I use the option to send individual messages more than anything, especially when I notice a student who is supposed to be working with me playing games and video chatting with their friends. I sometimes wish I could see the look on their face when their game gets paused and the link to my virtual class automatically opens **What do you dislike about Dyknow Classroom?** Of course, students being students, have found some ways to circumvent Dyknow. Ultimately though, I've decided if they are that dedicated to ignoring me, I'll just leave them to it. Some students have said they feel as if their teachers are just spying on them and being the Chromebook police. **What problems is Dyknow Classroom solving and how is that benefiting you?** Using Dyknow to direct (and redirect) students has oddly increased their motivation. When students know that I have the ability to see what tabs they actively have open during class, they tend to stick with the class content better. While again some complain that they are being policed, the same students have also said that it has really helped them keep up in class. ### 2. Our school district paid for ours, but I know work at a small private school. **What problems is Dyknow Classroom solving and how is that benefiting you?** Formerly, it helped me keep my students focused on the lessons. I could also message them as I saw mistakes on their assignments. ### 3. It is quite inconvenient when a previous teacher forgets to stop tracking a group of students when I need to begin. A solution to this is allowing multiple teachers to monitor actively simultaneously. **Recommendations to others considering Dyknow Classroom:** The empowerment that this software provides teachers to take back classroom instructional time is definitely worth the cost. **What problems is Dyknow Classroom solving and how is that benefiting you?** With Dyknow. I have been able to curb off-task student technology use by seeing exactly what students are doing or accessing on their screens. I often looked at internet history and saw that students had been playing a game during the entire class, which is very frustrating. This software empowers teachers to take back instructional time to the benefit of students. ### 4. It can be set up to always be on so the teacher does not have to remember to launch the software at the beginning of a class. It allows the teacher to limit specific websites from being launched. It can direct message students so a teacher can send a link in a chat message to all students or select students to access that site with a click. **What do you dislike about Dyknow Classroom?** I really don't have anything negative to share. We have used this product for years and our teachers really like it. **Recommendations to others considering Dyknow Classroom:** Compare DyKnow to other classroom management solutions, and you will find that they offer essential features without trying to sell you over-the-top features classroom teachers don't need. **What problems is Dyknow Classroom solving and how is that benefiting you?** It allows us to filter out the web and only allow access to specific sites to have students take tests and quizzes in a secure environment where they can't open a tab and Google the answer to a question. It also allows our teachers to monitor class activity online and see the students who may be off task. ### 5. It helps stop and fix mistakes before the students submit their work. It also allows me not to stand over the students checking their work during Covid. **What do you dislike about Dyknow Classroom?** I don't like that its not a live version like apple classroom. I hate that it takes time to update. During class this isn't as much a problem but during assessments or when I am trying to make sure students don't cheat then the refresh rate takes forever. **What problems is Dyknow Classroom solving and how is that benefiting you?** Its been very helpful during covid when I need to maintain distance from my students but I still need to see what they are doing. It also helps with the shy students that never ask for help. I can peek at their work and call them to me if needed. ### 6. I can't open two classes at once, without having to permanently combine the class. It takes a long time to open the student's screens. I can't block a page just for that student. IF a student logs out of their Chromebook they are no longer logged in and they have to click on log back into Dyknow. I can't schedule the classes to start and stop when needed. It doesn't save messages between teacher and student. That's all I can think about at the moment. Students are learning how to go around Dyknow by opening other programs. **Recommendations to others considering Dyknow Classroom:** For schools it is a waste of time, currently. **What problems is Dyknow Classroom solving and how is that benefiting you?** Several of the above have been sent to Dyknow reps. No benefits. ### 7. Especially since most of my kiddos are virtual, if they are struggling with something, I can walk them through step by step and see what they are clicking or typing when helping them navigate their computer. I also like that I can block websites that students should not be using during class time. **What do you dislike about Dyknow Classroom?** That there are times, when Dyknow locks up and I have to reload the site. **What problems is Dyknow Classroom solving and how is that benefiting you?** The benefits are that I can type personal messages to my students when they are off task. ### 8. I love that I can seew what they are doing and send them individual message to keep them on task. **What do you dislike about Dyknow Classroom?** Some of my students are asynchronous, and due to the way our classes are setup, I cannot monitor them simultanously with my in person students. **Recommendations to others considering Dyknow Classroom:** Consider teachers who work in pods being able to access each others rosters etc on days they must work with those students. **What problems is Dyknow Classroom solving and how is that benefiting you?** Recognizing and identifying students and family members who are accessing websites they shouldnt. I can screenshot and send directly to parents or administration as proof. ### 9. And because the students know that they are being monitored, they are less likely to abuse their time on their computers. ### 10. When I am out of the building I can log into see what they are working on with the Substitute and redirect students if needed. **What do you dislike about Dyknow Classroom?** I wish that there were a way to set a list of blocked websites that would always remained blocked. I currently have to begin my session and then click the list of sites that I want to block. Also I wish that session would last longer than 2 hours. **What problems is Dyknow Classroom solving and how is that benefiting you?** I am solving student off task behavior.
