**What do you like best about Operating?**

As a small consultancy we have tried to look for a one-stop software that would cater both our resource planning needs as well as time tracking/project profitability needs. We have just started using the Opearating software as a company and what stands out to me the most so far is its comprehensive features and intuitive user experience. From the moment I started using it, navigating through the features felt natural and easy to use. Most features are logically organized, making it easy to manage our team's resources and track time efficiently. Flexibility of ways how to track different kinds of projects and their subtasks has also been useful for our business. Customer support has also been superb! Looking forward to learning to use the tool even better!

**What do you dislike about Operating?**

While I’ve been very satisfied overall, I find that the reporting features could be somewhat more intuitive. At least as a beginner user, accessing and customizing reports sometimes requires extra steps, and a more streamlined approach would make it even easier to get quick, actionable insights. Hopefully there will also be some improvements/new features soon for tracking time per project phase; e.g. being able to compare easily planned hours per project phase vs actual hours.

It makes our team's resource planning easier and helps us to efficiently track our team's time use and thus supports our profitability tracking for projects

**What do you like best about Operating?**

Operating App stands out for its seamless native integration support with both HubSpot and Harvest, which has been transformative for our workflow. These integrations eliminate the need for manual data entry and ensure that all our project, sales pipeline, and time tracking data are automatically synchronised. This has dramatically improved our efficiency and accuracy in planning, forecasting, and staffing projects, allowing us to allocate resources based on real-time information and historical trends.

The interface is another highlight—it’s refreshingly simple and highly intuitive, making onboarding and daily use effortless for the entire team. We’ve found that the minimal learning curve and clear navigation allow us to focus on our work rather than figuring out the software. The platform provides structured visibility into ongoing projects and resource allocation, ensuring nothing slips through the cracks and empowering leadership with actionable, real-time insights.

Perhaps most impressive is the Operating product team. They are exceptionally responsive, always open to feedback, and quick to implement new features. The support experience is truly top-tier; it’s not uncommon to get direct, helpful responses from the developers or even the CEO (Thanks Lauri!). This level of engagement and commitment to continuous improvement makes us feel like valued partners, not just customers

**What do you dislike about Operating?**

While Operating excels in many areas, the Google SSO (Single Sign-On) experience could be smoother. Occasionally, the login process feels less streamlined compared to other aspects of the app, and there’s room for improvement in making authentication as frictionless as the rest of the platform. However, given the Operating team’s track record of rapidly addressing feedback and rolling out enhancements, I am confident this will be improved in future updates

**What problems is Operating solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Operating App is helping us streamline our project resourcing by providing clear visibility into who is available and what skills they bring to each project. This eliminates much of the guesswork and manual effort that used to be involved in assigning tasks. Second, Operating is assisting with capacity planning by making it easy to see current workloads and forecast future needs, which helps us avoid overbooking or under-utilising our team. 

Finally, the platform offers robust resource billable metrics, allowing us to accurately track time and billable work, which improves our financial tracking and client reporting. 

Overall, these features are saving us time, reducing errors, and giving management the data they need to make better business decisions.

**What do you like best about Operating?**

It's developing fast with new features. It replaces many software solutions and merges them into one; time tracking, project planning, and reporting, to mention a few. It was easy to take into use as a greenfield implementation, and we were able to integrate it with our CRM even though we had to build a custom integration pipeline for this.

The customer experience is top of the line, and the support from the team has been exceptional.

**What do you dislike about Operating?**

Some features are still in development phase, which is understandable, but sometimes frustrating. Also the reporting solution would need some more attention and possibilities for a more flexible reporiting. This is especially coming from a small company who doesn't want to yet invest into an external solution for reporting.

**What problems is Operating solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We don't have to build our own ERP, nor so we need to integrate many solutions that would eventually do the same.

**What do you like best about Operating?**

We have started to use Operating for resourcing as well as work time tracking. We are especially happy with the workflow, as many consultants have mentioned how easy the software is to use. Other great features are reporting and forecasting. We have also been very happy with the support we have received during implementation and first months.

**What do you dislike about Operating?**

There are some features such as recurring resource allocation and cumulative work hour balance that are not yet available but they are on the way.

We have been using Operating for just a few months, but can already see that it will be a game-changer for our team. Its intuitive interface makes it incredibly easy to use, allowing us to seamlessly track resources and manage projects with full visibility. The platform provides a clear and structured way to oversee ongoing projects, ensuring that nothing falls through the cracks.

A great benefit is how it supports leadership with real-time reporting, giving them the insights needed to make informed decisions.

