## HostGator Reviews
  ### 1. Frictionless Hosting with cPanel, Softaculous, and Dependable Uptime

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Luca P. | Chief Operations Officer DEQUA Studio | Formerly CTO in MarTech, Marketing and Advertising, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 05, 2026

**What do you like best about HostGator?**

cPanel is the reason HostGator has stayed in my rotation for as long as it has. I have onboarded enough clients onto enough hosts to know that the control panel is where most of the friction lives, and with HostGator there basically is none. Everything sits where I expect it: file manager, MySQL databases, subdomains, cron jobs, email accounts, DNS zone editor.

When I need to drop into htaccess to fix a redirect or tighten a rewrite rule, the file manager gets me there in two clicks without me reaching for SFTP. I have used hosts that bury their own custom panel on top of cPanel or replace it with something proprietary, and every time it costs me an afternoon of relearning where things moved to. HostGator just ships the industry-standard panel and lets me work.

Softaculous inside cPanel does more for my day-to-day than it gets credit for. Spinning up a fresh WordPress install used to mean downloading the package, creating a database by hand, wiring up wp-config, and uploading the lot.

With Softaculous I pick WordPress, point it at a directory, set the admin credentials, and it is live in under a minute with the database already provisioned. For a client who wants a staging copy to experiment on, I clone the install through the same interface rather than rebuilding it. When I am standing up three or four small sites in a week, that saved setup time is real, and it is the kind of thing I no longer think about because it just works.

Uptime has been dependable in a way that matters more than the marketing number suggests. HostGator quotes a 99.9 percent SLA, and across the sites I keep on shared plans the real-world figure has tracked close to that. I run external monitoring on the client sites I care about, and the alerts that do fire are almost always something I broke during a deploy rather than the host falling over. For the kind of work I put here, brochure sites, small business pages, campaign landing pages, that level of reliability is exactly what the job needs. I am not running a high-traffic store on a Hatchling plan and expecting miracles, but for what these plans are built for, the boxes stay up.

The 24/7 live chat support has pulled me out of trouble more than once at hours when no sensible person should be working. The flow is not perfect, there is a bot at the front that wants to ask a few questions before it hands me to a human, but once I am through to an agent the help has been competent and quick. On a Sunday night migration that went sideways, I had a real person looking at the account within a couple of minutes and the DNS propagation question I had sorted before I would have finished reading their knowledge base article. Support quality is the thing people complain about most with budget hosts, and while it is not flawless here, it has been good enough often enough that I trust it when I am in a bind.

Unmetered bandwidth across the plans takes a whole category of worry off the table. I do not have to model traffic spikes against a transfer cap or warn a client that a successful campaign might get their site throttled. When a marketing page I host catches a bit of viral attention, the bandwidth is simply not the thing that breaks. For shared hosting at this price that is genuinely useful, because the alternative is the kind of metered plan where a good month of traffic turns into a surprise overage conversation.

The free SSL on every plan is a small thing that removes a recurring chore. Let's Encrypt certificates provision automatically, renew on their own, and I do not have to think about the padlock ever again. A few years ago getting HTTPS onto a small client site meant either paying for a certificate or manually wrangling Let's Encrypt through the command line. Now it is just on, and the Business plan upgrade to a Positive SSL is there for the handful of clients who want the higher-assurance certificate for their own reasons.

The free domain for the first year and the bundled domain management are convenient enough that I often register the client's domain right here rather than going to a separate registrar. DNS management and the hosting live in the same account, so connecting a domain to a site is one fewer set of credentials and one fewer place to log into. For a client who is not technical and just wants their name pointed at their website, keeping it under one roof for the first year removes a step where things usually go wrong.

The plan structure makes sense once you understand the three tiers. Hatchling for a single site, Baby for unlimited domains when a client has a couple of properties, Business when someone wants the dedicated IP and the SEO extras. I can match the plan to the actual shape of the work rather than overpaying for headroom nobody will use, and the VPS options sit right above for the rare client whose project outgrows shared hosting. Having that upgrade path inside the same provider means I am not planning a migration to a different company the moment a site gets serious.

