"Payroll is completely covered with Vista"

What do you like best?

Vista is extremely intuitive. The navigation can be done with almost no technical knowledge about the platform. It’s as simple as reading the instructions it provides. It is not necessary to memorize screen names, labels or numbers to find information. It provides security, efficiency and flexibility to a wide variety of types of users. Also, Visa has the best support team I have worked with. They are always right there when something is not right, especially if you are running payroll (they take the payroll system very seriously and will try to solve it as soon as possible).

What do you dislike?

The time entry features are not robust enough for our business, so we had to try a different application to handle this. Also, I think it doesn’t provide enough flexibility for applicants when applying for multiple jobs. The process tends to be long and confusing.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

I think Vista is well suited for most of the HR departments. A good recommendation would be to get enough training up front before implementation, so you can start getting the best out of the software right away.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Vista is used across the whole organization, but mainly in the HR department. It provides a great number of details to our users for payroll and benefits, allowing us to search, select and use this data and integrate it with other data coming from other systems, in order to report and tie in employment and demographic information. After it was deployed, our admins had spent less time updating manually data. Our work in general has become more efficient.

"Vista: our time and attendance system"

What do you like best?

Vista comes with open architecture, something that provides great flexibility and opportunities for integration. This allows us to implement our technical development skills to create new modules we may need, as well as extend the base system code to handle our special circumstances and processes. Also, Vista allows for integration with other systems seamlessly, what makes Vista our system of record supporting several other 3rd party applications. A great thing about Vista is that it provides the ability to easily create and adjust access among security groups, this also aids greatly in troubleshooting and identifying issues because you can get down to the source code. When it comes to support, Vista is deeply interested in customer feedback, constantly listening to customers complains and suggestions, and actually implementing many of the changes in base system

What do you dislike?

Implementation of this product was made way after I started to work in my current company, so I am not sure of the training that our administrators received at that time. However, I personally haven’t find good training manuals. My knowledge has come through trial and error and calling Vista’s support. In general, I think Vista doesn’t represent such a great timekeeping solution. It’s not bad, but I don’t consider it's spectacular either.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Before acquiring Vista, make sure you really understand the undertaking of setting up this system. You will need all hands on deck, to include HR, Payroll, Accounting and IT departments along with the executives to make the financial decisions for implementation. Once it's done, you will get a nice HR and Payroll product, with enough features to give a decent performance.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

In the HR department, Vista definitely represents our time and attendance system. It is used as our HR and Payroll system of record. We store all employees in Vista and our benefits, time keeping, leave accruals and payroll are run through Vista too. The main advantage of it is that we keep all of our information in one platform, without needing to toggle between different platforms to check employee records or payroll.

"VISTA is suitable for all the HR actions across the company"

What do you like best?

Vista is extremely configurable! We have always customized the application to meet our needs, so I think it’s completely adaptable to the specific needs of any business. It allows any number of custom fields to be used in custom procedures, wizards and reports. The Payroll is so excellent! Before VISTA, we had to fill a paper with our work hours and then submit it to the payroll department. Now, with the VISTA Payroll Module we can enter our time into the system that will automatically get to the supervisor, so he can approve and submit the payroll. It has saved our company some valuable time on manual tracks for the employee's paper time report. Also, The customer staff is excellent! They always provide an effective response, taking the right amount of time to solve any issue you may have.

What do you dislike?

A usual error we have encountered was that the system allows employees to enter more accrual time then they have available. The problem is extended when it gets generated on reports. To avoid this, we still have to constantly follow up each individual, checking for inconsistencies.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Vista HRMS is a very good solution for keeping all HR and Payroll under the same system. However, consider it’s a complex software, so the users will have to take some time to train with it. Also, I would recommend you to check with your IT team if it’s better to have the system in house or as a hosted client

We use VISTA for all the HR actions across the company, such as benefits, recruitment, employee management and payroll. It’s a great software because I know for sure it has all the tools I need for managing every HR aspect, and it’s great it can all be done with a single tool.

"Great solution for payroll functions"

What do you like best?

The payroll process is simple and it makes reporting easier, as it generates a report after every step is completed, allowing user to verify information. This steps can be run as many times as you want, so you can make small changes until all data fits into your business standards. The custom reporting database is very easy and can be integrated into the final user interface. This has dramatically dropped the number of customized reports we handle in our company.

What do you dislike?

When it comes to navigate in different areas of the system, as well as when you’re looking for reviewing new applicants, it takes several clicks before you get where you want to be. Something I would highlight is that Vista HRMS has so many tools and features that it will be hard to master all the software. It will take some time to learn, but it will definitely worth it.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

I would recommend Vista HRMS for companies with SaaS implementations, because with the open architecture and the consulting PDS, the solution can be customized until it perfectly suits your needs

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Vista HRMS is the tool we use for integration to our Payroll functions. This was one of the first software used within the company, that’s why although we have purchased other software, this is always an important one. The customizable interfaces of Vista HRMS makes very easy to control our data, allowing our supervisors and managers to have access to relevant information, especially when we are in recruitment phase.

"Vista Review"

What do you like best?

Vista HRMS is a complete and comprehensive HR system, from the hiring process, through benefits, payroll, taxes, time management, etc. The Vendor is always on top of the latest tax laws (at least in the US) as well as always moving forward in the use of new technology while maintaining for those who haven’t quite caught up in technology.

What do you dislike?

The old COBOL reports that currently exist in the system.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Be prepared by laying out all rules, policies, procedures, responsibilities where everyone (your team) can review and understand. The system will do anything you need and want it to do but if you really don't have the specifics laid out and agreed on by your team, it can easily spiral downhill.

The system is open enough to allow the general super user to customize to fit their needs or for higher level customizations to meet even the most out-of-reach needs.

"I utilize pds for payroll purposes"

What do you like best?

I like the graphics and the ability to see every aspect of your paycheck through a different tab which is easily located. I also like that you can view projected hours of personal time off.

What do you dislike?

I hate that you have to enter your hours and then go to a different location to approve those hours.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Too many different things to do to complete payroll. Lots of things to click on. These should be all in one spot.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Solving over usage of time off. The benefit is to the organization in that people aren't putting in for more hours than they actually earned.

"HR admin user"

What do you like best?

The employer set up is easy to navigate and employee self service is nice if we were allowed to implement. ACA setup and reporting and guidance is exceptional as well as workflows

What do you dislike?

History and date fields can cause issues with rehires and benefits

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Include HR in the implementation and setup process of the system and database as they were not here and to add certain features after the fact is difficult. Use as little customization as possible . And we are moving to Vista 7 in the next 3-6 months

Wearhousing 5 companies employee data and benefits, running ACA measurement and reporting and for our affiliates the ability to run reports on their people for various reasons and reporting.

"Still in implementation process, but support from our Implementation Specialist has been great"

What do you like best?

The Implementation Specialist that we have been working worth is very supporting and quick to respond. His knowledge of the system is incredible and if he doesn't have an answer he is quick to source it.

What do you dislike?

There are parts of the system that I feel should be base system that are basic CRA requirements in Canada but we continue to have to do custom work and put in special requests.

We are still in the implementation process.

"Epitome of HR management"

What do you like best?

Vista is an end-to-end HR management system. The latest US tax language is always implemented so I don't have to worry about compliance.

What do you dislike?

Initial user training could be improved. The learning curve took longer than expected and could have been shortened with more comprehensive training.
