Response from Jeff Porter of Handbid
Hi there, thank you for your feedback!
You mentioned that the app had a lag, which is surprising since our platform is near real-time. We can't promise "real time" as networks between a bidder and Handbid can generate some delay, but in most cases, updates in Handbid happen in a fraction of a second. In fact, bids are updated through live socket connections so quickly that often someone is told they are outbid as soon as it happens. We wonder if the network connectivity one of your particular events was not good. Sorry about that, we know that can be frustrating.
Regarding images, we are always looking for ways to make the process of sizing images easier. All of the image sizes in Handbid are industry standards, with the hope that makes it easier for most. We also do suggest tools that can really automate the process of getting images ready for Handbid, and a service that will do it for you if it is a struggle... We know it is an important topic because the images are so large and prominent in Handbid, thus putting more emphasis on how they look vs other solutions where it is a small thumbnail.
We agree that while some older guests blow us away with their tech savviness, some struggle with any sort form of technology. Bidders certainly don't have to use the Handbid app (they can bid from a web page on their phone), but we often recommend the use of Handbid's iPad kiosks for those "non-techy" bidders you find at your event. These technophobes often find that bidding from iPads with the assistance of a "bid helper" to be really easy to adopt.
We hope you continue to use Handbid and recognize that our regular updates and responsiveness to customer concerns set us apart from many other solutions out there!
Best of luck in your fundraising!