**What do you dislike about HostGator?**

Renewal pricing is the thing I have to manage most carefully, and it is the first conversation I have with any client before they sign up. The promotional rate that gets you in the door is genuinely cheap, but it applies to the initial multi-year term, and the renewal rate is substantially higher. A plan that looked like a few dollars a month can roughly triple when the introductory period ends. It is disclosed if you read carefully, but it is not front and center, and a client who only saw the headline number feels misled when the renewal invoice lands. My workaround is to tell people up front to lock in the longest term they are comfortable with to push the renewal as far out as possible, and to set a calendar reminder a month before renewal so the higher rate is never a surprise. It works, but it is friction that better-priced renewals would simply remove.

The backup situation on shared plans is the weakest part of the offering and the one I actively design around. The automatic backup runs roughly weekly and the account only retains a single copy, which is not enough for anything I would call a real safety net. One weekly snapshot means that if a site gets compromised or a bad update slips through, the restore point could be days old and the only version they have. I do not rely on it. For any client site that matters I run an independent backup, either a WordPress plugin pushing to offsite storage or my own scheduled cPanel export pulled down on a cadence I control. HostGator sells a CodeGuard-based add-on that fills the gap, but it is an extra cost on top, and a host this established should ship a more serious backup baseline than this.

The upselling during signup and inside the panel is heavier than I would like. The checkout flow tries to attach domain privacy, SiteLock security, the backup add-on, and a few other extras, all pre-considered in a way that a less careful buyer clicks straight past and pays for. I know which boxes to uncheck, but I have walked clients back through their first invoice to strip off things they did not realize they had agreed to. It is not dishonest exactly, the items are all listed, but the default-on framing pushes cost onto people who do not need the extras, and it leaves a slightly mercenary taste on what is otherwise a straightforward purchase.

Performance is adequate rather than impressive, and on shared plans I feel the ceiling. The boxes are stable, but raw speed and time to first byte lag behind hosts that have invested more heavily in caching infrastructure and modern storage. There is no server-side caching layer of the kind purpose-built WordPress hosts ship by default, so I end up leaning on a caching plugin and an external Cloudflare setup to get pages snappy. For the simple sites I keep here that is fine, but I would not put a performance-sensitive or heavily dynamic project on a shared plan and expect it to fly. When speed is the priority I reach for a different class of host or move the client to VPS.

The Gator website builder is the part of the offering I steer clients away from. It is fine for someone who genuinely wants drag-and-drop and will never touch the underlying site again, but it is not as capable as the dedicated builder platforms, and anything built in it is effectively locked to it. For most clients I set up WordPress instead, which gives them a real path to grow and a site that is portable if they ever leave. The builder is not bad for what it is, it just is not the tool I want to hand someone who might need more later.

**What problems is HostGator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The core problem it solves is getting a small client site live, secured, and manageable without turning hosting into its own project. The work I do a lot of is standing up sites for small businesses and freelancers who do not have a technical person and never will. Before I standardized on a familiar cPanel host for this tier of work, every setup was a slightly different ritual depending on whoever the client had already signed up with, and half my time went into relearning someone else's panel. Now the path is the same every time: provision the plan, install WordPress through Softaculous, point the domain, turn on SSL, hand it over. The benefit is that the boring part of the job stays boring, and my attention goes to the actual site rather than to fighting the infrastructure.

Handing a non-technical client something they can actually log into is a problem it quietly handles. cPanel is familiar enough and organized clearly enough that I can show a client where their email accounts and file manager live and trust them not to break anything in five minutes. The before-state was clients who were afraid to touch their own hosting and routed every tiny request through me, which was a tax on both of us. With a panel they can navigate, the simple stuff, adding an email account, checking disk usage, becomes something they can do themselves, and I only get pulled in for the things that genuinely need me.

Keeping client costs predictable and low at the start of a project is something it does well, with the renewal caveat managed. For a small business spending its own money cautiously, being able to start a site for a genuinely low monthly figure lowers the barrier to getting online at all. The before-state was clients hesitating over hosting costs before they had even seen their site work. Starting cheap, with the honest conversation about renewals built in, gets them live and gives the project momentum, and by the time renewal arrives the site has usually proven its worth.

