We used Otter for just under a year. We were a single BBQ store with both a takeout business and catering business (large trays of food ordered in advance). We were attracted to Otter’s integration with all the delivery services and the separate catering online store front. At lower price point than some of the alternatives we thought it was a good fit for our small business. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What we didn’t anticipate is it would take us nearly 6 months to acting get set-up. Simple things like the ability to of a customer to be able to schedule a delivery (during normal operating hours) during a time when our store was closed had to be something that had to designed. This took weeks to resolve and we lost business. Its still mind-boggling it wasn’t a feature already embedded in their system. Once we got set-up, it was regular little annoyances and hiccups but we didn’t have the stomach to actually change again given how hard the initial original implementation was. I guess that is their barrier to entry.
The company will nickel and dime you as restaurant. They make their system compatible with just two printers so you’ll be stuck buying them or renting them. We unfortunately closed our restaurant this weekend. The icing on the cake was Otter’s refusal to even consider giving us the 10 days of service refunded back to us that we paid. There are more affordable options out there to consider (door dash online ordering is good alternative). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
