## Mailgun Reviews
  ### 1. Effortless Email Automation with Top-Notch Deliverability

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nate H. | Customer Success Rep, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 16, 2026

**What do you like best about Mailgun?**

I use Mailgun for all our automated reports, welcome invites to users, and even password reset emails. What I like most about Mailgun is its simplicity. Their deliverability is incredible, especially when compared to our other more marketing-based email system. The initial setup was very easy and it's built for easy development. Mailgun handles all of these emails for us, so we don't have to manually manage them. The logs are also incredibly well done, making it easy to go back and find any issues with why emails aren’t being sent.

**What do you dislike about Mailgun?**

Not much. I'm being nitpicky here, but when you're on a large monitor, and you want to add filters to your logs that you're looking through, because the filters show on the far right, it's just a little weird to me. Like I look at the left, click the filter button, to have them show on the right. Not that bad, like I said, being nitpicky

**What problems is Mailgun solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mailgun handles our automated reports, welcome invites, and password resets, so we don't manually manage them. The logging feature helps us identify email issues.

  ### 2. Easy Setup, Flexible SDKs, and a Rich Email Tracking Dashboard

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** NILADRI A. | SDE -1, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2026

**What do you like best about Mailgun?**

Very easy to set up, with a variety of SDKs to integrate into my codebase. It also has a rich dashboard for tracking emails and creating custom HTML templates.

**What do you dislike about Mailgun?**

Pricing and feature limits can become confusing as usage scales, and some advanced configurations have a learning curve for new users.

**What problems is Mailgun solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mailgun simplifies sending, receiving, and managing transactional emails through its SDK and API. Which helps developer's to handle email verification, password resets, and other notifications free limit is also good with 3000 emails to test in dev mode

  ### 3. Effortless Setup with CloudFlare Integration and Clear Deliverability Insights

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Emilio G. | Python developer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 09, 2026

**What do you like best about Mailgun?**

It is very easy to setup, they build quite simple step by step interface for that, even have integration with CloudFlare to add DNS records automatically. Deliverability graph is done simple and nicely, shows failed emails right away as well.

**What do you dislike about Mailgun?**

One time integration with CloudFlare didn't work for some reason, it said try in couple minutes again but was down at least for an hour so I had to manually add records. Otherwise everything was fine.

**What problems is Mailgun solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sending marketing and transactional emails with good deliverability rate, because otherwise need to setup own servers, warm them up and monitor it, which is complicated. So it is better use some service like MailGun to outsource it.

  ### 4. Effortless Email Management with High Deliverability

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bruno L. | CTO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 17, 2026

**What do you like best about Mailgun?**

We like Mailgun's very clean UI/UX, which makes it easy to use. It's reliable with 100% uptime. The API is easy to implement, and I appreciate that it also offers an SMTP option. We switched from Amazon SES to Mailgun because of the better UI and fewer deliverability issues. The initial setup of Mailgun was very easy, taking just a few minutes. We also like that Mailgun can be connected to many other software, such as Iterable.

**What do you dislike about Mailgun?**

Setting up tracking can be a bit complex depending on how you manage your SSL certificate and if it allows multi-level subdomains. Also, logs can be fairly complex to navigate, it always takes a lot of time to find a specific email, there's no easy search feature.

**What problems is Mailgun solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Mailgun for sending emails, ensuring high deliverability. Mailgun offers a better UI and fewer deliverability issues than Amazon SES.

  ### 5. Reliable Email Delivery with Powerful Features and Easy Integration

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rene M. | Solution Architect, Outsourcing/Offshoring, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Mailgun?**

Mailgun has proven to be highly reliable for sending transactional emails and system notifications. Its API is thoroughly documented, simple to integrate, and offers the flexibility needed for more complex scenarios. I have consistently experienced strong deliverability, and the inclusion of features such as logs, webhooks, and event tracking greatly simplifies debugging and monitoring email performance. Setting up DNS is uncomplicated, and authentication methods like SPF, DKIM, and DMARC are well supported.

**What do you dislike about Mailgun?**

As your usage increases, the pricing model can become quite costly, which may be a concern for smaller teams or startups. Although the UI is functional, it appears outdated in certain sections and may be challenging for users without a technical background. Additionally, accessing some advanced features often requires searching through documentation, as they are not always prominently displayed within the dashboard.

**What problems is Mailgun solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mailgun addresses the difficulty of sending dependable, scalable transactional emails without the need to maintain internal mail servers. It has proven particularly useful for handling application-generated messages such as account notifications, password resets, and system alerts. The detailed insight into delivery events and failures allows us to diagnose problems swiftly, which in turn enhances our system's reliability and strengthens user trust.

  ### 6. Reliable High-Volume Email Delivery with Some Initial Setup Challenges

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** María Elena S. | IT Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 14, 2025

**What do you like best about Mailgun?**

The best thing about Mailgun is its ability to handle high sending volumes reliably while protecting our domain's reputation.

As a commercial SME, we send a lot of electronic documentation, and before using Mailgun, our domain was constantly being blocked due to high bounce rates and invalid emails.

Mailgun automatically manages and filters these issues, which is crucial for our operations. The fact that they control the 'messy' side of email sending means our critical documents always get delivered, and our domain is safe. Their fast support is also a major plus.

**What do you dislike about Mailgun?**

Honestly, once it’s set up, there's not much to dislike because it just works.

If I had to pick something, I'd say the initial setup and interface can be a little confusing. Getting the DNS records and the API integration done was complicated for a small company like ours that doesn't have a full IT team. It felt very technical at first.

It would be great if they had a super simple "Setup for Business Owners" guide, not just the technical docs. But again, once you get through that initial hurdle, it’s excellent.