Consolidating domain, hosting, SSL, and email into one account removes a category of credential sprawl that used to cause real support headaches. When a client's domain registrar, host, certificate provider, and email were four separate logins, troubleshooting a problem meant first working out which of the four was even responsible. Keeping it under one roof means that when something is wrong, there is one place to look and one support line to call. The after-state is fewer "which password was that" moments and faster diagnosis when a site goes quiet.

Having a clear upgrade path inside the same provider solves the problem of the site that outgrows its plan. A project that starts as a simple brochure site occasionally turns into something with real traffic or an online store bolted on, and the move from a Baby plan to a Business plan or up to VPS happens inside the same account rather than as a full migration to a new company. The before-state was the dreaded "this site is too big for its host now, time to move everything" conversation, with all the DNS and email and downtime risk that carries. Being able to scale up a tier within HostGator defers that pain, often indefinitely, for the sites that grow gradually.

Covering the routine reliability that small sites need without me babysitting them is the steady, unglamorous benefit. The sites I keep here stay up, the certificates renew themselves, the bandwidth does not run out, and for weeks at a time I do not have to think about any of them. For a category of work where the client's expectation is simply that their website is there when someone types the address, that quiet dependability is the whole point. The infrastructure receding into the background, so I can focus on building and the client can focus on their business, is exactly what I want hosting to do at this level.

  ### 2. Easy to Use, Fast Hosting at an Ultra-Fair Price

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sharon S. | Website Developer, E-Commerce Specialist , Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 04, 2026

**What do you like best about HostGator?**

When I started, I loved HostGator. It is an easy to use host, that provides all the basics and ticks all the boxes. Their prices are ultra-fair and allowed me to make money selling hosting to others. The performance was spot on and the sites loaded quickly, even if I could not select the physical location of the server. Support was good - every time i had a question it was a short wait to get a good helping hand. overall I recommend HostGator to new hosts and they are a very well built solution.

**What do you dislike about HostGator?**

There isn’t anything I really disliked. I just reached a point where I needed more control over things like physical data center locations, so I moved to a dedicated VPS.

**What problems is HostGator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

HostGator let me host other sites without needing deep server knowledge. It made it possible for me to set up a business that earns money and keeps growing. I could sleep well knowing the servers were running and staying up. I really loved it.

  ### 3. Reliable Hosting with Intuitive Dashboard

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Umair B. | Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 24, 2025

**What do you like best about HostGator?**

I really like HostGator’s hosting features, especially shared hosting. The easy-to-use dashboard is a highlight, making website management straightforward, and it includes all of my websites in one place. Installation of content management systems like WordPress is incredibly simple, which adds to the overall efficiency I experience. HostGator’s services are unique and stand out when compared to other hosting platforms. Moreover, I have been using HostGator since 2009, which speaks volumes about my satisfaction and loyalty to their services and features. I value the seamless experience and reliability that HostGator provides over such a significant duration.

**What do you dislike about HostGator?**

I think the number of email addresses provided with the shared hosting plan could be increased. Sometimes, my clients request me to create 10 to 15 email addresses, and currently, the allowance does not always meet this demand. I've heard other platforms offer more email options, and having this feature would be an improvement. Otherwise, all other features are perfect.

**What problems is HostGator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

HostGator simplifies my hosting needs, provides domain purchasing, and allows creating official email addresses with shared hosting, resolving multiple hosting challenges.

  ### 4. Good Average Hosting

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 25, 2023

**What do you like best about HostGator?**

I like the cPanel Reseller access and WHM availability

**What do you dislike about HostGator?**

I dislike the constant server downtime and the problem with the shared server (easy to get hacked).

**What problems is HostGator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Currently, it benefits me in hosting a few websites. I like that I can create a separate cpanel for each website.

  ### 5. I left this platform for a more secure option.

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nancy S. | Marketing Consultant, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 21, 2025

**What do you like best about HostGator?**

Ease of setup and the Support was really great when I needed them. Since I rely on my website, the daily up time and usage is critical. It is easy to register and set up a domain. The integration of domains and sites was easy enough. The CNAME setup and sub domains, were all working well. And I did love the options to get plans that fit my business.

