. It sets the timestamp at the date you uploaded the recording rather than the date that the audio was created itself.

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is helping me complete work promptly, and conduct research effectively and it is also helping me transcribe in a much more accurate manner than I could find elsewhere.

  ### 45. Solid tool for user experience research

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 24, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

Grain enables simple Curation of video interviews and the ability to excerpt relevant portions and simply export to platforms like Slack. Their new stories feature is also great for creating similar insights across different user interviews.

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

I can't use them at my existing cyber security company because they do not have SOC2 Type 2 or ISO27001 compliant certifications. They don't have a built-in wiki functionality like dovetail, but I don't mind that because most companies already have an existing wiki solution and there's no reason to bring on a new one.

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Curating insights from user experience research is not a trivial task and sharing information across the organization can be challenging. I like the way that Grain enables me to share the voice of the customer in just a few clicks in a way that is very consumable for my coworkers.

  ### 46. Simply put: Grain saved my project and saved me hours of work.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kevin A. | Writer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 23, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

Grain is easy to use. That's important for a digital analog like myself. That might be a fancy way to say I'm not tech savvy, but there's nothing fancy about grain; it just works, and it works well.

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

If I had to pick something, I wish the transcription was a bit more accurate. it works well and exceeded my expectations, but if there's an opportunity for growth, it's there.

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's saving people time and the hassle of finding a transcriptionist. Or, in my case, saving an entire project from falling behind the deadline because I forgot to set up a meeting platform correctly.

  ### 47. Great features and ease of use for our sales team

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Charlie H. | Business Development Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 26, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

Automated recording starts make it easy for our team to use.

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

Nothing huge to dislike, only minor note would be that I have to hide video each time I use via Zoom. But this really is a small gripe.

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Audit trail on all sales calls, for both internal management and training, as well as a seamless client recording option requiring no input from me.

  ### 48. Grain is the perfect feature/Eas of use balance

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 27, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

Grain is the right mix of important features that solve our core problem without the frustrating complexity of bigger and more expensive platform solutions

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

I do wish there was a way to have the grain desktop app not auto launch when I restart my computer but this isn't a huge deal

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We had been evaluating other solutions such as Gong, Outreach, and Salesloft but left frustrated as those were so over baked and overkill for what we needed. I had Grain up and running in 15 minutes. My calls and notes are well organized and easily accessible by my team.

  ### 49. Use it For all my meetings

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jason Y. | Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 30, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

Having transcribed notes for all my zoom meetings and the ability to capture highlight clips is super useful. Sometimes there are unplanned testimonials I capture that are extremely valuable.

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

It's definitely not cheap. I would like some more customization options with the screen that says I'm recording

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having notes for every meeting, not paying zooms cloud recording fee, getting highlight videos.

  ### 50. Really easy to use, Straight forward to use

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cameron d. | Student, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 27, 2022

**What do you like best about Grain?**

The user interface is straightforward to use. I like how you can share others into your recording. the transcription is quite accurate.

**What do you dislike about Grain?**

There isn't much that I don't like. The desktop app can use some improvement. Make it easier for the Grain bot to join a zoom call.

**What problems is Grain solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I need to have proof of my zoom calls and grain makes it easy
