"He is my useful and complete assistant."

What do you like best?

It is an excellent software that allows me to control each and every one of my activities in a detailed way and it is something that I love. It also allows me to save a lot of time thanks to its multiple functions and with this it can provide me with many useful reports for my team, in order that they can easily understand the work that will be done in the week, and also be able to evaluate the work once be done and the goals that were achieved with it.

TouchPlan has allowed me to be able to request each supplier a complete report on how to integrate the tasks they perform with our project calendar. It also allows me to prepare this information in advance and share it with the managers when we have a board meeting.

It is great how the process of preparing the reports has simplified me and eliminated the need for us to transcribe the information in the acrylic boards of the conference room, taking it to a digital format.

This software has become indispensable to my company since it is quite easy and simple to use since you start to manipulate it the first time.

What do you dislike?

For some people it has been difficult for them to be able to handle this application perfectly since they do not know much about the technology, however the technical support team has been able to solve and resolve the mistakes made.

It is a bit tedious to be able to remove some types of reports, this because there are people who should not know certain points in the projects because this can give a wrong perspective when making a decision.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Undoubtedly with TouchPlan you will be able to save a lot of your time and money since it allows you to consolidate each of the projects that you are carrying out in a relatively short time on an ideal platform in which everyone can work and access.

With Touchplan you will not only be able to see the execution time of your projects, but it is also ideal to see the projections of all your staff, and see how many qualified people you have to complete a new project.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It has simplified us a lot the need to use paper and ink for printers, we almost do not use acrylic boards anymore, nor do we use the adhesive, saving not only money without a lot of space.

Being able to digitize each and every one of the processes has been a giant advance for our company as it allows us to show our subcontractors what should be done quickly and easily, allowing them to interact with us in real time. We can also interact and share opinions regarding programming and improvements in a project in order to perfect each work done.

"Great Pull Planning Software"

What do you like best?

TouchPlan has made it so that we can ask our subcontractors/vendors for input on building their tasks into our overall project schedule. They prep this information ahead of time and we can all sit down together to build our schedule. It's a very lean process and has eliminated the need for us to transcribe information from conference room walls into a digital format - the record schedule is being created in real time.

The software is fairly intuitive and easy to get the hang of once you're playing around with it for a while.

What do you dislike?

Small learning curve with older folks in the industry who are not super tech-savvy. They can usually be guided with some hands-on or over-the-phone assistance, though.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We've been able to digitize our scheduling process with our subcontractors while also giving them an opportunity to engage and interact and build the schedule with us in real time. We're able to track our PPC and reasons for schedule changes quickly and can summarize the findings at the end of a project at a glance so we know where we have room to improve.

"Very Helpful Planning Tool"

What do you like best?

The ease of creating tasks and milestones is great,

What do you dislike?

Our Touchplan rep mentioned that they will work on getting a practice plan that is more geared to the design end of a project and not just the construction end of it so that we can gain a better understanding of how things should be laid out during Design Development and up to CD release

Touchplan is a great tool for the integrated design approach. If you're a company that has design/build under one roof it really helps in creating schedules that stretch 6-12 months out.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

By taking this online, we are relieving the need to take up an entire whiteboard of space for months at a time with physical sticky notes. Great space saver!

"Stay in touch with your Projects"

What do you like best?

The way you can control every activity (at each detailed level) is pretty good. Is save us lots of time. You can have lots of useful reports for your crew, to make them understand the weekly work easily, and you can also evaluate the work once it's done.

What do you dislike?

Maybe the way of connecting dependent activities can be improve. No more.

This is an excellent app for construction companies.

Once you've tried it, there's no going back. You can save time, prepares good reports to show your crew the coming work, and after that, you can easily evaluate it.

We carrying the Last Planner Method for our construction projects. We used to do that in excel, but now with TP, we're saving lots of time.

"McCarthy Building Companies TouchPlan Review"

What do you like best?

The ease of the program. Really good for short term schedules! Helps us coordinate work in tight areas to ensure crews aren't working on top of each other.

What do you dislike?

Some of the reports.. Would be nice to hide the manpower projection so that when we print schedules for the Owner it doesn't show the manpower.

Also, if one crew has multiple activities on one day it doubles up on manpower.

TouchPlan helped save our project time and money by consolidating our short term scheduling needs to one platform that everyone can access and work from.

"Great software! "

What do you like best?

Easy to use! The layout of the site makes it pretty simple to figure out even for new users. I’m using this for the first time on this project but will likely adopt this for our internal projects as well. It’s also nice to be able to generate a Gantt chart or manpower loading report from this software.

