Ocean.io is a very helpful platform for identifying the right contacts within companies and connecting with key decision-makers across departments such as Purchase, Quality, and Technical. As a sales professional, it has helped me reach the right people faster and make my lead-generation efforts more efficient. So far, I haven’t experienced many issues with the platform. However, I’m still unclear about the “Search Person by Name” feature. Even when I enter a person’s LinkedIn profile URL, it doesn’t provide their contact details. It would be helpful if this feature could be improved to provide more accurate contact information, or if the team could offer clearer guidance on how to use it effectively. I really like Ocean.io’s data quality, the filters available on the platform, and the user experience. It’s very easy for me to find the data I’m looking for. I think Ocean.io could improve its pricing and transparency. There is no way to sign up for a monthly plan, and I can’t sign up on my own. We use Ocean.io to find lookalike companies that match our ideal customer profile. Instead of building target lists by hand, we start from companies that already fit and let Ocean.io surface similar ones. That has saved us a good amount of time on prospect research.

The biggest benefit for us has been integration. We connected Ocean.io to an outbound tool we built in-house, so lookalike results flow straight into our prospecting workflow. There’s no exporting or copy-pasting between systems.

The AI-driven matching gives us relevant results without heavy manual filtering. For a lean team doing targeted B2B outreach, it has been worth the money.

What I like: accurate lookalike matching, easy integration with our own tools, real time savings on list building.

I use Ocean.io for prospecting hard-to-find businesses, and I find it extremely useful for cold email, lead generation, and outreach. The data quality is pretty good at finding the companies I want, and I can generate look-alike audiences very quickly by using past prospects and customers who were a good fit to find more like them. I don't like that Ocean.io changed its price and terms. You used to be able to pay for it monthly and even pay for it with pay as you go API. But they did away with that. Now you have to pay hundreds or thousands of dollars per month on an annual basis. I'm not saying it's not worth it, but you really have to justify the cost and use case now whereas before you could pay like a regular SaaS. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Honestly, what I like most is that it doesn’t make you guess. Most tools just throw a ton of filters at you and expect you to already know your ICP. Ocean.io looks at the deals you’ve actually won, picks up the pattern, creates a segment and finds more companies like that. One area I’d really like to see improved is how announcements are handled for existing customers. I’d appreciate more proactive communication about updates and any changes to the platform, so it’s clearer what’s changing and when. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The most useful function to me is the lookalike function because it allows me to make my prospecting take much less time with the ability to have a list of hundreds of prospects that can be filtered to my specific markets. Along with the fact that it has a deeper pool of contacts than competitors like zoominfo that I didn't even realize it had initially.

It's a very intuitive and easy-to-use system, so across all our teams everyone finds it simple to engage with. The global visibility of data vs. other platforms is also a real advantage for our prospecting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The inability to add in additional credits within a month (eg. if we have a few concurrent campaigns happening at once our usage can max out our credits very quickly, so being able to 'dropship' in additional credits if this happens, within the month, would be useful to be able to do. The company lookalike search features are great for finding new leads that are similar to your existing customers, and is definitely the most useful feature when combined with filters. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The recent move to annual-only subscriptions which completely removed monthly subscriptions was very frustrating as we had been using ocean.io for a while and had recommended it to many others who were starting out with lead generation and lookalike searches. But now we can no longer use it or recommend it because there is no monthly or pay-as-you-go credits version available. Sadly disappointing because it was a great tool. I like that Ocean.io covers traditional B2B, where other enrichment tools have poor coverage. In one group set, Ocean.io had 100% coverage while Apollo had the wrong information 60% of the time.