They are committed to continually improving the product, as evidenced by the regular product updates.  Along with all of this, the customer support is top notch. I often am able to email the CEO if I have questions, and he will respond quickly.

**What do you dislike about Operating?**

There isn't too much to dislike about Operating at this time.

**What problems is Operating solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before using Operating.app, keeping track of resource allocation and project progress was time-consuming and often lacked clarity. The platform provides real-time visibility into projects, ensuring that all stakeholders have access to up-to-date information. This eliminates guesswork and improves efficiency.

Additionally, resource tracking has become significantly easier, allowing us to allocate team members effectively and avoid bottlenecks. This ensures that workloads are balanced and projects stay on track.

From a leadership perspective, the built-in reporting tools offer clear, data-driven insights, making it easier to make informed decisions and adjust strategies as needed.

The combination of project planning and tracking, as well as capacity planning and integration with our CRM makes Operating very useful for a variety of cases.

As of the time of our using, there is no dark mode available ;)

We have been using operating for 7-8 months now and it has been amazing. The integration points to hubspot and our time tracking system really solves some of the main issues when running a consultancy. It gives us an amazing overview of the upcoming projects and resources needed and makes it a lot easier to forecast.

Also big kudos to the team behind operating - super responsive and listening to all the feedback we provide.

Operating.in is an amazing user-friendly tool that makes it easy to manage people planning and forecasting of our projects. A very easy tool to create, edit and monitor project progress. Good KPI dashboard to monitor project progress. The user interface is very intuitive and very easy to navigate. But what we love most is how helpful our Reps have been, from the beginning.

Its a new platform, need some reporting features and some more. Though team is very active and quick in implementing new features.

This has replaced our spreadsheet to easily manage our projects planning and forecasting with our teams time off information.

The integrations with HubSpot and Harvest are essential for us to keep everything moving forward. The timeline and horizon views are very useful when it comes to forecasting for projects.

A lack of a communication feature in the platform means we need to discuss things in Slack which adds to the complexity and risks things being missed.

Operating solves the problem of us not knowing which departments are at capacity and need new hires. It also helps us forecast for projects so we know when we have bandwidth to take on new clients.

**What do you like best about Operating?**

We've been using Operating since December 2023, and it has made a significant difference in our business operations. The implementation was very smooth and the Operating team lead the entire process. The tool is easy to use, and the developers are very responsive. Operating has enhanced our forecasting and team planning by integrating smoothly with HubSpot and Harvest, automating many of our manual tasks. It has allowed our team to plan staffing ahead of time and set goals based on effective hourly rates. It has provided a reliable solution for our forecasting and planning needs - I find myself using it every day.

Before Operating, we managed multiple spreadsheets to track our sales pipeline, project details, and forecast hours, which was time-consuming and prone to errors. Operating connects with HubSpot and Harvest, automatically pulling in data to help us plan the best teams for projects based on current workloads and historical data. This integration has streamlined our operations, making it easier to forecast hours for potential projects.

**What do you dislike about Operating?**

Lack of a comments feature means we use Slack for discussions. Data from Harvest and HubSpot requires manual refreshing, which can be overlooked. Ensuring all deals are connected to a Harvest project can be tricky if not careful.

**What problems is Operating solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Operating solves several key problems for us by integrating seamlessly with our existing tools like HubSpot and Harvest. Before using Operating, we managed multiple spreadsheets to track our sales pipeline, project details, and forecast hours, which was cumbersome and prone to errors. Now, Operating automatically pulls in data from these platforms, streamlining our operations and eliminating manual updates. This integration helps us plan the best teams for projects based on current workloads and historical data, making it easier to forecast hours for potential projects and be prepared as soon as a deal is signed. This has greatly improved our efficiency and accuracy in planning and forecasting.

**What do you like best about Operating?**

Operating has been a great fit for us to handle staffing our Professional Services team of 100 people to client projects. It's easy to use and makes planning project timelines and adjusting them on the go very effortless. The tool is also very flexibile, and we can easily see our team's capacity forecast from an individual level to combinations of roles and teams as needed.

We've been able to sync all of our project data via their API so no double input is needed in addition to managing projects in our CRM. The Operating team is also extremely responsive and we always get support very fast if needed.

**What do you dislike about Operating?**

There are still some features we'd like to see, but the product is evolving quickly so more is added all the time.

**What problems is Operating solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- Planning project timelines and work effort
- Making sure our team's capacity stays balanced
- Evaluating our work backlog and lead times for new projects

Operating replaced our previous system where work allocations were managed manually via Excel and Power BI. It has been very benefitial to manage resourcing in real time within the same system where we see up-to-date capacity forecasts.