I also like that the task assignments can be moved or copied to different parts of the building to identify work happening concurrently on different levels ar areas.

What do you dislike?

I’m still waiting for costing for use of this by my company but I would assume that the premium for the service is pretty high. Also the interface is a little sluggish when using it with an iPad and trying to move tasks around in the project.

"Great for visualizing a project timeline"

What do you like best?

It is very easy to create and easy for others to view and track progress. I like the gantt chart functionality that automatically creates a timeline that can be sent to upper management.

What do you dislike?

I wish is was easier to build out longer timelines. The use case seems to be more tailored toward shorter sprints of work that are about 30-45 days. I am using it to plan out an entire year and a half and while it works, it's not the most conducive use case for all of the functionality.

W have improved communication gaps between departments and management. We have also been able to improve coordination between subcontractors.

"BETTER THAN STICKIES"

What do you like best?

I LIKE THE EASE OF USE AND THE RATE AT WHICH TAGS AND COMPONENTS CAN BE UPDATED AND ADDED. IT PROVIDES US AN INTUITE LOOK AT SCHEDULE FOR UPCOMING, CURRENT AND PAST ITEMS

"A great beginning toward digitization of the last planner process"

What do you like best?

Ease of use ability to test out simply by logging in and populating post it notes for trade activity.

color coding and floor selection is pretty good, we do mostly horizontal buildings so by phase /area is good too, we do this through naming convention.

What do you dislike?

I wish I could bring in post it notes form other digital tools such as Hoylu FLow and Bluescape. Several of our clients use this and we want to make it more interoperable with pdf flows form other application. Wish there was a less costly option for smaller projects as $500 per month is still pretty high for small jobs.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Keep in mind it is all new and is somewhat ahead of others in the space, such as Oracle and V Planner.

Oracle Prime as it matures is another tool to compare this with, but that is not purely focused on last planner as touchplan is.

"Project Engineer"

What do you like best?

The ability to collaborate with team members from different companies in real time is a very valuable tool. Having it cloud based also makes access to it simple for those partners that may not be at the same location.

What do you dislike?

The cost is the greatest disappointment. We pay for the service on a per job basis and it seems to be overpriced. There are also some occasional glitchy things when working in the system that don't make sense. Work arounds are usually found, and perhaps this is just a user-error.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Cost is a major consideration when utilizing touch plan. If other contractors or parties can see the benefit of the tool and are willing to share in the cost, that would be ideal.

Also, I would recommend having the schedule outline or structure in place before inviting any collaborative team members to contribute.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We use touch plan as a platform for collaborative schedule planning on a 30 million dollar construction project. While we are still new to the program, a few benefits have been realized. One being saved time compared to the previous method our company used. Second, the ability to collaborate. We are essentially buying a tool that each subcontractor can use to help plan and sequence their work. Third, it holds people accountable and keeps a record of what happened to paint a picture of the circumstances a while after the work took place.

"Touch plan has streamed lined pull planning sessions. "

What do you like best?

Touch plan is a hands on product where the program can be used in a traditional setting, I.e. meeting, or updated via a remote location.

What do you dislike?

Web based software. Most users are using a mobile device forcing them to use the wifi available. Most projects do not have the best WIFI, causing touch plan not to work properly.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Most of our trades prefer to be hands on. When trying to work through a problem in the schedule, we have been able to hold meeting on the project site and discuss scope associated with a specific area or floor.

"Great, and easy to use"

What do you like best?

To be able to create multiple floors with multiple tasks, with a touch of a button. Swim Lanes make it easier to see different floors at a time. I can generate reports based on the system that we are doing.

What do you dislike?

Wish there was an IOS app for it. Also if you could move swimlanes instead of having to move all of them to make them bigger.

"Very efficient way to schedule projects"

What do you like best?

The entire platform is very intuitive. It's very easy to pickup and use right away without seeing it before. I love how you just drag the activities around and all the days stick together.

What do you dislike?

Some contributors don't realize that the tasks down in the "on deck" tray can't be seen by everyone.

Get all your subs and other trades to really buy in to it. It makes the experience much more fluid.

Touchplan is a great way for everyone to COLLABORATE on the schedule. We used to do all our scheduling in Excel, and collaboration was minimal at best.

"Touch plan is a unique way to pull plan digitally. Its a great tool as it is easy to use "

What do you like best?

The platform provides a easy way to set up a project or multiple projects. Under each project the building can be sub divided into phases under the location option. Sub contractors and trade partners other companies on the job can be assigned to unique colors codes so its easier to understand the responsibilities during the phase planning. It can generate quick customized schedule reports. Its easy to invite people to the projects.

