What do you like best about Surfer?

The Content Editor. In the past, writing exceptional content was an incredibly manual process. You'd need a spreadsheet of keywords you wanted to include, the number of instances of each keyword, and nothing but a good guess at where the keyword should be used (i.e. in H1, H2s, etc). Surfer removes this manual element of content creation. Start typing and you'll see the Content Score move in real time as you complete words or add them in the right places or right densities. What do you dislike about Surfer?

It's not really a grumble - but for more advanced users, it might be useful to have more granular information available in the Content Editor. For instance, the Content Editor will give you an ideal number of instances of a particular keyword - but when you've finished your page copy and uploaded it to your site, you might find that there are additional factors that need your attention. Honestly though, this eye for detail is what seperates a good Surfer writer and an excellent Surfer writer - so having to go back and tweak on-page elements beyond the Content Editor isn't really a problem ;) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Surfer solving and how is that benefiting you?

Surfer helps me put a tangible quality on my writing. In the past, clients would ask me to write - but whether or not the content was good depended on their opinion or how it performs over the coming weeks/months. What do you like best about Surfer?

The content Audit tool for competitive content is very good. You still need to use your intuition - following the recommendation to the letter doesn't work, and the content can be augmented to a point where it becomes less readable. But it's still a super useful tool. It's the best in the market at this. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Surfer?

They keep scaling your package cost. Frustratingly, they add services I don't need and have in other Pro-level SEO tools like Ahrefs. At the same time, they take away services that I signed up for and need. Then force me to upgrade. (But tell me I'm on a legacy plan - but with less functionality that I originally paid for).

To do real SEO work, you will always need SEMRush or Ahrefs. Surfer is a content audit and improvement supplement. It's really good at this. These extra features they add aren't with it for me because I have other better tools.

Billing is a mess. Constant issues. When you upgrade, they will not pro rata your invoice. You just lose that month's subscription fee. The pass some of you credit over. But mostly, you lose your subscription fee and have to fight for a refund. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