**What do you dislike about HostGator?**

I had issues with security and viruses, continually while hosting my site there. After 3 failures of the site, and one billing failure that took my site down, even though the payment was on automatic payments... I left for a more secure and stable platform.

**What problems is HostGator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Domain registration and hosting.

  ### 6. Good reliable service, not the cheapest

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consulting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 18, 2025

**What do you like best about HostGator?**

It's been consistent for me for the past 8 years. I use the reseller account and have about 10 sites for clients on the account. Easy to navigate if you know cPanel.

**What do you dislike about HostGator?**

The price goes up every year which is to be expected, but I'm at about $44/mo for hosting for several clients. Customer support is pretty good too.

**What problems is HostGator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I need a central place to house all my clients' websites. Hostgator does that for me although it is getting expensive.

  ### 7. Hostgator FAIL

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 05, 2025

**What do you like best about HostGator?**

Nothing at all, AVOID HOSTGATOR LIKE THE PLAGUE

**What do you dislike about HostGator?**

Hostgator is Horrible-gator!!

Avoid Hostgator if you value your website. Their system deleted my WordPress site – gone! When I spoke to “support” they say that billing for my hosting failed. After I have been with them for years. The credit card on file is one we use every day. They say their ‘system’ sent an email about billing problem. Those emails never came to us, although I get emails from them all the time – MANY emails I have received, none saying they would delete my hosting. My domain name was billed fine. They have no explanation, my site is gone because Hostgater failed! AVOID THESE FAILING SYSTEMS AND USELESS, IRRESPONSIBLE COMPANY IF YOU VALUE YOUR WEB SITES!!

**What problems is HostGator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

AVOID HOSTGATOR NO MATTER WHAT!

  ### 8. An Affordable Way to Manage Your Domain

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Steven J. | President, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 09, 2025

**What do you like best about HostGator?**

It made purchasing the domain really simple. I have actually purchased more than one domain from them. We purchase a couple years at a time so we save money.

**What do you dislike about HostGator?**

It is not the easiest to use if they are not hosing your sight. Also, customer service is a chat. Can’t get someone on the phone.

**What problems is HostGator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Purchasing my domain for my website and other domains to forward to my website.

  ### 9. Great for newbies, bad titan email service

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about HostGator?**

One of the cheapest hosting providers and has litespeed hosting and options for a faster website, great for newbies looking for an easy hosting to setup wordpress

**What do you dislike about HostGator?**

They lied about the Titan email service sending limit per hour and day limit

**What problems is HostGator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hostgator solves the complicated hosting and wordpress setup. It is affordable for my personal projects and business needs. Also they got an included email service into the hosting packages that make it easy to get a profesional email address and integrate it with wordpress

  ### 10. Good for Non-Techies

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeffrey P. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 03, 2025

**What do you like best about HostGator?**

HostGator is pretty straightforward for those who want to avoid having to manage their own hosting environment

**What do you dislike about HostGator?**

Sometimes the dashboard had functionality issues

**What problems is HostGator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When I don't want to engage in complicated DevOps work, Hostgator is a good platform

  ### 11. Reliable hosting service provider

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jacob H. | Marketing Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 14, 2024

**What do you like best about HostGator?**

The best thing I can say about them is their service. They have not compromised on that. It was above my expectation.

**What do you dislike about HostGator?**

I have not found a single thing to dislike about them. They are literally the best on this field.

**What problems is HostGator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They are making sure that my business is online and helping me growing with my business. That's really helpful for me and my business.

  ### 12. Lost all Trust and Confidence

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Robert L. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 30, 2023

**What do you like best about HostGator?**

I am a gallery that deals in photography and artwork that often includes nudity. This was one of the hosting companies recommended to me that did not restrict nudity.

**What do you dislike about HostGator?**

HostGator's tech support has always been poor. Customers cannot contact tech support directly. Even if customer support promised to "escalate" the matter, it takes days for tech support to get back to us by email, and either they've closed the case prematurely or they ask us to repeat the information we gave customer support in the first place, adding several more days to down time. But, now they have also eliminated all phone support and reduced their customer support to a robotic chat, internationally outsourced. Every time we contact them, the poor customer support person comes back with the same empty promises and platitudes: "I understand your concern," "I've escalated this case," "24-48 hours," and it's still taken weeks — yes weeks — to resolve, causing loss of revenue for our business. The problems are never user error at our end, they are always serious technical problems at HostGator: image gallery malfunction, email malfunction, billing records processed incorrectly. A serious company would be deeply mortified and resolve their issues immediately. We certainly would in our business. They never do. They always make promises they don't keep.

