It allows you track scheduled tasks from a very small and precise scale to a large overall. it also allows you to track the tasks of each of your predecessors and adjust accordingly. In construction things are extremely fluid. circumstances change sometimes by the hour. the feature where the controlling entity has you "promise" just seems like a way for them to hold something against you, regardless of the real situation. We are happy you’re enjoying planning in Touchplan. You’re right! Things are constantly changing on the jobsite and it’s easy to track those changes in Touchplan. Promising tasks in Touchplan helps teams hold each other accountable and document the reality of the project. It helps teams track how well they are doing at planning and helps identify areas for improvement. (ie. If a storm came through and resulted in a lot of rework, we want that to be reflected in the plan to give trades the opportunity to replan the work.) Love to hear that you are liking the ability to customize your schedule in Touchplan. We currently have no way to hide parts of the plan - we built the tool this way to ensure everyone is clear about other tasks impacting their work and how their own work is impacting others onsite. One feature you should definitely take advantage of is our crew size feature where you can view crew sizes for a selection of roles - instead of looking across everyone’s crew sizes on the project. We’re all about teams coordinating and prioritizing work through projects. The plan adapts to what’s actually happening on site to not only help the customer, but the trades to plan better - everyone makes more profit. Having seen Touchplan used on hundreds of jobsites, our clients are finding that some upfront planning time in Touchplan pays off in reducing confusion onsite, preventing onsite fires and improving their chances of getting the job done faster. Sounds like in your experience the up front planning time didn't have as big a payoff.
