The system is able to import online giving. This saves a lot of time entering data. 2. Icon partners with other companies. In 2023, we were required to start filing W-2's and 1099 Misc. forms electronically. I reached out to Icon for help, and they referred me to Yearli. This program is so easy to use, and has saved me so much time preparing and filing forms with the IRS. 3. The previous software program we used cost a little over $5,000 per year. Since purchasing Icon, we have saved thousands of dollars. 4. Icon offers a variety of reports to print out for the Finance Committee. 5. Icon is a great database to use for attendance and membership records. **What do you dislike about IconCMO?** I can't think of anything at the moment. **What problems is IconCMO solving and how is that benefiting you?** Partnering with other businesses and providing information about those companies in the Tools and Services tab. ### 2. The menus are easy to navigate and it is easy to make entries. When I have to do something I haven't done before, there are videos and help screens. And there is always a knowledgeable and friendly support person available whenever I call - with no waiting, I might add! **What do you dislike about IconCMO?** It is just a little inconvenient to have to enter the phone number for the church when logging in (but I understand why it is necessary.) I'd like to be able to open email attachments that I am sending, to verify that I have attached the correct file before sending. **What problems is IconCMO solving and how is that benefiting you?** Simplifying donor receipt generation. Simplifying bank reconciliation and check generation. Providing appropriate non-profit reports. Consolidating member information. Providing directory access to members. ### 3. There were significant delays in getting financial reports making it difficult to make timely decisions. We now have our monthly books closed within 5 days of month end. Anytime I make a mistake or I'm not sure how to do something I can call and the staff is there to help. **What do you dislike about IconCMO?** I don't see a downside to using IconCMO. Even if they need to research or log in to our account, they always reply and say they are working on it. They are always willing to get on the phone with me and work through my questions together. Last year I had a big payroll issue, and without their help I don't know how I would have resolved it. Our Financial Secretary is also pleased with the ease of entering contributions and printing our contribution statements at the end of the year. We've been using IconCMO since 2020 and I found all the tutorials invaluable in implementing the software. In short, I can't imagine using any other software that might be out there. We have one main CC account with several individual cards issued to different individuals. **What problems is IconCMO solving and how is that benefiting you?** Survey would not allow me to NOT check Church Management. Our church uses someone else and another application for church management. I am using it JUST for the accounting side. It was cheaper than APLOS or any other accounting package that uses funds that I bound in 2022. Was using QuickBooks but got VERY tired of their non-fund accounding software and high priced support. ICON is user friendy and has has quick email support. I have never had any reason to call them for support so do not how well that works. ### 11. We switched to Icon from another church management program and the process was easy, especially with the help from their customer support people. We use it daily for all of our accounting and membership needs, and while it is very comprehensive, it is also easy to use. The very few times I have had a problem, customer support has always been excellent in resolving my issue in a single call. It has features beyond our needs, is frequently updated with new and/or improved features, is easy to implement, easy to use and integrates all of our membership and accounting needs into one awesome software package. After using Quickbooks and Excel spreadsheets at another church, I found IconCMO much easier to use. Recording contributions was easy and the year end statements were a breeze. The product is continually updated with new features and functionality and pricing remains very reasonable. The payroll option and the ability to import contributions from Vanco was a timesaving feature that I wish we had used earlier. **What do you dislike about IconCMO?** After using IconCMO for so many years, sometimes the enhancements and additional features take time for me to learn how to use and make me a little less productive for a short period of time. **What problems is IconCMO solving and how is that benefiting you?** Payroll, contribution recording and reporting, financial statements for the banks and accounting firms we use to audit our statements. We needed an accounting package that was better suited to churches and non-profits and IconCMO fit the bill. ### 15. The accounting segment is incredibly robust and allows full operational control, unlike other accounting software that looks flashy but processes transactions that are difficult to undo or manipulate in a way that makes sense. The integration between donation tracking and accounting is also a wonderful feature for those who are used to tracking donations with one software and having to input the accounting in another. While it might take a little while to be comfortable with the level of control the user can execute, they will eventually realize the freedom they've been given and love it as much as I do! I also really appreciate their customer service both via email and phone. They are very good at responding to questions and concerns as well as customer feedback on module upgrades. **What do you dislike about IconCMO?