What do you dislike?

While generating reports the settings could get complicated on occasions. But it just might be me (Human error) as I am fairly new user to Touchplan.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Anybody can access the schedule information from off site. Job captains can share and contribute the plans and ideas for the field progress without being physically present at the jobsite.

"Project Engineer"

What do you like best?

Project visability. At any point I can review a project and know exactly where we are. It also easily enables you to make any necessary adjustments to the schedule. Very professional tool to show the GC your work plan.

What do you dislike?

Although it is not a problem for my team, if you do not have the field doing their part in keeping touchplan updated, that potentially be an issue.

Best tool that I have found, for both the field and office, to plan, coordinate, and track project work/manpower.

Project budget management and planning, which also works hand in hand with planning manpower. Coordination by being able to have a tool that you can show other contractors our work plan per schedule.

"New Touchplan User"

What do you like best?

I really like being how you can see the schedule in Touchplan. It is easy to move items around and see conflicts compared to other schedule apps I have used.

What do you dislike?

I wish that there was a way to run reports on specific swim lanes. it would be very beneficial if I could dive even deeper into the reports.

Just play around in the product, it takes some time to get used to but it is very useful!

We are able to more openly communicate from office to field about the schedule. We are also able to send reports to other contractors on the job site about what we need them to do in order to complete our work.

"Effective and efficient"

What do you like best?

The best part of Touchplan is how much quicker it is to pull plan a project than how we previously were doing it. We are able to condense a pull plan that would've been over 6 hours to complete to about 2 hours.

What do you dislike?

Although this is meant to be quicker than a normal pull plan, the initial set up with subcontractors takes a while as many are not technologically savvy and/or are resistant to doing things electronically. However, I believe they will start to buy in when they see how efficient it is.

Reducing the amount of time spent on pull planning. Subcontractors are able to track when other trades work will be complete. An overall central platform which can be tracked by everyone anywhere.

"Workiung with TouchPLan"

What do you like best?

Easy user interface. Quick to pick up all the different commands. It is a great tool to be able to make certain events dependent on others. It is great for accountability. I see this being most effective during construction.

What do you dislike?

Not very printer friendly. People seemed to stop using it after the first week of learning the software.

Ensure that everyone stays involved. Hold weekly meetings or even morning standing meetings to make sure everyone checks in and is on track. Make sure that this technical project is compatible with the personnel that you have. If they are unwilling to use the computer and quickly check things complete, etc. then you will be unsuccessful.

"Working as part of he A14IDT"

What do you like best?

It is a tool to get people together. To discuss plans and visually change things instantly. Allows individuals to work in isolation and effortlessly bring it all together at weekly collaboration meetings for example. I really like the gant report option as this is always used to try and understand resource demand and is the 1st stage in trying to level current resource and plan for future resource numbers

What do you dislike?

I don't like the fact there is not an 'undo' function. Sometimes bars can be moved accidentally and often its not obvious where they've moved from. The link function could be improved so that a serious of ativities could be moved at once if required.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Breaking down barriers between areas of work. Making all relevant people aware of the work not just in their area but elsewhere on the job. Levelling resources across the job. Making people more accountable for what they are putting in their 3 month look ahead programme

What do you like best?

The ability to get subcontractors involved in the planning processes as well as making them lock in their promise dates and being able to hold them accountable to those dates.

"A nice program "

What do you like best?

It is efficient and easy to use. It can help create an efficient workplace if used properly. If you ever get hung up on something, the support staff is very helpful. It helped create organization in a construction job that very much needed it!

What do you dislike?

It is a great program with not much to dislike. I wish all the other trades would update then it would be a real great tool!

It's a good product, can be tough to people who are not computer literate. However, the support staff is very helpful.

"Intuitive interface for scheduling using the last planner system "

What do you like best?

My field leads love the intuitive interface of Touchplan for developing their schedule utilizing the last planner system.

What do you dislike?

I would like to see some "power user" type training videos for educating our field leads and office staff how to best harness all of TouchPlans capabilities. To my knowledge, these do not exist.

Schedule sequencing and communication with other trades re: the impact of activities that are pushed or where deadlines are missed.

What do you like best?

pull planning via large touch screens, and the collaborativness

What do you dislike?

the limit of total tickets in a plan, the lack of takt-planning possibilities, no API possibilities, TP is no total solution for schedules(no good way of looking at the total picture of all the plans)

Be very thorough in the decition of what you want to use TP for. Its a very good tool for pull-planning, but lacks out on the total scheduler

"Worked well for the high rise office planning in Chandler AZ"

What do you like best?

