"Complex and inflexible"

What do you like best?

The charts look nice. It also good that they provide training and hands-on support - you will need it to navigate the complexity.

What do you dislike?

The search functionality and filtering is time-consuming and complex to set up. I was working with a customer service representative to attempt to refine the results - we wanted to exclude press release pick up and syndications to ensure publications we cared about weren't being missed. It took weeks of back and forth before we both just gave up. I haven't heard from the rep in months and the dashboard is sitting unused. The time investment required to set up makes it impractical for general team members (who are closest to the coverage) to use. Needs to be more agile and intuitive if team members are going to be able to use it.

Look at TrendKite and Meltwater before spending money on Zignal Labs

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Accurate, high-quality media coverage reports. The only benefit we realize currently is tracking low-value press release syndications on Sys-con.

"Partner"

What do you like best?

Service is impeccable and responsiveness is key when dealing with client demands and crisis situations. The tool itself combines media and social tracking and also continues to evolve and improve, including adding broadcast, etc.

What do you dislike?

The truth is that no tool is perfect in this space so bringing all the tracking together in a way that is easy to report back to clients is the ultimate goal and Zignal is able to pull in all the data needed to report.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

From a client service standpoint, we are solving measurement and ROI to the extent that PR and coverage metrics help us make a larger case for the value of PR, content and marketing. It is not the whole story in demonstrating impact to client business, but certainly important. We also use real-time email alerts to help fast-moving clients stay up on breaking topics and be able to respond quickly, especially in a crisis. That is critical to our business.

"Comparably... one of the best media tracking tools"

What do you like best?

1. You can pull media clips from premium websites that have paywalls

2. It gives you social shares, social traction and sentiment

3. Great customization

4. The filters and boolean search capabilities are great

What do you dislike?

1. With all media clips software tools, you need to check the newsroom to confirm that the clips are relevant

2. There are technical glitches when you port over the clips to your saved files

If you use Zignal, make sure you get trained by someone at Zignal and ask them to help you set up your boolean searches.

We use Zignal to track daily clips for a client's business as well as industry topics. Zignal is a great software tool to use as long as you have the time to monitor and sort through clips every day for over an hour. If you have the time, you will get great information that you can disseminate and it will be thorough.

"Solid platform that is continuing to advance in real time"

What do you like best?

Zignal makes it easy to grab tweets, news stories and more when monitoring news and overall conversation around a business or topic.

What do you dislike?

One major downside in my view is that you need to already have specific search terms set up to be pulling in content to be able to analyze coverage after the fact, which causes issues in crisis events or when announcements/news comes up that you might not have been expecting. With that said, the team always is quick to help us backfill the system with whatever search terms we need.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

The newsroom feature and dashboards are very helpful tools for finding coverage and identifying different trends in media coverage.

We use the platform to monitor for coverage, alert our executives when issues are arising on social media and find top stories written about our clients. We've also used it to find additional coverage that does not show up in other monitoring platforms.

"Best in market analytics tool, with some growing pains"

What do you like best?

Zignal Labs landed on top when we conducted an audit of media monitoring tools, and we've been largely happy with the tool's ability to pull in comprehensive content (a gap we found with other tools). They have a robust set of widgets that can automate a lot of the standard asks around metrics. Our team at ZL has also done a great job partnering with us to make the tool fit our needs.

What do you dislike?

The data can sometime be hard to work with in the tool, if you're trying to layer on a lot of different filters. It has all the capabilities to get you what you need, but the road to get there can be long and require hand-holding from the team. The pricing structure has also fluctuated YoY.

Zignal Labs has a great customer success team- build a strong relationship with them and leverage it!

"Not robust enough for what it promises"

What do you like best?

I like the sentiment monitoring & real time mentions, which are great for live events & crisis management.

What do you dislike?

The tool is not intuitive & truly not robust enough for true social listening or analytics. To create dashboards & listening streams, I have to contact my representative & create a ticket, rather than create it myself. That is time-consuming & inhibits the ability to be quickly reactive.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Really look at the tools you have & see if you can work social listening and analytics in the tools you have. You're likely to get the same level of insights in a social media publishing tool.

It is nice for large live event coverage - monitoring media mentions, real time social volume, PR news. But it has not solved the more in-depth social listening need or influencer monitoring needs that I have.

"Zignal Review"

What do you like best?

The ability to view live data and react instantly to any piece of social that comes through. Zignal does a great job with the extensibility of being able to filter, sift and condense my searches and viewing content.

What do you dislike?

At times the platform feels fairly disjointed, it can feel like there are multiple ways to do the same thing or something similar. As a result I've found myself developing a few pieces of content I use primarily and haven't explored past that. At times I feel that the sentiment could be more fine tuned, I very often find myself going in and manually overwriting a lot of negative / neutral sentiment.

