Extremely flexible, both 'off the shelf' and as a 'headless' tool. Great interoperability with a wide range of 3rd party tools across CRM, PIM, DAM. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Some work required to get the absolute best from the tool for individual client bespoke implementations - although lower subscription costs compared to other tools balance this out. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
- Short turn-around times when delivering projects.
- Built-in Digital Quality tool (DQM) tool allows you to check the quality of content and any accessibility issues and immediately flag any issues before publishing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The platform can run slow at times and training can be limited but as as I know Crownpeak is working actively on that to improve the community platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Crownpeak does a very good job of compartmentalising sections of a website, and letting you control what content goes where, what widgets and code snippets, etc. We work with clients that need to pump out similar sites with variations, and its easy to make a very reactive template that you select which component you want from a dropdown, and the fields appear below to be published. It makes that very useful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
In a lot of ways, Crownpeak feels unfinished. It is a little laggy to work with, especially with huge files. Similarly, a lot of aspects of source control that seem standard and like they should be implemented as a standard(various things that git do) (or even a git integration, come to think of it), don't exist and can cause issues. Crownpeak can also feel too ambitious, such as their own take at a serializer. It serialises json differently than the built in C# Visual Studio serializer which, to me, seems more standard, and it deals with ASCII characters differently. Works seamlessly alongside Lingotek to help our customers automate their translation process Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Nothing as of yet - I'm new to Lingotek so have yet to experience/hear of any dislikes! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It uses c#, which is a language that I enjoy using. The component library is a step above just using plain templates. The Access API is decently designed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Poor performance in many respects--saving files in Visual Studio, saving components in the component library. Visual Studio extension has bugs, including that there's no syntax highlighting for my computer. Component editor doesn't have syntax highlighting or anything along those lines. In my opinion it should be possible to define templates via configuration, or declaratively, rather than imperatively. The documentation is lacking in examples and in some cases is simply wrong. The personalization of the content is a strong feature. The fact that you can create personalized landing pages and do progressive profiling as well as A/B testing stands the tool out. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
the system performance is still an issue. Very slow, and publishing is cumbersome. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Crownpeak is so easy to use, while at the same time allows us to present relevant content to your consumers. We reviewed SiteCore, Adobe, Acquia and Crownpeak is by far one of the best, most cost efficient platforms on the market. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Not much, support is quick to reply when we have issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The back end of the CMS in terms of adding new pages and editing text and images is relatively simple with existing components. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We implemented Crownpeak in the past year. They have a severe resource constraint in their professional services department. Unless you have an in-house developer, and maybe even then, it is very difficult to execute on changes to templates, reporting, personalization, etc. in a timely manner. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's good for content editors writing copy.
It's good for managing large sites and minisites. Our client uses it for a hundred or so sites, with thousands of pages, built by a multitude of vendors. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's really difficult for content editors to upload and find images - a pretty core CMS function.
Template creation is really clunky and requires a pretty experienced Crownpeak developer. A .NET dev can eventually pick it up but the lack of documentation and community resources severely limits on-boarding new devs.
There is no source control for code.
There is no support for minification, bundling, SCSS processing, or other modern dev tools
Only Visual Studio 2015 is supported for their Crownpeak Desktop Connection (CDC)
If you want live code to run on the server, you need to do some pretty hacky things - like writing C# that writes C# that can run live. Yuck.
No databases of any kind. This means that if you have any JavaScript applications you have to write out JSON and publish that. So you'll have a disconnected recordset somewhere - probably in a Spreadsheet - that you'll need to export to JSON and upload to Crownpeak.
Publishing and keeping JavaScript app source, as well as page-level custom HTML/CSS is a hack.
Only allows for outdated .NET webforms (no MVC - though CP might say otherwise)
Publishing is often very slow or gets "stuck" - requiring CP support to unlock the queue Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like their support system, the developers are really smart and quick. They are accurate with their effort estimates and are experienced programmers. Another benefit is their familiarity with AWS and the ability to host and own the AWS part of the configuration. Scalability and security is important to us. They've developed a good relation with AWS and provide also manage the relations/configuration.
Their customer service is great. Not all Account Managers are great but the ones that are pay attention and truly care about solving your pain points and making the product experience better for you. But overall, customer experience is one of their plus points.
Their search solution is pretty robust and customizable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I find the interface to be slow i.e. loading folders/sections, assets, saving etc. We have numerous businesses using CrownPeak and in the past there has been a long publishing queue/publishing slowness. However, they have made changes to remedy this.
They don't have a database solution, however that may have changed.
Form builder a.k.a. WCO is not robust at all.
Group permissions, especially when you have multiple instances.
Their latest version V3 isn't that amazing and there are features that were promised, but are still in development.
Their Digital Asset Management, does the job but isn't amazing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like the CMS platform and the way that content can be easily be managed without coding experience. I also like the DNS management features of the site. Also, the ability to identify orphaned pages and content that may need to be removed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The site templates can make for a very rigid and boring site experience. We have an enterprise solution that was set-up for improved site controls, but the technology partner that set it up hobbled the platform's capabilities. Crownpeak's focus was to sell the license, but did not get us on the path to success. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The whole idea of content management system is thrilling and Crownpeak is the first software that introduced CMS to me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I have used both Crownpeak and Drupal and I feel comparing to Drupal, Crownpeak is less user friendly. Drupal has clear set of display, which is really useful to do the actions on different pages. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Our organization's website has been on the CrownPeak CMS for SIX years! That is an eternity in the online world and alone makes the case that CrownPeak is a great choice for any organization looking for a scalable, future-proof system that doesn't need to be rebuilt from scratch every couple of years. CrownPeak works tirelessly to make improvements that keep the system fast, secure, and reliable. Unlike many other applications, they don't confuse users with interface changes that are only for change's sake. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
As a nonprofit cultural institution on the East Coast, we aren't a typical CrownPeak customer. Consequently, we haven't had the benefit of a community of similar users in our area, or at least our time zone. The community appears to be larger on the West Coast. That said, the prompt, competent, go-the-extra-mile support team always has always gotten us unstuck when necessary and given us peace of mind the rest of the time. Login procedure is simple, password recovery easy to execute. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Interface is dated and clunky. Location of supporting files is awkward, though this may just be our installation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
A great platform supported by a team of talented experts that stay in touch with the current market trends. The team has ben amazing at working with partners , supporting them and listening to their needs.
The platform is evolving constantly and the CP team is really good at keep us up to date on latest features as well as capturing the input for our own needs.

Nothing ! it's a great platform to work on ! If you have core team with .net knowledge the transition is very simple. The Volte interface could been improve but the team is already working on a new version of a GUI to assist the developers team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I am extremely pleased with the level of support provided by Crown Peak for the implementation of the WCM Advanced Edition as we moved our website from a legacy system to the SaaS platform. They took the time to understand our old system and to transfer and improve functionality. The WCM interface is fairly intuitive and easy to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We had no issues on newer computers. However, Microsoft Silverlight caused issues with the login page not displaying on some of our company's older computers. After a reboot, an uninstall and reinstall of Silverlight and the WCM were needed. My understanding is that by the end of 2016, Silverlight will no longer be used.
