**What do you like best about Upshift?**

I like best that Upshift focuses on real-world, hands-on learning rather than just theory. It empowers young people to identify actual problems in their communities and then supports them in creating practical, innovative solutions. I appreciate how it builds confidence, leadership and teamwork through experience, not lectures. The program gives every participant a voice and a chance to take ownership, which makes the learning meaningful and transformative.

**What do you dislike about Upshift?**

One thing I dislike about Upshift is that sometimes the process can feel a bit fast-paced and intense, especially for participants who are new to problem-solving frameworks or need more time to think and develop ideas. It can also be challenging when there are limited resources or support available after the program ends, which makes it harder to continue long-term projects. A little more structured follow-up or mentorship would make the experience even stronger.

**What problems is Upshift solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Upshift is solving the problem of limited real-world skill development and lack of opportunities for young people, especially those from underserved communities. Traditional education often doesn’t teach practical skills like problem-solving, creativity, teamwork and entrepreneurship, which leaves youth unprepared for modern work and unable to take initiative in their own communities. Upshift bridges this gap by providing hands-on learning where participants identify real problems, design solutions, and build confidence through action. This benefits me by helping me develop leadership, communication and innovation skills, empowering me to think independently, work collaboratively, and create meaningful impact in my environment.

**What do you like best about Upshift?**

Upshift is a pleasure to work with. Their customer service is very responsive and my account manager is fantastic, Azra is always on top of my needs and works to make sure we are always covered. I love that when I create a shift that I can select the rate of pay for the position and not have to do the math to amke sure I am listing the position at the correct rate (minus fees) .

**What do you dislike about Upshift?**

it is a bit tough operationaly speaking because we have multiple units associated with our account. They're all managed by different managers and the invoices only go to one person even though each account is assigned to a different manager.

**Recommendations to others considering Upshift:**

Havea great conversation with your account manager so you can both learn how to create a situation for success with your specific business. als, Verify with your upshifters that they are punching in and out.

**What problems is Upshift solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Upshift is helping us to fill a labor shortage as we look to fill those spots on a more permanent basis.

**What do you like best about Upshift?**

The convenience of being able to reach out and get shifts filled ina  short time frame. It's usually best to post those shifts at least a week in advance, but we've also had last minute day of/day before shifts get posted and filled. It's very convenient and quick.

**What do you dislike about Upshift?**

All in all the service is extremely helpful. The only downside is the ability for upshifters to cancel their shifts the day of mere moments before their shift start time. Sometimes this leaves us with expecting the help and not receiving it, but then again that's something controlled by personnel and not service.

**Recommendations to others considering Upshift:**

Great, easy solution to temporary staffing needs. If you're looking for long term staffing I'll always recommend hiring on your own, but for temporary staffing they're perfect.

**What problems is Upshift solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Azra Hajdar from Upshift has been extremely helpful and instrumental to our Success in filling our staffing needs during the holiday season. She's persistent, kind, and above all else gets the job done. Thanks to Azra and Upshift we were fully staffed during our busiest times. During this time of year we struggle to get staff and upshift helps negate the damage done by helping our last minute calls for help. Excellent service and care, thank you!

**What do you like best about Upshift?**

The best thing for me is not only the pool of reliable part-time and at times full-time help.  I love that Zach our Sr. Account Manager is always so helpful.  Even when I know I may have bothered him more than I should, he never hesitates to listen and will help in any way he can.

**What do you dislike about Upshift?**

The things I dislike about Upshift - It has more to do with the website.  Now, I may just be missing something, but it seems that I have to post a job then I invite the temps that I want.  To me, it would make more sense to invite the temps or your upshifters before posting.  For example, I had a job to post, which I did, and then I invited my upshifters and it ended up with 4 or 5 hires for a 2 position shift.  The system does not stop taking the temps since I had both temps at the moment of posting taking the shift in addition to the temps I invited.

**Recommendations to others considering Upshift:**

I have found that trying to keep your upshifters regularly helps in so many ways.  Not only do they understand the job they also know of other Upshifters who may be a great fit for our team.  I will respect and trust their opinion as they are the ones who will have to work with each other, so I can't imagine they would suggest someone unreliable or a little lazy as they would have to pick up the slack.  Respect your team and they will respect you.

**What problems is Upshift solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am the Director of Catering for Cisco Systems in Atlanta.  We hold several events almost daily covering 5 floors.  Upshift has top-notch talent.  The temps I have hired over the past year have been a joy working with.  Friendly, talented, efficient, and observant, are all things that I look for in the future employee.  Thank you Upshift!

