## Pilot Reviews
  ### 1. Pilot made bookkeeping very easy in the early stages of our business.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Samuel D. | Chief of Staff, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 13, 2024

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

As we become more complex, it was clear that they were not the accounting partner to grow with. Great for early stage though

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

They are no proactive in getting us to GAAP compliance and make lots of assumptions. They are very focused on closing the books and not as focused on rigor of the books.

**Recommendations to others considering Pilot:**

Need a great way to feel confident about closing your books and having investor grade financial? Pilot has been the tool for us and has met all of our needs.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pilot serves as our accountant. They handle all of our transactions and closse our books in Quickbooks, always checking on categorization, clarification, and connects directly to our invoicing, banking, and HR software.

  ### 2. Present over Perfect; Pilot is making strides to automate what was hard to automate before

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 06, 2025

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

The portal is easy to use! The reports are better than Quickbooks (to use and read) although they aren't as many.

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

Some features are glitchy, like the revenue waterfall seems to have issues.
Also there are many things they aren't set up to navigate (such as inventory) but they disclose that upfront.

**Recommendations to others considering Pilot:**

Pilot will streamline a lot for you and save you a ton of money, but if you have complex needs or reporting requirements... really discuss that prior to agreeing. It needs to make sense for both parties and as Pilot is new and growing in this field (which is much needed) there's still some things that need a manual touch. If this is you, be sure to outline everything beforehand.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

So much of accounting can be streamlined. As an operator, I have better things to do with my time. So I'm all about automating things a computer can do. That's one area Pilot really shines in.

  ### 3. Great Once Set Up, But Onboarding could be faster

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 04, 2025

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

uses AI to automate a lot and is therefore a cheaper price

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

Onboarding took about 6 months but they acknowledged they are working on speeding up onboarding.

**Recommendations to others considering Pilot:**

find ways to speed up onboarding

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

automating manual transactions, quicker books and reporting so I can make more timely decisions, at a more affordable price

  ### 4. Pilot Onboarding

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Public Policy | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2024

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

Ease of platform, friendly and helpful team, and smooth onboarding process of clients.

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

Nothing noteworthy so far. I have been impressed by the start of the services.

**Recommendations to others considering Pilot:**

If you are an international business located outside the US, then Pilot is a good solution for bookeeping needs.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Bookkeeping, compliance, and tax for an international business.

  ### 5. Solid Product with some challenges

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 01, 2025

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

The product works well overall and the accountants are friendly and helpful

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

There are some UI bugs in onboarding in the product and the onboarding experience can take a while.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pilot helps us automate our bookkeeping

  ### 6. Positive experience, prompt and thoughtful communication

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** James M. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 23, 2024

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

Pilot has been very communicative about our books, and has always worked quickly to correct any issues which have arisen.

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

The cost is substantial for a small firm.

**Recommendations to others considering Pilot:**

If you have the ability to handle your own books internally at a reasonable cost, it makes sense to do so. If you're big enough to need a clear set of books for tax and compliance purposes, but small enough not to have an in-house bookkeeper, Pilot makes a lot of sense.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We previously made an amateurish attempt to keep our own books. Pilot does a much better job.

  ### 7. Professional bookkeeping for growing businesses

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Arts and Crafts | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 26, 2023

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

Clear bookkeeping that is easy to download and review. Responsive when I have questions and never make me feel dumb or inexperienced when I need help. Reliable service.

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

Pilot is expensive. For the size and scale of our business, it is one of our larger expenses each month. While I feel it's worthwhile to have clean books, it's painful to pay so much.

**Recommendations to others considering Pilot:**

Best for businesses that are growing, want clean books, and can afford the fees.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have a complex business that involves membership payments that need to be accrued over many months. Pilot is able to accurately keep my books and I don't have to worry that things might be done incorrectly by someone who is less experienced managing the books of an online business or a membership-based business.

  ### 8. Helpful and efficient service provider powered by an online portal/application.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 26, 2023

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

They are very quick to respond to messages or questions. Also, their service providers leverage the online platform that I can access via portal, to find key information quickly.

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

Because they service a number of other businesses, we have to sometimes bear the (non-financial) costs of this. For example, if we don't want to pay an extra fee, we need to be ok with books getting delivered at the end of the following month.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pilot is both our business bookkeeper as well as our income tax preparer. They help us save significant time and stress as a business by handling these aspects of our business operations.

  ### 9. Saves us a lot of time and money once the tricky onboarding process is complete

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 31, 2023

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

Once in steady state, Pilot handles most of our transaction categorization without needing much input from us. These bookkeeping efforts save us a lot of time. The CEO also makes himself available to us, which is an excellent touch of customer service.

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

The onboarding experience was quite frustrating. It involved many hand-offs and multiple iterations before the first set of books was in good shape. Once we received our final bookkeeper, it was smoother sailing.

**Recommendations to others considering Pilot:**

Pilot's output seems to rely heavily on the individual bookkeeper working on your account. If you're having a good amount of trouble, it may be worth requesting a new bookkeeper within Pilot.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pilot is augmenting our Finance team by handling our bookkeeping. It saves us time and allows us to put off making additional hires to take care of bookkeeping and to create financial statement reports.

  ### 10. Good service for SMBs and startups

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Franco C. | Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 16, 2020

**Describe the project or task Pilot helped with:**

We subscribed to Pilot in the Fall of 2019 to manage our bookkeeping. We are a bootstrapped startup and our bookkeeping is fairly straightforward. We needed help with balancing the books every month.

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

The integration with other software that we regularly use (Zenefits, Quickbooks, Veem, Invoiced.com). The books are always on time and they flag expenses or entries that are not clear.

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

We used their service for 8 months. It works well for startups and SMBs with straightforward business models. The only issues to highlight is too much back and forth via email (perhaps Slack or another chat service could help?).

**Recommendations to others considering Pilot:**

It's a good service for startups and SMBs. It takes only a few days to sync all the accounts and statements.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have been using them for bookkeeping. The service that they provide is quite straightforward (they track revenue and expenses and balance the books). It is a no frills service but it's executed with accuracy and punctuality.
