Once you are used to how it is set up, it makes it a simple solution with very accurate results. **What problems is Zignal Labs solving and how is that benefiting you?** Zignal Lab features many settings to get your business in touch with the public and your target audience. The data is seen in different categories on the dashboard of Zignal Lab which makes it simple to see how the break downs occur. ### 2. We've tried dozens of tool suites, but none have compared to Zignal. Within a few minutes of setting up an account I had access to Zignal's suite of media analysis tools, which allow me to manipulate data and view coverage trends in dozens of different ways. Most important to me, though, is Zignal's alerting system, which notifies me immediately when we're mentioned in nearly every type of media -- print, broadcast, Twitter, Reddit, LexisNexis, etc. This seems simple, but anyone who works in PR can tell you how few tool suites can actually provide comprehensive and immediate mention alerts. Critically, the system allows me to precisely filter out the noise so I only see meaningful alerts. I personally just have not seen anything that can compare. **What do you dislike about Zignal Labs?** This is quibling, but the only thing I'd add is an option to blacklist individual websites within the user interface, which would help me filter out the last remaining pieces of meaningless coverage (market research reporters, press releases, low-value news sites). That website blacklisting is possible by sending an email to Zignal, but placing that function within the user interface might streamline things just a little. **What problems is Zignal Labs solving and how is that benefiting you?** With Zignal, I never miss a mention of our company. It's immediate and around the clock. No other tool suite has given me that level of alerting capability. ### 3. I love how simple it is to get the metrics I want, and that each dashboard is templated as a report which makes everything easy to scan. The Zignal team is also a pleasure to work with, and really puts in the time and effort to ensure you're getting the most out of what the platform has to offer. **What do you dislike about Zignal Labs?** Dashboard management can be a challenge, in terms of ingesting the stories you care about vs irrelevant mentions. Sometimes I wish I could cherry pick the articles I want to track into a dashboard, intead of ingesting all articles and setting up combinations of filters in order to filter out mentions I don't want to track. **What problems is Zignal Labs solving and how is that benefiting you?** My team is also a huge fan of the Media Quality Score, which gives us another way to measure the impact and success of our campaigns that other media monitoring platforms didn't have. The many features and intuitive interface, allows us to surface and highlight interesting metrics that we didn't otherwise before when we report on our campaigns. ### 4. Similarly, once you have created a report design that you like you can easily reuse it for other topics of conversation, reducing the hours needed to rebuild a new report. Customization of widgets and applying filters is also a huge benefit. Newsroom and the alerts features are very helpful and make my job easier. Zignal reps and account managers are very engaged and responsive and go out of their way to help you at any time of the day with any request that you have. They feel like true team members and part of my organization, as opposed to another vendor. **What do you dislike about Zignal Labs?** My only wish is that they enable boolean logic when creating smart filters and issues. Keywords alone aren't always easy to utilize and get granular with the topic of conversation you are interested in. When creating a filter, it would be great if you could select whether you want the additions to be applied as ANDS or ORs . Currently, they always apply as ANDs which is not always ideal. **What problems is Zignal Labs solving and how is that benefiting you?** Always on monitoring for social or traditional coverage is a very tedious task that requires a lot of time. Zignal facilitates this through their alerts features which have a lot of customizations. Their pre-created widgets and ability to filter within individual widgets on an overarching report allow you to quickly understand what the conversation is about and take action. ### 5. It has an incredible customer support team, ensuring that users feel helped at every step. The ability to spin up custom dashboards and alerting systems has helped our teams continue to stay informed of current conversations and news cycles, and has powered teams to deliver consistent reporting. **What do you dislike about Zignal Labs?** The innability to create filters using free-form boolean, as well as the lack of a wildcard boolean operator, are the biggest things currently hindering Zignal's performance. Zignal can do a lot, but requires creative combinations of existing features to "re-create" the advance features that are standard in other listening platforms. I hope they address these product concerns in future roadmaps. **Recommendations to others considering Zignal Labs:** Zignal is an excellent tool for media and social listening if you don't require a ton of advanced bells and whistles. Their support team is incredible and always willing to meet you more than halfway. Zignal continues to expand on its feature offerings, and I'm hopeful that they'll introduce some more advanced features soon enough. **What problems is Zignal Labs solving and how is that benefiting you?