We only realized later how customizable the software is and how much we could build ourselves on top of it, which meant we discovered certain potentials later than necessary. It is a out of the box app solution for your online shop (best case: Shopware or shopify) which includes the essential shopping functionality. When we started with Shopgate, having a great mobile site was an advantage we had as the rest of the market caught up. Now that everyone has a solid mobile platform, having our own dedicated app is our next competitive advantage. **What do you dislike about Shopgate?** Having two platforms (Shopify for desktop and Shopgate for mobile/app) does create some complications. The design was attractive and the idea of having a full site app was attractive. **What do you dislike about Shopgate?** From the start there were several issues with compatibility with Volusion. The system required a separate login to edit items that were not importing properly. An entirely different set of product codes were created by Shopgate for their system, which made it difficult to find products to edit them in the app. Editing of these items required assistance from customer service, which took a minimum of 3 business days. Some items were never resolved so we removed them from the mobile app. Our built-in affiliate program would not track and we received many complaints from affiliates not receiving credit. We had issues with shipping integration. Products were appearing one day and hidden the next. Our auto-ship options were no longer functional. Since we could not capture credit cards, we had to contact all auto-ship customers and inform them their orders were rejected and required manual overrides. We lost many sales due to this. None of the actual site content was visible to visitors. With a content-rich site, we received many complaints from customers who were unable to view content. We invested over $1K to start this up and $300 per month and lost sales. **Recommendations to others considering Shopgate:** See if your service provider has built in options and test them before seeking any third party apps. **What problems is Shopgate solving and how is that benefiting you?** None. We cancelled Shopgate and now use the integrated mobile app with the Volusion system and have seen an increase in sales and customer satisfaction. The benefit? I am saving $300 per month and actually making more money with less headaches since we shut it off. ### 20. Onboarding took 6 months until pressuring them to go live before end-of-year. Success manager changed multiple times and was out of the office too frequently. Never got answers to negative ROI in the first three months. Ended up terminating agreement. **Recommendations to others considering Shopgate:** Consider other options, took forever to go live. **What problems is Shopgate solving and how is that benefiting you?** Trying to capitalize on boosting mobile sales.
