**What do you like best about Basis?**

Basis customer service is second to none. Any time we've reached out to Basis Support they've been very responsive and providing guidance to help troubleshoot any issues. Our CSM (hey Kelly!) is wonderful. She's always willing to brainstorm or provide insights and she really understands our clients and our business.

**What do you dislike about Basis?**

At first (especially for an agency working in a DSP for the first time) the platform is overwhelming but becomes much more manageable after time. The in-platform reporting is a bit clunky but Basis recently integrated with our dashboard and reporting platform, which has been immensely helpful.

**What problems is Basis solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Basis has allowed our small full-service agency to begin running programmatic media in-house, expanding the portfolio of media services we can offer to our clients. After years of working with different outside vendors we're now able to have more control over client campaigns and performance (and we're learning more in the process).

**What do you like best about Basis?**

The support from the customer success team is unparalleled. Amazing attitude, super knowledgeable and most importantly, invested in seeing success in my media.

**What do you dislike about Basis?**

I understand Basis is most likely used at the agency level, but it has boundaries or quirks at the client level that makes a few things difficult. As it becomes a bigger trend for clients to buy their own media, there should be an option to have some of the boundaries removed.

**What problems is Basis solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Buying programmatically has saved so much money and has given the ability to take ownership of our own media. We have instant access, data transparency and an expert to help think through difficult organizational issues.

More information could be provided on best practices for Direct Response campaigns.

**Recommendations to others considering Basis:**

Path to self-serve is a great service if you have team members relatively unfamiliar with DSPs as it will ease the burden of training the staff and learning a new interface. I highly recommend the Basis Connect app and Centro Certified courses to learn the basics of the platform.

**What problems is Basis solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We primarily use Basis as a DSP and are able to target great audiences and PMP deals within the platform. It has also allowed us to centralize our display, OTT, and audio buying into a single platform.

**What do you like best about Basis?**

Basis is very user friendly and I've been able to mostly self-teach throughout the platform. The help resources are great, and the response time of our assigned reps is second to none.

We are NOT an agency use case, but offer services to our franchised stores somewhat as an agency would. Basis works with us to offer innovative ideas and strategies for providing the best value to our franchisees.

**What do you dislike about Basis?**

I found more value in trial and error within the platform than I did in my time with the onboarding specialist I was assigned to. Our onboarding specialist seemed to have his own agenda, which would have been fine, but he provided specific instruction on how campaigns are supposed to be set up that didn't make sense to me and created further confusion. Coupled with the fact that my account manager now works with me for the best way to set up and organize campaigns and her feedback and instruction is NOT at all like the onboarding specialist I had.

After 8 months of running campaigns in Basis I'm STILL crossing out notes and instructions given to me during the onboarding process because they aren't conducive to an organized workflow for campaign management and/or my account manager has offered other advice.

I wasted a lot of time learning things that I'm now unlearning. I could have done without the onboarding.

**What problems is Basis solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Basis is a powerful programmatic advertising platform. They help us run an organized programmatic ad strategy inhouse. The largest barrier to digital advertising that our company has is access to advertising technology. We have ALL of the skills inhouse to run a well throughout and supported advertising campaign, so much so that we've had terrible experiences with agencies or other media companies trying to do it for us. Basis allows us to pull all of that inhouse and have confidence in the details of our advertising campaigns.

**What do you like best about Basis?**

Seamless integration, everything I need in one place, easy campaign development, and our wonderful CSM Cody have made using Basis an amazing experience! We've seen better results for our clients and couldn't be happier. Working with Cody especially has been incredibly helpful. His patience and professionalism is unmatched, and he was always ready with suggestions and best practices to get the most out of Basis.

**What do you dislike about Basis?**

Initially the platform was a little daunting to learn, and there was certainly a learning curve. The resources that Basis had available to learn the platform were super helpful and easy to understand for someone brand new to the Marketing & Advertising industry. I highly recommend utilizing the resources the platform provides!

**What problems is Basis solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having access to a wide variety of exchanges and being able to have more in-depth analytics than other platforms has helped us realize what we can deliver to our clients. We've been able to provide better, top-notch results with the help of Basis!

**What do you like best about Basis?**

Our company often works in very niche markets and Basis has such a large pool of data providers in almost every segment you can think of, making it easy for us to reach our target audiences. Not only does Basis serve our programatic ad buying needs, but it also allows us to link our other digital campaigns so we can analyze and report on performance across Basis, Google, Facebook and others all in one place.