** Zignal has helped operationalize media reporting for PR teams. It's a very user-friendly platform and is constantly updating to improve the user experience as well as the available features. **Recommendations to others considering Zignal Labs:** I would highly recommend Zignal to others interested in understanding and managing brand reputation via social/news media and monitoring/engaging with influencers. **What problems is Zignal Labs solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are able to closely track and monitor news and social conversation related to our company and industry. This helps us discover important individuals that we would not otherwise notice or understand, as well as discover/monitor conversations that could potentially lead to a crisis scenario. It also good that they provide training and hands-on support - you will need it to navigate the complexity. **What do you dislike about Zignal Labs?** The search functionality and filtering is time-consuming and complex to set up. I was working with a customer service representative to attempt to refine the results - we wanted to exclude press release pick up and syndications to ensure publications we cared about weren't being missed. It took weeks of back and forth before we both just gave up. I haven't heard from the rep in months and the dashboard is sitting unused. The time investment required to set up makes it impractical for general team members (who are closest to the coverage) to use. The tool itself combines media and social tracking and also continues to evolve and improve, including adding broadcast, etc. **What do you dislike about Zignal Labs?** The truth is that no tool is perfect in this space so bringing all the tracking together in a way that is easy to report back to clients is the ultimate goal and Zignal is able to pull in all the data needed to report. **What problems is Zignal Labs solving and how is that benefiting you?** From a client service standpoint, we are solving measurement and ROI to the extent that PR and coverage metrics help us make a larger case for the value of PR, content and marketing. It is not the whole story in demonstrating impact to client business, but certainly important. We also use real-time email alerts to help fast-moving clients stay up on breaking topics and be able to respond quickly, especially in a crisis. That is critical to our business. ### 20. That is time-consuming & inhibits the ability to be quickly reactive. **Recommendations to others considering Zignal Labs:** Really look at the tools you have & see if you can work social listening and analytics in the tools you have. You're likely to get the same level of insights in a social media publishing tool. **What problems is Zignal Labs solving and how is that benefiting you?** It is nice for large live event coverage - monitoring media mentions, real time social volume, PR news. The Zignal Enterprise platform does allow complete and robust user administration of all aspects of data and dashboards in real time--without relying on a Zignal rep--but individual access can be limited based on customer/admin defined permission levels. It sounds as though this may be the case in your situation, this might also mean you are not seeing the full suite of segmentation and analysis capabilities. With that said, the team always is quick to help us backfill the system with whatever search terms we need. **Recommendations to others considering Zignal Labs:** The newsroom feature and dashboards are very helpful tools for finding coverage and identifying different trends in media coverage. **What problems is Zignal Labs solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use the platform to monitor for coverage, alert our executives when issues are arising on social media and find top stories written about our clients. They have a robust set of widgets that can automate a lot of the standard asks around metrics. Our team at ZL has also done a great job partnering with us to make the tool fit our needs. **What do you dislike about Zignal Labs?** The data can sometime be hard to work with in the tool, if you're trying to layer on a lot of different filters. It has all the capabilities to get you what you need, but the road to get there can be long and require hand-holding from the team. Zignal does a great job with the extensibility of being able to filter, sift and condense my searches and viewing content. **What do you dislike about Zignal Labs?** At times the platform feels fairly disjointed, it can feel like there are multiple ways to do the same thing or something similar. As a result I've found myself developing a few pieces of content I use primarily and haven't explored past that. We have a fantastic rep that has helped us make sure our search terms work well and to troubleshoot issues. They have great customer service. **What do you dislike about Zignal Labs?** Their crawlers still can’t get behind some paywall sites, which can be frustrating. Occasionally there’s been buggy technical issues but it usually performs well. **What problems is Zignal Labs solving and how is that benefiting you?** Complex media and social monitoring around an issue - not just searching for a client name. It also allows us to take a fire hose of information on a topic and place filters on it to get just what insights we’re looking for. ### 26. Also like the keyword function in the newsroom, because in my experience, it's pulled in exactly what I needed with very little overflow of tweets that I didn't need. **What do you dislike about Zignal Labs?** I think the side panel could be easier to navigate in the sense that at first glance (and upon first use with little instruction), it's easy to get confused on where to begin and where to find the coverage and tweets. For instance, clicking Newsroom expands the section, but the default newsroom doesn't appear to the (unknowledgeable) user as something to click. In other words, that aspect is not very intuitive. **Recommendations to others considering Zignal Labs:** Great for monitoring coverage and social surrounding announcements, etc, that you are prepared for/know are coming. **What problems is Zignal Labs solving and how is that benefiting you?** Finding extra coverage that we have otherwise not been able to find before through Vocus, Google searches, etc. As well as the easy-to-export Twitter reports that have helped us pull in--and find specific--tweets. ### 27.
