"All the tools you need to develop your next iOS app."

What do you like best about Xcode?

As anybody that develops apps for iOS, Xcode is your main suite for software development for the platform. It is relatively easy to navigate compared to some other IDEs I have worked with. Being able to get around the IDE is vital to being productive and efficient.

Being designed by the platform manufacture, the IDE is better tuned to its environment than something like a C language which could be developed on one platform with the intent of operating in environments of varying specification. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Xcode?

Nested StackViews took some getting used to but once I got used to its intricacies for layout control, it turned out to be pretty handy.

Sometimes the experience and knowledge of Apply products is assumed by the creators of the IDE. Often times I have had to research a core functional specification of the hardware platform in order to create some blocks of code.

Probably the thing I like best is also the thing hat I dislike the most - interface builder. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Interface builder has become extremely slow and crash-prone. Swift compilation is sadly very slow as well. This is the slowest IDE out of all major options such as Eclipse, IntelliJ, Netbeans.. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

At this point Xcode 8 is pretty well designed, and has fixed a lot of the issues that earlier versions were plagued with. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

There are still a lot of bugs that are fixed for no real reason like clearing derived data and/or uninstalling and reinstalling Xcode. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Xcode:

I would definitely encourage it. Especially because you don't have another option if you want to develop for Apple, so you don't really have a choice... Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Xcode solving and how is that benefiting you?