**What do you dislike about Basis?**

Basis is not always the most user-friendly. There is a lot build into the platform so it can be overwhelming at times. However, our agency was paired with an amazing Customer Success Manager, Cody Carroll, who is always available to jump on calls about anything we are unsure about and provides us with timely updates on any changes happening on the platform. We're also able to provide feedback about our experience to our rep which then gets reported to the developer team. We've often seen some of our feedback get integrated into the platform.

**What problems is Basis solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Recently, our team had trouble getting politically driven ads up and running globally. We hit approval and eligibility roadblocks on every other advertising platform and almost did not run the campaign, but Basis came through without any issues. We were able to get our ads approved and running in all of our target markets without any issues in less a day. We ran contextual ads and saw great success.

**What do you like best about Basis?**

The support from their team, especially Jeff Poteracki. Centro provides great customer service and opportunities to get questions answered and troubleshoot campaigns, as well as learn the variety of options available to you through the platform. Centro offers a variety of data providers and access to a multitude of options to help you run successful campaigns.

**What do you dislike about Basis?**

It's a unique platform that can seem daunting at first, and for political work that requires extensive budget changes and movement, Centro is a little more clunky to handle. However, it's still extremely possible.

Basis helped us diversify our platform options to provide better services to our clients.

My favorite part of the platform is the ability to optimize performance right in the Analytics tab. I appreciate the straightforward data, and the control we have over our spending. I would never have felt so comfortable on the platform with the help of my amazing CSM, Abby Bauer!

**What do you dislike about Basis?**

Some display performance was below-average the Google display benchmarks.

**What problems is Basis solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our digital team has solved the CTV needs of our clients. Connected TV performance has been amazing as we learn to control our placements and PMP's on BASIS. We're also solving the ability to target users with specific job titles including "physicians". Linkedin ads just weren't cutting it, and we feel confident we've found a strong avenue for job title targeting.

DSP's these days have the same baseline capabilities, but what sets Basis apart from the rest is the customer service. They are staffed with skilled professionals who are always willing to go the extra mile. Couldn't be happier with the decision to onboard Basis as one of our partners.

The team at Centro is great. They helped me get started in a short amount of time and helped me with several of my campaigns. They respond via email and we have calls regularly to ensure that campaigns are performing at their best. They are very helpful.

Nothing. The product is complicated but if you have worked in Google or Facebook the learning curve isn't that bad and easy to navigate.

I needed a way to serve TV and banner ads for my clients and they have a great self-service tool that was able to handle this for me.

**What do you like best about Basis?**

The best part of Basis is the support we receive from our Centro team. Their involvement makes us feel confident that we are running the best possible campaign, even though we are still learning a lot about running campaigns in-house.

**What do you dislike about Basis?**

As someone who logs into the system only once every couple of weeks, I do feel like finding the information I need isn't as intuitive as many other platforms. I tend to be comfortable with new technologies, but I do feel like you really need to know your way around the system. Even just when trying to dig into reviewing campaign details, it's hard to know what path to follow in terms of what is clickable (campaign names, tactics) and what isn't.

**What problems is Basis solving and how is that benefiting you?**

So far the main benefit is that we have expanded our knowledge base in display, video, and audio advertising, allowing us to speak more intelligently about it to our clients.

**What do you like best about Basis?**

Basis has integrated so many different data partners and targeting capabilities that I know I will be able to run any tactic on their platform, especially interesting new solutions.

**What do you dislike about Basis?**

Their automatic budget pacing doesn't work for clients whose budgets are changing day by day. In order to get it to track the budget pace correctly I would need to submit an entire new media plan, which gets cumbersome when it's happening so frequently. Therefore I am constantly getting alerts that my campaigns aren't pacing correctly, when really it's just because the budget has changed since I set it up and it's too fiddly to bother updating it.

**Recommendations to others considering Basis:**

Their training programs and personal support staff make learning the platform one of the easiest experiences I've had compared to any other digital advertising platforms.

**What problems is Basis solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Because Basis combines so many different targeting capabilities/data partners, I know that it's the right platform for all of my clients. They won't all be running the same thing, far from it! But if one client just wants OTT/Digital Radio to compliment their traditional media schedule, and another one wants custom audiences built through several different data partners, they're both still going to run perfectly on Basis.

