"Trusted Finance Partner with Pristine Books, But Monthly Closings Could Be Faster"

What do you like best about Pilot?

We absolutely love that Pilot acts like a fully integrated, in-house finance function for our business. They don't just process transactions; they are proactive partners who anticipate our needs and provide guidance without us having to constantly ask for updates. What do you dislike about Pilot?

The one area we find challenging with Pilot is the timing required for the full monthly book closing. Because they need around four weeks to prepare the books for a complete month, we are not able to follow our daily or real-time cash flow as closely as we would like. This means we have had to develop and maintain our own internal financial projections and interim tracking systems to manage daily cash flow, since the official financial statements arrive a little later than is ideal for immediate operational decisions. Recommendations to others considering Pilot:

We would strongly recommend Pilot to companies that are ready to move past basic, reactive bookkeeping and into a more strategic, supported financial system. If your firm needs a partner who is proactively flagging issues and ensuring everything is always in place so you don't have to think about it, Pilot is an excellent choice. While they may not provide real-time cash flow tracking due to the monthly closing process, they are the ideal solution for any business where rock-solid financial accuracy and having an integrated, expert team is the highest priority. The main problem Pilot solves for our business is the constant stress and distraction of managing complex financial records ourselves. Having a dedicated, trustworthy team that is always keeping track of all our books and proactively flagging potential issues means we have a sense of complete financial control without having to do the work. The immense benefit is simple: we no longer have to worry about our financials, which frees up our mental energy and time entirely so we can focus on driving our business forward and achieving our core mission. What do you like best about Pilot?

Pilot’s platform is definitely what I like most. Everything is very well organized and easy to navigate. From the first set of books they manage for you, expenses are updated on a weekly basis, which provides great visibility and control.

Pilot helps me manage accounting and both state and federal tax filings (including Delaware and IRS). Overall, it has been very helpful in keeping my finances organized and up to date.

"Great product & Team to work with along with a great QuickBooks Integration/Backend"

What do you like best about Pilot?

We appreciate the asynchronous workflow that Pilot offers, and we especially value that they do all the backend ("actual book keeping" ) in QuickBooks. What do you dislike about Pilot?

This isn't necessarily an issue unique to Pilot, but because we have several bank accounts for our CDs and Treasury accounts that don't all update in real time to Pilot, our cash balances and weekly cash flow statements often turn out to be quite inaccurate. Recommendations to others considering Pilot:

I recommend starting with them early, and once you begin generating some revenue, take the time to review your accounts and bookkeeping practices with your assigned accountant. It's important to either use QuickBooks' invoicing feature directly or choose a service that syncs all invoice product details with QuickBooks. They have been instrumental in helping us maintain proper bookkeeping during the early stages of our startup, a time when hiring a full-time professional for accurate GAAP reporting is often not feasible. "Present over Perfect; Pilot is making strides to automate what was hard to automate before"

What do you like best about Pilot?

Some features are glitchy, like the revenue waterfall seems to have issues.

Pilot will streamline a lot for you and save you a ton of money, but if you have complex needs or reporting requirements... really discuss that prior to agreeing. It needs to make sense for both parties and as Pilot is new and growing in this field (which is much needed) there's still some things that need a manual touch.