**What problems is HostGator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This was a hosting service that enabled me to present works of art and photography that included nudity and erotic subjects. It also had a store feature where I could sell items from my collection, keep an email list with e-commerce. But honestly, in recent months, it's created more problems than solved them.

  ### 13. Affordable, Fast WordPress Hosting

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Robert R. | Business Consultant and Speaker, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 19, 2023

**What do you like best about HostGator?**

HostGator offers the best value for shared hosting WordPress websites. The sites load quickly, have a 99% up-time and customer service is available via telephone.

Customer service is efficient and stays on the phone until the problem is resolved.

**What do you dislike about HostGator?**

Not much to dislike about HostGator. The value they provide is one of the best in the industry. If I had to choose something, it would probably be the same as with most hosting companies, I would love to whitelist the servers as I use it to host clients' sites.

**What problems is HostGator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I manage over 40 clients' websites and HostGator has enough resources in the plan I use to pay one small monthly fee and host all of my client's sites as well as get free SSL certificates for each, set up email accounts, take advantage of their technical support and know that my sites are loading fast to get good ratings on Google and GTMetrix

  ### 14. Affordable and reliable service

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carlos C. | General Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2023

**What do you like best about HostGator?**

Hostgator provides an affordable and competitive web hosting service that stands out in a market flooded with options. The pricing and discounts offered make it an attractive choice for budget-conscious users. The hosting plans cover my needs well, offering a standard plan with the flexibility to maintain a primary domain while redirecting others to my main website.

The backend interface is user-friendly, and I appreciate the seamless integration with popular CMS platforms like WordPress and Joomla. This compatibility adds to the convenience of managing my website efficiently.

customer service has proven to be responsive, addressing inquiries promptly via both phone and chat. I've successfully resolved minor issues with their assistance, contributing to a positive overall experience. Additionally, Hostgator boasts a commendable track record of uptime, with occasional downtime for general maintenance scheduled during off-peak times. This ensures minimal disruption to the service.

**What do you dislike about HostGator?**

one area for improvement is the lack of notifications for security updates. There have been instances where I've gone for months without being reminded of necessary updates, potentially leaving my site vulnerable. Enhancing this aspect of their service would contribute to a more proactive and secure user experience.

**What problems is HostGator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

HostGator has simplified the management of multiple domains and websites. The ability to consolidate all of my websites onto a single platform has been a game-changer for me. This consolidation not only streamlines the management process but also provides the convenience of automatic payments.

  ### 15. Good Service Provider

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Deep G. | Sales Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 13, 2023

**What do you like best about HostGator?**

I like multiple things about it and some of it is the 99.9% uptime guarantee that it provides. It means a lot specially when your website cannot go down anytime. Apart from that it also has 24*7 support team and hence its easier to contact them anytime. Also it is easy to use and get implemented even if you are using it for the first time.

**What do you dislike about HostGator?**

We haven't faced any problems while using it but few people may find it bit expensive as compared to other providers out there. But I can say that its worth spending that cost for getting such an awesome service.

**What problems is HostGator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It solves the need to host the websites well and in an efficient manner. Most of the time our clients rely upon us to make sure that their website is up and running well without any security concerns and hostgator does a great job in it.

  ### 16. good customer service

**Reviewed Date:** December 28, 2022

**What do you like best about HostGator?**

A lot of hosting options, offers and 24/7 customer support

**What do you dislike about HostGator?**

Renewal price can lead you to higher costs more then the first time

**What problems is HostGator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Soeasy to create wordpress website with ssl without a lot of steps

  ### 17. Affordable hosting with free SSL, my go-to choice!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nayan P. | PPC Manager, Marketing and Advertising, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 15, 2023

**What do you like best about HostGator?**

Their free SSL certificate with every Linux shared hosting. I've been using it for my clients and couldn't be happier to see the free SSL. The customer support is top-notch, even on weekends they are available and help us out with any implementation issues. They offer multiple features or plans, you just have to select what suits you best. Even the integration with other domain providers is much easier.