The ever-evolving updates within the platform. New features are being added every week, and they listen to the consumers on what they want and need from the platform. Being able to see pacing and integrations from the DSP as well as other direct buys is crucial to planning and monitoring campaign success.

Our Basis Support team is amazing to work with! They make us feel like we're their only client (even though we know this isn't the case). They understand our account, our business and help us navigate the platform to success.

The platform can be confusing at times to navigate without the help of our team. Things aren't always in the easiest or most intuitive spots in my opinion.

Basis allows us to tap into channels that we weren't in before while keeping it organized in one space. It also gives us the ability to buy ad inventory from companies we wouldn't likely be able to easily get in contact with without them.

The platform is very easy to use. Tracking and optimization are a breeze and the continued improvements they have been implementing are fantastic.

Managed services can move a little slow for my taste. They are great if you're a "check in once a month" kind of client but if you need day-to-day service, you may want to look for something more agile.

Solid training and understanding of programmatic fundamentals are key. Pay attention to the alerts and make your optimizations.

Low cost, high conversion optimization. It takes a little bit of elbow grease but this platform really puts a lot of firepower at your fingertips. The tools and layers of technology are great and very easy to use.

**What do you like best about Basis?**

I appreciate how simple it would be to divide initiatives by strategy, it provides versatility targeting and it allows me the chance to try different approaches new proposals. I always want to see the list consulted when making potential company strategies or planning a new plan. The latest forecasting function also enables us to offer the campaign flights a precise size.

**What do you dislike about Basis?**

There are no major shortcomings I've noticed from operating inside Context, but there's something more flexible reporting choices in the prospect that might be beneficial. You may export all the info, but can also take a lot of time to migrate it out and see exactly what you're trying to get out of the study. Again, from the edge of the customer it'll just be a moment-saver.

**Recommendations to others considering Basis:**

Basis is a powerful and really stable foundation. We will execute the programs rapidly and on a level. We do this for bigger sales on support of independent newspapers, down to tiny companies. Not all systems provide device controls like the above UI. We have both been quite sensitive to any comments or inquiries.

**What problems is Basis solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Using the self-service model, which offers a very easy-to-use framework for set-up and operation relative to other DSPs, we exploit Foundation for transactional advertising purchasing and do so. We do have the strength of evidence and analysis to help policy for the partner partnership you don't see in merely working with a separate DSP.

I love being able to build, monitor and optimize my own digital campaigns 24/7 to get the best results for my clients.  The Basis platform is VERY user friendly for literally anyone and the personal support, training and resources you get from Centro is unbelievable!

**What do you dislike about Basis?**

There is really nothing I dislike about Basis and it is the best investment I've ever made for my agency business.  However, there are so many tools to use in the Basis platform, so if you don't commit to utilizing all the incredible training, support and resources available you may feel overwhelmed...but with anything new there's always a learning curve.  Centro does everything to shorten that learning curve!

Basis is the best investment I've ever made for my agency by increasing my margins, increasing my existing clients success and helping me develop new business!  I would highly recommend Basis to anyone!

**What problems is Basis solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With being able to build, monitor, tweak and optimize my own campaigns anytime I've seen better results for my clients.  In the past, buying through other digital vendors (i.e. TV stations, radio stations, etc), you wouldn't know there was a problem until after the month ends or the campaign was over and then waiting forever for a so-so performance report.  Pulling reports for my clients whenever they want to see performance right out of Basis is great.  I know the reporting I send my clients is real-time accurate!

With Basis, variant is successfully using multiple two-person pods to efficiently service media, thanks to the plethora of workflow optimization tools. Without Basis, variant estimates it would take at least a six-person team to run various strategic accounts. More data visualization. When pulling specific reports it may be easier to digest if they are presented in graphs, or charts instead of in the raw data form. The dashboard could also be optimized to look better visually.

While we love the great customer service, we wish we didn't need to use it as much. The platform has some great features that you don't find with other DSP's but there are some inconsistencies. The UX is easy to use, yet some things aren't intuitive to find. The campaign/initiative/tactic hierarchy setup is clunky and clearly a remnant of past Basis iterations.