Looked very clean and made it possible for all the projects subs to fill out and complete with ease. The biggest thing was being able to layer and stack the notes allowing us to create a visual representation of the projects on going and future activities. I liked the different colors and how it looked like a sheet of paper. So very retro in a male dominant industry

What do you dislike?

Seemed difficult to navigate and move sticky's. Also having the ability to copy and past would be greatly useful for all. The user interface was difficult for some and seemed to slow down our meetings. Again being able to duplicate notes would be a major asset. SO make that happen research and development department, please

Try before you buy! Give it a chance, it can really help to get your subs coordinated and a general plan in place before the project gets too hot and heavy. Together we can plan for a touchdown!! I think that the product is on the right track to becoming a primary and heavily relied upon tool in the planning and project management community. If you haven't heard the Touch plan is the word!

This made coordination among st sub contractors much more efficient. This tool made sure we followed the proper flow of material installation. "Touch Plan"

What do you like best?

I like how we can interact with each other and all be on the touch plan at the same time. I like how touchplan is there for the team and has been great with customer service.

What do you dislike?

It is hard to get the plan with dependencies where things move together. I have worked with touchplan to move to an hourly schedule within the schedule, so I appreciate that from them. It just took some imagination from both of us.

The licensing is expensive, so the project cost needs to justify spending the money on touchplan.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Collaborative scheduling of the project. This can be done from a remote site and all parties involved can be updating things at once. We can also lock the schedule and have no movement zones. Overall just being able to allow people to own the plan is really important to help drive accountability to the schedule.

"Wouldn't want to run another job without it."

The ability to allow input from the foreman planning and running the work to allow them to take owenrship of the information they are sharing.

What do you dislike?

The ability to link tasks is a bit cumbersome.

"Great collaboration tool"

What do you like best?

how easy it is to manage the last planner process. And also the formatting of the categories of variance and Percent plan complete. this really makes it easy to present this information to clients and trade partners to allocate resources better.

What do you dislike?

It's still a little challenging to view the stickies without having a very large screen.

Just start using it. it might seem difficult at first but once you get the hang of it you'll never want to run another project without it.

"Easy to use and teach"

What do you like best?

Quick response from support and easy use allows for easy training on new contractors coming into the project.

What do you dislike?

I don’t like that there is no back button if you drag the view bar to far or if you hit promise now and someone says, “oh wait I forgot ...” but that’s only because I like 100%.

I dislike that the swim lanes get locked in to an order. I also dislike how the Ghantt Charts print - A lot of the time they do not fit on 11x17s without minimizing the scale.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are able to get our foreman and crew on site to own a task duration and answer to why a schedule may slip. This protects us and gives us good metrics for tracking against project inefficiencies.

"Effective Scheduling Tool Depending On Project Scope & Size"

What do you like best?

Helps Subcontractor coordination & manpower planning.

What do you dislike?

Technology is challenging for veteran experienced skilled tradesman. They don't want "another" software to learn, so the GC has to allocate more time managing another subcontractors schedule for them.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Ensure the software will be beneficial for your project/ scope. Small detailed projects with specialty subs onsite for small durations won't benefit with the scheduling.

"Touch plan review"

What do you like best?

I like the layout with the dates and that is easy to look at and organize.

The pins and the batchs also works well with jobs that have more than one batch.

The color scheme also works well with the different trades. I like the home screen which makes it easy to find the jobs so they are seperated.

What do you dislike?

I do not like the way the way the program works with moving things around. It seems to be very difficult and time consuming to move things around. would also like to have. a way to overlap

tickets. Would be nice if you could actually have it where you could see through the ticket

like it was transparent

"Touchplan Review"

What do you like best?

Easy to use, lots of features to edit/find/color code. I can easily update the schedule and see updates that come in. There is also room for multiple project schedules so I can zoom into one aspect or feature of the project at a given time.

What do you dislike?

Some tools not yet available (in development). I have reached out to Touchplan's help desk and they have submitted the need for additional features. Their online tech support has been very helpful and they are extremely responsive.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I am not sure how cost compares, but Touchplan is a great tool if you are already using pull planning on your project.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Scheduling, coordinating with subs, working with a big team: I work on a large team with many different companies. Touchplan is a tool that everyone can use simultaneously. It has been a collaborative process.

"Superintendent"

What do you like best?

We have been using the last planner for about two years. To me the best part is that we can do all the input via the program and not have to do everything manually with stickies and or paper weeklies.

What do you dislike?

