Some of the legacy tools would have easier functionally if a column or 2 could be added. Even with lightning being used, there is not much that can be changed about the display format, specifically with sizing. The other complaint that I have, which may be with ERPs in general, is that the standard tool will only do 90-95% of the job. It is our all-in-one cloud solution for ERP, warehouse management, product allocation and shipping. We currently use Rootstock Cloud ERP alongside Rootstock Financials and leverage a Bringg and Shopify Integration to allow our customers to see live stock counts and to order directly, with all orders feeding into our system. It also has extensive capabilities as an MRP system which we leverage. We were able to work with Rootstock with a bespoke picking system that works directly within Salesforce too, rather than having to purchase a WMS separately. Their support teams have been very good and responsive before and since go-live and have helped us massively with any issues that have surfaced. **What do you dislike about Rootstock Cloud ERP?** We initially had some challenges with the WMS system although Rootstock is not marked as a solution for this, but it has definitely improved on this front with collaboration with our users and their support team. While not an ERP related issue, Rootstock Financials, as more specifically for US companies initially had some teething issues but many of these have been resolved with collaborative effort. From a Salesforce Admin POV I have found some of the views/layouts a little restrictive initially although Rootstock have made great efforts to improve this. **What problems is Rootstock Cloud ERP solving and how is that benefiting you?** It provides us with a cloud solution for an ERP which in itself is quite a feat! For an SME like ourselves it saves us having to invest in a hefty solution like SAP for MRP while also being a fairly easy platform for users to learn and interact with as it's built on the Salesforce platform. It also allows users to login remotely without issue to perform tasks, such as RMAs etc. Having the capability of Salesforce's reporting and dashboard suite in tow, it makes it easy for executive staff to follow trends on ordering, cash flow, and so on too. ### 5. It’s impressive how much you can do as an administrator, but the setup isn’t well organized or clearly defined, and it can quickly become overwhelming. I can see one data name on the screen, but when I go to create a report, I can’t find it because it shows up under a different name. I would like to see timely product improvements/features. By switching to Rootstock, we’ve also been able to bring our financial and operating worlds together, which has created a smoother process flow for users. The onboarding process provided a lot of support from personnel and we've continued to receive assistance and regular check-ins over the years. The Fixed Asset feature has saved us a lot of time and helped reduce potential human error by moving our asset tracking out of a spreadsheet and into a straightforward system. Once an asset is entered, it calculates and processes the related transactions for you, which makes the overall tracking process much simpler. The option to integrate with Salesforce and our bank is an absolutely necessary feature which Rootstock is able to accomodate. Rootstock also has a high performance level when we have many users logged in and performing transactions. We have yet to experience AI within our system but are confident that Rootstock will work to integrate it, as they are always working to improve their product. ERP systems may not be cheap, but the payoff is well worth the reporting capabilities which allow our Executive team to strategically lead us toward growth. **What do you dislike about Rootstock Cloud ERP?** Rootstock is difficult for the average user to learn. There are so many settings that when something isn’t working, it can be hard to pinpoint the cause. Because the system is complex, even after we set something up, there’s still a chance it isn’t configured correctly and we may not realize it. The Site Map is also too large and needs to be easier to navigate. It would help if it were limited based on the user’s role, rather than showing a long list of options they’ll never need. Another issue we’ve run into with the Site Map is that Rootstock makes frequent updates, but when an item should no longer be used, it remains available on the Site Map instead of being replaced by the new item. That creates confusion about which items we should be using, and we’ve ended up sticking with using the same older items for years, such as Cash Receipts and Bank Statement Reconciliation. Another note to add on the topic of the Bank Statement Reconciliation is that Rootstock has spent at least the last year improving and correcting this feature. It currently has issues that cause it to be inaccurate, leading to a manual bank reconciliation being a better option which is not acceptable. When a system update causes a change to our accounting, like the application of a prepayment to an invoice, it can cause our GL accounts to be overstated which is a major accounting concern that we were not notified of when the update was made. Better visibility on updates such as these are necessary for our business to keep up with changes as they happen. **What problems is Rootstock Cloud ERP solving and how is that benefiting you?