**What do you dislike about HostGator?**

Nothing as much to dislike, but yes, their backend dashboard can be improved a little bit giving a more refreshed look.

**What problems is HostGator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They are affordable when compared to other hosting providers. And the best thing is they offer free SSL certificates with every Linux shared hosting which makes their pricing cheaper. While using Hostgator, we never faced downtime issues because of their huge bandwidth.

  ### 18. Affordable, User-Friendly Hosting with Truly Great Features.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shubham A. | Associate Growth Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 12, 2023

**What do you like best about HostGator?**

The best thing about hostgator:

1. Affordibility : Competitive pricng especially on shared hosting plans.

2. Ease of use: UI is user friendly and very easy to navigate.

3. Helpful customer support: It offers 24/7 customer support via live chat, phone, and email.

**What do you dislike about HostGator?**

There are couple of things:

Upselling: It tries to upsell additional features during the checkout.

Slow Load at times: I have personally faced issues with loading speed at times, which hinders the UX.

**What do you like best about HostGator?**

Customer service was fast and reliable. Cheap for first time users

**What do you dislike about HostGator?**

They call you to send a verification code instead of text. Server is slow. Not the best for advice, they always try t upsell you a product that is not the best for you

**What problems is HostGator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

If you are new to website and hosting, it's a great place to start, but not to scale your business.

  ### 20. Economy but robust hosting provider.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about HostGator?**

Whenever you login a chatbot is always ready to help you out there to resolve your problem.

**What do you dislike about HostGator?**

Yearly charges are increasing which is a burden for us to maintain that costs.

**What problems is HostGator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Email issues, DNS issues, space issues, hosting server issues, backup issues..

  ### 21. Was surprised with numerous price increases and they bill before the stated renewal dates.

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joe V. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 27, 2024

**What do you like best about HostGator?**

It starts out easy to use and their interface is decent for implementation. They start out charging a reasonable rate.

**What do you dislike about HostGator?**

After the introductory rate, they begin to charge a lot more. Worse, is that the monthly rate increases without notification. My rate went up twice within a year for hosting.
When I was thinking of transitioning from them, they renewed my services over two weeks early.

**What problems is HostGator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It starts out affordable for a simple brochure web site. Their domain interface allowed me direct the domain name to a third party CMS easily.

  ### 22. The best web hosting provider

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** INDIRA PATRICIA M. | Diseñador Grafico, Graphic Design, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 23, 2023

**What do you like best about HostGator?**

I like this hosting because it guarantees functionality and security for website hosting, and it also has 24/7 technical support. Whenever you need to clarify any doubts, the chat is available and they respond immediately.

**What do you dislike about HostGator?**

There is nothing I don't like about this web hosting company, it really meets my expectations and I am very satisfied to have it as my web hosting. It's Excellent!

**What problems is HostGator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have my websites hosted on this hosting service which is highly reliable and stable, the hosting management has a simple interface, it is the best hosting for Wordpress sites.

  ### 23. Friendly Host for our websites. HostGator!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shubham P. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 19, 2023

**What do you like best about HostGator?**

Hostgator has brought a range of web services and it has made it easy for small scale developers like me to create our own space. It has helped me in providing my email domain and in building my website. Also I am not sure if it's integrated with Wordpress, but it does make a good sense.

**What do you dislike about HostGator?**

Sometimes I feel the rental prices are little much. For growing developers like me, we dont need all the services infact only basic services would do the work, but for that too we need to pay an amount which sometimes feel overpriced.

**What problems is HostGator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was struggling with the my web page design and also for getting SSL certificates for my website. I have used Gator website builder for my designing stuff also HostGator helped me with my email domain name and I could use it easily afterwards as well.

  ### 24. Very bad technical support

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mohamed A. | Founder/CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 05, 2024

**What do you like best about HostGator?**

Nothing, I don't like Hostgator or recommend it to any of my clients, however, one of my clients hosted his website and I needed to contact the technical support.