We have not used it enough to dislike anything yet. We have made a couple of suggestions/request to have Toughplan implement.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Like I said we have only been using it for a month and a half so it's pretty new. I think the benefit is the subcontractors can put all their tickets in via their computer or the iPads.

As far as I'm aware phases can't be connected together in order to see dependent between each other.

I love that you can assign colors to each team member so that everyone can easily identify their task.

I dislike that you have to be very careful when moving around in the touchplan because you can easily move a task and not know it.

"Great visibility tool"

What do you like best?

it makes tracking much easier, as well as keeps people honest!

What do you dislike?

You can't roll up several projects into one report. There is no 'pretty' way of printing the entire ghantt.

I like the ability to have assigned post/task items and they show the early/late days for completion of the tasks.

What do you dislike?

I didn't like the way projects were first shown as squares to pick from on the home screen but i've come to enjoy that simple means of organizing projects/plans.

What do you like best?

Easy to assign roles; completing and adding stickies to the pull plan was straight forward; 'live' functionality great for showing interaction of trades/last planners

What do you like best?

Collaborative approach to schedule development and management. Platform encourages discussion between trades to focus on how activities interact with each other to deliver a complete project. Web based platform also allows constant access to information can be shared with all parties in real time.

What do you dislike?

Platform could be optimized for more functional/intuitive use on portable devices. Manipulating tickets on an iPad, for example, can be difficult

What do you like best?

The ability to collaborate with the construction team and the ability to email the agreed upon schedule to the project team.

What do you dislike?

In the past, I did construction project scheduling primarily on an excel spreadsheet by myself. Learning to create a schedule with a team has been challenging, however touchplan has made this process much simpler.

Touchplan has kept us from overlooking small but important tasks that need to be done in a certain sequence due to the input and collaboration from the entire construction team.

"Amazingly easy, Great value"

What do you like best?

I very much like the way that it has simply taken the analog wall of sticky notes and made it digital. It has taken out the steps of converting the analog notes into some sort of schedule and added the ability to automatically track progress.

What do you dislike?

Reports are not as customizable as we would like.

We have been able to effectively sequence many Of our construction projects down to very small intervals. We are realizing great savings in time and the ability to forecast possible issues earlier.

What do you like best?

I like the simplicity, being able to zoom in and out and see the whole picture.

What do you dislike?

Not being able to print the diagram directly. The new pricing for Touchplan is also a big negative. By pricing based on project size it made Touchplan too expensive for big projects.

Construction is a pre historic industry that needs lots of changing. Usually field work is organized last minute. With touchplan, field personnel are forced to plan their work and force trades to do the same.

"Good but not great....yet"

What do you like best?

Ease of use and ability for trade partners to create their own tickets and place them in sequence. Ability to copy and paste groups of tickets. Much better than using sticky notes.

What do you dislike?

Difficulty in creating logic ties and longer term planning. Would like better functionality for long term sequence planning for milestones that are farther out in the project timeline. Dislike the "active line" theory that is used.

Consider that it does not do critical path type logic ties and creating logic takes a lot of work. You will need to add this to your current critical path schedule, not replace your current CPM schedule.

Short term planning and reporting. We have unearthed several issues much earlier than we would have with traditional methods.

"Project Engineer using for large commercial project. "

What do you like best?

Great visual display, easy to use. I think that it is really useful for our foreman to be able to actually see the schedule instead of just reading it in a text for. It is also easy to rearrange items once they are uploaded.

What do you dislike?

No reports for swim lanes is a bummer. It would be great if we could use reports for swim lanes to get a deeper look into where man power is needed. Sub swim lanes would also be a great feature.

What do you like best?

The ability to take pull planning from post its and markers to a live electronic collaborative process that can be used by teams during online meetings.

Still needs some growth time to make entering data and scheduling even faster.

This is a must have application for anyone trying to collaborate in an effective manner with multiple sites or multiple design sectors to common end goal deliverables. The ability to pull plan and direct sequence of required needs cross discipline as well as then schedule those items out and in real time modify and commit to common shared goals is a game changer.

"Only works for pullplanning"

What do you like best?

Its interface is ok, bou it is a very limited tool

What do you dislike?

Very limited tool. Not every project, nor every phase of a project is controlled using pull planning, and this tool does not preform well unless you only use pull planning, plus it takes away a lot of the interaction of the parties during pull planning sessions

It should adress all of the last planner sistem, including strategic plan, detailed plan, and daily plan, no only focus on pull planing

Rather than sifting through lengthy CPM schedules, Touchplan is easily understandable from a quick glance. It gives trades a chance to have input on schedule which overall creates a realistic time frame.