** Rootstock is improving the Bank Statement Reconciliation feature which is absolutely necessary, as manual reconciliations are becoming a thing of the past, and accurate timely information is crucial to our business's success. We expect that working AI into our system will be a huge advantage to us and are depending on Rootstock to lead this and make it possible in the near future. ### 8. It is almost impossible to constantly do the updates that are released. And then you go through all testing and update, but you have an issue which is fixed and incorporated into the next update, so you need to upgrade yet again. Having either quarterly or half year updates at a scheduled time would be best. And fixes in between can be pushed as patches. AS far as implementation, I would not call it easy. It may sound basic, but Rootstock pulls these pieces together really well, and its flexibility has helped our company open subsidiaries in two countries. **What do you dislike about Rootstock Cloud ERP?** In a system where you'd like to use a single org for a global company (via the use of divisions), there is only relatively new developments that allow for complete separation of the two divisions. I.e. employees from country A cannot access any operational or financial information about country B, and vice versa. These new developments are being tested in our company at the moment and will go-live soon. **What problems is Rootstock Cloud ERP solving and how is that benefiting you?** Rootstock is working on a matching system and auto adjustment of our accrued landed costs GL accounts (as far as I'm aware, this affects many companies who do not physically receive their goods until weeks after landed costs are generated in the system). This will benefit us because the accrued accounts will be adjusted closer to real time, rather than waiting for there to be a big enough delta, which then needs to be adjusted and hits the P/L for a specific month. This will help us keep a much closer eye on our landed costs. ### 11. There is a some flexibility in getting your processes in place to capture all the required information and keep on top of production and inventory. **What do you dislike about Rootstock Cloud ERP?** Because it's built on Saleforce, it's extremely limited by the core architecture. So comparison reports like looking at sales vs work orders isn't possible. You can make a kludge, but realistically you have to export information into excel or another package to process data. For example we have to export all our sales data to set up sales forecasting that we then import back in to make MRP functional. This is because the MRP system assumes only the past and can't really reflect future projections. **What problems is Rootstock Cloud ERP solving and how is that benefiting you?** Rootstock has given us a single system of record across financials, inventory, and production, which has reduced the manual reconciliation we were doing across disconnected spreadsheets. Having GL, stock locations, and cost data in one place makes it easier to track expenses and inventory movements accurately. The main benefit has been better visibility. We can pull consistent data for reporting and decision-making rather than piecing it together from multiple sources, which saves time and improves the reliability of the numbers we work from. ### 12. Being on salesforce there are many integration options that help us find better ways to operate **What do you dislike about Rootstock Cloud ERP?** It often feels like a clunky user experience out of the box, and does require a lot of customization to get a nice finished product. We get a lot of complaints about too many clicks for processes and slow load times (though some of this may be attributed to our wifi) and support can be a challenge to navigate when there are misunderstandings about our requests. Having better documentation is a huge pain point for us as well. Often the community articles do not align with actual operations or are missing steps and or clarity on processes. If there was robust documentation that would really help **What problems is Rootstock Cloud ERP solving and how is that benefiting you?** Having all of our CRM and ERP/Financials data on a single platform makes reporting and analysis much easier and allows us to review how sales activities are affecting financials with relative ease ### 13. On top of that, customer success/support has been highly responsive. **What do you dislike about Rootstock Cloud ERP?** Difficult to train on because of the extremely high level of customizability. There are too many editing restrictions; as business needs change, it would be helpful to be able to update existing items instead of having to start over from scratch. Bank reconciliation and credit card reconciliation also need improvement. Pricing is expensive. This integration eliminates past issues we had with syncing our CRM and ERP databases since it all uses the same database now. I did not have much experience with other ERP systems and Rootstock is very logical system. IF you follow the training and successfully enter and clean your data, the system flows and you can access the data from various avenues. Our post-implementation support has been extremely helpful in navigating some of our errors in implementation (from our consultants). Suggestions by the Rootstock team to "turn on" various features that were not done during implementation have made a significant difference in our efficiency and abilty to analyze our data (i.e. Financal Analytics). I use the system everyday and the ability to export information is key for my work. **What do you dislike about Rootstock Cloud ERP?