**What do you dislike about HostGator?**

They are not nonprofessional at all, the first time the agent tried to solve the issue (Crawl the website with Semrush), and agreed that I would try and get back if still facing the same issue, today the other agent without checking anything told me that they did support the issues with Semrush and I can get back to Semrush, and close the chat without waiting for my reply.

**What problems is HostGator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Crawling the website with Semrush

  ### 25. Best and affordable reliable hosting provider

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** NISHI P. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 10, 2023

**What do you like best about HostGator?**

the best part of the HostGator is that customer support department, whenever i faced any problem or needed help they were always available for support,

next is server downtime is 0, i am using their service from the last 8 years and i didn't face any problem related to hosting , website up time is best

**What do you dislike about HostGator?**

no i don't think so there are any disliking options i have found from the last 8 years, i like everything and i am fully satisfied with their service , no complain

**What problems is HostGator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Last time by mistake i have deleted all my client's hosted live domain from my shared hosting packages, i called their support department as an emergency purpose , they are ready to help to get all my backup as soon as possible, within an hour they send me all the backup files, after that I am able to relive all my clients website, thanks for the support

  ### 26. Easy transition from pervious hosts with simplified website editors/builders

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Liam B. | Biomedical Engineering Undergraduate, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 19, 2023

**What do you like best about HostGator?**

I personaly like the Weebly integration the best, it became very simple to build a new website and edit the current one with drag and drops and clicks of a button to publish all within Hostagtor.

**What do you dislike about HostGator?**

I initially switched to HostGator due to its low cost, the cost to host has since increased yearly which I was unaware of until the billing cycles.

**What problems is HostGator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Decent price point and has great flexibility for website building within the same hosting space (without having to build on one company then host with a compeltely different one)

  ### 27. Best quality/price hosting for beginners

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Juan M. | Diseñador Gráfico y Web .Freelance, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 12, 2024

**What do you like best about HostGator?**

It has all the necessary resources to start working on any type of web page with its own easy-to-use control panel.

**What do you dislike about HostGator?**

The current plans have changed, limiting the disk space and the number of sites that can be hosted, whereas before they were unlimited.

**What problems is HostGator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Old plans like mine do not allow changing the PHP version to the most current one, which causes errors on websites created with WordPress and its plugins.

  ### 28. Effortless hosting experience with reliable customer support.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Facilities Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 31, 2023

**What do you like best about HostGator?**

I love HostGator's uptime; my site's always up and running. Their customer support is super helpful and always has my back.

The control panel is super easy to use, which is great for someone like me who's not super tech-savvy. They've got all the tools I need, from setting up emails to backing up my website.

Plus, their prices are reasonable

**What do you dislike about HostGator?**

Sometimes, HostGator can be a bit slow to load, which can be a bit annoying. Their upselling can also be a bit much; I feel like I'm constantly being pitched additional services.

The least helpful thing about HostGator is probably their knowledge base. It's got a ton of information, but it can be overwhelming and hard to find exactly what you're looking for.

The main downsides are the occasional slow load times and the aggressive upselling. Other than that, I've had a pretty good experience with them.

**What problems is HostGator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

HostGator solves the problem of finding reliable and affordable web hosting. With HostGator, I don't have to worry about my website going down or running into technical issues. Their uptime is great, and if I ever do run into problems, their customer support is always there to help.

This benefits me because it allows me to focus on creating content and engaging with my audience, instead of worrying about the technical side of running a website. It also gives me peace of mind knowing that my website is in good hands and that I have support available whenever I need it. Additionally, the range of tools and features they offer makes it easy for me to manage my website and add new features as needed.

  ### 29. Review about hostgator

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ranjan S. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 13, 2023

**What do you like best about HostGator?**

I felt Hosgator is one of best platform to host websites with less cost of almost less than 4$ per month. They provide free ssl certificate. Compared to other other hostings like godaddy and AWS , Hostgator is very cheap so young like me can easily afford this.

**What do you dislike about HostGator?**

I felt they provide very less customer support. So that is one thing i felt dislike about hostgator.

**What problems is HostGator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps to search domains and host websites according to customer needs like vps hosting and shared hostings. These options helps young enterpreneurs overlook and choose the hosting type which ever they want. So we can choose what type of hosting we need and charges applicable accordingly. So it helps me to host different type of websites according to the needs.