** There is very little I dislike about ICON. If anything, I would say that there are a few features that are still being refined and upgraded, but ICON is committed to customer feedback and the constant improvement of its product. I have been a customer for 10 years now and have seen this at work. They are working hard to set the standard as the premier fund accounting program. **What problems is IconCMO solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our non-profit has both ministry and missionary operations. The fund accounting with donation tracking allows us to operate efficiently while allowing us to produce reports and information on demand. ### 18. We outsource a portion of our bookkeeping to their team. They are knowledgeable, prompt in their responses, and kind and helpful in their interactions. They have helped us resolve multiple issues, are prompt and thorough in reconciling our monthly books and providing reports, and are always available to explain how to do something new in Icon when I have a question about the system or encounter a new situation. **What do you dislike about IconCMO?** It has been a little difficult to make sure that everyone on our team knows how to use the system. While the accounting team is very helpful in their support, and Icon provides written support resources, for our volunteers who don't have time to learn the system or ask for help, it can be challenging to make sure everyone is on the same page. **What problems is IconCMO solving and how is that benefiting you?** IconCMO is working to make their systems more efficient. For example, their new Donations module (replacing Contributions) will streamline some features that will benefit us, such as being able to transfer donations (this recently happened for us) without needing to use a date range or repost previous batches. ### 19. I also think the deposit slip after the contributions should be more intuitive, and list checks in order entered, not alphabetically. The openness of developers to suggestions for enhancements. Flexibility in data structures [groups / events / special events]. Wide variety of query/data retrieval options. Contribution integration with Vanco and General Ledger transactions [although we moved to a different accounting system as explained in next section]. **What do you dislike about IconCMO?** Chart of Account structure does not adapt [or I couldn't figure it out] to SOFE requirements for 990 filing and financial review requirements Budget preparation/reporting is tedious and does not lend itself to program/department reporting Forced use of some field values [e.g., Status of Active/inactive, etc.; special events that don't apply to our application] Inability to configure field labels on drop-downs at the Individual level. As a result, the contents of our drop-downs appear to be mislabeled, making it confusing to users. Does not work well on a mobile platform; there used to be a directory available for phone use. It would be a big help for our coordinators to have group texting / emailing at their fingertips via their mobile devices. **Recommendations to others considering IconCMO:** It is an economical, efficient, and reasonably easy-to-use application once you are used to it. I am not sure what else is out there these days to compare with it. **What problems is IconCMO solving and how is that benefiting you?** We had a hodge-podge of excel spreadsheets to track volunteers and ministry partners. By funneling contact information into a single database it became easier to communicate with them and identify who is actively engaged in the ministry now. The challenge has been that IconCMO is designed for church use more than general non-profit use. The solution is not ideal but it is better than what we had. I would like to better understand how to use some of the features in case I am missing something. I also would like to see some enhancements that would make use of the data for our purposes easier to grasp for our users. **Official Response from Sales at Icon Systems:** > Thank you so much for your review! To address some of the current concerns you had: Budgeting in IconCMO is done by fund, which also allows you to be able to print budget reports by Fund as well as for the whole organization As for the fields and labels, IconCMO has the option under Church Membership to modify the contents of a dropdown list. This gives you the ability to customize your drop down lists to meet the needs of your organization! Lastly, our Member Portal is still available for download in Google play and Apple's app store. This member portal has the directory available with clickable links on phone numbers and email addresses for calling and texting. Our member portal is designed for mobile phone use. ### 27. I also love that we can upload a photo to match the person in the database, it makes it more personal and easier to connect to the information. There are spaces to capture all kinds of information, and I like how we can pull different reports to better reach certain groups within our parish. **What do you dislike about IconCMO?** I wish of the donations reports had more comparison options. I really like to have the data available to compare different funds supported and group them to be compared year to year or just among each other. From what I understand you can only compare everything or 2 items-there aren't options to view a handful of chosen funds grouped together.