**What do you like best about Upshift?**

Upshift is responsive to questions, corrections and needs at all hours. I appreciated some of the seminars/presentations they have done regarding retention of people, for example (based on their own research and surveys of Upshifters).

**What do you dislike about Upshift?**

We have had some trouble with new Upshifters. It can be a coin flip to bring in someone who has no previous shifts worked. They tend to cancel on us far more often than veterans do. This can be a Catch-22, because new workers don't become reliable veterans if no one gives them a chance.

**Recommendations to others considering Upshift:**

Upshift is great both for short-term/single-shift help and for temp-to-hire. Be as detailed as you can be (and accurate, of course) in your description of the work, the location/how to get into the building, the dress code, etc. Driving directions and a facility map can be helpful as well. If you post your upcoming shifts on a consistent schedule (I tend to post on Thursday nights for the following week) you will have more success getting repeat Upshifters who you like.

**What problems is Upshift solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We see a consistently high-quality pool of associates, including people with relevant experience. Some already have full-time work and are simply supplementing their income on occasion. Others have worked their way into full-time positions with us. On occassion, we have seen a quick hit of 2-3 associate call-offs among our full-time crew and I have been able to post a shift to Upshift and fill it within a couple of hours - sometimes even faster.

The ability to copy previous orders and star favorite employees so they can return.  It really cuts down on the training time and helps with efficiency.  Ordering in the app or on the website takes 1 minute!

It took a little bit of time to build up a good amount on prefereed employees

Rate the employees after each shift and attempt to work with the same ones agian

The app making ordering temp labor so easy,and getting the same great employees is such a help.  The ability to favorite employees we like helps us build a bench of employees that we enjoy having here and do a great job

The ability to put together a team of people that do a good job for you is very helpful. The ability to block underperforming people from coming back is also helpful.

Some shifts are tough to fill with demands in the area (specifically weekends).

Make sure to "favorite" the staff you want to come back, and tell them when you typically post shifts so they can look for the notifications and sign up.

We (like most other private clubs) have staffing issues that don't allow us to give our Members the best experience. Upshift is helping fill our banquest server and food runner needs.

The ease of requesting additional help, not only has it been easy but with the help of or Upshift support person Art Villegas things are fast and he doesn't mind last minute requests for help.

not being able to switch times last minute. My company has many last minte things pop up and to switch peoples times costs money, even for the same people for only an hour or two difference.

As with anything call offs can be an issue because you are using this to fill in open shifts and when they call off it's hard to find someone to replace that.

Rate your upshifters as it helps if they do a good job as well as let's the company know how their performance on the job is.

Upshift is helping to fill in positions that we cannot fill last minute or to help suppliment our staff during busy seasons in a pinch.

The platform is very easy to use. Shifts are always filled. Shifts are rarely canceled or no show.

The talet of the bartenders is sometimes lacking. We never really know until they arrive.

The fact we are not notified when someone cancels even though they get pentlized we can't pivot quick enough.

What I like best about Upshift is their user friendly platfrom along with their administrative support. 
Together they make booking temp staff a breeze.

There is not much that I dislike about Upshift. I do wish for a few little things like a calendar view. I believe that would make a difference. I appreciate that they check in and listen to what I think would make the platform more user friendly.

I say give it a try, it's the best on the market.

I like that I'm able to see in real-time who is picking up/confirming shifts and can invite individuals who have worked with us to return for other shifts.

One thing that I dislike about Upshift is that once an individual has been invited, they cannot be invited to the same shift again, even if it's a week or more later/their availability has changed.

Give Upshift a try! The account managers are super accessible and helpful, and their messaging/help portal is highly responsive! We have been able to achieve great staffing results using Upshift!

Unfortunately, some servers and bartenders are very inexperienced and need alit of guidance on basic tasks.

**What do you like best about Upshift?**

Flexibility and expediency. We were able to post shifts for all times during our day and have them filled. Once we established a solid roster, posts could be directed at specific Upshifters who were the best fit. We were also able to get shifts filled when we had last minute needs.

**What do you dislike about Upshift?**

Being a online service, there were Upshifters who struggled with the program which caused confusion for both our team and the Upshifters.

**Recommendations to others considering Upshift:**

Upshift has been the most effective and user-friendly contract labor service that we have used. The app allows our managers to easily staff and track the Upshifters applying and being accepted to our units. The labor was quality has been great with several Upshifters transitioning into full-time positions with our organization.