  ### 30. The platform is limited in its ability to let you do what you need to do.

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Leonard R. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 15, 2023

**What do you like best about HostGator?**

The dashboard is somewhat friendly, but not 100% easy to navigate. It's better than it used to be.

**What do you dislike about HostGator?**

The customer service is one of the worst I've ever engaged with. Not only does it take a long time to get someone to respond to you, but they're interested only in getting rid of you as quickly as they can. Their listening skills are second to none.

**What problems is HostGator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A client of ours utilizes it for shared hosting. I would not use HostGator for my clients. The problem it's solving for one of our clients is that they are hosted there, fairly trouble free.

  ### 31. Well known web Hosting and domain registrar

Awesome Customer Support, more features and easy to manage and impelement

**What do you dislike about HostGator?**

The cost if little high comrative to the market, you can can get the same service at lower cost but again the HostGator quality is just awesome

**What problems is HostGator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used to have reseller hosting from a different vendor but I was seriously struggling with the speed and virus, I baught VPS from HostGator and I was able to make my website super fast and secured

I like the simplicity of using the server and also the ease of doing the real-time implementation of the websites. We also encountered some errors and their support team was available on the go. We have been using many services so far and HostGator is one of the go-to products that we use.

**What do you dislike about HostGator?**

There is nothing specific that we don't like in terms of using it.

**What problems is HostGator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It solves the problem of hosting websites and even configuring new websites with the help of Cpanel. It also helps a lot when we encounter any bugs in it specifically in terms of malwares. Sometimes it also helped us by taking the backup of the site as we had the pro plan.

**What do you like best about HostGator?**

I had never used and domain but when navigating on HostGator, Payments, managing Server and everything is at ease.
Adding or getting a new domain was not a hassel and managing multiple domain did not had any concerns at all. Live chat is also very effective.

**What do you dislike about HostGator?**

Sometimes the support are unable to assist us on timely manner.

I like their communication skills, they have a couple nice people in support. It's easy to use. It's fairly easy to start a project and make it run.

It's slow and doesn't scale like new cloud hostings.

It has limited functionality, no auto scaling, no auto load balancing.

**What problems is HostGator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Some of my clients use it, that's why I have to use it.

  ### 38. Best Hosting Services

**What do you like best about HostGator?**

The thing I like about hostgator is it's fast servers and the support from the company. Also it's easy to use and vey easy to implement.

**What do you dislike about HostGator?**

The pricing might make a bad thing because as a web developer, we need to host multiple domains, at that time sometimes it felt like a disadvantage.

**What problems is HostGator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a consultant and a developer company we are focused into hosting multiple domains for several clients. So by using hostgator, their services are the best I would say compared to some other services which I have used in the past few years.

**What do you like best about HostGator?**

It is easy to use for hosting WordPress sites for our company. Customer Support is very friendly and effective. I used the WordPress hosting, Cpanel and email hosting as features. As it was for WordPress, the Cpanel was well configured by Hostgator in order to operate the multiples websites we have.

**What do you dislike about HostGator?**

There were cheaper options than the $3.75 offered currently for their base plan.

**What problems is HostGator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used HostGator for its ability to host WordPress websites.

  ### 46. Far and away, the worst customer support of any company I've ever used

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael W. | CTO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 29, 2023

**What do you like best about HostGator?**

At this point, nothing honestly. There's really nothing good about the service.

**What do you dislike about HostGator?**

Slower than the average hosting package of the same price, they overcram their servers. Their support is literally the worst I've ever dealt with and will leave your account in worse shape than when you spoke to them. Every HostGator support interaction consists of two parts, the first agent you talk to who tells you one thing, and then the second agent you talk to who tells you the first agent was mistaken and steered you wrong. By the end of it, something WILL be screwed up on your account.

Half the time you can't even get into your dashboard because of their aggressive Cloudflare configuration that rate-limits you.

**What problems is HostGator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They solved the problem of needing a webhost until they became impossible to deal with. They were never *good* really, but they were acceptable for a good while.

**What problems is HostGator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The services can be down for days which may leave you in a difficult situation. Once thier billing service was down for more than three days. Migratition needs to improve alot.
