Rocket.Chat's standout feature lies in its adaptability and customization capabilities, enabling users to tailor their communication and collaboration environment to precise specifications. The open-source nature of the platform fosters a vibrant community of developers, allowing for continuous improvement and a wide array of plugins and integrations. Additionally, the emphasis on real-time messaging, robust security measures, and the option for self-hosting contribute to Rocket.Chat's appeal, making it a versatile solution for diverse communication needs. Challenges with Rocket.Chat, including complexities in the initial setup and configuration, resource-intensive server requirements for self-hosting, occasional concerns about the user interface's intuitiveness, and varying experiences with mobile app performance. However, these issues are not universal and may depend on individual use cases and familiarity with the platform. It's worth noting that Rocket.Chat continually addresses these concerns through updates and improvements, striving to enhance the user experience and accessibility of their platform. What I liked about Rocketchat was the possibility of integration between the different sectors of the company. The tool greatly assists with the possibility of creating distinct channels and thread chats. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometimes we face some problems with the automatic update of Rocket.Chat, requiring a manual download from the website because it cannot be done automatically. Today I use Windows 11 and occasionally I cannot properly view the thread update; it is not scrolling down appropriately as participants write, and I need to scroll manually to read all the messages. Sometimes I ended up not reading messages that got lost because I didn't scroll and I didn't realize I needed to scroll down, and there was also no notification of unread messages because I was in the current thread. I had a really great experience with the Rocket Chat app! The interface is intuitive and easy to use, which makes team communication much more efficient. One of the things I liked the most is the ability to create channels and discussions for different projects or departments, making it easier to organize conversations.
Additionally, Rocket Chat has a variety of useful features, such as file sharing, voice and video calls, screen sharing, and integrations with other popular tools. This makes teamwork even more productive, as we can hold virtual meetings and collaborate in real time.
Another positive point is the customization of the app, allowing you to add emojis and even create bots to automate repetitive tasks. This makes the user experience more pleasant and tailored to individual needs.
Overall, I recommend Rocket Chat for organizations that want an efficient, intuitive communication solution packed with useful features. It's an app that truly facilitates collaboration and helps boost productivity. I am very satisfied with the results I achieved using it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I have no complaints about the tool used. I would like it to still be possible to track the viewing of messages by collaborators in the free plan. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We use the free version, hosted on our own infrastructure, with images and attachments on S3, centralizing all team conversations and definitions in one place, with a history of everything, without deleting any old messages (unlike other competitors in the free version). The way Rocket.Chat creates and manages groups greatly aids in work organization. The integrations make this much easier, and the webhooks are simple to use when an integration does not yet exist. It can be accessed via the Desktop, Web, or Mobile app. Updates do not break functionalities and the modifications are well detailed in the release notes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Some of the features are only available in the paid version, but for small businesses, the free version is sufficient. The number of settings and customizations of the application is enormous, and this requires patience and a lot of caution to understand everything. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like being able to open threads so that group conversations, for example, become more simplified. This way, several people can talk about different topics at the same time without losing context due to interruptions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I frequently have some issues with connection loss, where I need to reload the page to receive or send pending messages. It also happens to freeze and log out automatically. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like all its features: easy to use, easy implementation, messaging, user management. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Federation of two chat servers is difficult to manage, and not able to control user chat. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Overall, Rocket.Chat provides all of the chat solutions I am looking for. Public channels, private channels, private messaging, Webhooks and integrations, SMS, and a website chat widget. Setup is incredibly easy using Docker or Ubuntu Snap. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are still a couple of quirks in the iOS app, but overall it runs smoothly. Accessing and registering for the Rocket.Chat cloud marketplace is not as intuitive as it could be. The marketplace also requires a paid plan. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What I like most about Rocket.Chat is that it is an open source software alternative to the well-known, but proprietary communication apps like Slack and Microsoft Teams. The large community, the ability to self-host the app and fully control the data the app generates and its MIT-license make it great for business-use in privacy conscious companies or those which fall under strict privacy regulations like Europe's GDPR. Since Rocket.Chat is not yet part of every web host's standard app repertoire for one-click installation, manual setup and configuration is often required. Compared to the SaaS competition from Slack and Microsoft Teams, significantly more expertise is required before things are up and running. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Overall, Rocket.Chat fulfills my requirements for communication solutions. It offers public channels, private channels, direct messaging, integration capabilities through Webhooks, SMS functionality, and a chat widget for websites. The setup process is straightforward, whether using Docker or Ubuntu Snap Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Due to Rocket.Chat not being included as a standard app option for one-click installation on most web hosts, setting it up manually becomes necessary. This is in contrast to Slack and Microsoft Teams, which are more readily available as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions. However, the process of getting Rocket.Chat operational typically demands a higher level of expertise and understanding. Additional steps and configuration are typically involved before achieving a fully functional setup. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Rocket chat had the voice message option but it was removed. Could it be reinstated or I will have to ask my company because it might be a case it was restricted by them?
Can I use this for personal use, similar to Whatsapp or Telegram?