We're currently using Zignal as our primary tool for sentiment reporting as well as live monitoring of social channels as we have key beats and events hit.

"Fantastic platform"

What do you like best?

Zignal has dozens of widgets to help us understand and display data in various categories.

What do you dislike?

There are very few things that I dislike about Zignal. It's a very user-friendly platform and is constantly updating to improve the user experience as well as the available features.

I would highly recommend Zignal to others interested in understanding and managing brand reputation via social/news media and monitoring/engaging with influencers.

"Easy to use and very helpful tool!"

What do you like best?

The ability to view multiple sources in the newsroom, which gives us an extra tool at finding coverage through news, blogs, LexisNexis, etc., that we otherwise may not find through google and other tools. Also like the keyword function in the newsroom, because in my experience, it's pulled in exactly what I needed with very little overflow of tweets that I didn't need.

What do you dislike?

I think the side panel could be easier to navigate in the sense that at first glance (and upon first use with little instruction), it's easy to get confused on where to begin and where to find the coverage and tweets. For instance, clicking Newsroom expands the section, but the default newsroom doesn't appear to the (unknowledgeable) user as something to click. In other words, that aspect is not very intuitive.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Great for monitoring coverage and social surrounding announcements, etc, that you are prepared for/know are coming.

Finding extra coverage that we have otherwise not been able to find before through Vocus, Google searches, etc. As well as the easy-to-export Twitter reports that have helped us pull in--and find specific--tweets.

"We use Zignal to do issue monitoring for our client. "

What do you like best?

I like that we can monitor an issue for our client using complex Boolean searches. We have a fantastic rep that has helped us make sure our search terms work well and to troubleshoot issues. They have great customer service.

What do you dislike?

Their crawlers still can’t get behind some paywall sites, which can be frustrating. Occasionally there’s been buggy technical issues but it usually performs well.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Complex media and social monitoring around an issue - not just searching for a client name. It also allows us to take a fire hose of information on a topic and place filters on it to get just what insights we’re looking for.

"Easy to use and great insights"

What do you like best?

I like the ability to personalize reports and data in order to help illustrate the story I'm trying to tell to a client. I also take advantage of the alerts on a daily basis. It's incredibly easy to use and all of the visuals really help.

What do you dislike?

I wish I could update billing info within the tool. I'm also not able to create new profile myself.

We monitor client brands, but more importantly - their landscape. I'm able to easily update profiles and filters to capture what we need and manipulate the data in order to tell a story.

What do you like best?

It is an effective tool in monitoring online conversations and gathering valuable information about the reputation of the company, the opinions of the client, the position of the company in the market and the actions of competitors. It has a user friendly interface for any user

What do you like best?

The ability to set up individual dashboards so that we can track events separately, for example.

What do you like best?

It is a powerful digital monitoring tool with a quick interface that allows you to identify comments, conversations, opinions, preferences and data of specific clients that enter the web portal, in order to measure the performance of the service to be evaluated.

The creation of dashboards is complicated since there are many steps to be taken with the administrator

"Able to unearth media coverage not found in search engines and drill down into issues"

Easy to use, no boolean and fast results

Our clients get quite a bit of media coverage. We were having trouble keeping track of it all, and demonstrating value as their PR agency. Zignal Labs does a great job of listing all our client's coverage (a lot of which the search engines will miss), word clouds, and hashtag clouds, so that we can show value.

"The coverage of your dreams"

What do you like best?

The extensive coverage in traditional really blew me away.

What do you dislike?

The UI is terrible - with an increasingly mobile segment it's hard to imagine why mobile doesn't exist yet.

What do you like best?

Zignal supplies our company with powerful PR analytics in an easy-to-understand format. The platform is easy to use and formats are clean and beautiful!

"Better than many things that do this, but not by much"

What do you like best?

It's somewhat easier than Twitter Lists to get an overview of influencers that matter for a specific campaign and what they're saying.

What do you dislike?

The sentiment analysis is a joke and seems years away from being a trustworthy tool. You'll have to turn it off and ignore it completely. Without it, the tool's just a Twitter List +

"Excellent product "

What do you like best?

The ability to quickly search large amounts of open source data, coupled with the ability to visually depict the trends and key take aways.

What do you dislike?

It is hard to craft search terms for topics that are either large or amorphous. The Zignal Lab team is very responsive though in helping us determine which terms to use.

We are able to quickly search and flag important open source news and events with Zignal, which allows our analysts to spend more time working on products (and less time searching for information).

"Social listening with real value"

What do you like best?

Look and feel - User Experience - Easy setup - Drag and drop modules - Detailed reports - Possibility to drilldown deep in to the sources.

You can't transform a report in a dashboard

What do you like best?

I have to say i like the alerts the best and then followed by easy navigation between different sections/profiles/campaigns.

Would like if it provided better canned reporting formats.
