Review Summary

Generated using AI from real user reviews
Users consistently praise Xcode for its seamless integration with the Apple ecosystem, which simplifies the development process for iOS and macOS applications. The all-in-one environment, featuring tools like the simulator and debugging capabilities, enhances productivity and streamlines workflows. However, many note that it can be resource-intensive, leading to slow performance on larger projects.

"Best with M1"
What do you like best about Xcode?

On M1 macs, Xcode is the best code development environment for developing for apple products. With the latest M1 macs, even the once sluggish interface builder is now snappy and code compiles for archives in record time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Xcode?

Xcode is still prone to crashing at times and occasionally causes me to lose work or at least lose my place. The split views are useful to some extent but the contextual split view leaves something to be desired. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I love how Xcode highlights error messages and keeps your code all nice and organizeD with its integrated environment and real time downloads you can do as you change your design. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Xcode?

I dislike how more complicated it is to use than other apps developing interfaces, but that just means it has more to offer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Absolute necessity for designing iOS apps"
What do you like best about Xcode?

The code snippet templates are extremely useful for new coders and a time-saver for experienced ones. Easy access to all of the system default images is extremely helpful. There are a lot of and in-app guides and information snippets which help a lot when trying to debug code errors Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Xcode?

There is a bit of a learning curve, but that's a side-effect of any powerful software. It might be helpful to be able to set a delay for code error warnings while editing code. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Xcode useful for C++ engineering software development"
What do you like best about Xcode?

The most helpful feature is the ability to debug C++ code line-by-line with indexing. Xcode can turn a complicated C++ project into something more easily navigated. This is especially helpful for engineers who are used to working in MATLAB or similar. The Xcode interface is also well organized with some optional informational windows available. Using Xcode also helped with learning the existing code more quickly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Xcode?

Compiling C++ engineering projects in Xcode is slightly different than compiling on the terminal, so both workflows need to be managed for developers not using macOS, since Xcode is only available on macOS. Developers working on other operating systems are not able to update the Xcode IDE project, so sometimes the project can fall behind when new files are added or removed. It can then be tedious for the Xcode user to find the new files that someone else added. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Does everything I need... and more!"
What do you like best about Xcode?

I love how easy and convenient xcode is to what I need it to be. In classic Apple fashion, the UI is developed well and it does everything it is advertised to do. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Xcode?

I do not have the best and newest mac hardware, but it certainly is not the worst. So when it comes to xcode, any update basically means I will not be able to use it for the next few hours. And in general xcode can be really slow, depending on the project. Otherwise, no complaints. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