** One of the downsides in reporting is that you cannot access each available object in every report. There is the ability to link reports together, but that is very technical (but also could be due to my lack of understanding). There are alot of upgrades that are being rolled out and it is difficult to keep up with the number of upgrades. **What problems is Rootstock Cloud ERP solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our entity was very unique and complicated as we were acquired from a large conglomerate. We had a deadline to implement the system as the previous system was going away. As such, all functions had to be up and running at time of Go-Live. So every aspect of the ERP system is being utilized and helping us to run the business. Every function had to be addressed with this ERP system...especially shipping out of a new warehouse. Some integrations with shipping software had to be done which has worked out very well so far. A common workaround is to load orders in multiple tabs at once, then return to each and perform the desired operations. Since the extra time in opening a form has a greatest impact when needing to load several records, opening a separate tab for each nicely limits the impact. **What problems is Rootstock Cloud ERP solving and how is that benefiting you?** My work has mostly involved reporting and building interfaces between our other information platforms and Rootstock. The Salesforce platform makes all of this fairly simple, so we can use Excel, Access, Apex code, or using custom flows and formula fields for reporting within Salesforce, whichever is most convenient. We have eliminated a lot of duplicative data entry by automating the interfaces, which is quite easy to do, allowing us to reduce our monthly close process from 5 days to 2. ### 18. Its nice that out of the box, the Account and Customer Master is linked. This allows us to give our Sales team valuable data without having to manual connect the two. Along with being built on Salesforce, it is keeping up with newer features like the navigation with Salesforce Lightning. Customizing page layouts and fine tuning the experience for each department with automations has helped with reducing process times increasing the efficiency of our employees. Rootstock has a really good support system, not only with direct Rootstock employees, but they also have the community which provides documentation and discussions with other Rootstock users from different companies. The commonity also included the idea factory which allows customers to suggest a process or idea to be implemented into Rootstock which could benefit all users. Just recently they have started implementing AI into Rootstock. We have been testing the one on the community which can help find and give snapshots from documentation you are looking for. The system has handled our workloads/processes well. Rootstock has a lot of objects and it still handles a bunch of data or automations extremely well without any major issues or bogging the system down. It has been well worth the venture of moving out of our previous ERP and into Rootstock. **What do you dislike about Rootstock Cloud ERP?** Rootstock is quite a big platform. Compared to our previous ERP, there are at least maybe 2-3 times more objects than what we are used to. It took a bit of a learning curve for some of our users in some aspects. Now that was also a bit of our own team prefering how it used to be or just comfortable in how it used to be, but it did cause some challenges. I wish that with the license structure, there was a way to choose the type of salesforce license you wanted with it instead of paying for a Rootstock license which comes with a salesforce platform license. If we wanted a full salesforce license in liou of a platform, it can't be done directly with Rootstock. So we would have to purchase that directly through Salesforce to get the full license and then still have a empty platform license that may or may not ever be used. **What problems is Rootstock Cloud ERP solving and how is that benefiting you?** The different systems like MRP and DRP which helps us with setting stocking levels company wide with MRP and then have DRP set where that inventory needs to go for our external warehouses. The financial package can be tricky to navigate. While reporting is great, we need to refine the report types to ensure that users can create their own meaningful (and correct!) reports. **What problems is Rootstock Cloud ERP solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are hopeful that Rootstock will: - Improve a specific limitation surrounding the out of the box DRP functionality. Tremendous collection of useful data and processes. Multiple Customer Masters, the inability to send timely AR statements and only one email recipient for customer invoicing is an issue. The inability to create proper financial statements (need to upload into Excel) is a waste of time and resources.
