What do you like best about SMTP.com?

Nothing. Their service was terrible. The email delivery simply did not work. Some emails were delivered in 15 minutes, some were delivered in 6 hours, and some were never delivered at all. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Josiah was helpful when I could chat with him by phone while trying to set up my account and add the extra domains. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SMTP.com?

I signed up for an SMTP.com account 14 March 2023. I was able to add my first domain without issue but quickly learned that to add more domains, you have to contact support for each domain to have them activate it on their end. Ticket requests to add domains went unanswered, so I called and got help by phone. It was very tedious, but I stayed with it for a couple of days to get everything set up.

One of the domains had a sending error for some reason. I still don't know why, and could never get resolved.

I'm on Pacific time, and they are on Eastern time, so support is touch and go. Chat is never available... it goes to an email form. Phone support is available, but only during daytime hours EST. I'm not okay with no support available on weekends regarding email delivery -- if there are issues, I need to know I can reach someone.

But by far, the WORST part about SMTP.com is trying to cancel! I have been trying to cancel my account since the 20th of March. I quickly determined that SMTP.com would not work for me for the reasons I have already mentioned. I moved all my domains to another service, got everything up and running on the 20th and requested cancellation via email with SMTP.com.

I even paid the $30 invoice for the entire month, even though I only used the service for a few days.

So far, the only responses I have received are, "Why are you cancelling?" And, "We will offer you a discount to stay." They are completely ignoring my requests to cancel my account! I have asked SIX times now to cancel. Ridiculous. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about SMTP.com?

They have quite an aggressive sales team but the level of support and expertise they have is amazing.

We had deliverability issues with sparkpost before and they just shut down our account and with smtp folks we were able to quickly setup everything and have good results so far. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Nothing, I thought they were a reliable service but was sorely disappointed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We signed up with SMTP.COM to improve the reliability of email delivery for our customers, but without any notice whatsoever we found our account cancelled on a friday night, severely impacting the experience for our customers.

If there were any issues with the emails being sent they should have contacted us, they did not, they simply cancelled our subscription on a friday night without any notification to us.

To make matters worse we had just paid them for a month's worth of service, i'm so thankful that we did not pre-pay for any further service than this with these clowns.

I emailed them requesting a reason why the account was cancelled and requesting a refund, they declined to answer my questions and also declined to refund despite us paying for a month only 3 days ago. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about SMTP.com?

They integrate with a lot of stuff. For a monthly service it's reasonably priced. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

They make it very hard to cancel.

You cannot cancel in the portal, and you cannot cancel by email, you need to call them and hope for the best. There are many reviewers online who have been scammed and been unable to stop continuous charges.

They never respond to emails.

Amazon SES is far superior and much cheaper.

I can't see a single reason to use these guys and don't recommend them unless you need to urgently raise your blood pressure. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about SMTP.com?

The cost wasn't bad but all of our emails using this service had delivery issues. Perhaps too many people spamming with smtp.com? Not sure... but we didn't have much luck. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SMTP.com?

Emails seemed to go to spam a lot. We used several different services including Amazon SES and Send Grid and smtp.com seems to generate the worst delivery results of the bunch. When we tried to cancel, they took it upon themselves to keep an extra payment - nice of them. I would recommend you skip this service and find something with better deliverability. We've tried for years to improve the results on this platform and it's just not worth the hassle. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

They won't refund me my money. I signed up for Free trial but never used it because they took forever approving my account. Then they charge me... Now they won't refund me? So slimy and sketchy. Impossible to get a hold of. I call them and they won't transfer me to someone that knows how to deal with the problem. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