**What problems is Upshift solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being at a rural college account, staffing has always been a challenge but especially since 2021. Our dining program continued to grow but our labor pool did not. Upshift was able to provide qualified individuals to fill our labor openings while being flexible to an operating schedule dictacted by an academic calendar.

Easy inferface when posting online, communication and workers.

**What do you dislike about Upshift?**

Not realy Upshift issue, but there are some workers that have never done a position that requires a little more training or experience.

**Recommendations to others considering Upshift:**

Shift pick ups are 95% filled when posted in a timely manner.  Ensure you get with the account rep or someone when you want a specific trait or skill applied to a position, like cooks, so they can add badges to the post.  This will help ensure someone is qualified for that position and worked "X" amount of hours so they are reliable.  Establish your business needs upfront and what you are looking for.  Online interface is extremely user friendly.

Communication for any food industry manager has always been the top priority.  With Upshift, the communication is always there and easy to access online, or with a phone call.

Amazing user support. I have a team I can reach out to 24/7 with questions and issues and they reaspond quickly. I can jump on a call with them at any time if the issue is more complex.

**What do you dislike about Upshift?**

You are always taking a chance with temp employees but you can weed out the bad ones by looking at profiles and pervious shifts.

**Recommendations to others considering Upshift:**

Use the team you have avalible to you. Ask questions. They will taylor the app to what you need and more!

**What problems is Upshift solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have had staffing problems coming out of the pandemic, but with that we have also had low attendance at some events and huge attendance at others. Upshift gives me the ability to flex our head count numbers up and down depening on need.

Being short staff can create customer service issues. Utilizing Upshift, even on short notices, has helped up fill in gaps and create less problems for our residents and other staff.

I love the platform and ease of use! Our Upshifter has been amazing and it is great to be able to work directly with him to sort out his schedule and then just update it online.

So far, nothing! I have not had any hiccups other than not being able to change future shifts while someone is clocked in.

I really don't have any advice other than make sure the expectations of the roles are clear for the people signing up.

We had a spot open up that is hard to hire for, so we brought in an Upshifter to try it out. They like it so well, we will likely hire them at some point!

They jump on anything we need right away. They try their best to get our shifts filled. Also better quality helpers than other temp companies we have used in the past.

I guess that someone can pick a shift up days in advance and then at the very last minute before that shift is to start they cancel.

If you are looking for better quality candidates and a company that holds their employees to strict company standards then this is the temp labor company for you.

Art Villegas' can do, jump in, i'll make it happen mentality, Several times i questioned if we could make things happen and Art would always be positive and say let me handle that for you, or would state that he knows what its like and always tried to be the perfect compliment to what we need at the right time. He has a knack for delivering every time!

Not a single thing comes to mind! they always nail it!

Staffing Holes and broad geographical catering events created several issues for the region and our contracted account, daily callouts almost crippled our ability to perform basic contractual obligations.

Upshift is easy to use and have great customer support.

A lot of the Upshifters are all the same people from the other Temp agencies.  However, if you have a good relationship with them, they will know your needs better.  Especially if you communicate well with them.

**Recommendations to others considering Upshift:**

I recommend getting to know your Upshift rep well.  Form a good relationship with them.  Do not let any of the issues slide, make sure you let your Rep know so they can act on the issue.

Upshift is different from the other Temp Agencies because the reps are very personable and easy to form a good relationship with.  They act fast when there are any no shows or issues with any of the Upshifters.  They are quick to form a great Temporary team for your business.  They are also caring and undertand the food industry.

The platform is very user friendly, and the client support team is always available to assist.  It is very helpful to be able to choose which staff are working our events, instead of other sites that just assign random staff.

It would be helpful to be able to adjust shift times in less then 24 hours, and to extend a shift time while it is in progress in order to allow staff to punch accurately if the event runs late

Our business model is event based; this can pose a challenge sometimes regarding hiring staff internally. I like that the team members who show up from UpShift are always ready to work and take on any of the random tasks that putting on events can entail! It's such a better option!

The platform took a little while to get used to, but my UpShift rep has been great about answering my questions about how to do things within the online platform and the app.

UpShift is a great tool! The more hours/reviews a person has- I've found them to be better workers over all. The folks who have logged hundreds of hours have done so for a reason. These are your folks who will continue to help and pick up slack even after their immediate task has been completed.

UpShift has been essential in providing extra team members to our small catering operation. Having only 3 full time employees, we rely heavily on our extended team to accommodate our scheduled events. The UpShift employees we have gotten, from dishwasher to server to bartender to prep, have been very big assets to us! I highly recommend UpShift!