The platform gives users a significant amount of control over ads and optimization, and once you learn how to navigate the interface, it's fairly easy to use. There are great targeting segments, no shortage of exchanges, and relatively simple optimization tools. The number of categories for creative is incredible — from the usual static image/video to GIFs, HTMLs, audio files, and more. The customer service is superb — our representative goes above and beyond to make himself available and helpful.

**What do you dislike about Basis?**

The UX design can definitely be improved. There's a learning curve to understanding the interface and the terms it uses, and I wish the platform offered more guidance on terminology and process natively within the system. There are several places where I wish there was an "undo" button, or a way to "select all" (e.g. targeting, optimization). There are places where it's not entirely intuitive which button to press for certain actions. There's a learning curve with every interface, and thankfully for Basis, the customer service is always just a quick email or phone call away.

More so than many other advertising platforms, Basis helps us achieve very tailored audience targeting, higher completion rates and 10-second video views for video ads, and an interface that can monitor multiple platform budgets from a single page (Facebook, Google, DSP).

I really love the support we've received from our CSM, Hanna Horgan. She's done an amazing job of training, assisting, and providing solutions to all of our problems. For our weekly call, she always has answers/suggestions and some sort of update or quick learning prepared to share with us.

The interface is slightly hard to use. Sometimes I can't find certain sections, or for some reason, I can't edit or do a bulk upload. I'm also still slightly confused on bids and optimizations - I feel like I'm guessing sometimes. I saw that there is a bid helper now, however this function doesn't seem to work all the time. As a team, it is also hard to assign items and standardize process across multiple team members. I dislike that generating reports can sometimes take longer than expected.

DSPs can be difficult to master. I recommend Basis because the support is there and I feel like the team over there listens.

I like how easy it is to break up campaigns by tactic, it offers targeting flexibility and gives me a chance to test out new strategies and ideas. I also like having the catalog to refer to when building out new business pitches or forecasting a new campaign. The new forecasting feature also allows us to give an accurate scale for campaign flights.

Oftentimes the reporting takes quite a bit to queue up, and also in the platform currently (as of 10/28) there's a resizing issue when you open up a tactic. You aren't able to see the details of 3rd party data segments in 'audiences'. Often times the pacing notifications are misleading in the 'campaign' side compared to the 'analytics' side, leading me to refer to one more often than the other.

Consider what features you'd need for your specific company/agency. Do your clients or does your company value everything that Basis offers? Be sure you review all specifications in the platform as well as all reporting features that Basis offers before pulling the trigger. The platform gives us access to so much inventory, and a wide variety of placement types, all in one platform. Basis acts as one of the three main tentpoles in our paid media mix (the other two being Facebook and Google). Account support has been by far the best part of the Basis experience. Our account manager is basically a member of the paid media team, helping us not only navigate the platform, but also about the underlying ad tech and strategies to make the most out of a DSP.

The interface could use updating. Some of the navigation and dashboard is not as intuitive as it could be. The exportable reports are fantastic, but they take some time to download and access.

Really consider the amount of manpower you are willing to dedicate to the management of the platform. The more you put in, the more you get out. This is not a set it and forget it display vendor. This is a tool for teams that are prepared to take granular control of their video, display, audio, and other types of advertising.

Basis has given us a place to consolidate all of the separate display and CTV vendors we have been using. The icing on the cake is the absolutely unparalleled service we receive from every member of their team, starting with our main point of contact, Michael Sammut. Hands down the BEST account manager I've worked with from any vendor, partner, or service in the 10+ years I've been working in digital media.

If I could change one thing it would be the turnaround time on reports. When scheduled in advanced they are at your fingertips when needed, but if there's a quick ask or random question that needs solving it can take a few hours for a report to generate–I understand this is in part due to sourcing data from several inventory partners but...you asked.

Spend time setting up your organization/campaign structure. There are a lot of different approaches to the system hierarchy and it was very helpful for us to implement a structure that allowed us to scale while not introducing unnecessary complexity.

Basis DSP has the best targeting capabilities we have seen from a DSP. Its easy-to-use dashboard allows us to set up complex campaigns in a short period of time. Having weekly support calls with George Leff has been incredibly helpful in terms of learning the platform and understanding additional opportunities for improved campaigns. We love the targeting capabilities from the Basis data partners, and find it to be the best opportunity in digital to fine-tune an audience. 