**What problems is Mailgun solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main problem Mailgun is solving for us is domain reputation and email delivery failure.

  ### 7. Reliable with Powerful Features, But Pricey Scaling

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** B S.

**Reviewed Date:** December 12, 2025

**What do you like best about Mailgun?**

I love Mailgun's one-line API send, which means I can add just 5 lines of code and all my emails keep working forever without any server config issues. The templates and variables are amazing because I don't have to hardcode anything like “Hey {{name}}” again, which saves me hours every week. Batch sending is a huge plus as I can send 10k personalized emails in one call, completing the task in seconds rather than hours. The real-time webhooks are fantastic; they auto-clean the list the second an email hard-bounces, helping me avoid losing money on dead emails. Inbound routes are incredibly helpful because they automatically create tickets when customers reply, making me look professional without extra effort. Auto suppressions are a lifesaver, preventing me from accidentally spamming anyone who has unsubscribed or bounced, which preserves my sender reputation. The one-click unsubscribe handling is a big win, reducing angry replies and keeping my support inbox manageable. I appreciate the searchable logs that let me verify delivery quickly, often ending conversations within 30 seconds. The free sandbox domain for testing is also great because I can test every email flow right away without buying a domain. The two-click DKIM/SPF/DMARC setup is really convenient, and having a dedicated IP when I grow helps with scalability.

**What do you dislike about Mailgun?**

{"Sudden account suspensions without warning – I wake up to my entire email flow dead because their bot flagged 'suspicious activity' (even on legit transactional stuff), and support ghosts me for days while users flood my DMs saying 'where's my reset link?!' Total trust-killer.","Pricing ramps up way too fast once I grow – Starts cheap for my MVP, but hit 50k emails/mo and bam—$35 base jumps with overages, plus dedicated IPs at $90+? I feel nickel-and-dimed when I'm just trying to onboard more users without rewriting my code.","Free tier got gutted and feels useless now – Used to be a lifesaver for bootstrapping, but now it's 30 days/5k emails then throttles hard to 300/day with 1-day logs only. I outgrew it in week 2, forcing me to pay sooner than planned.","Setup and dashboard scream 'dev-only' – No wizard for domains/DNS—I’m pasting TXT records at 2am and hoping I didn’t typo. The UI is clunky for quick checks; I end up in API docs more than the dashboard, which slows me down when I’m iterating fast.","Deliverability hiccups to Outlook/Hotmail – Gmail/Yahoo are fine, but 20-30% of my Microsoft users never see password resets or alerts. Their 'warm-up' advice is vague, and I waste hours tweaking content just to chase inbox placement.","Support is email/ticket roulette – No live chat or phone unless I'm on the $90 plan. A bounce spike or webhook glitch? I submit a ticket and stare at 'under review' for 48+ hours while my churn ticks up. Phone support as a paywall feels punitive.","Logs vanish too quick on basics – Free/basic plans keep logs for 1-3 days only—user complains 'I didn’t get the invoice' a week later, and I have zero proof to debug. Forces me to build my own archiving, which is dumb.","No built-in marketing tools or pretty templates – I'm stuck coding simple HTML for promos or 'trial ending' nudges, then pairing with Mailchimp for anything drip-y. Why not bundle basics so I don't juggle two dashboards?","Occasional outages or delays I can’t predict – Rare, but when their API hiccups (like that global queue issue last month), my whole signup flow breaks. No real-time status page alerts—I'm scrambling via Twitter instead of building."}

**What problems is Mailgun solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mailgun ensures emails hit the inbox, automates replies, and provides full tracking. It solves deliverability issues, prevents manual export of bounced emails, and simplifies promo sends. I trust it for reliable high-volume sending, dev-friendly API, and generous free tier.

  ### 8. Mailgun Permanently Blocked My Account Without Any Warning

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 27, 2025

**What do you like best about Mailgun?**

The dashboard was simple to use, and sending bulk emails was smooth until my account was suddenly blocked.

**What do you dislike about Mailgun?**

I had been using Mailgun for sending thousands of customer emails daily, and suddenly, without any prior warning or updates, they permanently blocked my account.

I received a generic email from support (attached below), but they refused to share any valid reason for disabling my account. Because of this, I lost all my work, email history, and campaigns that I had built inside Mailgun.

It’s extremely unprofessional for a company to shut down an account permanently without explanation or even a chance to resolve the issue. I relied on this service for my business, and this action caused a huge loss.

If you are planning to use Mailgun, please think twice — your account can be disabled anytime without notice, and you will lose all your data and effort. Very unreliable service!

**What problems is Mailgun solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mailgun was helping me send bulk emails (around 1000+ daily) to my customers for marketing and communication. Initially, it solved the problem of reaching my audience easily. But now, since they permanently disabled my account without warning, all those benefits are gone and I have lost all my work.

  ### 9. Seamless Email Integration with Reliable Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Richard B. | Senior Implementation Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 16, 2025

**What do you like best about Mailgun?**

I love Mailgun's seamless integration, which has made it incredibly easy to send emails from the applications I develop. The reliability is excellent, and the API is straightforward to use, fitting perfectly into my workflow. I appreciate the scalability, allowing me to increase email volume as needed, and the pricing is reasonable. The free tier was a great start, and it has improved over the years.

**What do you dislike about Mailgun?**

I would change the way the domain names are set up in the system. There are too many technical details that you have to put into your domain name DNS, and sometimes, novice users would get confused about that.

**What problems is Mailgun solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Mailgun to send email notifications from my applications, ensuring reliable email delivery and simplifying integration with its API key. It's user-friendly and 100% reliable in my projects, allowing easy workflow integration and scaling email send volume affordably.
