We're very new to ELMO still so I'm only commenting on our initial (admin) user experience
A highlight has been the Client engagement from our ELMO rep, and the platform's provisions of user support for admin users - Our first usage of ELMO was a bit up and down ; there were a LOT of training slides that were very repetitive, and didn't really suit our learning styles so we were concerned for how things would play out, but their AI support agent is bloody brilliant! - and their user forums seem to have a high level of activity going on from a helpful group of people. Elmo have done a good job with incorporating this framework into their software offering (and even encouraging usage through a rewards platform $$!!! - but seriously, this is such a good idea!! nothing encourages new admin users to get involved more than some game play and physical $$ rewards for being part of it)
I like the raw aspects of ELMO that others may not - the Course Builder in particular looks archaic, and lacks the flashy interfaces of modern graphics or web design software, but by keeping the source code open makes it very easy to change this through HTML/CSS - which these days is a piece of cake thanks to ChatGPT - simply upload the base code and tell it what you want! I found our initial experience somewhat disheartening and we were concerned whether we had made the right decision - but hang in there, because after the initial bumps, things have really gotten better for us! So far, we're very satisfied with ELMO!
Our initial online training was VERY long and repetitive - death by powerpoint too! We struggled to keep paying attention because of how drawn out it was. Our initial upload of historic user data was also quite frustrating - the instructions online that show what/how templates need to be filled out were often incorrect or incomplete, which made this process very frustrating - it would be even more so if you're not accustomed to database CSV/pivot tables to decipher what is being requested.
We did some face to face (admin) training from a very experienced trainer - perhaps a bit TOO experienced as we found the training hard to keep up with, and more of a demonstration than it was training (he was super nice, polite, and helpful, but the 'training course' didn't really ensure that we were competent etc. as there wasn't much 'doing' during the training session. - again though, hang in there, because it was enough for us to learn the basics, and the ELMO Assist AI support agent is really good at helping out once we were back in our office!
