I won’t lie, time tracking tools kind of suck at first they feel invasive or clunky. But Monitask surprised me. It works while I’m knee-deep in keyword research or tweaking on-page tags to ensure the screens are just blurred enough out of respect but still visible as showing progress. The weekly reports are mine. I rely on them, and they save me tons of time when prepping client updates. And integrating it with Asana means I'm not tracking time twice I can just flow. The mobile app isn’t great. Additionally, when I'm transitioning from conducting a site audit to jumping on the phone with a client, it takes me longer than necessary to switch tasks. I’ve also longed to be able to compare reports by type of SEO activity such as time spent on technical fixes versus on content optimization so I can offer even clearer insights to my clients. I'm a Content Strategist juggling competing clients and frantic deadlines. I use Monitask to monitor time spent with my team simply. The privacy-respecting screenshot feature is a nice compromise it still focuses on accountability, but doesn’t make the team feel too monitored. The daily and weekly summary reports are perfect; I love them! They’re a huge time-saver for me when I have to get these project updates out the door for our clients, and they remind me of where we are spending our creative energies. I find task switching on a mobile to be noticeably slower than I would like, and an annoyance when traveling throughout the day writing or coaching, or with clients. I also wish that the reporting could have had a few more baked-in templates for creative and marketing workflows stuff like time spent per content type, client, or stage of a campaign. I mean, in hotels, the payroll is your biggest cost after the food. My problem was always: How do I know whether that cost is working for me? With Monitask, I know. The kitchen and banquet service teams I manage log tasks on the tablets we have stationed throughout – “Wedding Prep: Bella Vista Room,” “AM Kitchen Line Setup,” “Inventory Count: Beverage.” The geofence also means no more buddy punching the clock-in is automatic when they hit the hotel property. Best of all, however, are the timed screenshots. I don’t watch them live, but I could use them to find out what’s going on in a big event setup. It showed me one time that a setup crew was waiting 45 minutes for a shipment of linen which was the vendor’s fault, not my staff slacking. That kind of proof is gold. The reporting for tips and gratuity tracking is not there. And my servers, they are tip waged. I need to pull this Monitask hours and manually add it with Prilly's tip from our POS. If it was able to import that or have a way of allocating which tip pools get assigned based on the logged hours between zones (bar vs floor) then it would save me half a day every two weeks. Although the desktop is steady, the mobile application can be annoying for team members on-the-go. And I could do with additional flexibility in reporting for example, the ability to produce customised executive dashboards that summarise ‘must know’ operational metrics. I don’t find the mobile experience as smoothly convenient as I’d like. If team members have to go back and forth with changing their tasks on the fly, it is often slow and difficult, sometimes even resulting in mislogged time. I also wish there were more pre-fabricated report templates that are good for client-facing reviews something that would make quick and dirty pulling of data for QBRs even faster. The fuzzy screenshots are a nice fit they confirm that work is being done without invading the personal privacy of your employees. The mobile app is clunky, particularly for engineers who have to move quickly between tasks while away from their desks. I would also like to see the reporting have some more custom filters often I want to drill down into particular kinds of activities or at least a variable date range, and the options there are currently pretty simplistic. I use it with my team leads to record time against core efforts, such as ‘rPlace Live Event Sponsorship Strategy’ or ‘Q1 Brand Safety Roadmap.’ At agencies, we need it for any fixed-scope project. The automated screenshots and activity logs can be seen in the client dashboard we provide that helps to make the weekly check-ins subjective review. I can tell whether an agency's creative team is entering Figma or sinking in Slack threads. The data set is excellent, but it takes much manual work to create a story arc for execs. When I am discussing a campaign’s return on investment with our CMO, I splice Monitask effort data with platform analytics and a brand lift study in a deck. There is no automated slide deck feature or story builder that will retrieve the key time investment metrics alongside performance results.