**What do you dislike about Basis?**

With larger, more complex campaigns, it becomes difficult to edit targeting. There is no way to layer on third-party audience targeting with CTV. There is no way to estimate potential reach for audiences with multiple targeting segments. We wish there would be a better way to filter inventory by category in the same way Contextual and Audience targeting is available - it makes it difficult to create a whitelist based on inventory that is similar in content. It's also a bit difficult to adjust pacing if campaigns see any budget reallocations. It's difficult to manage the campaign pacing tool if anything changes. Custom reports also take quite a bit of time to process. If anything is requested by the client immediately, we cannot provide that info to them for a few hours.

Basis DSP has given us the ability to offer programmatic advertising to our clients in a cost-efficient, data-driven manner. It has given us the ability to easily optimize campaigns, whether it be manual or automatic. A lot of martech platforms are either accessible or comprehensive, rarely both. Basis is the exception that proves the rule. Access to a galaxy of audience data and display inventory combined with exceptional client service makes this a must-add to your marketing toolkit.

One of the drawbacks of the platform is that a lot of the third-party platforms used to power audience creation isn't open to users, but needs to be managed by account managers at Basis. It's not a dealbreaker by any means, but if you like to maintain control over your audiences, it can be a bit off-putting at first. 

**Recommendations to others considering Basis:**

It's not for everyone. Advertiser/client budgets need to be significant (ideally at least $5k/month) to be successful, and a strong understanding of digital advertising, audiences and inventory are necessary to be able to navigate the platform, and of course the platform has its idiosyncracies. If you've used any martech software, Basis will be a breeze to get up to speed on, and it can drive results in myriad ways for your business.

Basis is a great tool to buy programmatic media for multiple campaigns. It's nice to be able to view all live campaigns at once and then go into each one deeper and have control over their optimization and ultimately performance.

As I am still in the early stages of using Basis, there hasn't been a many dislikes. It would be nice to receive email notifications when certain campaigns seem to be underperforming - that way if I am not logged into Basis, I can be made aware that something is off and go in quickly to check on it.

It is really nice to have a DSP we can use in house and not have to rely on anyone else to get started with a campaign. I love the convenience of being able to set up campaigns as needed, upload creative right away, checking on performance/optimization and pulling reports on an as need basis without having to wait for someone else to do it. This has helped speed up the process of reporting on campaigns to clients.

The lack-of reporting integrations and built-in reporting tool is frustrating and slow. It can take hours waiting for a single report to be ready to download, and we require multiple reports to pull the metrics we want. If you're looking for an excellent dashboard with strong optimization options and creative support, Basis is an excellent choice. The customer service has been some of the best I've ever experienced.

We're able to give our clients some great results using Basis, especially when it comes to Machine Optimization options and deep-diving into manual optimizations based on Creative, Domain and even time of day.

**What do you like best about Basis?**

There are several aspects of Basis that make it a solid DSP. First, their support is top notch. We love our CSM and support@centro is super responsive and helpful as well. Second, we can do anything our clients need in Basis. The tool itself is very easy to use. We traffic lots of campaigns and most of them have short flights, so we need to be able to operate at scale and Basis helps us do that

**What do you dislike about Basis?**

The one area where I would like to see Basis improve is the performance. I'm sure campaign setup and advertiser requirements are a big factor here, but I would like to see better CTRs and Video Completion rates out of the gate

**Recommendations to others considering Basis:**

Basis is the platform for users looking to scale their media buys and who value an intuitive platform

**What problems is Basis solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Basis helps us operate at scale. The biggest problem I deal with on a daily basis is that I have several hundred campaigns per month and it's somewhat unpredictable which ones will renew and which will lapse. I need to be able to traffic and assign all these videos quickly and this is one of the things that makes Basis great. Additionally they have great integrations that allow us to utilize third party and first party data for all of our campaigns

**What do you like best about Basis?**

There are a lot of targeting options and the platform is straightforward. Also, I appreciate how the Centro employees are hands-on with their clients. I enjoy that you can archive your old campaigns to keep your account organized and easy to follow.

**What do you dislike about Basis?**

There are not a lot of options within certain types of advertising, for example, OTT but I realize that they are working on that. I have noticed without blacklist or brand protection, there are a lot of inappropriate sites/apps that your ads run on.

Go to Centro conferences/webinars to see if Basis is for you.

**What problems is Basis solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Some problems that I face are when uploading ads and loading up campaigns, it can sometimes be extremely slow. Benefits are all of the domains that you are able to run ads on.
